I was having a hard time getting my shit rekt by biters because for the longest time I was still creating mad pollution from the starter steam engines making power when I had those turbine things and solar panels unlocked for ages but didn't know to use them. I am currently in my second playthrough. I am trying hard to automate shit but I get lost in my own conveyor belts of mess and still keep doing shit myself. I need to learn how those robot things work too. Your screenshot factory looks very neat and clean. I wish I could make my shit look/work efficient.

You can probably start another run with different designs or ideas in mind, and let me tell you, robots are a godsend
A nice trick I'll try recommending you is, try to get very basic trains that pick up ore and drop them on smelteries, and then ship those plates by train to your base. Dont try to be smart at first, just get it working somehow, use as many trains as you need, and then once its working, try to be smart about it

Factorio is still king. Satisfactory is the video game equivalent of stepping on something wet in the dark while wearing socks.
Staisfactory isnt all bad. Its just very difficult to ramp up any sort of production easily. And shit takes FOREVER to craft enough to launch the needle.
Satisfactory makes it a massive pain in the ass to actually build your factory

The exploration in that game is fun but the actual factory part fricking sucks
having to work with biomass for awhile before getting coal is the biggest pain to me. assemblers are slow as hell making smart plates, too
being able to walk around your factory once it's finished in 3d is super comfy

Dyson Sphere Program. Chinese Factorio. It's solid. Not as good as Factorio if you can only choose one but it's still solid. When you get your dyson swarms/spheres going it will absolutely stun you at some point. Like you'll just be setting up miners and you'll catch the sunrise with your dyson swarm lazily zipping around the star and you'll just sit there and stare at it for a while.

i have hundreds of hours in this game, but never fully understood the oil system. No matter how many derricks i build, how many pipelines, oil always remains the bottleneck. is there only so much oil that can be used at a time?

How are you delivering oil to your refineries then? If you're using extremely long oil pipelines then you need to make sure to place pumps every so often so that the pressure keeps up. Otherwise you'll only get a trickle of oil in over long distances.
If you're using trains with oil wagons then I don't know, I'd have to see your setup.

Also if you didn't know - use underground pipes as much as you can instead of normal pipes (fluid flow is instant underground)
Sounds like you aren't properly "balancing" your petroleum, light, and heavy oils. If any of the tanks holding your output oil get full then the refineries will stop producing ALL oils. You need to make sure to convert all your excess heavy oil into light oil, then light oil into petroleum.
Well hard to say what you're doing wrong without a screenshot, but let me assure you that proper handling of fluids is possible.
Do you really need that much fluids? I find 2-4 tanks can keep up with most productions.
