Far from my favorite bug type or flying type, I just recently found out about its stats and was surprised about how crap it is. It is not hard to buff a pokemon or at least have some useful niche use. But this is not that useful for even that.
I think it looks cool tho, and I think I might try to catch one in Diamond for the Pokemon Contest. I just hope its movepool will be decent for that too
What's weirds is that the common "Gen 2 mons all suck lol " stereotype especially doesn't apply here because Gen 2 is exactly when they started allowing to Bug types to have be good or at least have niches other an early game fodder. And later Gens have been fairy good to the other Gen 2 Bugs. Even Ariados got several decent utility moves, an actual ability, and a 10+ BST increase, its still the bottom of the barrel but at least its in the barrel unlike Ledian.
Even weirder, if the leaks are true, then Ledian is literally the only Gen2 Pokémon that won't be in a Switch game outside of BDSP, (Unown managed to make it into Legends and even got a buff via Hidden Power being super effective against everything and being the only Pokemon allowed to keep Hidden Power).

True, why would you ever want a Ledian when Butterfree is available at the exact same time and it is vastly more usuble (not good mind you but still usuble at least). And of course Heracross makes every other bug irrelevant a few routes later

Ice Punch and Headbutt would still make that miserable to play against.
Freeze needs to be reworked (What legends did was interesting but I don't think Frostbite is the solution), as for Flinch, just make it so that pokemon can not be flinched by the same move 2 twice in a row.

I had a similar idea for it, just get rid of the .25% modifier and only have it only apply to punching attacks. It's stats are so low that it would still only be doing chip damage and would only be fishing for whatever flinch or status it can apply. Just now if it fails it at least gets in a little damage instead of basically nothing.
The downside is there'd be a million complaints about machamp not having the ability too, but oh well.
Give it dynamic punch too, or a similar move with higher accuracy and a lower chance to confuse. Doesn't have to be a move exclusive to it.
Now that would be enough to make ledian broken. Even on the back of 35 base attack a 4x damage multiplier on attacks combined with the flat stats you get from EVs and IVs is equivalent to a base attack of fricking 280. You even have set-up with power-up punch, priority with mach punch, and solid coverage with high status chance with ice punch and thunder punch.
Ugliest gen 2 mon and ugliest bug type, it was so funny to me when they literally made "Ledian but better" in gen 8 instead of giving it anything.
