I've started to play it again today. What does the first spell you get exactly do besides turning you blue.
Does every town have a mage or wizard because I find the first but not the second.
How the frick do I beat those knights that block. I haven't really developed a strategy there. I just duck and go up and press up hoping that this brings up the shield which sometimes work and I just smash the attack key
blue? do you mean red
that's kind of the problem. games that are just sort of middling are -- hear me out -- sometimes worse theoretically than outright bad games, because you end up playing some or all of it and then just feel like you wasted your time. an outright terrible game, you play it for 20 minutes, laugh, and move on, probably with a funny memory to share
keep seething that people like this game. its my favorite game ever, how about that? impossible i bet.
the overworld is completely bland and uninspired. theres what, two "secrets" in it? breaking the rocks and getting rid of that monster, both of which arent even secrets as they are required to progress. compare that to the first game that had bombable walls, burning bushes, pushing rocks with the power bracelet, etc. the first game was full of the joy of discovery. zelda 2 has none of it and instead bombards you with absolutely shit tier random encounters that no one even plays. the entire game is just walking left or right to get out of the random encounter as you make your way to the next palace. the encounter rate is so obnoxious at the end of the game i dont know how anyone tolerates it.
Zoom-zoom, everything in your post tells me you never played it but watched some sloptubers video. >encounters that no one even plays
ESL, what does this even mean? That you run into every palace underleveled? LMAO
But enough of your mom's reviews of my dick, let's discuss AoL and how bizarre it is that a bunch of losers decided at some point to base their whole identity on claiming it's anything more than a bland but competent game.
And that's the problem, because there are countless action adventure games that are somewhat better than zelda 2 like battle of olympus or faxanadu that, despite being better games, are completely ignored. Don't waste your time discussing inferior games just because it doesn't feature your favorite protagonist.
The important thing is that we never ever let Zelda 2 stray far from our thoughts. Is it good? Is it bad? Either way, it is the most important entity in all of the universe. It is our source of energy. Let us discuss it until the end of time, and in that way, give ourselves eternal life.
Fully 18% of the average /vr/ user's brain is devoted solely to the contemplation of Zelda 2's quality level. The question of whether it's good or bad CANNOT ever be answered, yet pondering it is the one thing that keeps us alive.
Thank you OP for injecting another round of vitality into us all.

Oh wow I never knew that's how. Thank you but is this the official way they intended you to beat them because you still get some hits from them. I want to do it so that they don't harm me at all. Still a great strategy. Thank you.

No. I got the first spell in a town where a woman tells me I can find spells everywhere and I think it's called shield and turns me blue. I'm playing the Redux hack but I've enabled original nes graphics.
A simple jumpy stab move defeats shields on I think all enemies that block your attacks with shields in that way. I've done it that way since I was a kid but I've never seen it recommended by any official or commercial source (such as Nintendo Power). I doubt that it's intended but who knows.
Preventing the enemy from harming you is up to your skills at finessing your movements and your timing. You'll just have to work out a rhythm. Good luck.
The shield spell increases your defense so that you don't take as much damage. When your outfit goes back to the normal color, the spell is no longer working. I don't know whether the hack you're using changes anything about it other than the color - in the normal game it turns Link's clothes brownish red, not blue.
my internet is slow, and eventually the download cuts out and can't resume. itch.io gives out some kind of verification ticket temporarily for downloads but it lasts shorter than it takes for me to finish the download.

It's a good game it just doesn't scratch the Zelda itch, I'd rather play Second Quest
id rather play legacy of the wizard tbqhimhhop.
based
Thank you
I never got anywhere in that game as a kid. Not having the manual certainly didn't help matters.
BotW in Fauxanadu forme
what a beautiful map.
It's honestly one of my all time favorite games.

It's better than botw/totk
the dark souls 2 of zelda games

DROPPED
It's exciting and flavorful, pleb.

After playing other Zelda games, I welcomed something different and harder.
Well idk about "harder". It's mostly more obtuse and chore-ish.
look at him go

Wrong picture.
Faxanadu is promoted here almost as often as Zelda 2 is, and unlike Zelda 2 it receives nearly zero negative criticism here
You are wrong on both accounts. In fact, zelda 2 is one of the most debated titles despite the fact that better zeldas exists like the capcom titles.
Don't post when drunk please
2D character action games = bonafide frustration.

In other words: lives rent free in our heads

You jump stab them in the face.

Works for me. What browser and OS are you using?

I can see how you might think it's boring if you die constantly.
Zelda 2 is one of my favorite games. In the top 3 in the series for me.
