The Wii U put Nintendo on damage control levels not seen since the Gamecube and THQ died at the same time so people were smashing and grabbing everything out of its corpse for cheap, with Embracer getting the lion's share of the kill. In this case, to pad out the Wii U's middling release calendar, Nintendo paid to get this across the finish line in some state.
