>no healing >no checkpoints >no quicksaving >failing subobjectives causes mission fails or the game to get harder >expending the limited ammo for your silenced weapon will make the game harder by spawning more enemies >actually have to put effort into aiming and finding the objectives
yep. its pcgay filter time.
>You made this up.
nah. shooting too many hostages, shooting objects required to complete mission, escorts dying, goldeneye being activated with a time limit, etc. kys gay.
Failing subobjectives does not make the game "harder". If you don't do additional objectives on harder levels, you fail the mission. If you don't do them where they're not required, you don't make the level harder. You're full of shit
I'm married with kids. Seethe more poor boy. I has playing online multilayer games years before you knew they existed.

Thats nothing to be proud of. Look I actually like goldeneye. I had fun playing it with my friends. But at that time there was a thriving online scene on pc and pc shooters were infintetly better. Trying to say they suck now and the console game's you plaid were better is just sad and pathetic.

Halo is a great single-player campaign but I’ve never been able to stomach the multiplayer because it’s so interminably slow compared to the likes of Quake and Unreal.

Tell that to the halo kiddies.

Chances are you don't stomach any multiplayer because Quake and Unreal are both DEAD. but yeah I larp a bot match every now and then like it's still the real deal.
God I miss objective-based shooters instead of linear shooting galleries.
I like PD and Timesplitters 2 way more than Goldeneye, but you’ve got to respect it for laying the groundwork. I’ll take a game that prioritizes map design over nice-looking character models any day.
I feel like goldeneye is the perfect example of a game that brings out nostalgia vision. People talk like it's the greatest game ever but legit haven't played it in 20+ years.
It was amazing for the time but very dated now. A lot of framerate issues and lag. Lag gave it a cinematic quality at times, but it still cheapens the experience overall. The game is fantastic from a design standpoint though -- variety and depth of missions and maps, diversity of weapons and gun control, difficulty that affects mission objects... It's really fricking good, excellent and fun cheats to unlock... It's just dated.
From a design standpoint alone, it's better than most games nowadays, especially FPSes.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about their memories with HL1 deathmatch. I never owned Goldeneye or played the missions but I loved multiplayer as a kid
Because it wasn't that long after that Counter-Strike became available and that quickly became the dominant multiplayer shooter on PC. As far as most people were concerned, CS was Half-Life's multiplayer mode.
I don't now about you but I played a lot of hl deathmatch. I still play it once in a while. A lot of people played it. There was still tons of players for years after hl2 has released.
I think it's just a console vs PC divide. PC players had a bunch of multiplayer shooters throughout the 90s. A lot of console players first exposure to that was goldeneye splitscreen
>Calling me an edgelord because I don't put his first person shooter on a pedestal
Also since when things being popular means they are automatically good? Are you gonna argue that fortnite and apex legends are the pinnacle of first person shooters these days because they rake the most revenues and are popular?
Half life 1 was extremely bland and I do believe it's overrated, if you can't deal with different opinions then stick to an echo chamber.
Apex is just casualized titanfall for people who need to blame their teamates when they lose instead of trying to improve. Just like what MOBAs are to RTS games.
>Apex is just casualized titanfall for people
k. >VERY HARD to pull off a respawn, almost useless late game >higher ttk deliberately requires more effort to kill opponents, not a single weapon oneshots anyone except kraber on basic armor (with a headshot) >most weapons are ballistics, any hitscan weapons are midtier weapons >much more complex gunfights with 3 v 3 v3 v3, etc. possible shootouts >more intricate and larger environments compared to TF2's gay 3 lane maps

Sounds exactly like what an asshomosexuals player would say to act like his garbage requires more skill than starcraft. Complete copium of the highest quality.

concessions accepted. srry ur game a has lower skill ceiling than fricking COD.
I agree titanfall 2 is better. But at least it's a decent movement shooter that requires skill in a day and age where most people play tactical shooters so they can camp all day.
It's on xbox gamepass so I installed it. Obviously there's a nostalgia factor here. You have to understand that if you were a kid growing up in the 90s, this was literally unlike anything you had ever seen on your TV screen. What feels primitive today was exhilarating back then.
Playing through it again, I still think it's well done. In particular the SFX/visual effect of shooting an enemy feels very visceral - you actually hear the bullets impact the body and see a little explosion on their skin.
I can't be objective about it because it's impossible to separate from the nostalgia.

Goldeneye is one of those games that legitimately look so bad that it's hard to even look at. Perfect Dark looks a thousand times better.

I played it a week ago on Xbox and it's great
What's wrong with his mouth?
goldeneye has no enemy variety, it's just guys with guns the whole game
should there be werewolves or something lol
you mean like guard dogs or something? sure
You got Oddjob. He's low enough to the ground to count.

fortnite is better than CS and has a higher skill ceiling than most FPS and im tired of pretending it doesnt
if ur argument is popular = bad, ur just as fallacious and gay.
Fortnite and apex are unironically good. They require skill to play which is way you console babies hate on them.
Apex is just casualized titanfall for people who need to blame their teamates when they lose instead of trying to improve. Just like what MOBAs are to RTS games.

I can't be objective about it because it's impossible to separate from the nostalgia.
I like how most of the levels are short and sweet, it's not a bloating game
Doak said the Valve even told him that Goldeneye forced them to redo a lot of stuff for Half-Life.
>Goldeneye thread
>the autistic pcbros start crying about Halo for some reason

We can peg you halo babies based on your stupid opinions. That's why.
Perfect Dark made it obsolete tbh
Forgot about the stimfights, so kino.
I would still rather play goldeneye 4 player splitscreen pistols only license to kill mode over perfect dark. It just hits different.
Would Kawasaki hiroshima that ass
Posting this throwback so someone might get something good out of this thread.

Anyways how was the movement in Goldeneye 007?
