Both Hardware is at a standstill and subscriptions have either plateaued in the case of Microsoft. Or are dropping in the case of Sony. Console hardware has a finite cap of 100 million buyers though with revised projections and even with GTA VI it's estimated to be lower than last gen.
The real question is what existing franchise is getting a new game in april next year. They've been killing off so many franchises that there aren't many options. Wolverine might count as existing franchise as part of Marvel I guess.
Switch 2 with graphical capabilities of PS4 and 10GB of RAM would potentially blow the shit out of other consoles.

The disappointing holiday sales, the very expensive game developments, the move to digital which means less blu-ray royalties, the insomniac leak, and the lack of exclusive PS5 titles are just several of the factors I believe are indicating Sony may actually drop out of the console Market this decade. Microsoft might pull out due to the bad Xbox performance but also might drop out because they probably see a trend that will make supporting a home console very disadvantageous in the near future. Either Taiwan getting attacked by China or some imminent supply chain issue or market collapse in the tech sector.

Their older games don't carry over when everyone owned a PS4 and barely anyone owned a Xbone in comparison and Sony still has better exclusives when you're only comparing consoles and take PC out of the equation, which a lot of consumers do. Am I the only one that quite enjoyed the uncharted series ? I know a lot of people don’t like the movie type games, but I liked the characters and the story, also nate and elena are probably the best couple in all video games
The Uncharted games were pretty fun but it felt like it was time for the series to take a break after 3 and 4 felt like they had to make as it was a safe bet rather than a new IP like GoT with Suckerpunch for PS4. I like uncharted way more than TLoU but I don't understand half the hype it gets.

By most metrics it would be deemed a failure. I believe ps5s sell at a loss and games are so god damn expensive to make these days that the profit margins are diminished. It isn't like Nintendo who sells hardware usually for a profit then make cheaper less technologically advanced titles that dell just as well if not more than a typical Playstation game. Say what you will about if that method is a good thing or not, Nintendo had a structure that guarantees a relatively steady profit margin and less volatile than Sony or Microsoft when it comes to gaming. I also don't think those billions of dollars in acquisitions have helped

Having an entire hardware ecosystem pinned on three different action games that come out every 7 years doesn't exactly seem like an awesome plan to me. By most metrics it would be deemed a failure. I believe ps5s sell at a loss and games are so god damn expensive to make these days that the profit margins are diminished. It isn't like Nintendo who sells hardware usually for a profit then make cheaper less technologically advanced titles that dell just as well if not more than a typical Playstation game. Say what you will about if that method is a good thing or not, Nintendo had a structure that guarantees a relatively steady profit margin and less volatile than Sony or Microsoft when it comes to gaming. I also don't think those billions of dollars in acquisitions have helped

They are moving too slow. What are they going to do? Greenlight some new projects that come out in 2031?
