I personally was never going to play an open world halo and because of that I'm glad it got hate. I played the early MP and mechanically it was alright (as is the Halo trademark) but I just felt there was solitude to do and so little reason to do it, it never felt like teamwork.
Cool. Where are the pregame/postgame lobbies, split screen co-op, map voting, ability to choose the color blue, playable elites, player physics, more than 3000 players, etc
No player collision so players can walk right over each other
You can melee from the front, phase through your target and get a backsmack kill from inside them
Teammates can walk through you while you're firing rockets to cause you to suicide
Its close enough to being a good game that everything it still does wrong makes it feel worse for making those mistakes.
Rng weapons
Rng vehicles
Unmutable fake teammates and ai constantly talking
Muting them also mutes the classic announcer
Voice chat is muted by default for everyone so even if you use a mic only people who unmute the setting will hear you
All players are split up after every match making grouping up with randoms impossible
No more team colors to show off shitty microtransaction store purchases
Can't choose your own colors, must buy preset color combos
Colors are locked to cores
Can't choose your own armors, must by preset cores with small variations inside
Can't mix any colors or armors freely
New unlocked to core colors and helmets are a seperate new purchase so they can scam everyone dumb enough to have paid for anything in the original system
Weak map design for most of the multiplayer maps
Entire campaign is just a drawn out version of Halo from CE
Nothing happens in the story
All lore is picking up messages of the new enemy leader talking about how cool he is and how weak you are or recording of randoms dying
Original Halo was about Master Chief and his place in a military organization, 343 hacks think being in the military is icky and so never have his exploits saving Marines and taking bases turn into becoming part of an organized military operation on the new Halo
>Unmutable fake teammates and ai constantly talking
There's toggles for those now, but they're buried in unrelated menus. And the latter only got added a couple months ago.
>Original Halo was about Master Chief and his place in a military organization, 343 hacks think being in the military is icky and so never have his exploits saving Marines and taking bases turn into becoming part of an organized military operation on the new Halo
Interesting point.
>There were marines in the game, but they were very limited in terms of what they could do. You ended up feeling kind of lonely in this bigger world without any marines. So we did a ton of work to make sure marines could basically pathfind everywhere. Like, everywhere that you went in the world, if you had a Warthog filled with marines and they would follow you as best they could, up a mountain, like into a cave system. That took a ton of work." Staten, From Eurogamer interview:
Being better than 4 or 5 doesn't make it good. Bosses were underwhelming, story was once again complete nonsense, there was less level variety than any other Halo, no big setpiece moments, nor vehicle missions, no blood made the fire fights feel weird.
I don’t understand why 343 hasn’t been fired. Just make Halo CE: 2, or Halo 2: 2, or Halo 3: 2. Like fricks sake. Take one of the main trilogy and copy it. Don’t add any moronic shit.
>open world Halo on a new ring that fans can explore >lol, jk, it's actually on one small broken off island portion of the ring that the entire enemy army and all important ring facilities just so happen to be located on
has any dev team ever taken over and so thoroughly ruined a franchise as much as 343?
No I think halo is the biggest show of their moronation. Perfect Dark was killed by them, Battletoads, banjo, rare itself, gears. I loved my 360 but M$ has repeatedly dropped the fricking ball on every golden goose franchise they’ve had.
every single aspect of halo infinite was stolen from better games, including but not limited to the rest of the franchise
> open world: ODST did it first, and better (besides the whole concept being intended to follow the BOTW / open world moneytrain) > "new" armor designs stolen directly from Reach, who did it better, these were later ruined with kawaii cat ears > the Banished are stolen from Halo Wars 2, a better game by a better developer, because no one liked the Prometheans > the Endless: an evil race that's immune to the Halo array! Combat Evolved already had this, it's called the Flood > Weapon is Halo 1 Cortana > chief's "new" armor is stolen directly from Halo Legends: The Package, which in turn just changed the dimensions of mark VI MJONLNIR from Halo 2 and 3
the hilarious part is they DIDN'T import the things people would've actually liked to see
> no lasky, the only likeable character 343 EVER wrote. nah lol he just died offscreen > maybe do something with Halsey? nah > might be fun to see some of the Halo Wars characters, see Chief fight alongside the old MIA S2s for a mission or 2.... nah > open world? sounds like a perfect opportunity for the return of scarab fights! NOPE! not ONCE in an ENTIRE trilogy has 343 created something as big, dynamic, engaging and FUN as the scarab battles from Halo 3 15 fricking years ago. ON A CONSOLE FROM 2005. the reason for this is that they have NO talent > oh but here's some boss fights! you like those right? (these are regular enemy encounters with increased health)

Halo was never good
It’s total dogshit and missing most of the features a 16 year old Halo 3 had.
That's crazy show me the scripting and forgeable AI in halo 3 boomerbro

Thanks for reminding me.
No player collision so players can walk right over each other
You can melee from the front, phase through your target and get a backsmack kill from inside them
Teammates can walk through you while you're firing rockets to cause you to suicide
You can just use mod tools for that, and not get banned if you use too many of the corpses as decoration.
What's so good about it?
Not good enough
Its close enough to being a good game that everything it still does wrong makes it feel worse for making those mistakes.

Reminder that Joe Staten had to tell 343 to make the marines follow you around in the campaign
...You can't be serious

343 tried to blame the engine for why they did do simple openworld things.
>343 Halo
No.

It's a 10/10 campaign.
Multiplayer is fun as frick.
But Sonymonke has no games to play and has to sneed.
>10/10 campaign
Maybe if you have brain damage
>A ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS
>again
lol
lmao even
I was designing better maps in forge when I was 12 years old

343 cannot make good games. It’s a law of physics.
no it isn't
