Junpei actually is much worse in the remaster compared to Yukari. That right art is just bad.

It's easy to imagine that if they couldn't get a few people they figured they might as well start fresh. Most of them came back for the last Dancing game just a few years ago, but this is obviously a much bigger project to commit to.
I think it’s a diversity hire type deal from Sega. Plus two VAs got cancelled. There is also an obvious financial aspect here too because the new guys are likely far cheaper. Michelle Ruff and Yuri Lowenthal alone are probably pretty pricey. Basically I think all the theories have some truth to them.
The majority returned for the Dance game not even that long ago though.

It's been close to five years, that was before the shit with Junpei's VA came out. Aigis's VA has also attracted controversy in the meantime though I don't think she's been blacklisted.
The Dancing game was also obviously a much smaller project, they're redoing the whole game plus have emphasized that they're adding more scenes between the cast.

In the recent interview they also mentioned the game will have quite a bit of voiced lines. P3D really didn’t have a whole lot of dialogue and was probably pretty cheap. I platinum trophied that game so I can confirm. I was one of 3 people who bought it.

exactly P3D and P5D have barely any story compared to 4's and pq2 wasn't dubbed at all. Aside from minor lines in Crosstag, they haven't done "real voice acting" since the arena games.

Her skirt isn't shorter, her forearm is just absurdly long in the original art to get her hand on her thigh. I like Soejima's designs, but his early art tended to have a lot of little mistakes like that.
I think the head-body proportion change is throwing you off. However even if the skirt is actually longer, then the legs are longer too given the skirt ends at the same point on her thigh. So effectively it's the same, ass is in same place in relation to the skirt end and so is the amount of exposed thigh.
She wasn't that surprised in the original cutscene either. She looked more apprehensive.

It's not as if the new UI is completely at odds with the old. P3's original aesthetic was really sort of minimalist too. And plus, from a developer's perspective, the P5 way of doing things at a button press probably seems objectively better than scrolling down a menu.
This is one of those things that oldgays who played the original games would get nostalgic about and overly attached to, but given that those who purchased and played P5 are around double that of the sales that P3 got, it does seem rather reasonable to me that they wouldn't "downgrade" to the less smooth experience purely for the sake of nostalgia. UIs will always tend to prioritize new consumers rather than existing ones because it's arguably much more important to them. For us, it's not even an inconvenience, it's just different and not what we're used to.
I wish they had leaned into it like Portable did rather than going in a completely different direction.

They haven't changed the setting. Persona does have continuity even if it's pretty loose, and changing the year would also frick up the Lunar Calendar which is pretty important.

One thing I think would have been good is if certain weapons changed the characters normal attack attributes. FES already had something like this in the form of certain elemental fusion weapons. But it could be expanded on. Like so:

You can tell already that it won’t be that different. A lot of P5 fans probably won’t like it that much. Characters being relatively indifferent to the protagonist will be a point of contention. Tartarus also seems to be basically the same aside from what sound like P5R Mementos type features. You’re gonna hear a lot of “The whole game is just Mementos!” Going forward.
I'm probably in the minority, but I actually liked the moronic teammates from the og (FES, technically). They felt like a bunch of tag-a-longs who followed me around for a bit before I soloed the rest of the dungeon in one night. Made the MC look like a certified badass carrying the whole ass world on his shoulders (with a little help from his friends), which works well thematically, now that I think about it.
I honestly just think that it'll just be P3 with a couple P5 mechanics like cooking and SL abilities. Sad that there will be basically no point to replaying it since I already experienced the story twice in FES and P3P and played the game in P5.

Weakest of the nusonas by far, but it had some decent moments and some good SLs. Style also carried it a pretty long way. Royal content was just shit and they didn't fix any of the problems the original had.
It's sort of funny how they always make the first Persona's summoning look so impressive, only for it to be revealed to be weak shit after. Though in Orpheus' case, immediately after it got summoned, Thanatos exploded out.
A handful of extra scenes aren't worth replaying a 100 hour game if they don't improve on what P3 was weak in. They're just sprinkles on a cake I've already eaten. I'll just watch the extra shit on YouTube and save 99 hours of my life.
At least the FeMC route made it worth a replay just to see all the minor changes they made.

True Demon ending is so popular and iconic that they made it canon with SMTV and made a whole DLC dedicated to it
The Answer and FeMC largely avoid criticism because they're completely optional. While The Answer is mixed, FeMC is pretty popular for understandable reasons. She can potentially compromise the game's themes, but that mostly depends on the player's actions. Her route gives different perspective on the story from top to bottom which anyone should be able to appreciate. I'm hostile to the people who want her in Reload not because she's inherently bad but because they don't appreciate that it would be a frickload of effort to remake the game again for her.
The Third Semester in Royal is universally considered an improvement from the vanilla game's final act. Even Kasumi as the new Atlus Remake Girl is much better received than Marie was, I wouldn't call her divisive.
Point is it seems fairly likely to me that Reload will probably have some big addition somewhere to make up for The Answer's absence. My bet? It's gonna be some kinda optional dungeon.

I don't think it does really, it does in contrast to this one piece of art, and in a way this art gives off more personality than any other art of him in my opinion and I used to dislike that he just came across as this pretty boy in most depictions of him, even elsewhere in P3, because I think this art gives more of a sense of him being this kind of anhedonic loner that I viewed him as at the start of the game even if he grows out of it. The key art of the protagonist for the remake feels consistent with most portrayals of the character in my opinion though, it's easy to feel like this depiction here is kind of the quintessential depiction of him, but I feel like it's actually the outlier, even if I'd prefer if it weren't.

It sounds like they knowingly and intentionally changed Door to look less how Soejima intended him to in P3 and more like the pretty boy in the movies and spin-offs.

The issue I have mostly comes from that outlier adhering closer to his starting character more than any other. They aren't planning on changing his character either so the new art that's being made isn't just not as accurate as this one, its of a completely different character. Like, imagine having a character like Chidori but all of her portraits are of her smiling and making kissy faces. The dissonance might cause some unintentional comedy, but its just downright inappropriate for the character.

Not a big surprise everybody sleeps on them when the first thing you see when you try them out is that they have no skills yet and you'll need to first invest in leveling them up before you can even learn what role in the team they'll have. Or you can bench them and keep using your party members that already have 8 skills by now.
My first playthrough, I never even realized Ken was supposed to be the second healer after Yukari since he doesn't start with Media and he needs to learn a skill first before you can see his next one will be Mediarama. Might have fricking used him if I knew that.
Ken's still kinda mediocre. The issue here lies in what kind of niche they're gonna try to carve out for him this time. If you give Yukari Wind Boost, Wind Amp, Salvation and probably even Concentrate, it's gonna be harder for Ken to keep up. Ken has too many things he's attempting to do.
My guess is they'll swap out his Zio skills with Bless instead. Possibly give him Mahamaon as well since it's weird he didn't have that to begin with. Single-target insta-kills are a meme. After that you have Primal Force, but it's probably only gonna make Ken like the #3 Phys user at best.

I think the head-body proportion change is throwing you off. However even if the skirt is actually longer, then the legs are longer too given the skirt ends at the same point on her thigh. So effectively it's the same, ass is in same place in relation to the skirt end and so is the amount of exposed thigh.
So that's why Kaneko went to the flower fields.

It's not as if the new UI is completely at odds with the old. P3's original aesthetic was really sort of minimalist too. And plus, from a developer's perspective, the P5 way of doing things at a button press probably seems objectively better than scrolling down a menu.
This is one of those things that oldgays who played the original games would get nostalgic about and overly attached to, but given that those who purchased and played P5 are around double that of the sales that P3 got, it does seem rather reasonable to me that they wouldn't "downgrade" to the less smooth experience purely for the sake of nostalgia. UIs will always tend to prioritize new consumers rather than existing ones because it's arguably much more important to them. For us, it's not even an inconvenience, it's just different and not what we're used to.

One thing I think would have been good is if certain weapons changed the characters normal attack attributes. FES already had something like this in the form of certain elemental fusion weapons. But it could be expanded on. Like so:

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually liked the moronic teammates from the og (FES, technically). They felt like a bunch of tag-a-longs who followed me around for a bit before I soloed the rest of the dungeon in one night. Made the MC look like a certified badass carrying the whole ass world on his shoulders (with a little help from his friends), which works well thematically, now that I think about it.
I honestly just think that it'll just be P3 with a couple P5 mechanics like cooking and SL abilities. Sad that there will be basically no point to replaying it since I already experienced the story twice in FES and P3P and played the game in P5.

Weakest of the nusonas by far, but it had some decent moments and some good SLs. Style also carried it a pretty long way. Royal content was just shit and they didn't fix any of the problems the original had.
It's sort of funny how they always make the first Persona's summoning look so impressive, only for it to be revealed to be weak shit after. Though in Orpheus' case, immediately after it got summoned, Thanatos exploded out.
A handful of extra scenes aren't worth replaying a 100 hour game if they don't improve on what P3 was weak in. They're just sprinkles on a cake I've already eaten. I'll just watch the extra shit on YouTube and save 99 hours of my life.

True Demon ending is so popular and iconic that they made it canon with SMTV and made a whole DLC dedicated to it
The Answer and FeMC largely avoid criticism because they're completely optional. While The Answer is mixed, FeMC is pretty popular for understandable reasons. She can potentially compromise the game's themes, but that mostly depends on the player's actions. Her route gives different perspective on the story from top to bottom which anyone should be able to appreciate. I'm hostile to the people who want her in Reload not because she's inherently bad but because they don't appreciate that it would be a frickload of effort to remake the game again for her.
The Third Semester in Royal is universally considered an improvement from the vanilla game's final act. Even Kasumi as the new Atlus Remake Girl is much better received than Marie was, I wouldn't call her divisive.
Point is it seems fairly likely to me that Reload will probably have some big addition somewhere to make up for The Answer's absence. My bet? It's gonna be some kinda optional dungeon.

It doesn't look that bad. The only one I have a real issue with is the MC's because it changes quite a lot about his perceived demeanor.
I don't think it does really, it does in contrast to this one piece of art, and in a way this art gives off more personality than any other art of him in my opinion and I used to dislike that he just came across as this pretty boy in most depictions of him, even elsewhere in P3, because I think this art gives more of a sense of him being this kind of anhedonic loner that I viewed him as at the start of the game even if he grows out of it. The key art of the protagonist for the remake feels consistent with most portrayals of the character in my opinion though, it's easy to feel like this depiction here is kind of the quintessential depiction of him, but I feel like it's actually the outlier, even if I'd prefer if it weren't.

It sounds like they knowingly and intentionally changed Door to look less how Soejima intended him to in P3 and more like the pretty boy in the movies and spin-offs.
Meh, he may be an emo kid, but even in the vanilla PS2 game, Door-Kun was still very much a typical pretty boy (no wonder Elizabeth wants so desperately to save him from his fate post Persona 3)

The issue I have mostly comes from that outlier adhering closer to his starting character more than any other. They aren't planning on changing his character either so the new art that's being made isn't just not as accurate as this one, its of a completely different character. Like, imagine having a character like Chidori but all of her portraits are of her smiling and making kissy faces. The dissonance might cause some unintentional comedy, but its just downright inappropriate for the character.

I'm curious about how they'll handle skills. The way P3 originally handled party balance was pretty iffy.

Here's the interesting issue though. If you give Yukari Wind Boost and Wind Amp, then that puts her in direct competition with Mitsuru as a black mage. She has a lower magic stat, but due to how Persona's damage formulas work, this won't really matter a ton as the Boosts and Amps are far more important. If you give her Concentrate while you're at it, then things start getting even more screwy. The issue? Yukari's also a healer, so if you also give her Salvation, then she'll be overall better than Mitsuru. Mitsuru's gonna need a second niche or else she'll be totally outclassed. Now granted, they each focus on different elements, but that doesn't really matter a ton overall.
Aigis is funny. You'll probably get to decide what skills she keeps, and that means that you'll have the option to keep Swift Strike. Due to how Persona's damage formulas work, Swift Strike is one of the strongest Phys skills in the game.
To get an idea of how silly the situation with Yukari and Mitsuru has the potential of being, here's a hypothetical optimized skillset for each:
Yukari:
>Garudyne (or possibly Panta Rhei)
>Magarudyne (or possibly Vacuum Wave)
>Wind Boost
>Wind Amp
>Concentrate
>Salvation
>Samarecarm

Ken and Koro will benefit a lot from probably being allowed to start out with more than just 3 skills this time. Not a big surprise everybody sleeps on them when the first thing you see when you try them out is that they have no skills yet and you'll need to first invest in leveling them up before you can even learn what role in the team they'll have. Or you can bench them and keep using your party members that already have 8 skills by now.
My first playthrough, I never even realized Ken was supposed to be the second healer after Yukari since he doesn't start with Media and he needs to learn a skill first before you can see his next one will be Mediarama. Might have fricking used him if I knew that.
Ken's still kinda mediocre. The issue here lies in what kind of niche they're gonna try to carve out for him this time. If you give Yukari Wind Boost, Wind Amp, Salvation and probably even Concentrate, it's gonna be harder for Ken to keep up. Ken has too many things he's attempting to do.
My guess is they'll swap out his Zio skills with Bless instead. Possibly give him Mahamaon as well since it's weird he didn't have that to begin with. Single-target insta-kills are a meme. After that you have Primal Force, but it's probably only gonna make Ken like the #3 Phys user at best.

P3 was still during a time when Soejima was kinda trying to mimic what Kaneko did. Sort of. There was still a ton of differences between how Soejima did things compared to Kaneko even back then, but he did make some attempts to keep things in line with previous games. And then he just decided "Frick it, I do what I want" and now we have a motorcycle Persona. I'm not really complaining though.
What people are probably missing is Soejima's old coloring style.
Atlus could've went for something similar to Stella Deus' character design in Metaphor, but chose a way gaudier look instead.
