runescape is one of the most soulless games ever and has always been a piece of shit.
but no you dont want to move on you sad fucking 30 year old
woah pedo has an opinion
not a pedo
Yes the game has an exponential leveling system, your point?
>game devs thinks no one will reach this 'ludicrous number'
What a dumbass.
None of the devs actually thought that you retarded gorilla moron; it’s like that to get people invested in the game while also justifying having incredibly powerful items/skills.
You are actually stupid, and the devs literally made the EXP this way to dissuade players from wasting their time. Turns out gamers are the best time wasters and biggest fucking losers on the planet and actually reached 99 in a skill. Want proof it was never really in the pudding to hit these skills caps?
Smithing.
Shut up and never talk about something you don't fucking know anything about ever again.
the game fucking sucks stop playing it lol. its not rewarding.
just stop man, go back to bbc posting.
Yo, true.
True.
This guy is speaking the truth.
Truing.
Truly truthful.
True.
It's some sort of divine comedy that the aspect of the game the Gower Brothers cared the least about is the one everyone obsesses over, and all of the world-building and quests that they put their heart and soul into is brushed to the side by the hordes of number-huffing, wiki-slurping, poop-socking MMO addicts. Even that fucking 2 hour long RuneScape documentary has that fucking gay spending 1/3rd of the video listing off names on the high scores charts. No mention about shit like the intern program Jagex used to get random college students to write quests. Number addicts are a fucking plague on MMOs and vidya in general, and (Old School) RuneScape is the last bastion of the MMO genre that still has something to offer players other than endless grinding
>RuneScape is the last bastion of the MMO genre that still has something to offer players other than endless grinding
like what?
The quests have more effort put into them than 99% of modern rpgs and all other MMOs. It really shows what kind of subhumans are attracted to the MMO genre when most of them only do the quests strictly necessary to increse their xp/hr.
its only a couple of short quests a year though. and why did you specify osrs?
I can't speak on RuneScape3 because I've never played it. Yeah the output is slow nowadays but there's still two decades worth of quests to go through
RS3 actually has some pretty good questing content if you can deal with the rest of the game.
so its not really different from another mmo if theres no good stuff coming out once you've done those quests
The difference is that I know when to stop playing a game and you don't
but i stopped playing in 2014 after doing the quests again. you?
I don't believe you, not when you're asking what to do in your 200th hour of playtime after finishing all of the quests
theres plenty of things to do, but i have no interest in doing them and you seem to have admitted its not different from another mmo besides those quests
I said that much in my first post. There are numbers in the game that go up, addicts will be attracted to those numbers and will milk them for thousands of hours. People who enjoy videogames will experience the quests and then leave for greener pastures. The quests alone make it the greatest MMO on the market right now because every other MMO has nothing
no it doesnt because other mmos can be fun besides doing some quests once
I don't doubt that making numbers go up is fun to an addict
other mmos have better pvp
PvP without risk is like a youth sports league. What MMO do people still play today where risk is a factor in PvP? RuneScape PvP has risk
Which MMO? The "run fingers over num keys" one or maybe the "push single macro button" mmo?
OSRS has decent bossing and raid content as well, but a lot of it depends heavily on your tolerance for tick manipulation.
yeh i dont like that and runelite looks like it does it for you lol
using num keys doesnt break my wrists i guess
Runescape 2 he probably means
RuneScape quests truly are special, when I came back to RS as an adult I really appreciated the world building that I had neglected as a child. There's nothing like it RS has some of the best storytelling in gaming period.
One of the most ambitious point-and-click adventure experiences ever created. The quests in RuneScape not only blow other MMO quests out of the water, but mog even most singleplayer RPGs from the last decade and a half. They are varied, well-written, feature challenging and inventive puzzles and bosses, and offer significant, often game-changing rewards. The quests make you feel less like an errand boy and more like an adventurer exploring the world, like any good RPG should
Half of them were written by interns too.
That's the best part, ~~*career writers*~~ will always be shit because they're just failed movie writers or novelists. The random schmuck programmer with an interest in vidya will always make a better story because they have a better understanding of how to integrate storytelling with gameplay
I love that Desert Treasure was apparently an absolute clusterfuck coded by someone who didn't even know what an MMO was and it got retrofitted into being a vehicle for both the most iconic quest reward and the most important lore reveal in the entire game.
what’s the lore behind it? never did dt
The lore for the quest is that there was a super strong follower of an ancient god that couldn't be killed so he was locked inside a pyramid, and during the quest you accidentally set him free while trying to get treasure. But also during the quest you get a ring that lets you see invisible ghosts which lets you do a secret quest where you talk to a bunch of invisible ghosts that gradually reveal that the ancient god was Zaros and the reason he disappeared is because Zamorak betrayed him and stole his godhood.
i love everything about this quest. it's perfect
Which one the old version or the new one?
I haven't played RuneScape 3, I can only comment on OSRS
So the new version
What's the difference?
Ruined graphics, chud politics, bloat
So OSRS?
Yes, the new version.
copium
Which graphics, what bloat?
I liked the communal aspect of it, tricking new players into Draynor Manor by pretending to be a tour guide was the funniest shit.
>Number addicts are a fucking plague on MMOs and vidya in general,
I'm seeing damage numbers and random loot stats shit becoming the norm and it's fucking disgusting.
>It's a singlepayer game has loot rarity and gear numbers episode.
Devs that do this deserve to be shot out of a cannon into the sun.
>login to OSRS
>no dailies
>no purchasable xp boosts
>no premium currency
>no limited time sales
>no limited time bundles
Just how God intended MMO's to be
to OSRS
>>no dailies
anon, I...
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Repeatable_events#Daily_events
To be fair most of these are only useful for ironmemes.
I buy the staves, list them, and then ignore the rest.
The only that matters slightly is actually weekly
reminder to do your dailies, fellow osrs players
Or maybe people don't want to waste time on muh comfy roleplaying once they bought X months of subscription?
>it's a waste of time if my numbers don't get bigger
You're the problem
>numbers get bigger quicker when I pay
>numbers get bigger slower once my payment runs out
A mystery
Pay what? RuneScape membership is completely free to anyone competent, 5-6 million gp is easy
Better to work a McJob for 1hr to get a month of membership than grind 5-6mil for 10hrs in F2P
You aren't getting 5-6 mil in 10 hours F2P
Wiki says you can make 600k+/hr by high alching F2P items, results may vary depending on GE prices
Early game sure, buy a membership. But you become self-sufficient quickly enough to afford bonds
>I need bigger numbers because it will allow me to get bigger numbers in the future
A bleak existence
Then why play an MMO? Why play anything when there are films and books? "Number go bigger" was a thing since Pong you retard
>Then why play an MMO?
I play OSRS for the quests, minigames, and clan activities
>why play multiplayer when a book exists
>I need my internet friends but don't you dare care about numbers in a game
>I have no freinds
It's okay bud maybe one day someone will want to be around you
Yeah I'm sure xXxTittifuckr69xXx is your soulmate for life.
That is the question. "Why play an MMO?" Why did people start playing MMOs? Even the earliest and most influential MMOs like EverQuest consisted entirely of "get some players together and stand around a group of mob spawns and farm them for hours until you're strong enough for the next group of mob spawns." I'll tell you why people used to play MMOs: player interaction. The Internet as a whole was new and exciting back then, the prospect of playing the same game with hundreds of other real people at the same time was revolutionary. The MMOs themselves were completely barebones and easy because the meat of the game was interacting with other players. Sitting in a group together getting to know your group mates while you grind exp, PvP with real risk that not only involved fighting but tense and intricate social balancing acts in order to avoid fighting because 80% of the map was a mandatory PvP zone and people could break into your house and steal your shit if they so chose to. The socialization was the meat of the MMO genre, not the numbers. But now fast forward 10, 20 years. The novelty of online interaction has worn off, in fact with the rise of social media, a lot of people are sick and tired of interacting with others on the internet, they want to play solo. So without the socialization aspect of MMOs, that leaves only the numbers and the people who enjoy grinding them so that's what MMO devs pander to. That's how MMOs got to where they are today.
OK Boomer
Enjoy your numbers
Enjoy your Second Life. Don't forget to marry your guild waifu in-game and decorate your in-game house.
I don't play FFXIV, it's another numbers game and ESO has better housing anyway
I never mentioned FFXIV schizo
What other MMOs have marriage and decoratable housing besides FFXIV and ESO?
Tons? It's been a thing since early 2000s MMOs https://lmgtfy.app/?q=mmo+games+with+marriage
Runescape
Don't mind me, just posting the best House Style
Spamming "buying gf" at Varrock west bank is not an official marriage mechanic, and PoHs are customizable like iPhones are customizable. ESO housing system is basically Halo forge mode, half of the fun is making parkour maps out of random objects
There were numerous weddings at the Varrock church complete with priest and guest RP
RP, sure. There's nothing in OSRS that officiates the marriage though, nothing like the pledge of Mara or the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding. There's motherfuckers that RP attending church together in OSRS too, does that make Christianity any official mechanic endorsed and implemented by Jagex?
Jagex fully endorses white genocide and pedophillia, yes.
Oh yeah, gotta optimize your time and get those EHPs. Gotta spend 12 hours a day grinding exp for ??? and gold for ???
Fucking retard
I fucking love how you're usually working your way towards quests and how rewarding they are. Much better than just grinding out quests ad nauseam for xp.
The discrete goals are what make it so alluring. In order to do certain quests, there's whole chains of activities, minigames, and other quests you have to do first. So while chasing skill capes is just mindless grinding, you have a crazy amount of things to do before you run out of unique, non-grindy content
People play Runescape for anything but the quests, music, and minigames?
runescape is just the literal poor man's final fantasy xi
I see this a lot but I wouldn't ever put a jrpg in the same pen as something like WoW/Everquest/Runescape. They're just too different in contrast
thematically they're quite different but the esoteric game mechanic things are very similar, XI has a lot more mystery and niche to it though
Is it bad that I am considering getting 99 in every stat before doing the quests so I can actually enjoy them at my own pace?
AH FUCK I FORGOT TO BUY PREMIER THIS YEAR
that's total overkill for 90% of quests
Well overkill is better than no kill, and I want to bring down the wrath of an Elder God due to what happened to Guthix
>He doesn't want to do all the quests one day
Also having a cool 99 skill cape is GOAT
Everybody respects you.
you don't need max to do all the quests lol
I am not in OSRS. I am playing RS3. They added max level quests.
Those are miniquests. You don't need to do them to understand the main story and get the quest cape, the max you need at most is like 85 in one skill and even then its optional
>you don't need to do them to understand the main story
Runescape didn't have, and never should have got, a "main story"
I don't agree on this with you. It is a RPG, RPGs always have a story.
No they don't need a "main" story. They can have plotlines and loosely connected narratives/continuity but it sure as hell didn't need some JRPG chud shit about a god war or whatever the fuck RS3 did
Good thing you can stay in OSRS with all the other fags that will never reach 99s anyway
Why would I use redditscape? I have a 2006 private server insetad
I agree. Say what you want about osrs quests but i much preferred it when each quest had arcs with their own lands to explore or were standalone. Helping gnomes fight monkeys is much more engaging than being the chosen one
Well with my 99 smithing I can create the best armor in the game anon
I have never found another game where I can smith good items.
In WoW you can only smith trash weapons and armor.
>He thinks a 99 cape demands respect
lmao its 2023 bro your not 99??
Based and correct. Wiki warrior minmaxxers need to be gassed for the good of society. Just started a fresh account after not playing since childhood, got membership and rolled an ironman - been having a fucking amazing time just enjoying the quests, the music, the minigames. I can't even imagine googling optimal strats, spending 90% of my time autism clicking in the GE for a cape nobody gives a fuck about and competing for an ingame stat that does nothing.
Only complaint I have about the quests is that if you don't follow a guide it'll take you 5 years to do each quest. I'm not even talking about the puzzles, I mean running to the opposite end of the map to talk to an NPC and be told I need 5 leaves a piece of wet clay and an amulet I can only enchant at the other end of the map. Checking a guide to make sure I have all the items before I get started is basically mandatory, which is bad, but the quests are still fun as long as your guide-reading is limited to just item prep. If you're looking up puzzle guides you're robbing yourself.
What in the actual fuck is the goal in an mmo if not to increase numbers?
See
>interacting with other players
99% of the human race is and always has been complete scum fucks that deserve torture. Why the fuck would I want to talk to any gay online?
Before the rise of smart phones there was a large monetary and intelligence barrier to using the Internet. There were no random third-worlders or kids or women on the Internet, only people with the knowledge and passion to pursue those things. So the quality of the average Internet user was actually quite high compared to today (autism notwithstanding)
ZOOM ZOOM
You weren't there, fuck off.
Still like me quests even with how little they get released. Still like the journey. Don't particularly care for rushing the destination.
Honestly this, I think the best parts of Runescape were exploration, quests, music and chatting with other players. For "numbers go up" I can just do my day job or play dozens of RPGs where you don't sit in the same area for a hundred hours.
But for a sustainable business model you need to focus on the grinding with some window dressing to keep the sub piggies engaged.
the funniest part is that it was made to be more of a social chat room with light RPG elements. They originally thought no one would work towards the level 99 cap on skills since they were nearly worthless beyond a high score.
The soul of runescape was interacting with random people during exploration. i have no idea how they can really bring that aspect back to the game. The GE is one of the only places where the soul can still be felt.
>It's some sort of divine comedy that the aspect of the game the Gower Brothers cared the least about is the one everyone obsesses over, and all of the world-building and quests that they put their heart and soul into is brushed to the side by the hordes of number-huffing, wiki-slurping, poop-socking MMO addicts
Those poop socking players started out as quest and lore enjoyers, most people dont get hooked into runescape because of the grinding autism. You can play the autist numbers game in RS3 but people hate that game and not RS2 because the latter has careful attention to detail in how its world works. RS2 has the best world of any mmo to date and maybe even a good number of single player RPGs too. The grinding comes later once people are invested into the world and some just happen to find much longer term enjoyment in that
I prefer a balance because some quests are just too horribly designed to rightly enjoy (Monkey Madness and Underground Pass, looking at you) and the game itself incentivizes you to care about the garbage numbers shit (You literally need 90s in all skills to access 3/4ths of the content in the game thats actually fun even including quests)
I wish 90s werent the standard but something that would be good to get and you could do ToB reasonably in the 60s and 70s, or at least get rid of the reliance the game has on prayer.
And dont forget how Slayer Tasks have the worst drops ever compared to level of investment and 99 smithing only lets you make rune platebodies
Not that anon, but the point of end game content is for it to be exactly what it's called. Why would you want people in the 60-70 combat bracket to be able to get end game drops that they probably can only just barely equip, if even at all? There's still plenty of bosses, combat, and other activities you can do that are very lucrative at that level. To pretend that everything fun in the game is locked behind 90+ stats is disingenuous. If you wanna do raids at a lower level, do Tombs of Amascut. I haven't tried it myself, but from what I've seen that seems to be more geared towards the lower levels.
I bonded up a brand new helmie account and got 65 attack and strength in the span of 2 weeks lol. im sorry dude but just play the game. youll be out of the shitty 60-70 skill bracket in a weekend of afking at crabs
I agree with you 100% and do not play games with half of my friends anymore because they are the literal problem and optimize the fun out of everything. I am finding solace in gaming alone as I age because I can just enjoy shit without having to metaslave every single fucking thing on the fucking internet
I don't know if the approach for quests in RuneScape has been replicated in any other game since.
Every other (popular) MMO on the market does the same thing, as in they design the world and then populate it with quests. So the end result is that you might have a quest where you have to retrieve an item for someone, the quest itself has no special set pieces or anything made for it, the only special thing may be a named NPC and a special quest item that you take from a random named crate in some otherwise irrelevant place that is full of similar crates.
RuneScape on the other hand took the approach of doing it backwards and building the world with set pieces designed around quests. Like the Witch's House in Taverley, The Feud in Pollnivneach, and the Camelot Castle with all of it's quests.
Based Actual Runescape enjoyer.
I also love gielinor and i love the world and the lore and i don't care about grinding PvM and huffing adderall all day. I'll stick to chilling and skilling.
>tick manipulation
gross..
>(Old School) RuneScape is the last bastion of the MMO genre that still has something to offer players other than endless grinding
but all you do is grind????
explain yourself
>lock content behind 99s
>hurr no one will do this xD
>What can you do at 99 <stat>
>You can make a rune platebody that you are entirely overleveled for
>Make any rune (despite drops objectively being a better way to get runes except for laws
>maybe 2 or 3 ridiculous meme items that are entirely overkill for EVERYTHING in the game like Dragon Arrows
Yes, you were never meant to actually 99, it's vanity at that point.
that reminds me of this shitty flash online game that had a door that was locked to anyone below lvl 999 or something. Someone no life'd it and got it when he came out to the crowd of people surrounding him asking what was he inside he said he wouldnt tell
WHAT WAS IN THE BOX?!
That's not a flash game, that was tibia
The door i saw was a grey chain looking door it was in a did you know gaming vid and it had 2d flat jpgs not these 2.5d ones either im remembering it wrong or another dev had the same idea either way i cant find proof of this other game so i guess you're right
I remember what youre talking about, dont know the games name
>Exponential
don't even make me laugh
Throughout the game you're just following a guide throughout the whole way through, not because its difficult but just because its the only way to move faster lol.
you seriously think an exponential levelling system is a good thing?
its like playing oblivion at level 50, its very sisyphean
It's a terrible system to have in any game and even as a 12 year old in 2001 when I started playing I could figure this out. It makes before to the start of the curve pointless to keep because you get to it so fast and rewards turn to minimal upgrade trash after the curve because you move at a snails pace
I have base 80s and 90s and I can do every content in the game I don't know why 90-99 grind make people seethe so much.
>I'm bragging about my literal dehumanization ritual
>hurr you can't play games, you are le wasting your life
You can't post here, you are wasting your life, sub human
I raise my glass to your dishonesty.
I'm a trolling enjoyer myself but man you gotta pick your opportunities. 0/10.
Umad?
looks like i ruffled a few feathers even a warhammerfag kek thanks for ruining total war btw you cunts
nice ai art
not ai art 'jeet
cope aitard
Mods can you please do something about this very creepy dude posting pictures (he most likely wasn't given permission to have) of these young girls?
>whores post image on the internet
Don't need permission for public content
I'm just posting a picture of Naomi Watts. anything wrong with that addict?
Hope you don't play MMOs. They all are. Don't tell me you think garbage like WoW or XIV is better.
Nah he is a shitposter and doesn't play any game.
of course i avoid MMO shit kek i dont play shitty games
Ok go back to cybermeme then bruh
what a handsome young man.
Boomer here, can confirm. RS was for the poorfag kids whose parents wouldn't let them have a WoW subscription.
Ok so what do we have left now that WoW is full of trannies, fag
football
Sorry I am not an american.
>implying runescape isn't
It is. But I have no place left to go.
sorry bwo...
why are we still here
just to suffer
Opinion discarded you boy-molesting fruit.
name?
i honestly dont know
i think their name was on a /gif/ thread somewhere but of course tbharchive doesnt archive it anymore those fuckers.
it was pretty soulful before the grand exchange, but few people know this.
we got a glimpse of it in OSRS but they added GE again anyway and killed the soul.
without GE runescape has a lot of player interaction.
yeah standing around at the ge for 4 hours just to buy one thing was retarded i'm not 12 years old anymore
Nobody did that other than the same min max losers who cant live without ge now
I liked when everyone started talking again in leagues, it's the closest you get to the old RS experience.
Nah 9i was there and you nostalgia gays needed to be hit harder by the fucking belt for saying this shit. you had a better time back then selling because you shitposted with your friends in the chat.
Now nobody that plays this has any friends, so it would be pointless to stand there for hours to sell useless crap.
this
also you had to learn the price of what you were selling or you'd get scammed
This. People want the GE for souless reasons hence the game becomes souless when they get what they want.
GE is probably the worst update in the game, completely killed the old school vibe of player-to-player trade. GE also made the game way to fucking easy.
There wasn't any soul then either. Everyone grew up and got shittier, including Jagex. Clan chats made socializing with randos obsolete unless you want the 'todt experience. Trading isn't a feasible means of retaining a friendship especially when we have scammers who have refined their tactics to the point of socially-engineering people out of their stuff. Can't talk about actual shit to anybody. Genuine socialization may as well be equivalent to going to the wilderness with your bank+cash stack.
>but no you dont want to move on you sad fucking 30 year old
>move on
You had me but lost the rod from the random event
they hated him for he spoke the truth
>thotposter has boisterous insectoid normalfag opinion
typical
boomers absolutely btfo
Let me guess. You got killed by the Varrok mages again?
>ugly american pigu face masked by makeup and camera angles
what sort of garden gnomeery is this? everyone in the picture changes except the one that asked the fish level?
People can stand on the same spot to fish or cut trees, so there’s several people where each individual is. It took a few seconds between screenshots, since the willow trees alternated being cut down/grown, so the shown avatars of the piles had changed depending on people moving to fish and cut the other tree.
Unlikely since literally almost everyone in the screenshot changed, and one of the fishing spots vanished too.
It's just a shitty screengrab/meme.
>Skill Specs with the red hp bar in lumby castle area.
lol
>WallStreetJesus bottom right
>/pol/ACK
>doesn't know shit about the thread topic
>posts anyways
pottery
the game fucking sucks
no one even likes it not even the gays play it KEK
People talk about efficiency, the ge, the age of the playerbase, reddit and whatever, but the one thing that actually keeps people from interacting in this game is the fact that everyone has a good enough pc to just run the game in the background or a second monitor and just skip right through the grind without paying any attention.
Gower was right to make AFKing against the rules back in the day, but then again, no one would play the game if it actually meant staring at the screen while you character cuts trees for 300 hours.
The best video game music ever was all made by one nonce.
No it’s this
You both seem to have posted the wrong song
Underground Pass and the lead in to the elf land are still some of my favorite parts and this is including the possibility that the pass might have sucked for you the first time you did it with fail rates at lower agility and the barrel run back through in Regicide.
>Underground Pass
Absolute kino, nothing will ever surpass it as the best MMO quest, nothing will surpass it especially when the other side of the pass in Isafdar wasn't documented well before regicide came out in 2005
>Tasked by the king to explore the caverns to help stop his brother in the elven lands
>Cultists moved into the underground pass and corrupt the area into a place of evil magic
>Largest connecting cavern in RS when it came out, still almost the largest to date even in 2023
>You are sent in alone, with only the supplies you bring and a quick mission briefing from the king's scout right outside the cave entrance
>Walk in and almost immediately encounter traps and hazards in the cave
>Hear this
You can't beat this amount of soul
Underground Pass is my pleb filter, it is genuinely the peak of Runescape and I wish I could permaban anyone who disagreed to make the game a better place.
Only problem with underground pass is that bit with the fucking shovel you have to bring in but you wouldn't know until you got there.
Apart from that, its a masterpiece
its definitely something else, I shudder thinking of the people who did that quest without a guid ... with level 1 agility
Underground Pass back then when the game wasn't treated as a glorified clicker and was an actual MMO was an unforgettable experience.
You survive the absolute hell that is the Underground Pass and it's weird cult shit, on the other side you come to.. a beautiful forest? And oh shit, it turns out the forest is fucking full of traps. You went from trying to figure out why there's a plague in Ardougne and find missing royalty, instead you discover an entire civilization's homeland.
As you were exploring this place, you seriously felt like you were in another realm entirely.
I feel really bad for the people who are only now coming to this game and it's become nothing but a clicker that you "grind" through with plugins designed to minimize any actual thinking and attention.
elf land a shit
ogre land better
Well said. I remember going through all of that and buying a Crystal Bow for the first time. Very satisfying.
Was also great owning people with said bow at Castle Wars.
i play game
i see funny number go up
i play the good music
i kill people
and witness retards trying to figure out game
I will never understand RuneScape fans
You would have to be white to understand, sorry kid.
Every fagscape fan I know is brown, nice try
White game for white people. Seethe.
that's because you live in india you paki fuck, everyone's brown
..huh. i live in california, the most shitskin state in america, and the only people i meet who even know what RS is are right wing white coke head country boy construction workers over 30.
I agree
Tempross ruined fishing but since nobody talks anymore fishing was already ruined
Simply no winning
the minmaxing-no-xp-wast-use-the-wiki mentality is what killed runescape
optimization ruined gaming period.
"Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game."
>every single time
Yeh right. Players who push those limits find the biggest and most frequent errors or bugs that even developers and hired testers (pay to play influencers) could never begin to find.
I'm convinced half the player base is either goldfarming slaves from third worlds and AI bots with a control and mind if it's own.
You can't design a game that can't be played optimally without resorting to pure RNG. I highly recommend stopping playing competitive games and play PvE ones.
Its up to mmo devs to try rather than capitulating.
What made rs fun and got people hooked
>community
>exploration/curiosity
>progression towards that
>reward and risk
Most of that is gone and they helped it. How do mmo devs preserve it in a world of mass information and data mining?
Firstly by not having something like the GE. Let min maxers organise it on another website, they will always try.
Maybe they DO have to have more RNG. Why is that a bad thing?
GE ruined it, minimaxing/nowaste doesn't matter if you can't dump 100 stacks of items from 10 different sources in under a minute
only gp/hr matters because everything you get turns into gp with 0 effort
it used to be that the difficulty of offloading the actual item was an additional consideration and a huge one, thats why everyone did flax/lobs/ess not because it was good money but because it was easy to sell
No it didn't you dumb moron. Stand around for three hours on world 3 spamming the same line in glow2 didn't add anything, but a needless headache and enable scammers.
yeah cause we don't have scammers anymore right? or price manipulation? headache myass, its called communication
this
I recently started playing OSRS after not touching the game since middle school 20 years ago. Not looking anything up or using any wikis and been having fun. The music is so good.
Hope it's an Ironman account
Regular accounts are all about profits while Ironmen is about enjoying the grind but the downside is you're piratically playing a single player MMO
Or you can just not be an autist and play mostly self sufficient without having to pigeonhole yourself into having to do ridiculous grinds to get one item
This
, ironmen accounts are just cope for people who lack self-control and would buy all their gear off of the GE if they had the option to. You can play a regular account exactly the same as an ironman account. The collection log even invalidated the prestige of an ironman only owning what they've acquired, now bondie accounts can prove what they've farmed for too
The music was made by a pedophile. If you like it that means you rape kids.
>The music was made by a pedophile
Explain retard
I guess he really was "Old School"
A lot of the original runecape tracks were written by a dude who fiddled a kid. It's not like he's leaving anything out.
I just found out that the guy who did the music was hired as a customer service guy, during Classic when the game didn't even have music. When they made Runescape 2 they asked a fucking customer service representative to do the music and he just cranked out masterpieces.
Doing this quest late at night as a kid was one of the worst mistakes ever.
I remember this catching me off guard on my family's shitty windows XP computer and it resulting in me falling backwards off my chair and smashing my head against the wall. idfk how something so stupid could scare you looking back at it.
One of my favorite pieces of Runescape lore is how this quest got turned into an inside joke on the lore forum because of how little it fit into the game which led to it being worked into Zaros' backstory and played completely straight.
imagine playing a game with no integrity because it's p2w
Ever wonder why Janky games are amazing?
Prayer flicking and tick manipulation has ruined the game. If they were discovered back in the day they would have instantly been patched. They are activities that attract the specific kind of autist that slowly kill games and displace normal players.
What's worse is the developers decided to create content with flicking and tick manipulation in mind
Go ahead, do the fight caves or some of the later bosses without flicking.
Don't encourage an error, patch it instead
Can't you do fight caves with better stats and more ppots to overcome that?
Sure, you can overgear yourself with high levels while others will tick eat and prayer flick to beat the boss below level 10
Not only that, they've left various other bug abuses in the game after autists cried on the forms. Look up red xing, it was patched and then re-added in after people cried that they couldn't use an exploit to kill bosses without taking damage.
you can do fight caves without flicking lmao
even inferno
Inferno? nah
I've been prayer flicking since 2009. Jagex did try to patch it out of what-is-now-RS3 by adding a massive delay between when you click a prayer and when the prayer activates, but because they're retarded all it did was change the rhythm so you had to flick on and off a little bit earlier.
Runescape was dogshit you only like it because it was the popular busywork simulator of the time. You hate on Fortnite for the exact same reason but give shitscape a pass.
>t. actually tried playing runescape back in the day
who's talking about fortnite?
I didn't knew fortnite was about mining, fishing, smithing and crafting
Show me
>mining, fishing, smithing and crafting
All standard animations and numbers going up. Nothing but busywork.
And they are not in basednite
fuck off stupid zoomoid
>umm walking is one game and also another CHECKMATE
You aren't clicking on a tree and waiting for the dev-alloted time to get the number increases because clicking on another tree.
Sorry but I don't like FPS nor "le building and crafting games with sandbox"
This is the reason you are butthurt, because despite your argument holding some ground, not everybody likes your shitty gameplay or games made for zoomers
You kids only like them now that you have good reflexes and reaction times, but when you are older you will be destroyed by toddlers
I don't get this meme of "oh my I'm 30 my reflexes are shot." I feel sharper than when I was a tween now. My skills have only gotten better and I used to be pretty damned good since every summer time I'd put like 10 hours a day on whatever pvp game was hot at the time.
I think the real issue is most of you fat fucks didn't take care of yourself and probably fried your brains with narcotics and alcohol in your 20s. Plus your mentality probably changed from "I want to be at the top and improve" to "uhh me just want to drink beer and watch the little lights go around"
All in all, stop coping and take some responsibility for your lack of skill. Maybe you were never good to begin with.
Runescape was nowhere near as popular as Fortnite though, bro. A better equivalence would be something like Mario, guitar hero, or pokemon. Those were played even by normies for a while
I sure do love my Naruto and Dragonball armor that I got from the OSRS collab.
Who doesn't enjoy spamming dab emotes while Runecrafting as Spiderman?
I just like grinding and seeing the number go bigger. Quests are fun and afk grinding is comfy
this but making money
I am just skilling to make even more money
Skilling is the worst way to make money
You make money using your level 99 skills obviously
I don't like reselling shit
Banger
That's surely an american thing, and I don't understand it. When this shit released you already had Everquest and later this year daoc. Both are better. Then Lineage 2 and wow.
It's a british game and was more popular in uk/netherlands
It was pretty popular in Australia as well, at least back in the day. A lot of kids looked down on it, but almost everyone had tried it and a lot of kids still played it.
If they put members for in game cash popularity would have reached the rooftops
Too bad retarded companies didn't knew how autistic people can move money fast
I was happy once.
Then I realized it was all grinding numbers for the sake of numbers and the illusion crumbled.
I do not get RuneScape revisionist history. This game always bored me and felt like a placeholder for people who couldn't afford a subscription (or couldn't figure out private servers) to something like Ragnarok or WoW.
You can buy a sub for ingame cash now.
It was literally the poorfag game. But anons grew up on it because their friends were playing it and now it's a gem. Same thing will happen with whatever game is popular now but boomers will get mad at the youngsters anyway.
I'm a 30yo boomer and I genuinely think Fortnite is a better time than RuneScape.
You probably are an army soldier if you can compete with teens in a FPS at 30yrs old
What fps
Fortnite is fps
>inb4 copes that it is le battle royale!!! meme
>Fortnite is fps
It's tps.
zoom zoom
What?
He was calling you a young idiot. That's what "zoom zoom" means. Stop replying to idiots like these.
Ok idiot
Non-sequitur response.
The main action camera for Fortnite is first person, zoomie.
1. That's not correct. Only select weapon scopes even let you use first person.
2. Why are you calling someone a zoomie when you believe they they lack knowledge about Fortnite? Aren't they the core demographic?
I could never get into WoW tbh, it always thought it was an aesthetically ugly game even if it did technically look better than just about every other MMO when it released.
No you revisionist gay.
Runescape predates both of those games by at least 3 years. Maple story was the poorfag placeholder for people who couldn't play RO or WoW.
Runescape was for people who couldn't get Everquest.
Was more like extended chat than real game.
the thing that keeps me from coming back is that now beyond a certain level i imagine youre pretty much forced to use the gear that degrades and breaks when before you could make do with the normal gear that didnt
if its like that then it looks like a chore to me
I want my god damn tempoross pet, fuck me.
>actually caring how people play the game
Bros just fucking play the game and let other people enjoy it the way they want, whether it be poopsock-grinding, PKing or ERPing in the blue moon inn.

Bro, wintertodt?
People who played runescape were the poorgays who couldn't afford a decent PC and a wow subscription back in the 00s.
These days they seethe at people having a higher spec monitor than [email protected]
Yeah because we know how good WoW ended as well, right superior fag?
Uh b-b-b-but rape is good, actually. I love WoW.
Wow used to be good, RS never was.
>wow used to be good
Wowbabs actually believe this. WoW is singlehandedly responsible for the ultimate death of the MMO genre by being so irredeemably fucking bad.
delicious copium in every wow fag post.
to be fair everything turns to shit but it doesn't change the fact vanilla WoW-MoP was pure kino and peak mmorpg community during its prime.
This is why classic sucks today it's not the retarded "durr durr it's easy now cuz addons and 1 million guides" it's because min-max meta gayry wasn't the norm yet and people weren't anti social gays.

STEP ASIDE BICKERING PEASANTS
I regret all those hours I spent in this game. I even did those stupidly difficult secondary objectives. Don't play GW like an MMO. It's like an empty linear rpg with public hubs.
Is it too late to get into RS?
You should try both 3 and OSRS
OSRS has the nostalgia, so if you never played it back then, I would rather play 3 for the quality of life shit. But you can try both for free, so why not do that.
OSRS is a little different from how it was originally but it's still worth playing and it's still better than RuneScape 3.
fashion question, what are some non-skirt armor/pants that fit bandos armor?
>RS3
check the store I guess.
Early/Mid game ironman is so fucking comfy. Recommend to anyone
>never played it
>google some info
>those quests
Holy shit is this one of those rare "real" MMO? I don't remember the last time I have seen quests like this in MMO shit
the quests on runescape are the least standard/predictable quests out of any game, all of them are unique and require some level of thought from the player beyond killthisthing
>Most of the puzzles are quite well put together and a lot of fun especially if you pay attention to the plot
>Most people just spacebar through every dialog box and look up a guide.
It's truely a shame.
bruh screw the chemistry puzzle during recruitment drive, that one I did have to look up, but I agree. Questing with the wiki is Soulless especially since the game has such decent writing. Looking up a list of items you'll need beforehand to save time is valid.
i'll take the bait
how have you never heard / touched Runescape before
if you're zoomer enough then maybe
>how have you never heard / touched Runescape before
What kind of question is this? Shit tons of games exist. You didn't play Falcon 3, Fleet Command and I-War for example. Are you a zoomer?
What's neatis that you can there's silly quest lines and serious ones and everything between. No other game lets you foil Soviet Union inspired penguins that want world domination and also let's you team up with a group of Buffy the vampire slayer wannabe's to overthrow the most powerful vampiric lord in the land, only to find the entire vampire population is suffering from the bad politics of said lord, including his powerful sister, which makes the plan more complicated.

you can do temple trekking and get a ton of bowstrings. I did one trek just to get back to canifis faster than walking and I was surprised to see how many bowstrings it rewarded
You can just do easy temple treks back and forth, skipping every skippable event and you'll get at least 100 bowstrings each time.
We are gonna make it bros
Of course you'll make it, it's firemaking
I really enjoy Runescape still even after so long but fucking hell some of the grind activities are truly awful.
Doing Motherlode Mine right now and it makes me want to blow my brains out. Runescape is so polarizing in that you can either be having good fun or just hating the grind task.
I actually like the low-input activities like mining, woodcutting, and fishing. You can just have it on beside you while you're working on other shit or watching something and only have to interact with it every few minutes
People keep telling me motherlode is AFK but that's a fucking lie because everyone crashes your spots and rng is a bitch.
However, I'm not cool enough to have 72 mining yet for the top-level.
No one bothers with the top level so that's where the good bits are
Oh yeah it's rough down there in the lower level. My favorite afk mining activity is mining amethysts in the mining guild with the expert mining gloves that give the amethysts a 25% chance to not deplete, but that also has a high barrier of entry
The ore acts differently on the top level too. The rest of the mine has a flat chance of being depleted each time an ore is mined, but on the top level mining the first ore starts a timer that allows you to mine as much ore as you can before depleting
I enjoyed pking on low level pures and on my 86 combat 40 def ranger with 99 range.
Back in the day during RS Classic was the first time I had cyber sex with someone. Paid 5k gp for it.
this game is for autists, they need games to play too.

Fuck off son of crackhead mother.
Your ESL is showing Brownoid-kun.
Is not every english speaking country plagued with morons and white male trans?
Not the point my brown skinned friend.
The point is that you acuse other of being poor when it's likely that I make more in a day than you do in in a month.
Pure copium
You dumb EFLs brag about this, but you pay much more in electricitty, food and fuel than brown skins. Your "extra money" is spent the same, cope more.
We pay more yes, but we also have far more disposable income, work better jobs, and have a far higher quality of life.
No one here in the first world played Runescape because they couldn't afford anything else, we played it because we could afford everthing, so why stick to just one game?
i was so jealous of lineage 2 players back in the day.. with their awesome photoshopped forum signatures of their characters. its true i could only play f2p runescape, ragnarok, maplestory and castle infinity.
don't worry, no matter what he replies he will always be epic owned
Even if he lies saying he also fucked white girls (which he didn't)
When the fuck are these lazy morons making raids 4?
is it worth playing now if you've never played it before?
I go in blind, will I have a fun time or is it shite?
You can have a great time now, yes. The key is to just go with the flow. Try to avoid listening to what other people advise you to do in terms of the gameplay.
The only thing you should really look up beforehand is ironman versus main account. Do you want to be entirely solo self found, or be able to trade? Once you've decided that, just make an account, and fuck around for a bit. I'd recommend giving f2p a couple days worth of play.
Even that’s impossible because some plebbit fag will 100% give a genuinely new player 1 million gold or full rune. Probably multiple people. It basically destroys the early game and curiosity/exploration. Every new player i tracked oncluding my friends ended up the same, given millions. They grind out easy mode then quit as soon as they get 70 combat stats and can wear rune. It’s because they get given everything.
The fun as a new player was learning and struggling and exploring. These plebbit fags basically rob that experience from new players now days
they think they're saving the game by making it easy for the new players
I hope they arent that fucking retarded. I have tracked dozens of new players and friends returning. Every. Single. One had the same thing happen. Free shit.
Some got 10-20m over multiple players. They ALL quit within weeks as the game gets speed run.
I think in combination with the GE and wiki/minmaxer way this game is played now the free money is basically a death sentence
Only if you like skilling, otherwise you can't do quests. Game is free, so give it a try. You have only time to lose.
>is it worth playing now if you've never played it before?
yes
>I go in blind, will I have a fun time or is it shite?
yes, but you probably shouldnt go in 100% blind
get runelite (3rd party client with tons of extra features, like uncapped fps, gpu usage, higher draw distances, and tons of QOL improvements)
look up what items you need for quests before you do them. the biggest fucking headache in the game is doing a quest that sends you across the world, only for some gay to tell you to bring him an item, forcing you to go back and return to him. fuck that.
dont be an ironman. the difference between a normal mode account and ironman account is that ironmen cant trade other players.
I want powercreep and raidchudery to end
Pre-2010 Runescape pking was, and probably always will be the most fun I ever had with PVP.
Unfortunately the PVP has not aged well, at all. Especially with how the community has aged.
it boggles my mind that they never added an "old school" lms mode. I want msb/dscim/dds only fights
sit kid
what do you mean you didnt predict the 100 damage stack and triple eat on the tick you would have died?
Hilarious to remember the days people would complain about "safing" if you ate above half health.
Now people eat if their health isn't already boosted 100+ lol.
>the average person today was a god back then
Back when there were more noobs, there was way more versatility with pking too which made it more fun. 1v1s in Edgeville, small teams at mage bank, luring, etc.
I remember people used to target Runecrafters doing abyss runs in Edgeville - I would dress up like a Runecrafter and trick people into attacking me thinking it'd be an easy kill, then switch to a whip and fuck them up lol. Pure pking was fun.
Everyone is too good at games in general now haha, the average person today was a god back then

>doooood just PENTUPLE TICK EAT GEAR SWITCH PRAYER SWITCH VENG SPEC AND USE SCRIPT KIDDY TOOLS DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
>noooooooo why is pvp dying :~~* why are they voting no to pvp shit bros :~~*
People will approve of this exact thing for pve content but for some reason its not okay for pvp
Why is that?
Because it trivialises most PvM content while in PvP the dude you're fighting can do it back and you can lose.
The environment doesn't cry about being exploited, idiot. The same logic behind cheesing the AI.
Song of the Elves is literally the most hated quest in the game specifically because it tried to make Tick Eating a mandatory mechanic and it's only praised by degenerates.
You don't need to tick eat to beat Seren
They patched it so you didn't.
Do you have evidence of this? It's not documented on the wiki
>main gimmick of the fight is hitting you for your entire max hp
Wrong, the attack is hard coded to deal damage equal to your max hp - 1.
>"B-b-b-but that's close enough!!!!!"
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Temporary_skill_boost#Hitpoints
It's honestly funny that you're so dumb you don't even realize what you just did
Enlighten me
Anon, why do you think a magic/ranged attack would hit you specifically for up to your max hp -an arbitrary amount
Let me just skip to the end here. You said that tick eating was mandatory to beat the fragment of Seren, it's not. Better luck next time
cool, keep pretending you're mr big pants about completing a deliberately worse version of the worst quest series in the game, and pretending to be retarded about what was flagrantly obviously an attempt to integrate tick eating as an actual mechanic outside of Tzhaar-Kuk
Still waiting on evidence that Seren's attack was nerfed, but I don't expect to see it because you're already trying to back out of the conversation
Look at the phrasing on the wiki dumb dumb, there's a reason why it attempts to use "Up to" and "Your" Max Health -X interchangably.
Not good enough
If you think SOTE is worse than Plagues end, then i don't know what to say. PE was ass
The writing for Plague's End was so retarded. Everything is just so easy and straightforward, it has to be the most phoned in quest in the game. You just walk up the the Councillor of Ardougne and tell him "The king is evil, the plague is fake, the mourners are elves and they're trying to kill everyone so I'm gonna go start a riot" and he just instantly believes you with no evidence and immediately gives you control over the army. And then you start the uprising by walking around and telling people to do an uprising, and they do it. It's like a quest written by someone who normally writes quest guides.
The game is british btw. As a brit I constantly see British influence on every quest. Especially with older quests.
There is often a massive light hearted element to quests in an almost playful way, other brits probably pock it up when they see it.
It might look quite strange to people unfamiliar with it though.
Plague's End wasn't trying to be funny, it was just extremely lazy. The Elf series had been on hiatus forever so they shat out an obligatory finale while spending all the development time on the reward city that obsoletes most of the game.
You can't tick eat Zuk's attacks, the only place people semi use it are the pillars at ToA, Bloat and Sotetseg in ToB, and muttadiles in CoX. People whine about Seren's massive attack but it's literally just there to make sure you can display a room temperature IQ memory test of seeing which attacks she does in a pattern so you know to brew up and/or eat an anglerfish
>You can't tick eat Zuk's attack
Correct, which is the point I was making dumbass
Then you need to change your sentence grammar because that is literally not what you said
>Deliberately making attacks not tick eatable isn't acknowledging it as a mechanic
Also L to all the retards in the thread saying >le sara brewskis
>drink sara brew before attack
>i dont die
>UR A RETARD!!! L!!!!
cool dude. i hope pic related is you
getting mad won't make fragment of seren any less shit or me any more impressed that you can go into the elf city we could both go in, that is, if I even still played runescape
its ok to admit you dont know what tick eating means
I dont really get why people like you exist. why go into a thread about a game you havent played in years, announce you havent played it in years, and complain about something factually wrong? what compels people to do this? it really only happens in mmo threads. when I stop playing a game I stop caring about it. why would I ever want to post in a thread about a game I havent played it years, let alone try to debate over crap im wrong about? it must be autism
>why go into a thread about a game you havent played in years
Because I used to like it
>announce that you haven't played it in years
Because you've repeatedly tried to protect a shit part of a game by trying to imply I either can't/never actually played that part of the game
>and complain about something factually wrong
You are intended to tick eat seren's special attack, I'm not going to pretend the fight caves are intended to be played at level 3 because it's possible.
Your next line is to imply that I'm suggesting drinking a sara brew is the same as beating the fight caves at level 3
>You are intended to tick eat seren's special attack
no, you are intended to overheal the attack. its same as nomad's special attack back in 2009, back when nobody knew tick eating was even a thing. you can use sara brews, anglers, or guthix rest. probably could use phoenix necks too, not sure about that actually
>I'm not going to pretend the fight caves are intended to be played at level 3 because it's possible.
the fight caves are not intended to be beaten at level 3, lmfao. that requires actual tick eating and multiple other janky methods
>Your next line is to imply that I'm suggesting drinking a sara brew is the same as beating the fight caves at level 3
no, my next line is to call you a retard for still not understanding that you dont need to tick eat to beat seren
in order for seren to have been a "tick eat" fight, she would have to have hit you for your max hp twice in a row. hitting for your max hp once is countered by pre drinking a sara brew. i dont think you know what tick eating means lol
you realize you could drink a sara brew to be over max hp, right? you did not need to tick eat. didnt nomad have the same mechanic a decade ago?
Too bad the defense and hp system are inherently flawed and force the game to have a never advancing horizontal progression system where all pve encounters are just different flavors of autistic tick dancing around a room to avoid projectiles that will 1 hit kill you
Runescape was made soulless by the players, the game itself is full of soul.

>even did thr math with my limit of 30 mins on the computer per day to come up with $5/month = 33 cents per hour
>she gives me a $5 bill
>search the forums for what to do to get membership
>trust a random post that says where to and how to mail the five USD bill to jagex hq from bumfuck usa
>yfw it worked
>very first thing i did was spend a chunk of my pizza fortune on building up a house
>advertise “haunted house [email protected]@@“ at thr home portal
>my house was just the lowest tier dead trees and shrubs with a single room wooden cabin in the middle full of ripped curtains and dead trees
>yfw people would actually just make friends, meet people, hang out, and leave for adventures together at my in game house that had nothing in it
lol I remember convincing my parents with a powerpoint presentation that spending 5 bucks on the internet wasnt a scam. I remember some factoid about how the gower bros were the 10th richest 20 year olds in england and arguing they couldnt be scammers if they were that rich
The game had so much fucking sovl when it was at it's peak, it was insane.
The Durial321 "Falador massacre" that happened shortly after Construction was released will live on in cultural infamy too.
Fucking awesome glitch, dude just went off killing everyone in what should have been non-PVP zones lol.
I occasionally get the urge to play runescape again, then I remember how absolutely shit the community is with obsessing over efficiency. It's even bled over into the devs now because any time a new boss is released, it's gotta be a constant stream of gp/hr or else the community deems it dead on arrival. Imagine what the original gwd boss loot tables would look like it the current retarded community had their say in it back then like they do now.
runescape osrs pozz by jagex
>clown wigs
>both RS3 and OSRS have been ruined by woke shit
they were shit anyway because every update after 2006 was trash
>trying to do tai wo banna trio quest
>need a cooked karambwan
>dont have 65 fishing
>dont want to buy one off the GE
>go to karambwan fishing spots on high pop worlds offering bait for ONE cooked karambwan, even off to build the fire
>nobody even responds
I hate this coommunity mroe and more with each passing day
90% of the people fishing karambwan are afk fishing for the pet. the other 10% are helmies
>introduces "diversity" changes and ruins the humor of the Feud quest
>introduces a genderspecial in the latest new content for RS3
It's all so tiresome.
I just did the fued on my new ironman and everyone was still named ali. I think they change their names after the quest
Oh, yeah, I forgot that the name changes during the quest were an RS3-only thing. I think OSRS removed a line about being fat or something in one of the quests, though.
And they will do it again and autoban anyone this year. its what happen when your company is bought up by literal garden gnomes.
The real blasphemy was removing the "No man can kill me!" puzzle in recruitment drive, without that puzzle the makeover mage is completely divorced from the world. The makeover mage no longer has purpose in the world, it's just a mechanic, an afterthought
I dont even get why that would be offensive to trannies. if anything that supports them
>Unfulfilled white women and men simping for unfulfilled white women
>Making sense
I swear theres a few quests where you need to go to the makeover mage still. dont you need to get a disguise potion or something from them at one point? I forget if its zogre flesh eaters where you turn a human into an ogre or a goblin quest where you turn somebody into a goblin
He's involved in a Dorgushuun quest
>The Makeover Mage plays a role in the Land of the Goblins quest, where the player must talk to them to learn how to make the goblin potion using a toadflax and a pharmakos berry, requiring 47 Herblore.
>Released 9 February 2022
That doesn't satisfy me. To solve the Recruitment Drive puzzle you had to actually use his services if you were a male character, something that you would previously assume to just be cosmetic or technical. Imagine if a game made you go into the fuckin options menu to solve a puzzle, that's the level at which the old puzzle was operating on
yeah I agree, it was a bullshit move but at least theyre still involved somewhat in 1 quest
there were bots that bought and sold common commodities at set prices too lol. i remember people luring the poorly scripted ones to the dark wizards
For some reason people have been really chatty in grindy afk activities, lately. I actually added someone to my friends list for the first time in literal months.
For me it was pic rel.
>muh GE
>implying i spoke with people in-game
i used to sell my sharks via the official forums 1k ea, people in-game would offer less
>He didn't play the real ludokino version
Many such cases, sad!
>consider myself maxed
oh if only he knew
This is the last version I played and I can't get used to the 3D graphics now.
sprites were such sovl and they ran on even my old shitbox.
i wish I did..
I tried out a Classic private server earlier today and honestly it kind of sucks ass. The screen is so small, the interface sucks, the map sucks, the inventory sucks, talking to NPCs sucks and there's no music. There's even capitalization and spacing errors in the text. I was ready to give the combat, clicking, and lack of running a chance but I think RSC is just too shitty for me.
>numbers go up 9 billion exp grind sell your soul game (KOREA)
BAD
>numbers go up 9 billion exp grind sell your soul game (UK)
GOOD
Explain.
Koreans grind games to make money, Anglos grind games to have fun.
>there aren't the same chink gold farmers in runescape that there are in korean grindfests
lol
is there anything in gaming that evokes the feeling of mystery and danger to a child the way the wilderness did?
>to a child
I’m still terrified of the wildy. I was doing chaos altar at 3am the other day sure nobody would show up and I fuckin screamed irl when somebody spawned in on top of me. Only lost an inventory of dbones but still
Even as a pker I still get nightmares of being in deep wildy with items I shouldn't be carrying, or a huge clan spawns on top of me, or I'm in a PVP world fiddling around with my bank while under attack.
The way I play runescape is to sit at the ge and grab everything I can in the quickest snatcher in the west
Best mini-game
I have lvl 64 snatching.
>Friend convince me to play OSRS
>Give me a membership pouch
>DL literune
>Literally everything take forever to lvl
>Macro volcano ash + compost
>Pay back what I owe to my friend which is total 6.3m gp for the pouch
>Quit
It fucking boring, important QOL quest literally need difference 5 sets of high level XX skill to do or most quest require you to backtrack 3 times with god awful 28 inventory limit. Ticks is the stupidest game mechanic I ever seen.
you should've played Gankerscape
Yep because the community ruined the game by being minmaxing wiki obsessed twats, and jagex made the game like that for them.
If those fags never got their way the experience would have been:
>be noob
>see players, ask them what they are doing as you see people doing less efficient things and trading everywhere
>find item, speculate about it
>ask someone what it does, train towards what they tell you
>money harder to come by, feel intense reward when you save 100k from cooking pies and selling them etc
>get scammed
>start again but better
>do quest to unlock new area, speculate about new money making
Now days its
>be newb
>nobody talks
>empty world, other than grand exchange and some autist running around in graceful
>ask about something
>use wiki
>find item on ground
>no speculation, insta sell on grand exchange and look up on wiki minmaxers got integrated onto the HUD
>some minmaxer donates you 1m when you are level 15
>train a bit, know optimal routes
>get bored and quit
>>some minmaxer donates you 1m when you are level 15
This happened to me, I was doing the newbie quests then some guy called out to me, ran up gave me millions of gold and then some item that sells on the AH for another 200 million and just disappears.
You still have those elements when your account is shit and poor at the beginning without access to a lot of content. I spent most of my f2p days speculating and trying to figure out the ge prices in relation to the activities whilst training combat/skills up to "membership content levels" (i.e. 60 melee combat stats to use dragon). Ended up staying afloat by doing a bunch of easy clues when god pages were worth something.
Just don't use a guide.
>You still have those elements when your account is shit and poor at the beginning without access to a lot of content.
Unfortunately that isnt the case these days. Basically no new player escapes getting handed millions of GP from plebbit fags when they are level 10
I really doubt that. Most of f2p is full of trash, hustlers and bots. The usual generosity I see get talked about in-game is a bunch of f2p gear and maybe a bond to escape f2poverty.
If you're speaking of reddit posts specifically it's more than likely staged like most social media autofellatio.
Its not mate. It happened to 5 of my friends who made an account and i’d say they averaged 5m each.
I have also been forced to take 1m on mu two and only alts before by idiots. Im surprised you are sceptical
Yeah, a bond exactly like I said. Bonds are 6.4m at the moment. A bond is usually the maximum threshold people will give away.
They dont give bonds, its cash.
Even 1mm, hell 100k can be enough to completely rob the experience from newbs.
I can’t imagine how badly it would have ruined my earliest playing on runescape if someone had given me money like that early on back then. Its evil. You can literally never get that experience back
Check out The Black Grimoire: Cursebreaker
It’s kinda not great but it tries really hard to be singleplayer runescape. Scratches the same itch & lets you experience a bit of that “first time playing runescape” feeling again
Naraka Bladepoint pre-game lobby sometimes reminds me of the simple times
I remember thinking this game looked dated as hell to the point of unplayability when I was in high school and i'm 30 now
Miyeon!
Did any of you ever attend those old Runescape gatherings at white wolf mountain where you could meet all the big names? I don't think I've ever had runescape fry my old laptop as much as it did when I finally got to attend one
Video of what I'm talking about:
Nothing personnel kid
On modern RS3 the poison does 1 damage for some reason, even though characters have hundreds of health. EOC was such a clusterfuck of an update, even besides the combat part.
Is it possible it was when hitpoints was changed to constitution? The health number increase was before EoC. I could believe it being either though.
just run through them, they don't do shit
I got a free week of membership from Amazon Prime and did some of the quests that released since I quit. Runescape may be a decaying husk of what it once was but I still love it so much. If OSRS didn't have the GE I would definitely resubscribe and redo all the quests there.
When did it all go wrong? It was Cook-X, wasn't it?
You can never return. Simulate it all you like, but it will never be the same.
Ive never played runescape before and when I tried it i quit within a day, it looks like a game designed for 7 yeasr old kids
how the fuck can adults enjoy this is beyond me? Quests are disney cartoon tier, I think elementary shcool kids would find this game super cool but if you're a grown man it's beyond me
do you guys watch saturday morning cartoons in your PJs too? What an ass screensaver game lmao like yea let me just light 50 million logs on fire
you quit in 1 day and didn't see any of the good quests the game has.
im such a brainlet with this game
never did godwars except like once
never got void
never got a 99
never got fire cape
never made tens of mills
never pvpd
never did monkey madness (i think i did on my original account but that bro dead)
i pretty much just did fishing wood cutting green dragons and then with my most recent account got hunter to like 85
but still made barely any mone
for a period there i was actually flipping items and i doubled my bank but i think the most i got was like full bandos with a fury or someshti
Void is easy but time consuming. It's just n hours of
>board boat
>run to a portal and do enough damage to qualify for rewards
>afk while the portals slowly get vulnerable one by one and players instagib them
>receive 1-3 points and repeat
It doesn't even matter if you die because you just respawn, so people like to fish for high hits during the rounds.
yeah i did that for a bit but i just cant hack it the same as when i was a kid
i have to be engaged if im playing a game now which is kinda ironic
but like, ive got less attention span now than back then because i have all these fucking games and rarely do i stick with one for like 8 hours like i used to do during the holidays with osrs league or mw2
As much as I hate OSRS, I'm glad it exists. You can say what you want about all the shit changes made since release, but it's still an actual video game and it still has the soul of Runescape inside of it. If just one zoomer plays OSRS instead of a predatory cancer phone game and feels even a fraction of the magic I felt as a kid, its existence is justified.
Ultima Online was objectively better than poorscape and the fact nobody has mentioned it means this is either a brownoid zoomer thread or shill marketing thread
posting on Ganker has more gameplay than this garbage lmao
i just play melvor idle instead.
all the grinding with 97% less clicking.
hey guys i never played runescape in my life i did play wow is old runescape good
