Realistically speaking how long can they keep up this gimmick shit? It's been down hill since Megas and they keep abandoning them after every gen.
I miss when the games had other features, and things to do that wasn't battle related. My biggest dream was to have a ranked Beauty Contest, it was some of the most fun I've had in Gen 3. I forget which Gen it was but we could even customize our pokeballs and add animations. Why can't we get more things like that instead of one and done Gimmick that's never going to return?

Yeah, that's why we shouldn't get any battle facilities to actually test our teams out properly. Tera raids are the only postgame we need!
Battle facilities don't help you test your teams in any real capacity because even in the hardest ones you're fighting bizarre EV spreads that don't match the sets being used and you don't get to preview opponent teams.

They have to side step powercreep as much as they can without devolving into 'BST number bigger' too hard, a game can only be so complex until it needs to revamp its core mechanics which GF is reluctant to do.

Beauty contests were fun asf. It was cool having a separate team for it. I also like secret bases but it looks like they might be bringing that back in the DLC.
There's no reason they can't have every gimmick in a game and just stop making new ones

I don't think people would care so much if GF didn't create the expectation of things carrying over to the next title for the first 20 years. Megas carried over from gen 6 to 7, so there was an expectation that they would return in gen 8.
Gen 8 then established that not only are your old Pokémon no longer guaranteed to come back in the next game, but the gimmicks are transient too. This is why people think that making a new gimmick in the first place is a waste of time, because it'll just be scrapped in 3 years time.
What happened with gen 8 damaged any good faith I personally had with GF, I can't bring myself to like the new stuff when there's a 50% it'll never see the light of day beyond its first appearance.
