Before this game came out the most common thought story wise that wasn't just about the original trilogy or Forerunner Novels was that the story is clearly worse but that 343s refusal to commit to any one plot thread over multiple games really fricked it.
Infinite just made that problem worse.
Campaign was alright. I like that they tried something different but the game didnt really benefit from being open world. I also only played the campaign twice and thought the second playthrough was boring. I wouldnt say it was bad because I did really like my first playthrough.
There's like an overall lack of polish for infinite, especially for the multiplayer.
They were trying a new netcode on a dedicated playlist a couple months back but not sure what happened to it, I'm still dying behind walls. Not sure if they're still trying to implement it on all playlists
Was this to fix desync? It might help but I feel like theres just an overall lack of momentum. Like strafing is just instant, vehicles feel friction-less, sometimes explosions don't push you around.

The thing is, the engine is the same one they made for halo 1, it’s the Bethesda situation all over again where this old engine is being patheticly dragged out for the umpteeth time for quick profit but they wanted to try and update for modern systems but it’s so archaic that nearly every trainee that comes out of the process wants to be paid more for learning this incredible niche software, but upper management instantly fires the fricker and afterwards hires a new replacement to repeat the situation all over again. This practice apparently went one for a entire year before someone told the suits to stop fricking firing everyone

I was one of the shills defending this game during E3 Reveal (NOT GAMEPLAY TRAILER) because I truly thought 343 were going to make a normal Halo game since they decided to boldly show off Master Chief's old Mark VI and then they queued the marty music while master chief drove down a road similar to CE and then the actual game came out and it was simplified Halo 5 in an open world setting that retained all the features people still didn't want in a halo game.
Its made me so much more bitter towards games and 343 that I legitimately have no hope for this series unless they passed it on to Certain Affinity or Blur.
I don't like the precedent the Endless set. I'm worried it's all to set up nostalgiabait supreme as we get a plot about her fricking with the original trilogy's events and now we basically start Halo over but now with 343shit shoehorned into the covnenant war.

Mainline Halo games should never be open world. Arena gameplay works in arenas. Halo is an arena game.
