DQ3 deserved a real full 3d remake with 11's engine not this shit

      I even would've taken a style similar to the 3D mode in DQ11 3DS.
What we've seen of the "HD2D" remake genuinely looks like a sidegrade to the SFC remake from 1996

Square Enix needs to get its head out of its ass and stop making shit look like Octopath.
Blurriness will never look good, no matter how many filters they slap on it.

        >What we've seen of the "HD2D" remake genuinely looks like a sidegrade to the SFC remake from 1996
I have no stakes in this but imma just interject with the fact that Enix loves creating shitty ports that are worse than one released previously although they sometimes knock it out of the park.

Why does everything square makes look like shit now? DQ11 looked good, every single game that came out after that looks disgusting.

I like Re[in]carnation, Voice of Cards, The Quiet Man, Slightly undercooked but polished Drakengard 3 but still more polished than Drag-on Dragoon III: Pt 2 - electric boogaloo: The Valkyriest of profiles by sleep & Dungeon encounters.
If we're willing to give or take a few months I'd even throw Automata (my least favourite DoD/NieR game in) and SaGa Scarlet Grace and after the demo: Emerald Beyond. Maybe even SoP for how surprisingly refreshing it was but I'm still not sure if Nojima intended it to be that way.
I'm leaving replicant off the list for both personal reasons and because remakester. You can almost certainly see where my bias is.
Only one of the titles listed above was a joke btw

idk if you're coming at it from a graphicsgay standpoint only because most of the games are ugly but there's still some good among the absolute heaps and heaps of shit and ports they put out.
I know a lot of the games are not graphicsgay material but they still had solid art styles along with their gameplay.
Even among all the shit I ignore or don't consider to be good from a gameplay standpoint in the "why was this made" category with art styles I don't like, they still have good flashes of good design work in them.
There's been a bunch of interesting titles in some form since then, certainly more interesting than their output in the preceding 5 years since DQ XI.

Like what angle are you coming at from it? The graphicsgay one or one like "SE have done nothing of note since XI"? Or how unappealing their 2d style A & AA titles have been?

The perfect version of DQ3 already exists (SNES) so there's no point in it being remade.

I agree. The original is plenty good.

So lets say this remake this with the golden sun style battles, menus, etc. I wish they would just stop there, maybe add some new jobs and remaster the music. I wouldnt want a remake, but a definitive version would be worth the money. The problem is these remakes are often made by people who didnt play the original. So something is always a downgrade and its infuriating.

No, there needs to be a version where the class change retains the original "character" but changes their clothes to the new class. So like male mage to martial artist would be an old bearded man in the MA gi and female thief to fighter would have the dark skin, short white hair with the fighter's armor. I guess you would need to come up some way to fit in the original Sages' designs, but the female priest already looks like the female sage and I don't think anyone would give a frick if they made the male gadabout look more like the male sage instead of a fat gay clown.

as soon as i saw that the battle perspective switches to first person when the fight starts, i said "what's the fricking point then" and closed the video.
just play it on gbc or snes. and as for 12, that's also a big "who cares" to me.

    >DQ3 remake
Ok why do people care about this? Can't you guys already play the game? Its and you don't even have to pay for it. Why bother to remake a game that's good? Only bad games deserve remakes.
    >It might be for the best if DQ 12 gets canceled.
Why? they haven't even released any footage yet

We care because dw3 is a classic. Its one of the best of all time. It defined a genre for multiple generations. People from 30-60 right now fondly remember dw3.

It was also one of the first full color games and it still looks beautiful. The whole game just feels lush and colorful. Reminds me of oracle of seasons with the art but obviously that was like 7 years later

Toyotaro wouldn't become the DQ artist.
Toriyama already didn't do most of DQ's art since VIII pretty much, hence why the work is credited to his studio- Bird Studio. His staff there already worked on DQ and imitated his style to do it, and much of the official DQ art that is posted for X and XI is not actually done by Toriyama, rather it's by people from Bird Studio.

Toyotaro works for Shueisha and is contracted to work for Dragon Ball. Dragon Quest involves several completely different companies, none of them being Shueisha.

uhhhhhhhhh I'm gonna go ahead and put a solid bet on any one of the Yoshida slop house style artists SE is in love with but likely Yoshida.
I'll also place a little action on Nomura or Oda just for fun.

        I hope not
I like Yoshida, but God that style does not fit DQ at all.
They might find someone who can emulate the old style, or at least something as unique, so that DQ wont lose its charm.

those money grubbing Black folk. They aren't doing this because they love the game. They aren't doing it for the fans. They don't give a frick about this series or what it means. Frick em. That's not the game I grew up with.
