80% of PC games don't work on Linux. Multiplayer games don't work because of anti-cheat. Launchers don't work. Piracy doesn't work. Emulators are shit. Everything is bugged. And you literally have to emulate Windows if you want to make it usable. The superior operating system

          Anonymous

Virtually all of my games work. The only one that doesn't is DBFZ because of anti-cheat, but that comes down to the developers refusing to enable to support for the EAC runtime. Other games that use EAC like Elden Ring work fine. With the exception of cemu and xenia, emulators are a better experience on linux than they are on windows.

I've tried. Most were actually broken. Wouldn't start at all. The rest wouldn't work with controllers. I shouldn't have to spend my time troubleshooting every game that works perfectly on windows for absolutely no benefit.

There is no way 1200 x 800 beats 2560x1600 just because it's OLED. The Lenovo Legion Go has highest ratings for IPS display. You can see pixels in 1200 x 800.

          >There is no way 1200 x 800 beats 2560x1600 just because it's OLED.
Of course there is, at that size and that PPI OLED matters way more than resolution. Not to mention the fact that you have to lower the graphical settings significantly to even run modern games at 2560x1600 on the Go.
          >I can play every multiplayer game and I don't need to tweak settings or emulate windows to get my games to work. Same with piracy.. I just direct download .exe games. One step.
In exchange the entire system is shit to navigate. You also don't need to tweak settings or "emulate Windows" to get games to work on the Deck. However it's not even true that you don't need to tweak settings on the Go; there are lots of games that have issues with the Go's portrait mode screen:

          ?t=40
And finally you can just install Windows on the Deck, if you want a shittier experience for some reason.
          >Both are shit for high performance games
          The Go's is significantly worse.
          >Not true
It is true, the Steam Deck outperforms the Go at 10 watts and below.

          ?t=345

            > matters way more than resolution.
Not true at all. You won't find any reviewer saying that. I've read/watched them all and they all admit the resolution on the Deck is not good and pixelated compared to any other handheld.
            > to get games to work on the Deck.
Yes you do. Steam Deck unsupported games list is 5069 results and that's not including games that work but where the controllers don't work and need tweaking.
            >The Go's is significantly worse.
Yeah because the screen is not 1280x800. Set the resolution to 1280x800 and test them both

Also is this youtuber you because you look like a guy who lets his girlfriend fricks Black folk no offense.

Something isn't true just because a reviewer says it, but you can go ahead and try and quote some.
              >Yes you do. Steam Deck unsupported games list is 5069 results and that's not including games that work but where the controllers don't work and need tweaking.
And when those games get supported you won't need to tweak settings or "emulate" windows in order to play them, they'll just work. Meanwhile the Go has issues with RDR2 and tons of older titles due to its janky portrait mode display:

              ?t=782
              >Yeah because the screen is not 1280x800. Set the resolution to 1280x800 and test them both
Then the Steam Deck will still win, because the Go's battery is smaller and its APU is also less efficient than the Steam Deck's.
Btw you forgot to reply to you getting btfo regarding the Deck running games better at lower wattages.

You do NOT need a 2560x1600 resolution for such a tiny screen. Total waste of processing power.

The Nintendo Switch is fricking 1280x720 and it's crisp. 1280x800 for Steam Deck is fine. 2560x1600 is complete overkill.

Consider that 1920x1080 is still the standard for normal gaming monitors, and you really think a small handheld in your hands needs even more than that? LOL

          >There is no way 1200 x 800 beats 2560x1600 just because it's OLED.
It does when you will be running every AAA game in 800p on said Go and it is a lot more noticable on an 8.8" screen than a 7" screen. Only indie games and older games can benefit from that high a resolution and the battery life will be awful. The best thing about the Go's resolution is that it scales well with 800p so you can use it's extra GPU cores for better performance.

Now I understand the display choice is dictated by display manufacturers being unwilling to make custom screens, but you really are better of getting switch or steamdeck displays into your handheld for that very reason. However when you are chinese businessman this is not how you see it. Making competent device with specs fit for its purpose is much worse than printing "4k resolution" on the box in large bold letters.

Valve gave them an option to upload Steam Deck specific builds with smaller textures but so far nobody ever used it, having to download 150 GB games on this thing just to play them at 720p, sometimes with FSR and textures on low, feels wrong.

      cheapest OLED

      >And how bad is the battery life really?
      varies wildly on the game

It's best in class for playing old games and emulating. If you want to play more modern stuff it struggles hard and is surpassed by the Rog Ally and Legion GO. I mean it struggles running Palworld ffs

this fricking black deck is huge, not a handheld in my book
i'm unironically thinking of buying onexfly used for $700 but I dunno.. maybe I should wait for muh dream handheld (bigger than vita/more comfortable to hold - run indie games at 60fps 800p - 4h battery life)

All that describes the steam deck though. You can run indies at 800p 60fps.

        exactly, especially the oled model
BUT what if I wanted that in a small chassis with a $500 price tag? doesn't exist, and I dunno how many years do I have to wait.. even the msi claw and asus ally are quote big

only if it has a better battry and buttons for the asking price

Will probably be a long wait since people that want enough power will want a larger screen/good controller. Its harder to fit full size sticks on something only a bit larger than a vita (actual good sticks). See if there are any used steam decks on facebook market or whatever for a cheaper price.

the odin 2 has the best design imo. comfortable to hold and not that big with overall good buttons, sadly it's a fricking android device

I'd actually say the Rog Ally, while on sale, is the best portable handheld hands down. But at full price for like $700? Nah frick that.

Is there any good android emulator? I want to play my gachaslop on my deck to finally be able to ignore my phone forever.

The best you'll get is bluestacks.

Unfortunately all the handhelds that fit that description are Chinese, Loki, Air, Air Plus, GPD Win 4 and most of them a bit expensive.
Right now Ayn seems to be selling out their stock of Loki 6600u ($449) and Loki Max 6800u($499) handhelds. Personally I have a Deck and am patiently waiting for a smaller mainstream device.

What indie games are you trying to play in particular? Pic related can emulate the PS2/GC library and run pretty much any indie that got ported to android while being half the price of a deck.

yeah for that I got pic related, it can emulate up to psp for $70 AND I don't have to go through android shenanigans since it has an already configured linux front (waiting for to arrive)
that should keep me entertained until a smallish pc handheld with a reasonable prise exist

is the steam deck actually worth it? my hacked 3ds is on its last legs so I've been thinking about getting one for emulation

The Steam Deck is the current best emulation machine, at least if you get the OLED.

Its great with a normal one anon. The insides are the same other than the better screen.

The battery is bigger and the APU is more efficient on the OLED, which gives a pretty significant battery life boost. The fan is better, too.

Depends on what you're emulating. This is literally the best in class if you're planning on just going to PS2.

Until another umpc understands how to blend convenience with freedom like the deck and does it better, it'll remain unsurpassed.
