It’s actually pretty good. The only thing I didn’t like was the new soundtrack, the OG had the perfect soundtrack already, not sure why they had to redo it.

>I'm gonna grab an image of Demon's Souls
>No, not that one
>Yes, the one with "PS5" in massive letters on it
That's the subject of the thread moronbro
>the point is to make PS5 bait
Yeah no shit, good on you for catching on
>you should make a thread about the PS5 remake without mentioning that it's the ps5 remake
>a man, made of hay, barely a man at all I say
This level of autism, and here I thought ChrisChan was in jail...
>talk about a vidya w/ genuine statement
>its bait
meds
Considering it's a PS5 exclusive still, it's probably harder to find an image of just the render instead of the regular cover.
Why do you seethe so hard at an image, jesus.
First of all the character creator is awful.
Also, I made the mistake of picking mage as my starting class. Constant annoying Hollywood sound effects every time I cast soul arrow.
>Fat Official redesign
>Maneater redesign
>Firelurker redesign
>Adjudicator redesign
>They removed Skelechads
>Souls can now make noise and footsteps
The Bluepoint remake is fricking devoid of soul.
They changed Firelurker back to old ps3 design.
>They 'fixed' one out of 6 things I listed, and only after massive response from the community
ok
can now make noise and footsteps
This seems like such a small detail, but it was an understated yet important piece of worldbuilding that they either completely fricking missed or just flat-out chose to ignore in favor of getting more mileage out of their sound budget. Either way, it's very indicative of the level of care that went into the remake.
I played it and still prefer the originals design no matter how polished the bluepoint turd is
>And not a word about a souls game giving exclusive weapons and starting souls for a deluxe edition
Honest question when is sony going to start making banger 1st party games? I don't care if its also on PC I just want a fun fricking game and not the same Ubisoft rpg with 20h of walking/cutscenes
Xbox might not have games now but they're getting a massive selection of different genres
Shit is why I got a pc
I quite enjoyed it but I also had only played the original the same year it came out, so the redesign stuff wasn't particularly noticeable to me. I will say that it feels like the remake went for a more "Epic" feeling while the original felt... dirtier? More uncomfortable? Idk how much of that relates to the actual designs, my memories, and/or the fact that it was my first fromsoft game
Other than the lack of fog, I liked the new visuals for boletaria but it felt weirdly sanitized for the other areas, especially latria and the valley. The way water affected the appearance of stone in the first part of shrine of storms was pretty mesmerizing through. I spent a bit of time just walking through the stage whenever it was having a downpour
>And not a word about a souls game giving exclusive weapons and starting souls for a deluxe edition
this is gay as all hell. I wouldn't give a frick if it was cosmetic only, but deluxe editions giving material gain headstarts is lame to begin with. seems even tackier for a souls series game
>this is gay as all hell. I wouldn't give a frick if it was cosmetic only,
Anon it isn't cosmetic It includes weapons, armor, souls and healing items
Frick monkey brain deleted part of it
>Anon it isn't cosmetics that only suck to be paywalled
>Even if the included weapons, armor, souls and healing items are only cosmetic that still is putting the worst aspects of modern gaming into a franchise that doesn't do this even today
Problem is that you can't upgrade any of the equips so they're pretty much pointless.
maybe I wouldn't not give a frick, but I do think it's a lesser evil. ideally games don't do that shit at all, but if they do I'd rather have it be cosmetic related
that's actually pretty fricking funny, especially for players who are new to the game altogether. getting carried & becoming reliant on ur deluxe order sword, then having a rude awakening when trying to upgrade it
>that's actually pretty fricking funny, especially for players who are new to the game altogether. getting carried & becoming reliant on ur deluxe order sword, then having a rude awakening when trying to upgrade it
it's why even though i think they shouldn't even have moronic premium bonuses like that at all, i don't necessarily mind it. royal is still easy mode, dark souls 1 had the drake sword or getting lucky with a black knight weapon, dark souls 2 had the rapier and mace, and dark souls 3 had the sellsword twinblades. having an easy mode weapons right from the get go isn't really uncommon in the slightest.
new players falling for the trap and using their shit deluxe edition bonus weapons probably makes the game much harder for them than if they rushed the crescent falchion+1 in 4-1, which is definitely funny.
Yeah
Its only pretty good because the original game was pretty good, every audio and visual change they made is a downgrade.
Please tell me they didn't ruin Maiden Astraea's theme...
I like the Maneater boss music, that's it.
Agreed the OST was the worst part. The OG OST was flawless
WTF
its not good because demons souls wasn't good. at least it looks nice
really?
right
I am never getting over this
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. What does bother me is Allant's new voice.
Is original supposed to be wearing a mask or is it his face?
that's their face
RPCS3
>60 fps
>upscaled to 4K
>any controller I want
>original aesthetic preserved
>reshade? why the frick not
>texture sharpening? Which kind, there are 3 types? Frick, do all 3
>RTGI ambient occlusion too
Can you even imagine playing Demon's Souls any other way? Me? I could never.
WTF
Which part?
I really liked it too and, unlike the zoomers b***hing ITT, I can recall conversations with Atlus folks on 1up.com about the game being brought over, how it was like Breath of Fire 5 in that you die and restart with your skills in tact, make a bit more progress, die again, and repeat. I remember people importing it, saying it was shit and will flop, only for it to be acclaimed upon release here (but still flop). I’m not overly attached to the game but I can remember dropping extra cash on the deluxe version because the setting intrigued me, and yes I was an adult when it came out unlike the From-defending white knights who will literally never become, nor be accepted by, the Japanese.
If you’re a gameplay-first kind of guy there’s a good chance you’ll like the Remake as much as the original. It plays more fluidly and has more satisfying animations while retaining the same exact frame counts of each attack and action. The UI is uglier but who gives a shit about that, it looks much quicker and the network woes of the original release are mitigated due to better online infrastructure. They even technically added new content in the way of a mirror world, which has a new set of armor to unlock.
It’s perfectly fine.
I believe everyone shitting on the remake has no frame of reference for how the original felt. Like they either never touched it or it's been so long they can't remember how shit it feels. They can look up the designs and the songs but those can't communicate, you know, the part that's a video game. Fun factor. That memory is obliterated by nostalgia.
I played it again a couple weeks ago. It comes from a time before PREPARE TO LE DIE and the game built around your character works fine. I have zero doubt that the remake has smoother controls and feels snappier in general, but if that's what I was looking for, why would I be playing Demon's Souls?
>less responsive controls are central to the game's identity
I can't counter this take but I won't respect it.
I haven't played past Bloodborne, but just seeing some of this shit, that is derided as Dark Rolls or some such other Roll-oriented pun, just seeing the constant god damn rolling around a Kaiju or gigashad knight who attacks faster than you despite being 10x your size with seemingly infinite stamina is simply fatiguing. I've seen enough examinations of the boss from ER's promo art that you know, having a boss like the Adjudicator that moves slower than John Candy on Black Friday is actually kinda refreshing.
