it's literally only hated because youtubers told everybody that hackazaki didn't direct it.

What if they intentionally included goofy parts to keep myazaki valued. Cynic thought, but still.

It's the main reason why celebrity worshippers like Redditmatosis dislike it

        Correct.

It's literally because of the MMO tier monster designs, repeated content from past games, awkward movement and melee combat, and lack of cohesive visual design or anything of artistic value. Ironically the best thing about the game is that it puts you in lots of gank clusterfrick situations which requires a more fun type of skill than the typical 1v1 fights the series focuses on now.

DS1, DS3, Sekiro, ER...dont have lighting half this good but somehow it's 2's fault for being the only one with dynamic lighting. Amazing moron fanbase.

    >ADP
    >shitboxes
    >there's some rubble in the way so go kill four powerful beings
    >unsatisfying animations
    >downgraded lighting (false advertising)
    >inconsistent environments, some rooms look N64-tier
    >enemies turn on a dime
    >shit bosses
    >brought back level-up npc even though bonfire leveling was better
    >soul memory
    >terrible level design
    >obnoxious enemy placement
    >nonsensical world design
    >boring lore

Is it the worst game ever made? Of course not. It's still a Souls game and is enjoyable enough for one playthrough. But it's a goddamn mess.

Hitboxes aren't shit. Enemies just have invincibility frames during a dodge, same as you. Some of these are legit criticisms tbf tho

Don’t forget gems like durability being tied to frame rate and basic attack animations that drag the weapon along the ground and frick it up. Also not a fan of them releasing the same game on PC twice instead of patching it, though at this point they’ve done that to the original dark souls as well.

No. Its genuinely terrible because they missed all the points of why dark souls was good, instead they made a epic le hard game.

its tedious trash, you're right its not hard at all. Which makes it even more pathetic.

the level design is just so uninspired and full of giant square rooms full of repeating textures. its right up there with kings field 1

Explicitly contrarian game design is not 'experimental', it's just stupid and makes you look stupid

I really enjoyed the DLC but even then, most of it would be better with 50% less enemies. I don't know why they thought they had to put all the enemies everywhere.

      >I don't know why they thought they had to put all the enemies everywhere.
I read that the lead designer was being blackmailed by the japanese mafia and they told him that if he didnt put more monsters in the game, they were gonna expose his gambling addiction

    >you hated it because it was too experimental
    >you hated it because big bad youtube said so
all we're missing is now is "you hated it because it was too hard for you" and we'll have the trifecta of the most moronic, tired, substanceless dark souls 2 defences.

DS2 is one of the best Souls games. Don't care about some low resolution trees or textures on a ceiling. The gameplay has the perfect speed, all playstyles are viable, tons of build variety, the best armor in the series, functioning multiplayer, the best DLC, hundreds of hours of gameplay on your first run alone. It even attempted a semi-interesting story that wasn't le fire fades. Awesome game
