>elden ring was masterpiece >boring world that puts form over function >horrible bosses >horrible enemies >reuse everything >shitty npcs >lame ending variety >worst balance in the entire series >music is forgettable, 2 good tracks >dungeons are meme levels of asset flip unity slop
Let me guess you also like starfield
As someone who also thinks ER is overrated as frick >mainline bosses are all unique and memorable >don't need to touch any of the dungeons after your first playthrough >NPCs are memorable >keeps getting balance patches
I do agree the endings are trash, and there are at least three tracks I can remember >Mogh >Godskin >Radagon
Ranni's and Frenzied Flame Endings are good for Fromsoft, the only issue being that those quests end way before you finish the game. It definitely would have benefitted things if you get directed into a specific "Maiden" questline early on based on your actions in Limgrave or something.
Yeah putting two optional bosses in the same room and make them mandatory is something I will remember next time I'll think about purchasing a game normgroids praised so much.

Godskin Apostle and Noble were both respectable bosses in their own right so an "Oh God I have to fight both of them?" moment is fine. The Spiritcaller one is the gayest though.
There is such a long period of time between Margit and Morgott and Morgott is so much more aggressive and dangerous with more AoE going on that it's a great rematch, particularly if you've pieced together more info about the character and have started figuring out what his deal was. It shows how far your character has come and how they match up.
Tree Sentinels are fair but they never give off the sense they're supposed to be unique.
Omen Mohg and Lord of Blood Mohg are two totally different animals and again there is probably like a 20 hour gap between them, if you fight both at all, which with Mohg definitely isn't guaranteed for plenty of people.

There are other Gods though: the Outer Gods
Includes the God of Rot, likely the Fell God (worshipped by the Fire Giants and still alive according to that one pyromancy), there's a mother goddess mentioned in Moghwyns Trident, the Frenzied Flame can be considered one, the Moons are probably one and there are a few others

Outer God just means "Outside the Golden Order" ie Not Marika. It's not a lovecraft thing. It's just the concepts Marika rejected when she formed her new Order trying to worm themselves back in after she shattered the Elden Ring.

I wouldn't say concepts, a lot of them are sentient abominations.
They are Lovecraftian by definition.

I don't think they are. They're sort of like nature spirits that other people have gotten their hands on and used to empower themselves. Malenia had Rot sealed inside of her body, Mohg found the Formless Mother in the depths and communes with her via his spear, we never see the Twinbird, and the player is the one who channels Frenzied Flame and becomes a Lord of Chaos.
They're not really Lovecraftian. Fundamentally the goal and nature of most of Lovecraft's deities was completely alien to humans and couldn't be comprehended on a simple Terran scope. That isn't true for most of Elden Ring's deities. They are confined to and have goals to influence the world in line with their nature, which follow themes and ideas humans get and can manifest. I view it as a Japanese Shintoism viewpoint of Gods bleeding into the Western aesthetics of the game causing confusion. They're not as complicated as people assume them to be.

Looking through it, I know their name is "Godskin" but none of their items descriptions ever actually say the skin they stitch together is made from slain Deities, indeed the Festival going on at Windmill Village seems to be regular people getting flayed alive for the Godskin Apostle there.

The godskin apostles are wearing the skin of demigods, of which there were many but most were shitters like Godefroy and Godfrey.

Everyone else who replied to you is wrong the Godskin Apostles are probably just wearing random normal people's skin, their goal is to eventually skin the gods but they havent gotten to that part yet.
I guess it's possible that a few of them wrecked some random golden lineage scrubs like the other anon suggested. It's also possible that they killed some random schmuck gods from the previous age during the GEQ days like the other anon suggested but neither of these have strong evidence outside the fact that they're God's that are otherwise not accounted for.
However we do have evidence that they're harvesting normal people's skin, the Noble in diminula is likely there to collect the skin after the women have skinned the men, and there is also flaying going in Volcano Manor which is likely why there's a Noble there.

Theres more gods than that. Theres Eiglay the Serpent who Rykard merged with, theres Malenia during P2 of her fight, theres the Fire Giant during the second phase when he becomes personally empowered by the Fell God. As for what they Apostles/Nobles wear it could be demigods or other deities not accounted for. It should be said that the Black Knives or Numen are said to be of the same type of humanoid that Marika is, theyr'e exceptionally tall and superhuman as well. Could also be them.

Demigods have godly DNA in them and the human portions of their blood are either exceptionally strong individuals like Rennala/Godfrey that may as well have been gods in their own right. Malenia and Miquella are considered demigods despite having technically pure "God" DNA.
Demigodskin Apostle just doesn't roll off the tongue as much.
Is AC6 the best selling mecha game of all time?
I have no idea what normal numbers are like for that genre, but I know it did pretty decent numbers even by Souls games standards.
Don't care about sales. It has the depth of a puddle and the multiplayer's already dead because of how lame all the systems they created for is.
First they turn soulborne into an Ubisoft amusement park open world with large chunks repeating til you get sick of it, then AC is turned into a parody of an AC game with hard-lock/ricochet/stagger/simplistic customisation.
Don't like what's happening to Fromsoft.

The exploration really doesn't amount to much, most of the open world content is you just going in a straight line like it's Skyrim over fields and hills that are basically pointless.
Boring empty worlds aren't freedom, they are just wastes of your time, shackling you to nothingness until you can actually get to something interesting and engaging.
There isn't much to do in ER open world.
That's the problem. homosexuals would complain regardless, but ER open world is still amateurish because it's their first open world game.
I don't have nothing against the open world, but if I had know they would take 2 years to make something that's probably not going to be as big as the base game I would've prefer something shorter and straight to the point.
this
i'll replay the whole game when the dlc releases and that's already like 60+ hours, i'd rather a more narrow but good content area than some more giant map shit
I wouldn't settle for that. At the very least I'd want something on the level of DS2 DLCs. Three legacy dungeons + some open world stuff to connect them instead of three separate teleports seems reasonable enough.
Ngl, probably my least favorite dlc they've made. Artorias, Manus, the dragon, the town, and the abyss are all quite bland. I respect it for it's time, but it doesn't hold up well imo
>and to make a good one, it takes years.
Only if on the level of Blood and Wine, or even HOS, but I bet even the one with the new map didn't take 2+ years
Yeah I don't think I ever played it, FO3 was a better example with its 4 smaller DLCs, except the Alien one but that was still kind of cool because like I said, it was one of four
And Fallout 3 had 4 small 'expansions', man can they build worlds fast, if only Emil could write a halfbaked story and quests in that time but he can barely do that
This has me a little excited because most of Elden Ring is already built, we might be getting it's New Vegas equivalent...one can hope

I haven't played through ER all the way yet, but how would people feel if they replaced every reskinned boss with a unique one (and kept some of the reskins) they weren't expecting to sell 20 million and were probably over the moon and trying to make this as good as possible, or like I said, improve the base game as well. Probably best to keep expectations in check maybe the lead guys took a 6 month vacation or something

That's a nice cope. Give me some of that
Ringed city didn't really expand the game like artorias or old hunters did. People still get autistic fixations with artorias, when he was just a throw away item description name in the base game. The crow goddess has more content than him in the base game, thats how much heavy lifting the abyss DLC did for him.
heh like FEAR: Perseus mandate, it’s technically an “expansion” of the first FEAR but it contains the whole game engine and you can play it standalone.
The only other game capable of doing something like this is Sonic & Knuckles with S3 or S2.
No, Black person it was 2 years ago. You know how I know this?
>training pharmacy tech students at my hospital in that same March after release >one of them is a super qt. 3.14 who used to work to work at a shipping dock >her husband is a streamer who was playing Elden Ring >mfw this chick is casually talking about a Souls game
It was then that I fully appreciated the scale of just how popular the game was.
Hope they're overhauling the inner workings of the game's codes like accommodating the expansion to the multiplayer component (official seamless co-op, more player limit) and stuff like widescreen support and bumping the fps limit.
Ideally they are doing a Scholar of the First Sin thing where they are adding in a ton of the cut content
I thought about what they could do for a SOTFS update of the game to refine it and I came up with a large list. Not sure how many are viable but most seem like okay changes.
https://pastebin.com/g0xDmt4e
I will actually be really dissapointed if there's no base game overhauls, I love ER, I'm just happy to see more of it, but... it's not a complete game, they didn't finish it and I hope they do now, I hope they can do a big re-release of ER defintive edition or whatever nad have it be succesful as hell, huge expansion pakcs that add a new context to the game, like MHW Iceborne, are not so usual anymore.
I wonder what an acceptable sales number would be for this... like... 6 million? DLCs don't retain players much usually, the vast majority of people who buy games don't even finish them lol
Most FromSoft games deserved a "definitive" edition where they actually finish them properly but it never happened. It's one of the great tragedies of vidya. Like a masterpiece painting by Da Vinci having one section damaged
The two big reasons are
1. They didn't plan a DLC ahead of time. All their previous DLCs were planned before release (Dark Souls 2 and 3 both had season passes).
2. The scale is way bigger because it's open world. Likely they're making an entire new region with multiple legacy dungeons and a bunch of side content.
He's an Empyrean so we can definitely marry him. Move aside Mohg, the bussy is mine.
you homosexuals will be very disappointed when Miquella is a girl in the DLC, because of Empyrean shit
reminder that the original concept for him was to appear as St.Trina, aka female alter ego
Uuh bros, why is he so different that the other japanese devs? >Dresses according to his age >He's not tweeting stupid fricking cringe bullshit everyday (does he even uses social media?) >He's not paying celebs to hang out with him >He climbed the ladder until he became the president of a company he basically catapulted to absolute success, yet he is still passionate about game design.
Is AC6 the best selling mecha game of all time?
I have no idea what normal numbers are like for that genre, but I know it did pretty decent numbers even by Souls games standards.
From knows this is a make or break moment for them. Elden Ring is their biggest game by far, sales-wise. They've hit mainstream and are unironically posting Call of Duty numbers. They know this DLC has the chance to solidify them as a major player to expand to more projects and maybe even self-publish.
I did another playthrough and just didn't move on to NG+ after elden beast so I would have a leveled enough character for SotE, why not do that if you're itching to play?
I did that. I just don't wanna burn myself. It's not like there ain't other stuff to play, i'm also itching to reinstall MH:W since the announcement on VGA.
It's not a very replayable game because the path to completing it is actually pretty linear and long as frick. You have to defeat certain bosses and certain areas no matter what and it's really draining unlike the other games in the series
I disagree. I replayed the game not for rushing towards the end but experiencing the challenges using a different character. The game makes it easier to speed through areas you don't wanna waste time thanks to the horse being available.
>The game makes it easier to speed through areas you don't wanna waste time thanks to the horse being available.
Except it actually takes longer than any other From game where you can speed past the majority of encounters in the level. The world is so large and the horse is so slow you are spending longer "speeding" through vast, empty areas to go from the Church of Elleh to Bestial Sanctum than it takes to run on foot from Firelink to Ash Lake. Christ, you sound like one of the people who actually was fooled by the use of speed lines in Gotham Knights.

The fact i can speed my way through sections in a more free and entertaining way than the old games is a plus to me. Which are games i love and i get the same vibe on ER in the dungeon areas which are just Souls levels placed around the map.

>Except it actually takes longer than any other From game where you can speed past the majority of encounters in the level.
as much as i'd like to disagree it's true to some extend, the more i replay the game the more tedious it becomed, the worst offender is liurnia by far. limgrave isn't bad unless you want to go to weeping than it's up there with liurnia. also frick going to full grown star beast for 5x smithing 6 because god forbid you use a non somber weapon
>You have to defeat certain bosses and certain areas no matter what
This is true of all of them? And it's way more draining in DS3 because it's almost the whole game.
Yes but Elden Ring has a gigantic open world in-between the linear set of bosses you need to fight and DS3 doesn't. After your first playthrough you could breeze through DS3
Its literally Dark Souls 4: Definitive Edition and post-BotW. Yes, its the best one of the bunch, but BB was more fun, and Sekiro is superior to both, I have 0 interest on a DLC. I also expect it to be a Miles Morales deal
I’ll say that BB literally is the perfect ratio of content. You get a diverse (not comprehensive) assortment of weapons with multiple functions and use. But the content is paced perfectly and filled with optional content that isn’t overly unnecessary or bloated. It’s a pitch perfect game in terms of not overstaying its welcome, which is important because these games typically lend themselves to burn out players. It’s similar to sekiro but you’re given even less variety in tools and enemies which despite its short length makes it feel more tedious and harsher as a result. It wants you to master the rhythm like push and pull of the posture system. But because of that once you master that the rest of the game is a cakewalk. I suppose you could say that sekiro pushed the envelope further as compared to Bloodbornes method. They’re both action games but they’re both on a curve. Whereas elden is simply more of the same. Like a lot of it. To the point where you get sick of it.
Yes burn out, once the game has been solved. It’s probably why they’re tweaking multiplayer in an attempt to keep people interested, but being killed by the latest new meta weapon isn’t endearing in the long run.
The game was at least 1/3 too big, recycling so many bosses ruined an otherwise great experience. Example, fighting Astel more than once ruined a really cool boss with cool lore.
iron balls and star fists, did a greatsword playthrough and not realy liking it, it's too slow on the recovery and somehow staggered worse than my iron balls

that or the Cipher Pata, the Jesus fists actually go insanely hard mostly because nobody builds for pure holy resist in PvP
Versus became XV, but a different director was placed in charge at that point, so it wasn't really Nomura's game any more.
Now for whatever reason, Nomura created a new Kingdom Hearts character that looks like the main character from Versus/XV and recreated shots from the original trailer with him, so it seems like he's trying to make a KH spinoff that is basically just his original vision for Versus.

>AN INSANE, IMPOSSIBLE DEADLINE LIKE CYBERPUNK
That game took 5 years and it was all on CDProjekt and it's executives for rushing it. Hardly an insane deadline IF they knew what the frick they were doing with it. But took them 7-8 years in total to release and fix it.
i hope the dlc is a smaller little world and not too annoying to explore on replay. i also hope we get lots of cool dlc-tier weapons like how they intropduced some rly neat stuff in ds3 dlc
Malenia is still decently fun even though WFD is bullshit and healing on block is just cheap.
No complaints about Placidusax though, it's the best dragon boss in the game. I liked Lichdragon as well, but all other dragons are just the same with a different color of elemental vomit and toe hugging.
Sir Rot oneshot oneshottington was my toughest boss in the game. Kept coming back after leveling up, still kept dying level 120. Shit was unreal, and I never hear anyone else b***h about him.
No the flying Dragon on the road to Castle Redman.
First time fighting that was a joke as my tank tear just killed 90% for me.
Did a summonless run, it was a lot harder but still only died 10 times, unlike the flying dragon with the one shot super breath it does over and over.
I can’t believe you guys didn’t have the same issue.
Oh yeah, a hundred percent. Placidusax is a spectacle whose fun to experience. His fight is chaotic and tonnes of his moves do bullshit damage that will instakill you, but because you're fighting a Dragon King from outside of time it feels fair that those lightning claws and Gidorah Beams, and Shin Godzilla Nukes do the damage they do, particularly since each one has so much warning of what's going to happen that even if you were fighting the boss for the first time, it doesn't feel unfair if you were being a dumbass and not running away from the Dragon clearly going super critical right in front of you.
Malenia would have been a funnier boss if she didn't have that health regen and didn't proc into Waterfowl right next to you even when you had her flinching. It's her signature move, it's good that it's dangerous, but it's bad that she was the only fight I had in the game where I was actively looking at her healthbar and thinking about her in strictly game mechanics in order to beat her. It made her feel like a Raid Boss in an MMO.
Really? I never had an issue with the third burst. Either I was going to be killed by the first two because I was out of position or I was in a good enough spot that the third wasn't going to be a game changer at all because I would clear it easily.
>if she didn't have that health regen and didn't proc into Waterfowl right next to you even when you had her flinching
The amount of time I got killed by this while using slow STR weapon.
Yes. Malenia is bullshit. >Frick up the timing of a roll >You get input read and instant kill >You summon someone >They just die to a waterfowl and she gets 1/5th of her healthbar back
lol no, i've beaten the game almost 20 times now and malenia is far from as bad as pacidutrash
placi phase two in a nutshell: >flies away into dive attack >dodge >have to run to him >before you get to him he teleports behind you >dodge into a single r21 because that's all you get assuming your weapon is fast enough >teleports again behind you, repeat 3 times >ok now he stopped better go in to attack >wow cool fire breath that covers 100% of his body, got to wait now >cool he stopped, go in for an attack >he flies away for another dive attack >rinse and repeat
shit boss, stalls harder than elden shit. people are only b***hing about malenia because they get fricked up by waterfowl and annoying hyperarmor and extension in phase 2 see

but at least you get a couple fricking hits in unlike that shit dragon
>Man got to Farum Azula without a single ranged attack in his entire arsenal.
"Moves to much" is a meaningful complaint for Elden Beast since he moves so far only the longest range attacks are going to reach him after her scuttles away. Placidusax is much more stationary in comparison. Throw a rock or something, Black person.
sure you can get ranged weapons but i don't frick like that in my pure melee playthroughs and bows suck late game, feelt good shredding him with shard spiral on my mage run before he could even get to phase two
Well that's a little moronic to be personally gimping yourself of a major aspect of the game on a late game boss and then act like it's the bosses fault. Though to be fair a lot of the grief towards Malenia is from the same source. She only does Waterfowl from Neutral or when you hit a health threshold, so throwing a rock or lightning at her when she's walking around will either force her to approach or make her trigger it when she's far away.
Malenia is hard carried by Waterfowl and her lifesteal mechanic, if she didn't have the latter it'd be completely trivial to just shield and poke her to death so yeah Placidusax aka "I stop the music for a second to say 'frick it' and nuke half the arena" is better
Hell no, Placidusax is such a snore fest I beat him first try on my blind run whereas Malenia took me a weekend.
Malenia isn't perfect because her whole fight boils down to playing the waterfowl mini game but the waterfowl mini game is more fun than an oversized punching bag with two heads.
Hard doesn't mean good, moron
And as other anon said she is only hard because her 3-stage attack leeches health and is the toughest attack out of any Fromsoft boss to dodge reliably
>Hard doesn't mean good, moron
Yes but Malenia is a mediocre hard boss whereas Placi is a bad easy boss and mediocre > bad irrespective of the difficulty
They're not doing that. If they do then I would be the happiest person in the world because I think the game is severely brought down by the constant reused enemies/bosses and other design choices that could be easily fixed. But they won't do anything on the level of SOTFS. No chance
Why wouldn't they? There is a ton of content there that wasn't added because it couldn't be refined in a timely manner. They did it to a lesser extent in SotFS so they could definitely do it for SotE
1. Dark Souls 2 was controversial enough to where they felt obligated to revamp the game a little with a new edition. Elden Ring is unanimously praised and its faults aren't highlighted as much so they have less pressure to fix the problems
2. FromSoft's games are always unfinished and unpolished despite their high quality. They've never gone back and refined their games aside from DS2 so there's no reason to believe they'll do it now with their biggest game ever. Even when they remaster and remake their games, they don't finish them (Lost Izalith still shit in the DS1 remaster, the snow level still missing from Demon's Souls remake)
The cut quests like the dreambrew thing they did were such wasted potential considering how they add to the story and the open-world interaction, it can't be that hard to recontextualize some of the stuff into the DLC.
they thought they were some big shit like Squenix or Capcom and tried to make brand new mechanics but then they realized they can't code anything other than soulslop lmao
>Godskin Apostle >mainline (required) >Godskin Noble >mainline (required) >Mogh >mainline (required) >Tree Sentinels >plural >mainline (required); the only one necessary blocks access to the back entrance to Leyndell
Good to know you homosexuals can read.
there's barely any frenzy flame shit at all in the game despite playing the most important role in the story. there's like 5 spells and 2 frenzy villages
pvp gays who look up where to get their pvp items for their youtube created pvp builds can keep seething all they want. elden ring exploration was great if you actually discovered things naturally instead of using youtube or the wiki for everything. You ruined the greatest game of the decade for yourself for a sub-par mini game. good job idiots
This perfectly describes my compliant with owlcat. I feel like the games meant to played with a build guide and not for people like us.
Nobody I hate on this board more than the fricks who save scummed, build guideded, and respected constantly in BG3, than b***hed how the game was too easy.
I’m sorry buddy, there’s no way you did. Every single side quest had somebody showing up at a completely random spot, for a limited time. No way you came across a lot. How many side quests do you think are in the game?
Ending I believe, it was much less random and the most straightforward out of any souls game.
Ranni was my first ending and i also didn't look it up. The game is really forgiving with her quest and it's the one with the most pointers.
I think the only thing i did look it up was where the meteor fell because i couldn't find it and didn't want to chase it all around the map.

>They realized it was bullshit guesswork.
It wasn't, you're just stupid. The logical thing to do is go to the birds-eye telescopes and scout out the world. When you warp to the Limgrave birds-eye telescope you'll see a massive fricking object in the sky, and unless you're literally braindead, you will realize what is going on.

I did. It's not hard, I just explored. Ranni's is so fricking easy to complete that she was the most common ending on release. >How many side quests do you think are in the game?
The only ones I didn't finish were the sorcery teacher lady, I forget her name, Yuria's, and Goldmask's.

No you are clearly delusional and/or painfully argumentative. This is why you don’t have friends. Everyone knows the side quests were a joke and the fact you just casually think you did them no problem is a lie. The funniest part is I believe you believe you really did, like Kanye West reminiscing about how he single handedly got Trump elected. Both of you living in your own reality where can never be wrong.

or my favourite of exploring and finding tucked away caves and mines and catacombs is being rewarded with a repeat of an enemy you already fought a dozen times but this time it has a boss health bar. The exploration largely has nothing new or interesting to show you or find.
The problem with this line of thinking is you’re deliberately leaving out how many of those random items you picked up were weapons, arts, spells, talismans, or titanites etc. If you try to replay the game without picking up items you miss out on a lot of good loot
>The exploration largely has nothing new or interesting to show you or find.

They're taking time developing a new huge empty map for you to not give a frick about, but will absolutely win the hearts of game journos and mainstream gaming media in general. Did you not enjoy the huge map with nothing in it before? Did you not enjoy the dungeons that rewarded you with spirits you never used? or did you really not enjoy exploring the woods to find some generic flowers or grass for shit you never bothered to craft. Come on now, you enjoyed that right? so it's 2 years + tip for a new map to do all of that again! And maybe a new skin for the horse!
I'm so fricking done with their rolling games, I hope they make more shit like AC6 in the future and not this shit. I even hope for a modern King's Field game at this point. Anything other than this rollspam in a huge map shit.
>a new place for you to not care about
I will care about it because I'm going to kill every living thing inside it, because I am the punishment of the erdtree
If these homosexual morons hadn't been such goddamn Black folk, the erdtree would not have sent a punishment like me upon them
Considering AC6 came out with much better optimization, from the 120fps limit to ultrawide support to photo mode, it's embarrassing to see considering that the game came out only a year after ER which had atrocious performance at launch. It's like night and day.
Imagine you get constant messages saying she invades you, but shes invisible like the Black Knives in Ordina so she randomly just comes behind and one-shots you
Not having her character be more developed was a pretty big blunder for the game's story. They could have dropped every single generic ending and like half those characters. Keep Fia because she's important to Godwyn's stuff and tied into Ranni's questline. Drop Goldmask and PooPoo Nibbler because the first is literally just the exact same angst Marika and Radagon are having and Dung Eater is a nonsensical and shitty version of the conclusions Morgott and Mohg come to as characters.
I love Goldmask and Dung Eater having endings, just due to them demonstrating the idea of basically if someone is autistic enough they can rewrite the laws of reality. And Dung Eater being totally fricked up and depraved really adds a lot to the richness of the world. If he just died down in the sewers or something it would be a bit anticlimactic, but no, he actually CAN irreparably curse the entire fricking world with your help. That's a based quest right there.
It's garbage. Everything about those characters is hearsay and rumor the character never engages with. They have no substance. Mohg and his dynasty and it's repercussion are much more interesting than Dung Eater. Radagon's fundamentalism and his struggle to maintain the Golden Order as Marika herself tries to shatter it is way more interesting than Funny T pose man. If there was a Mohgwyn Dynasty Ending or a Radagon ending, that would be cool. What we got is the garbage of two losers
Fia doesn't even feel like she should have a mending Rune ending, her goal should just be the restoration of Death so Those Who Live in Death can move on. The Prince of Death Rune is redundant when it comes to the character's actions.
You act like them adding those endings was mutually exclusive. Some janky NPC quests plus a recolored ending took no dev time. If there was no Dung Eater, there still wouldn't be a Mohg ending
No, my point is that should have dropped those two NPCs and their quests and "endings" entirely. Out of the mending Rune quests only Fia is really interesting and even there her conclusion doesn't feel like it should be producing a Mending Rune anyway.
I was super burned out by the time I finished the base game, I'm glad they've taken so long because now I'm actually ready to play through the game again tbh
I wonder when they started development, even when they only started after the release, let's say March last year, there's like 1.5 years of dev time and then some, which is longer than most expansions or even a full video game development.
I talked to someone working on the game. It wasn't ready for showing at the Game Awards but they tried. They expect it to come out by April, but more a release window, not a date. I know a few more details but won't say much more. Just don't worry about them skimping on the size.
they're making a whole extra zone that probably has its own underground or sky level layered in too, I expect a bunch of reused bosses and assets and people yelling "TWO/THREE YEARS" when it actually comes out
>not Miquella's Dream Tree Spirit which is the exact same except it inflicts sleep >also Frenzied Tree Spirits that are also also the same except madness and they threw four of them in one arena
The only people From are hurting are themselves, the longer it takes the come out the higher people's expectations will be. Although, people loved Ashes of Ariandel even though it's objectively the worst DLC they ever made so I've been wrong before.
>I expect a bunch of reused bosses and assets
People talked shit about From reusing assets, I'd say, they didn't do it enough. With a game as big as Elden Ring, they need more variety and they had plenty of assets since like Demon's Souls days to choose from. Frick it, use all of them, polish/re-texture them to contextualize with the lore, maybe tweak the animation rig a bit to fit the gameplay and shit, and bam, just let them loose.
They definitely did that to a few of the enemies. I agree I wouldn't have minded seeing more; some of the fun can go into figuring out what was used in the "DNA" of the new enemies.
They reused basically everything from DS3 and a lot of Bloodborne and Sekiro shit, and even some DS1 shit
they literally can't go further back, because DeS had such low fidelity shit
>It's a other "soijak-looking motherfricker makes a 50 minute video essay doomposting about Elden Ring DLC" episode
b***h I don't wanna hear about why Fromsoft is finished, I wanna hear why you apparently haven't showered since Elden Ring released
Presumably defeating Mogh will be the requirement to enter the DLC unless its a time-warp thing which would be gay
As amazing as it being like SotFS would be I don't want to have to rebuy the game
lol what
Both of those versions you're still open to do more. Besides the Expansion will be in a dreamscape St. Trina realm anyway so you can have anyone in there.
>The meek sought God in the trees. Yggdrasil, the tree of life bestowed the gifts of plenty, joy and health. They remained and hardship set in. They found a spark which turned into a Sun, driving away the cold. Terrible trouble came. The Sun ended this conflict. This age continued and began an era of wealth and plenty. Man will ascend. Cold will return.
Deepest lore.
>By the way, The Greater Will is literally just the Sun.
It isn't, the Greater Will sent the Elden Beast on a meteorite, and it takes HUNDREDS of years to communicate with it.
There's other trees and Elden Beasts in the universe.
>It isn't, the Greater Will sent the Elden Beast on a meteorite
The Sun is responsible for the vast majority of Meteors in our solar system
and it takes HUNDREDS of years to communicate with it.
People falsely equate this with distance as opposed to it simply not really caring at that moment >There's other trees and Elden Beasts in the universe.
There are other Trees, we see them growing but there is no reason to think there are other beasts or that those tress have somehow gotten to other planets. The Greater Will has nothing to do with the Erdtree, that was Marika's thing.
The Elden Beast's tail consists of tree roots, the Elden Beast controls the Erdtree, the Elden Beast embodies the Elden Ring, Trees are viewed as the symbol of the Golden Order, The Fire Giants were executed and impaled by tree roots. The only other creatures in the game which look like the Elden Beast are Falling Star Beasts, who also travel like meteorites.
The Elden Beast is a vassal to the Elden Ring, controlled by Marika who is the Visionary for the Greater Will's Order. It came to embody aspects of that Order but when Marika's Faith was sundered due to the death of Godwyn and she desired to Change that Order the Elden Beast wouldn't allow it.
The Elden Beast is never implied to control the Tree. Radagon is the one who blocks off the tree, the Roots bear the same Seal seen on his Scar Seal. Trees symbolize the Golden Order because Marika decreed it would be a symbol of her Order, the same way the Dark Moon represents Ranni's. The Thorns of the Giants could be from the Thorn Sorcerers who are present on the Mountain. Astel looks nothing like the Elden Beast
Elden Beast is a golden star that was sent down by the Greater Will WHICH BECAME THE ELDEN RING, in-game text description.
> The Elden Beast is never implied to control the Tree.
It's explicitly stated that the Elden Ring locked Radagon and Marika in the Tree as punishment for blasphemy
> Trees symbolize the Golden Order because Marika decreed it would be a symbol of her Order,
It's because the power comes from the tree, and FIRE is its NATURAL OPPONENT, which is why the Fire Giants were obliterated
> Astel looks nothing like the Elden Beast
Entities made of cosmic stars that came down on meteorites
No it didn't. Placidusax is specifcally called an Elden Lord meaning he brandished the Elden Ring which came down with/as the Elden Beast (the Beast is basically the avatar of the Elden Ring)
It's stated the prehistoric age BEFORE the Erdtree was ruled by Placidusax and his unnamed Dragon God, there was just the crucible.

I'm telling you what the text in-game said verbatim. He was Elden Lord BEFORE the age of the Erdtree.
A tree structure existed in the form of the Crucible, so maybe he ruled over that, but there was NO Elden Ring, the game makes that explicitly clear. The Elden Ring is literally the Elden Beast, it's not native to Earth.

>He wouldn't be called Elden Lord if the Elden Ring/Elden Beast didn't exist
That's where you're fricking wrong.
Eld is a word with an actual meaning, not a unique title Fromsoft came up with. There doesn't need to be an Erdtree for there to be an Elden Lord.
Eld / Erde / refer to nature and earth. Elden Lord just means " Lord of Nature ", Erdtree just means "Tree of Nature / Mother Tree / Earth Tree".
If you ignore the chosen etymology of the game's world, Asian translations say "Golden Tree", and "Golden Lord".
These are titles that can exist Independently. Placidsax was the strongest creature "Lord of Nature" and he was also a literal "GOLDEN LORD".
So the translation goes against what you say, as does the IN-GAME CANONICAL DIALOGUE, where they say "PLACIDUSAX WAS ELDEN LORD before THE ELDEN TREE and ELDEN RING"

Yes, and do you know what the game says about when the Age of the Erdtree began?
When a golden star carrying the Elden Beast / Elden Ring, came down to Earth and created the Golden Tree (Erdtree) that defines the Age of the Erdtree. This was followed by zealotry against Dragons, Giants, Omens, Gods, and other organisms outside of the designs of the Golden Order.

>It's explicitly stated that the Elden Ring locked Radagon and Marika in the Tree as punishment for blasphemy
Queen Marika is the vessel of the Elden Ring, carrier of its vision.
A god, in truth. But after the Elden Ring's shattering, she was imprisoned in the Erdtree.
A grim punishment for shattering the Order, despite her godhood. The Fingers speak...
"Marika's trespass demanded a heavy sentence. But even in shackles, she remains a god, and the vision's vessel."
It is said that long ago, the Greater Will sent a golden star bearing a beast into the Lands Between, which would later become the Elden Ring.
It was the vassal beast of the Greater Will and the living incarnation of the concept of Order
Marika was punished for sundering the Order she was supposed to uphold as a servant to the Greater Will, not because of Blasphemy. The sentence structure is unclear if it is the Star or the Beast who become the Elden Ring.

>Marika was punished for sundering the Order she was supposed to uphold as a servant to the Greater Will, not because of Blasphemy.
That's what blasphemy means man. Damaging the Golden Order is blasphemy. Fricking burning the tree is called blasphemy.
" Blasphemy, is an insult that shows contempt, disrespect or lack of reverence concerning a deity, an object considered sacred or something considered inviolable. "
> The sentence structure is unclear if it is the Star or the Beast who become the Elden Ring. > unclear
The Elden Beast and the Elden Ring both embody the Golden Order, they both have tree roots at the bottom, and they transform into each other ON SCREEN.

No it's not. Marika is literally the Golden Order's God. By definition she is not capable of blasphemy. That's why her actions and seemingly contradictory nature of what She, Radagon, and the Elden Beast are all doing make the Two Fingers go into shock. The PLAYER commits Blasphemy by destroying the Erdtree, the seat of the Golden Order, which destroys the roots but very noticeably has no effect on Marika, Radagon, or the Elden Beast who are chilling inside.
They embody the CONCEPT of ORDER. Marika's Vision of how to enforce that Order in accordance with the Greater Will is what creates her Golden Order which she then begins her series of Conquests to enforce. Personally I would also lean towards the Elden Beast being the Elden Ring Itself, but it raises the question why does killing it not destroy the Elden Ring?
Anonymous
Greater Will > Elden Beast > Marika >= Radagon, in terms of divinity in the Golden Order Religion. That's why I used the world "blasphemy".
Marika's job is to do what the Greater Will wants, shattering the Elden Ring/Beast, the very thing that channels the Golden Order on EARTH, is about the worst thing Marika can do.
As Marika grew older, she also preached that "blind faith" in the Golden Order should be reduced and they should start questioning / analyzing it.
This indicates Marika AS A PERSON is ultimately just an agent. Radagon was not on the same page.
> why does killing it not destroy the Elden Ring?
Radagon was killed NOT the Elden Beast.
Either way, game states Elden Beast = Elden Ring.

Radagon is literally a vessel a tool, his body literally becomes the sword the elden beast fights you with. It doesn’t get anymore obvious than that in terms of themes. Marika left back doors in the plans of the Elden beast and had to be “taken care” of. Radagon was the solution.

Yes, that's true, but the status as a vessel also applies to Marika, the player character kills Radagon but not Marika.
Marika's scheming is interesting.

>in terms of divinity in the Golden Order Religion
The Greater Will and Elden Beast are not acknowledged as even existing in the broader context of the Golden Order's Faith. Only the Fingers and Finger Readers address the importance of the Greater Will in the scheme of things, and Corrhyn calls their prayerbook a heresy that bears no lineage to the Erdtree.
Marika's Job is to establish Order. Any Order so long as it's enforced. In exchange the Greater Will gave her God like powers. She used that, stripped the concept of Death from the Elden Ring, beginning her Golden Order where she and her offspring would rule as Immortals. Yes shattering the Elden Ring when she began doubting the integrity of the Faith she established was a major break in her Covenant to the Greater Will, but it is not Blasphemy.
Marika was delving the depths of the Order she established, the fundamental qualities of it. She was establishing Fundamentalism, that's why the Golden Order Seal is in the Minor Erdtree Church where Melina recites those words. It's not her Faith in the Greater Will she's talking about, she's talking about the Theology of her Religion.
>Radagon was killed NOT the Elden Beast. >Either way, game states Elden Beast = Elden Ring.
No we definitely kill the thing and get a big "GOD SLAIN" announcement. Radagon/Marika is turned into the Sword, and their body remains. I could go either way if the Elden Beast is the Ring or merely it's Guardian, but again, if we kill the Elden Beast which we obviously do, why does the Elden Ring reappear in Marika's body?
Anonymous
It has a remembrance so it's definitely killed in the form of the Elden Beast.
Smaller Erdtrees are embodied by the Guardian Tree Spirits, but the Trees don't die when the Tree Spirits die.

Because the Erdtree is largely unrelated to the Elden Ring. The Erdtree is just the Crucible retrofitted to serve as the Capital for Marika's Golden Order and a host for the Elden Ring, empowering her soldiers with the blessings that flowed from it for a short time to produce the Crucible Knights who accompanied Godfrey. It became an Icon for the Golden Order but as it started to stagnate and wither it's practical importance diminished while it's role as an Icon of Marika's capital became it's defining focus. That's why people stopped looking favorably on Omens and Misbegotten.
We burn the Erdtree but the Elden Beast isn't harmed by that. Erdtree Avatars are just guardians, not the Erdtree itself.

>That's why people stopped looking favorably on Omens and Misbegotten.
This is due to Marika's fundamentalism.
The Crucible Knights have more to do with the previous culture of the region before the Erdtree. They were Godfrey's contemporaries.
> We burn the Erdtree but the Elden Beast isn't harmed by that. Erdtree Avatars are just guardians, not the Erdtree itself.
maybe the star is the ring not the beast and that's why only the beast dies. I hate the way that ingame statement is written. It makes it unclear.
Especially since other beings called Stars are aliens.
The Elden Ring/Beast existed before the Age of the Erdtree. We know of one before the Erdtree (the reign of Placidusax). The player then ushers in a new Age since the Erdtree is burned based on whatever ending you choose; regardless you start a new Age brandishing the Elden Ring (except for Chaos and Stars ending
Yes, but it was sent down as a meteorite by the Greater Will.
The Crucible existed before, and the Elden Ring (Elden Beast) hijacked it like a parasite. The Crucible was the natural flow of life and souls on Earth (or just the lands between) BEFORE the Greater Will and the Elden Ring. This is represented by the Omens and the misbegotten, traces of life's unfiltered energy before the Golden Order took over.
The Dragonlord ruled over this era BEFORE the Elden Beast was sent down.
No it didn't. Placidusax is specifcally called an Elden Lord meaning he brandished the Elden Ring which came down with/as the Elden Beast (the Beast is basically the avatar of the Elden Ring)
But wouldn't it be Plasfifdidd's god who brandishes the ring? Like, Godfrey's not the one with the Elden Ring in his chest. Marika is
6 months ago

Yeah I misremembered. Placidusax was the Godfrey of his time; an item says he was awaiting his god
However, he still doesn't predate the Beast because the Beast and Ring are one and the same
>By the way, The Greater Will is literally just the Sun.
It isn't, the Greater Will sent the Elden Beast on a meteorite, and it takes HUNDREDS of years to communicate with it.
There's other trees and Elden Beasts in the universe.
I saw a theory saying the Greater Will is like a "council" of all the various gods
I am here, discussing deep lore instead of posting a virtual barbie doll. These gays are starting to give me a negative view on character customization in games.
They live in close proximity to the Nox, who might be of Numen ancestry (the black knives were Numen, and are connected to the eternal cities, so it's not too much of a stretch).
Nta but right now the DLC has the same dev time as Fallout New Vegas' entire development. Only that New Vegas had the existing Van Buren design document to steal from and FS had to build this from scratch in comparison so I'm not sure if it compares.
You get actual branching RPG quests in the game with lots of dialogue.
Dominula becomes a faction, and you can feed them unwitting NPCs. If you send them Dung Eater, they will contract every disease in the book and die.
Godskin Duo would be fine if they shoved it away somewhere in a Hero's grave like they did with the Crucible knight Duo.
Faram Azula really should have a second unique boss, same with Leyndell 1st visit.
Yes. Even if you don't have the DLC anyone you play with/against can use the DLC weapons, armor, spells, etc. It was like this for all previous souls games as well.
It adds a Miquella ending + 3 associated areas and a new legacy dungeon, restores Melina's quest, and adds ranked matchmaking to the pvp along with massive changes to weapon and item balance. The netcode is also overhauled. Basically, start a new playthrough to enjoy it properly.
They're trying to copy and paste enough content from the last game to consider it a new game to win GOTY again... so they have to wait for the new year
Nah, at best if you might get some returning areas but they will be distorted and twisted like previous DLCs do. Even then that will be like the first area, then all the later areas will be brand new.
>Spoken echoes of Queen Marika linger here as well. Shall I share them with you? >In Marika's own words. O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order. Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god. Let us be shattered, both. Mine other self.
Why are people on Ganker constantly trying to tell me that Marika and Radagon never physically split into two different people when she herself flat-out admits that that's what happened?
Bro your own blurb contradicts herself. Radagon is Marika, but not the God. Even there in the quote she says that the act she is about to pursue will shatter both of them and that he is her other self.
Chronologically there is no time in which it makes sense for them to be separate or a process for them to be merged. The two of them have been sealed together in the Erdtree since the Shattering. Before that when they "ruled together" that sculptor discovered the "skeleton in the closet" of their shared identity. The Masks of Confidence of those who served Radagon and Renalla when they were married very clearly hint that there was an important secret they had to keep to themselves. What that Secret was is obvious. Before the invasion of Liurnia Radagon essentially did not exist according to Muriel or Goldmask.
There's already best-supported game category or something like that. It would be nice if there was a best expansion category though, the industry seems to gearing up for expansion models these days.
>only decent game I played in 2022 was ER >only decent game I played in 2023 were ER but switching up builds and areas to tackle >only decent game I played in 2024 is SOTE which will have a new land and drastically alter the world
I dunno if this speaks more about the gaming world now or Fromsoftware itself.
That pozzed little israelite that blew up Miyazaki’s spot was a set-up for this. I bet they’re changing the DLC completely and the cut content will be a roadmap of cut stories and other fun mechanics that they “couldn’t get working quite right” I have no doubt that Fromsoft got some eyes on them and need to be made an example of.
Bros what's the consensus on it being called an expansion? Are we expecting some Bloodmoon/Solstein type shit where we get a separate endgame island or more of "miquella's wacky dream world" shenanigans? Really wish they'd stop doing the latter to be honest. Are we expecting some changes/additions to the main map as well or is that asking too much? Really don't know what to think
We're in uncharted territory, I don't think From ever called the stuff expansion before until this time. Who knows, like you said I hope it's not separate from the base game like their usual stuff.
>want to replay elden ring >remember needing to go to each corner of the map to get golden seeds and sacred tears >remember godskin duo >remember the entirety of the snowy mountain area after the capital

godskin duo

Most Golden Seeds are pretty easy to find. You can reach max pretty easily and thr little trees are obvious to see
Sacred Tears are even easier just visit every church which are clear to see on the map
You know what, I can see them putting the game and the DLC as a bundle for Switch 2 third-party launch titles. Not exactly the first time they ported their Souls game.

Buts it’s foreign and alien in origin. You could argue the abyss was like that in DS1 but the greater will is clearly not native to the lands between. It’s an establishment of something anathema to humans treating them as something to be recycled because they carry shards/runes of its power.
>It’s an establishment of something anathema to humans treating them as something to be recycled because they carry shards/runes of its power
Sounds like *puts on joker mask* society *drops mic*
At this point Im indifferent to it. I found Artorias dlc to be lackluster, one long hallway. And ER was one big field with nothing in it. No, wait, it had combat. By god did it have much combat. Im of the idea that combat and difficulty is the worst thing in souls games but see them as necessary to make the world interesting and worth exploring to learn more about. But ERs combat to exploring and level design ratio was heavily skewed toward the former, then you just get tired of yet another superfast boss that has linked their dodge button to your attack button. Theres no pacing, because with torrent you can run past everything. Oh whats that item behind five trolls, fifty goblins and guarded by a dragon? An artoria leaf. Or you can just go magic and exploit the AI they havent updated in ten years.
Might give it another shot, but the game was way too tedius and I stopped my regular level 1 run Ive done of all the other From games because just horseriding for hours on end to pick up items was too fricking dull.
I haven't been on Ganker in awhile, do switch-only tendies really just squat in threads and theorize about how they'll eventually get [Insert Game]? This is sad
They really should make it so you can add armor to Torrent or boost his health with runes. >but Horse Armor and Bethesda!
Just make it something you can obtain. Tree Sentinel skin, Badlands Armor and thats it.
why did they add non-alterable sets that are still separate drops called altered/unaltered with single-digit percent drop rates?
why does the alteration mechanic barely do anything except 'cape/no cape' when there are armor sets in-game that literally change their look depending on what other pieces you have equipped?
why can't you change armor (metal) colors?
simple answer, they just didn't think about it or didn't think it was worth the time to put in, maybe that'll change in the future considering how much they've already changed for the sake of customization in the base game alone though
Content density. In version 1.00 of the game you could switch between whatever version of the clothing you wanted. For example the bandit set could be transformed into the Raptors feathers (sans aerial attack bonus).
Christ that sounds better, why not just make THAT the end reward of Boc's quest? At least then you have to explore like they want you to and do a lot of running around if they didn't want it available from the start
That shits hilarious because how did these weird artificial people become beast masters. How the hell do you endear ants to you? It’s not like the night maidens mist is a pheromone or some shit. That being said they’re great.
>How the hell do you endear ants to you?
They literally didn't. They use magic to shackle the ants to their will. That's why if you knock the rider off the ant, the Ant will actually attack the Noxian first.
A Melania ending would also be awesome if we could cure her and make her our consort.
At the very least I'd like to be able to talk to her and learn more about her.
>no actual "Team up with Rykard" ending where you create the Mending Rune of the Blasphemous and devour the concept of gods >no Mohg ending where you reign in the Moghwyn Dynasty with a consort of your choice >no Malenia ending where you go full rotgay and turn everywhere into Caelid >no Miquella ending where you defeat Mohg, properly ascend Miquella to his uncursed Empyrean state, and have him take you as consort for immortal bussy
that last one might actually end up happening though
>no actual "Team up with Rykard" ending where you create the Mending Rune of the Blasphemous and devour the concept of gods
Maybe if they add covenants they'll be nice enough to have this as well.
>no actual "Team up with Rykard" ending where you create the Mending Rune of the Blasphemous and devour the concept of gods
Maybe if they add covenants they'll be nice enough to have this as well.
He eats your ass and you become family, that's the ending. No team ups or mending runes.
The NPCs having different outcomes other than being dead in their quest's endings would be nice, yeah. It might be a novel concept in 2011 but not anymore, especially with the game that concerns itself with ambitions as its main theme and how less apocalyptic the setting is this time.
In any Order ending that doesn't forsake the Erdtree, even in the Duskborn and Omen Curse ending, all characters includjng NPCs are resurrected in either life or death, so Elden Ring has easily the happiest ending for all NPCs potentially
I don't care what any of you in this thread have yet said, the only important thing we can all unanimously acknowledge is that rennala is best girl and sex with rennala. rannigays need not apply that is all.
She is but shes too mindbroken. You spend your whole life becoming powerful enough to match the other half of a god, start a family of exceptional people with a strong marriage and he just ditches you. Then you get locked in the tower by your own mages.
I didn't ask for another open world map, I would've been happy with just a big legacy dungeon, something with the length of Artorias of the Abyss.
You WILL explore every empty pixel and you WILL be happy
kys. elden ring was masterpiece, the dlc will be as well
>t. Bandwagon jumping homosexual who started with Elden Slop.
>being such a philistine you cant see that elden ring mogs the entire industry on art direction alone

Nope, both shit. I'm not forced to pick a side.

Do you enjoy videogames?
As someone who also thinks ER is overrated as frick
>mainline bosses are all unique and memorable
>don't need to touch any of the dungeons after your first playthrough
>NPCs are memorable
>keeps getting balance patches
I do agree the endings are trash, and there are at least three tracks I can remember
>Mogh
>Godskin
>Radagon
Ranni's and Frenzied Flame Endings are good for Fromsoft, the only issue being that those quests end way before you finish the game. It definitely would have benefitted things if you get directed into a specific "Maiden" questline early on based on your actions in Limgrave or something.
Godrick and Rykard's tracks were based too
How the hell did I forget to mention Godrick's?
It's literally my favorite track, and I fought him two nights ago.
Yeah putting two optional bosses in the same room and make them mandatory is something I will remember next time I'll think about purchasing a game normgroids praised so much.
>mainline bosses are all unique and memorable
>uses morgott and mohg twice
>uses godskins everywhere
Eldenjaks... we got played...
fake Mogh is optional, and Margit and Morgot are two completely different fights.
bosses are all unique
We're just going to sweep the Margit expies under the rug, huh
bosses are all unique and memorable
Except the godskin duo
And both margits
And the tree sentinels
And both Mohgs
And--
Godskin Apostle and Noble were both respectable bosses in their own right so an "Oh God I have to fight both of them?" moment is fine.
>Omen Mohg and Lord of Blood Mohg are two totally different animals and again there is probably like a 20 hour gap between them
Dude you can fight Mohg as soon as you kill ANY shard bearer.
How's that? I thought you either had to do Varr's quest or go through the Snowfield portal.
Pretty sure you need either Two Runes or to kill Radahn to get to Leyndell to access the Underground
> tree sentinels
>mainline bosses
so you are moronic? got it!
>not mainline even though you need to kill him to get into the capital
Okay what is mainline then? Cutscene bosses?
None of the Tree Sentinels or the Draconic ones are required bosses btw
Best moment was against the godskin noble, him fatrolling with the gregorian chant peaking in the background was like witnessing a true miracle of the greater will
>The only gods are Marika, the fingers, and the ayyy lmaos
>demi-gods are her children through Radagon and Godfrey
Who's skin are these Black folk wearing?
The gods killed by the Gloam-Eyed Queen.
Which gods? Is this another fromsoft thing where tall humanoids are "gods" but without all the powers associated with actual gods™?
There are/were other gods. Marika is just the one in charge because of the Elden Ring.
Those aren't the jellyfish I remember.
Artistic license
Same energy
>Frenzied flame
I still insist that the three fingers and the two fingers were two halves of the original Greater Will, which is probably itself yet another Outer God.
It's called the One Great speadreader.
>Literally mentioned once
>Implied that the Greater Will destroyed it
Sorry, I don't keep up with that one youtuber's 300 hour lore videos, you autistic spaz
Outer God just means "Outside the Golden Order" ie Not Marika. It's not a lovecraft thing. It's just the concepts Marika rejected when she formed her new Order trying to worm themselves back in after she shattered the Elden Ring.
This anon is right. It's just any God who isn't Marika/Greater Will
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.
They're not as complicated as people assume them to be.
so many best girls
Roderika is the best of all best girls. This is known.
Precious cinnamon bun
As Elden Lord, I declare it illegal to harm spirit jellyfish, to be punished by death. So shall it be.
I don't know what sort of degenerate would kill them anyways
Quite a lark, when you think about it
Why is Malenia evil?
Looking through it, I know their name is "Godskin" but none of their items descriptions ever actually say the skin they stitch together is made from slain Deities, indeed the Festival going on at Windmill Village seems to be regular people getting flayed alive for the Godskin Apostle there.
They ran out of gods to skin, so resorted to people. Who knows for how long.
Could also be them.
demigods and gods aren't the same thing
Demigods have godly DNA in them and the human portions of their blood are either exceptionally strong individuals like Rennala/Godfrey that may as well have been gods in their own right. Malenia and Miquella are considered demigods despite having technically pure "God" DNA.
Demigodskin Apostle just doesn't roll off the tongue as much.

cope, seethe, ultimately have a nice day. you lost, and the gaming world at large WON
Elden Ring is the most boring soulsbornekiroring game. I still haven't bothered to do a second playthrough because I hate the big empty open world.
I'll enjoy it too, because I enjoy exploring and don't need Vbucks waved in my face every 5 steps with another daily quest zoomer.
>If you don't like soulslop and copy pasted dungeons it means you play Fortnite
Kill all soulsperms
>everything I don't like is slop and copypasted!
Well in the case of Elden bing it is.
AC customization is just as simple as it has always been moron. Old gen was honestly even more simple since fricking bipeds and RJs didn't use cannons.
yawn
Every AC except 4 was shit until 6 came along. Go be a contrarian hipster somewhere else
Sakura!
>I hate freedom
>I NEED game devs to tell me what's interesting and what I should explore!
😐
>I hate fun
>I NEED a big empty fricking field with the occasional enemies and arteria leaves in between to actual content to waste my time!
:I
this
i'll replay the whole game when the dlc releases and that's already like 60+ hours, i'd rather a more narrow but good content area than some more giant map shit
It's probably going to be an island and have the same amount of content as one of the main game areas.
But yeah, it is really weird that it's taking this long.
Apparently they wanted to do two separate DLCs first, but now put them into one.
I wouldn't settle for that. At the very least I'd want something on the level of DS2 DLCs. Three legacy dungeons + some open world stuff to connect them instead of three separate teleports seems reasonable enough.
Frick you, I want huge additions to the map filled with caves and shit to explore.
Just mod skyrim til it resembles Soul
Ngl, probably my least favorite dlc they've made. Artorias, Manus, the dragon, the town, and the abyss are all quite bland. I respect it for it's time, but it doesn't hold up well imo
>m-mu.. m.. MUH CORRIDURRS!
Why are you so obssesed with corridors
Haligtree is a legacy dungeon, moron
i heard its coming out feb 2024
going to win goty
They're working hard to make the Sellen dating segment as intricate and perfect as possible.
If there is no foot rubbing I’m not paying.
thanks for taking out rennala, Mr. Bond. I owe you one.
This and to perfect the veins and physics on blaidds big fat uncut wiener.
Cope. Everyone was saying the same shit for years after the initia ER teaser trailer.
Its been 2 years because they are making a good game.
IT'S A FRICKING DLC NOT A SEQUEL
We used to call those expansion packs.
They used to call them expansion packs zoomer, and to make a good one, it takes years.
Also I think your caps lock key is broken.
>and to make a good one, it takes years.
Only if on the level of Blood and Wine, or even HOS, but I bet even the one with the new map didn't take 2+ years
To put in perspective, Skyrim released almost in 2012, had DLC, and FO4 released in 2015. FO3 to Skyrim was like 3 years
tbf the Skyrim DLC were fricking atrocious
gay post
FromSoft is a workhorse, especially with their habit of reusing assets thing which I think is a plus when it comes to these things so they can do it. However, the question is, whether or not they could, but if they should do it.
>we might be getting it's New Vegas equivalent...one can hope
That's a nice cope. Give me some of that
Majoras mask, 2 years 6 months. Sekiro, 3 years 4 months.
2 years is a weird time, I hope they just go full sequel like Majoras mask.
It will still be longer than most games you can buy for $70
insider here.
It’s a full priced sequel, it’s not a DLC
Zoomie is used to DLCs being preplanned to release 6 months after launch (content cut from the base game)
FROM DLCs may as well be 1.5 versions of the game. Excluding DS3 since the suits made them split that one up.
The Ringed City is still the biggest Souls DLC but ashes was a disappointment
DS3 is garbage
I will give you even more controversial take, gameplay aside, lore and stule-wise both DS1 and DS3 are depressing.
Ringed city didn't really expand the game like artorias or old hunters did. People still get autistic fixations with artorias, when he was just a throw away item description name in the base game. The crow goddess has more content than him in the base game, thats how much heavy lifting the abyss DLC did for him.
And fromsoft dlc almost everytime turn out to better than base game
Yet another argument for more compact game design.
heh like FEAR: Perseus mandate, it’s technically an “expansion” of the first FEAR but it contains the whole game engine and you can play it standalone.
The only other game capable of doing something like this is Sonic & Knuckles with S3 or S2.
But last time they produced Elden Ring instead?
My sense of time is fricked. I swear Elden Ring released a few months ago.
>My sense of time is fricked
it's the vaxx
I'm unvaxxed, but apparently I'm brain damaged from my car having an exhaust leak.
2 more weeks, everyone but the poltard cult will be dead!
Not 2 weeks, 2 years. Enjoy your waning days in the sun.

No, Black person it was 2 years ago. You know how I know this?
>training pharmacy tech students at my hospital in that same March after release
>one of them is a super qt. 3.14 who used to work to work at a shipping dock
>her husband is a streamer who was playing Elden Ring
>mfw this chick is casually talking about a Souls game
It was then that I fully appreciated the scale of just how popular the game was.
Did you frick her?
>her husband is a streamer who was playing Elden Ring
That sentence just seems so wrong to my old ass.
yeah making that robot game.
Shadow is either big as frick, or they are doing a massive overhaul alongside it to update the game upon release.
>makes dlc
>win another GOTY
He can't keep getting away with it!
Hope they're overhauling the inner workings of the game's codes like accommodating the expansion to the multiplayer component (official seamless co-op, more player limit) and stuff like widescreen support and bumping the fps limit.
SotFS 2, screencap this
The greatest of kino
It fricking better be, base game needs a lot of work
It better be. It's been 2 years, now they have ample time to work on something similar and the new content at the same time.
I thought about what they could do for a SOTFS update of the game to refine it and I came up with a large list. Not sure how many are viable but most seem like okay changes.
https://pastebin.com/g0xDmt4e
Not going to read that so I'll just assume you're based
>https://pastebin.com/g0xDmt4e
Not sure how much I agree with Evergaols being removed and being turned into fast travel points but I also don't know what else to turn them into
The two big reasons are
1. They didn't plan a DLC ahead of time. All their previous DLCs were planned before release (Dark Souls 2 and 3 both had season passes).
2. The scale is way bigger because it's open world. Likely they're making an entire new region with multiple legacy dungeons and a bunch of side content.
>uses beguiling branch on you
>Is you
>does nothing because I already love him
Remember not to fall for his cute looks. He's a top with a massive dick. A fight to the death is all that awaits
I can't wait for him to turn into some grotesque monster you have to kill.
I feel like he won't be a boss
it worked
He's an Empyrean so we can definitely marry him. Move aside Mohg, the bussy is mine.
you homosexuals will be very disappointed when Miquella is a girl in the DLC, because of Empyrean shit
reminder that the original concept for him was to appear as St.Trina, aka female alter ego
jokes on you I'm a bisexual homosexual so I win either way
>qt has a bonus hole
>somehow that's a bad thing
Isn't a miquella a child?
It will literally revolutionize gaming and I'm not even joking, the industry will kneel once more to Japan.
Any proofs?
Fromsoft dlc is always the peak content of each game. I can't wait for the dlc to hit and the new "best souls boss" to drop.
If they had any sense of integrity they would fully restore all the cut quests and content
yaboi miyagodzi hasnt rendered all the bare feet yeet
Uuh bros, why is he so different that the other japanese devs?
>Dresses according to his age
>He's not tweeting stupid fricking cringe bullshit everyday (does he even uses social media?)
>He's not paying celebs to hang out with him
>He climbed the ladder until he became the president of a company he basically catapulted to absolute success, yet he is still passionate about game design.
Why is he so different?
He's an autist who just reads books. He's a simple guy.
Armored core is what went wrong.
They already did self-publish with Sekiro, in Japan.
Oh no how dare devs actually take the needed time to make something oh no noooo
gotta get miquellas cute lil toesies just right. please understand.
At first I was like: I can't wait
Now I'm like:
>try to replay elden ring
>stop playing almost instantly
I have zero excitement for more content. The game is just boring slow trash.
I'm the opposite. I really want to do another playthrough and am just holding back waiting for the dlc. Did 3 of them already.
I did another playthrough and just didn't move on to NG+ after elden beast so I would have a leveled enough character for SotE, why not do that if you're itching to play?
I did that. I just don't wanna burn myself. It's not like there ain't other stuff to play, i'm also itching to reinstall MH:W since the announcement on VGA.
i know that feel, just cant bring myself to replay it after doing a 150 hour first playthrough on launch
Liurnia used to be so beautiful in my playthrough, but I hate it nowadays.
I am currently forcing myself to go through it right now.
Christ, you sound like one of the people who actually was fooled by the use of speed lines in Gotham Knights.
>whats_wrong_with_your_face.jpg
_wrong_with_your_face.jpg
just a bit of dirt, or blood on the forehead
Anon, i don't wanna speedrun the game. I'm not annoyed by stopping my character and looking around and assess where i want to go next.
ER is carried hard by the community aspect and the whole conversation around it when it was released
Favorite weapon?
None.
>how to say you're too simpleminded for the build mechanics without saying it

Dual Godskin Peelers with Freezing mist on main. I switch between dual and 1 throughout duels.
Bloody Helice is the best weapon From has made. Built in dodge right into an attack feels fricking amazing. Every time I try something different I regret not going Helice
Distant second would be Black Knife for lore reasons and the anime attack
insane design
>spent four hours grinding for this thing
>the moveset sucks ass
it's a normal moveset, add some cool looking ash of wa that moves a lot for flavor
Don't get me wrong, I like having it as a DS3 style paired weapon, but it would've been nice if having just one of the swords was an option.

Its of course the Knight’s Greatsword. Heavy infused. Simple as. Sill looking for a good ash if war.

Bolt of Gransax
Gundam Seed is finally getting the movie that was promised for 20 years and Nomura is still making Versus XIII. Anything is possible with Japan
>Nomura is still making Versus XIII
wait what
i thought that became XV (i haven't played it)
Versus became XV, but a different director was placed in charge at that point, so it wasn't really Nomura's game any more.
Now for whatever reason, Nomura created a new Kingdom Hearts character that looks like the main character from Versus/XV and recreated shots from the original trailer with him, so it seems like he's trying to make a KH spinoff that is basically just his original vision for Versus.
>Tfw 20+ years later and there's still no Chrono Break or MML3

I'd rather wait a while for something incredible than get slop in a year. You strike me as the type of person who preorder Fallout 76 and Cyberpunk like a buffoon.

Do you agree with this question; Placidusax is a better fight than Malenia.
Malenia is the worst fight in the game so obviously he's better
Malenia is a meme boss fight that reply on Waterfowl to make her special.
Placidusax has the cinematic edge over her at least.
Malenia is an awful fight
Difficulty doesn't mean good
Placidusax > Mohg > Malenia > Maliketh
I feel bad killing Placidusax because hes:
>missing most of his heads
>has decaying wings
>is napping at the end of time
Malenia is still decently fun even though WFD is bullshit and healing on block is just cheap.
Who?
He probably means the Caelid dragon that spews rot
Yeah, he's tougher than the rest
The Rot Dragon, I found him unreal difficult. Died 60 times up to level 120.
Which one though? The down south along the road to Castle Redmane or the rotting dragon near Fort Faroth?
This guy? was it because of the Rot Lake?
No the flying Dragon on the road to Castle Redman.
First time fighting that was a joke as my tank tear just killed 90% for me.
Did a summonless run, it was a lot harder but still only died 10 times, unlike the flying dragon with the one shot super breath it does over and over.
I can’t believe you guys didn’t have the same issue.
Placidusax was Kino
It made her feel like a Raid Boss in an MMO.
my only gripe with Malenia is that her Waterfowl has 3 charges
>Frick up the timing of a roll
>You get input read and instant kill
>You summon someone
>They just die to a waterfowl and she gets 1/5th of her healthbar back
>You get input read
lol no, i've beaten the game almost 20 times now and malenia is far from as bad as pacidutrash
placi phase two in a nutshell:
>flies away into dive attack
>dodge
>have to run to him
>before you get to him he teleports behind you
>dodge into a single r21 because that's all you get assuming your weapon is fast enough
>teleports again behind you, repeat 3 times
>ok now he stopped better go in to attack
>wow cool fire breath that covers 100% of his body, got to wait now
>cool he stopped, go in for an attack
>he flies away for another dive attack
>rinse and repeat
shit boss, stalls harder than elden shit. people are only b***hing about malenia because they get fricked up by waterfowl and annoying hyperarmor and extension in phase 2 see
but at least you get a couple fricking hits in unlike that shit dragon
looks polish
Obviously, he's also the best souls dragon fight.
There are a lot of bossfights that are better than Malenia.
Ideally they are doing a Scholar of the First Sin thing where they are adding in a ton of the cut content
It's going to be at least half the size of the base game. It will be the greatest dlc ever released
It's going to be a recolored dream sequence 1:1 copy of Altus Pleateau featuring a whopping 3 new bosses and 4 new somber weapons.

Good to know you homosexuals can read.
Mogh is optional
You can casually run through Leyndell
Only needs to fight Apostles once (in Farum Azula)
holy moron
The weirdest thing is theres no Frenzied Flame dragon.
there's barely any frenzy flame shit at all in the game despite playing the most important role in the story. there's like 5 spells and 2 frenzy villages

pvp gays who look up where to get their pvp items for their youtube created pvp builds can keep seething all they want. elden ring exploration was great if you actually discovered things naturally instead of using youtube or the wiki for everything. You ruined the greatest game of the decade for yourself for a sub-par mini game. good job idiots
This perfectly describes my compliant with owlcat. I feel like the games meant to played with a build guide and not for people like us.
Nobody I hate on this board more than the fricks who save scummed, build guideded, and respected constantly in BG3, than b***hed how the game was too easy.
>elden ring exploration was great
For the first playthrough.
Playing any game with a guide is soulless but Fromsoft games are definitely those ones where blind first playthroughs hit different
I agree except a side quest and ending guide is always mandatory.
Not at all. I finished most sidequests and completed Ranni's quest completely blind on my first playthrough.
I wasted 2 hours on this embarrassingly, still had to look it up after.
Pretty sure you get a message saying a mark has been made on your map and its a noticeable red flag
That was added in a patch later. They realized it was bullshit guesswork.
I'm sure they patched it in because it was all very intuitive.
No, it turns out a lot of people are stupid like you. They also added markers for NPC locations that are easy to remember and nerfed bosses that weren't difficult.
I guess we can't all be smart heh. Thanks Miyazaki.
>I’m sorry buddy, there’s no way you did.
I did. It's not hard, I just explored. Ranni's is so fricking easy to complete that she was the most common ending on release.
>How many side quests do you think are in the game?
The only ones I didn't finish were the sorcery teacher lady, I forget her name, Yuria's, and Goldmask's.
Would you have guessed 36 side quests, and that you did 33.
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Side+Quests
I didn't really keep count. But yeah, sure. Looking at that list I did all of it except what I said and what got patched in later. You don't need a guide for anything, you just have to listen and pay attention.
You are so delusional it’s unreal. 36 quests, 7 steps each, think you did 90% of it buy “listen and pay attention”.
There is no fricking way.
I'm sorry you're bad at video games, but yeah. I took my time, I explored, and I was invested enough in the game to listen to what characters were saying.
I’m not even mad, more envious.
You did not do Millicent's questline on your first playthrough without a guide
>but-
Don't care, you're full of shit
I did. It wasn't complicated.
I'm not delusional because I can play a video game without a guide. You just seem like you're fricking stupid.
>Everyone knows the side quests were a joke
I know normalgay bandwagoning morons complained about them, yeah.
>Classic Vagabond for first playthrough

>Meet Ranni without ever speaking to Rogier start doing her questline
>Get Dark Moon Greatsword
>Respec into Int/Strength
>Finally go back and clear out Stormveil.
Would have been cute if the game had the Breath of the Wild thing where it let you see the path you took over the course of your journey. I'd love to see how moronic my journey was.
>elden ring exploration was great if you actually discovered things naturally
I did and it was shit.

>useless crafting material you already have a hundred of
or my favourite of exploring and finding tucked away caves and mines and catacombs is being rewarded with a repeat of an enemy you already fought a dozen times but this time it has a boss health bar.
Yeah there's nothing to do but fight enemies and bosses in this game where you do nothing but fight enemies and bosses
they are going to pull a tears of the kingdom
At least they're selling it as DLC.
TOGEDAAAAA
God I love the voice acting
Do you need to beat Malenia to finish the game? i pirated the game last year and i got all the way to her and Mohg, but i just couldn't go past her and the Godskin duo, maybe once the DLC is out i'll buy the game
No. She's completely optional and so is her whole area. The Godskin are needed though. Just use summons if you end up buying it.
>Do you need to beat Malenia to finish the game?
No but her katana is fricking fantastic if you are doing a dex character.
>Couldn't go past godskin duo
There's a npc you can summon
>but i just couldn't go past her and the Godskin duo
Take the skinny boy down and don't let fatty get to his second phase while skinny boy is still up or he'll start rolling around
If these homosexual morons hadn't been such goddamn Black folk, the erdtree would not have sent a punishment like me upon them
It’s a full sequel coming out in Feb 2025
They aren't going to go head-to-head with GTV 6
Marketing suicide
>frick up dodge
>die
love mountain tops
You got countered b***h
i know, i was already locked in the jump attack animation
>frick up dodge
skill isue
I think fromsoft is actually having issues when it comes to performance so they're taking the time to optimize the dlc
Considering AC6 came out with much better optimization, from the 120fps limit to ultrawide support to photo mode, it's embarrassing to see considering that the game came out only a year after ER which had atrocious performance at launch. It's like night and day.
Just need more Melina
giwtwm
>no ng+ Melina invasions if you get the frenzied flame ending
Imagine you get constant messages saying she invades you, but shes invisible like the Black Knives in Ordina so she randomly just comes behind and one-shots you
No thank. It just be another Majima shit.
>frenzied flame ending
>you become black hole man and consume everything turning into a big black hole
Where have I seen that before
Not having her character be more developed was a pretty big blunder for the game's story.
>Drop Goldmask and PooPoo Nibbler
Or at least give them proper ending cinematics. Really theres only like 3 unique endings
I hope in the DLC you get a unique ending if you get all runes like in DS2 if you get all Crowns
You act like them adding those endings was mutually exclusive. Some janky NPC quests plus a recolored ending took no dev time. If there was no Dung Eater, there still wouldn't be a Mohg ending
No, my point is that should have dropped those two NPCs and their quests and "endings" entirely. Out of the mending Rune quests only Fia is really interesting and even there her conclusion doesn't feel like it should be producing a Mending Rune anyway.
they're remaking the entire game to remove the open world elements and everything tainted by them.
also why can't I move the reply box around anymore
>also why can't I move the reply box around anymore
Works for me. You're being punished for your awful post
If it releases anywhere in Q1 or Q2, I'm probably going to skip it until summer and play Dragon's Dogma 2 first.
Q1 releases are fricking stacked, I think the DLC should come out somewhere in April or May or like you said, summer release.
breed Marika
I was super burned out by the time I finished the base game, I'm glad they've taken so long because now I'm actually ready to play through the game again tbh
>reinstall for another playthrough
>beat Godrick
>stop playing
I aint got the time for this
I played for two weeks straight at launch and knew I wasn't going to touch it until the DLC.
Just don't worry about them skimping on the size.
my HERO
they're making a whole extra zone that probably has its own underground or sky level layered in too, I expect a bunch of reused bosses and assets and people yelling "TWO/THREE YEARS" when it actually comes out
I can't wait to fight another ulcerated tree spirit!
>not Miquella's Dream Tree Spirit which is the exact same except it inflicts sleep
>also Frenzied Tree Spirits that are also also the same except madness and they threw four of them in one arena
or you can just avoid them. Can't believe people actually put in that level of effort.
I didn't fight them throughout my entire first playthrough.
The only people From are hurting are themselves, the longer it takes the come out the higher people's expectations will be. Although, people loved Ashes of Ariandel even though it's objectively the worst DLC they ever made so I've been wrong before.
>The only people From are hurting are themselves, the longer it takes the come out the higher people's expectations will be.
You will marry the first girl you touch
I hope they continue the trend of optional b***h that's several times harder than the final story boss.
You have to beat the whole game because Marika is an interactible NPC. This also renders the Frenzied Flame and Ranni endings noncanon.
lol what
Both of those versions you're still open to do more. Besides the Expansion will be in a dreamscape St. Trina realm anyway so you can have anyone in there.
more waifu pls
By the way, The Greater Will is literally just the Sun.
People falsely equate this with distance as opposed to it simply not really caring at that moment
>There's other trees and Elden Beasts in the universe.
>Falling Star Beasts
naturalborn of the void, etc. is what I meant, though they're the same thing
Yeah but the Elden Ring came with the Elden Beast when it fell from the sky, they are one and the same
The Beast predates the Erdtree
It's stated the prehistoric age BEFORE the Erdtree was ruled by Placidusax and his unnamed Dragon God, there was just the crucible.
>It's stated the prehistoric age BEFORE the Erdtree was ruled by Placidusax and his unnamed Dragon God, there was just the crucible.
He is literally called the Elden Lord, meaning the Elden Ring was present meaning the Elden Beast was present
>The Dragonlord whose seat lies at the heart of the storm beyond time is said to have been Elden Lord in the age before the Erdtree.
He wouldn't be called Elden Lord if the Elden Ring/Elden Beast didn't exist
>PLACIDUSAX WAS ELDEN LORD before THE ELDEN TREE and ELDEN RING
Doesn't say that anywhere though does it? Also he shares the same God-Lord dichotomy as Marika and Godfrey
>Doesn't say that anywhere though does it?
It says it, in the game, in his LITERAL character description.
His description is his Remembrance which says
>The Dragonlord whose seat lies at the heart of the storm beyond time is said to have been Elden Lord in the age before the Erdtree.
Nothing about the Ring just the Tree
Yes, and do you know what the game says about when the Age of the Erdtree began?
When a golden star carrying the Elden Beast / Elden Ring, came down to Earth and created the Golden Tree (Erdtree) that defines the Age of the Erdtree. This was followed by zealotry against Dragons, Giants, Omens, Gods, and other organisms outside of the designs of the Golden Order.
>It's explicitly stated that the Elden Ring locked Radagon and Marika in the Tree as punishment for blasphemy
Or possibly the Greater Will, either way, it wasn't Radagon who locked the tree up.
Marika is
Yeah I misremembered. Placidusax was the Godfrey of his time; an item says he was awaiting his god
However, he still doesn't predate the Beast because the Beast and Ring are one and the same
the Elden Lord doesn't brandish the ring moron
only an Empyrean can
I saw a theory saying the Greater Will is like a "council" of all the various gods
I just want a story structure like AC6 but with Miquella
What? him stuck in your head, whispering stuff at you?
Everyone who posts their char is always playing as a woman. Where the Gankerros at?
I am here, discussing deep lore instead of posting a virtual barbie doll. These gays are starting to give me a negative view on character customization in games.
Being on topic is a much better use of our time, true.
Ok but WHY do all the big ant queens have Numen Souls? Did they eat the Numen? did the Numen BECOME the ants?
kill rat, drops humanity
Their nests are full of dead bodies. It can make sense that the queens were given the primo Numen corpses for themselves.
They live in close proximity to the Nox, who might be of Numen ancestry (the black knives were Numen, and are connected to the eternal cities, so it's not too much of a stretch).
New vegas the dlc the game
What does that even mean, bro?
Nta but right now the DLC has the same dev time as Fallout New Vegas' entire development. Only that New Vegas had the existing Van Buren design document to steal from and FS had to build this from scratch in comparison so I'm not sure if it compares.
You get actual branching RPG quests in the game with lots of dialogue.
Dominula becomes a faction, and you can feed them unwitting NPCs. If you send them Dung Eater, they will contract every disease in the book and die.
They're waiting for George RR Martin to turn in their two paragraphs of lore for the DLC
and what have u done in 2 years?
beat the rest of the soul series + Sekiro.
>missed the Malenia nendo
its fricking over
>did one playthrough
>got 100%
>never did pvp
simple ass
i want to replay elden ring so bad but i don't want to be reminded of my friend who i played it with, who no longer speaks to me. its over.
the only boss i summoned a real player for was the godskin duo fight
that fight needs to be removed from the game
Godskin Duo would be fine if they shoved it away somewhere in a Hero's grave like they did with the Crucible knight Duo.
Faram Azula really should have a second unique boss, same with Leyndell 1st visit.
>dlc is an expansion
will it affect the base game?
They're trying to copy and paste enough content from the last game to consider it a new game to win GOTY again... so they have to wait for the new year
This DLC will have more new content than all of TOTK, cope.
It will be exactly like TOTK: the same old game plus a few extra things but a new game to suck more money
Nah, at best if you might get some returning areas but they will be distorted and twisted like previous DLCs do. Even then that will be like the first area, then all the later areas will be brand new.
god damn bloodborne still looks good
>The design you see in the game is only a fraction of the total ring
KINO
What's the deal with the moon and the big ass rune on its surface?
Marika asserting dominance
>It's been almost 2 years, something must be going wrong.
Before the invasion of Liurnia Radagon essentially did not exist according to Muriel or Goldmask.
they're working on another souls title as well.
For me, it's Extraction Ring: Shadow of Tarkov.
The doctor's mystified
Nothing's physically wrooooong
Just melted one of THOSE sweatlord invaders that uses bleed claws + endure + half of lionel's set + stormcaller on tight spaces
ask me anything
Me on the right waiting for the expansion
Calling it now: this DLC will force Geoff to create a category for "Best DLC of the Year" in the TGA. We'll witness history.
No it will just flat out win GotY
It has zero competition next year
I unironically thought the very same a few hours ago lol
There's already best-supported game category or something like that. It would be nice if there was a best expansion category though, the industry seems to gearing up for expansion models these days.
>only decent game I played in 2022 was ER
>only decent game I played in 2023 were ER but switching up builds and areas to tackle
>only decent game I played in 2024 is SOTE which will have a new land and drastically alter the world
I dunno if this speaks more about the gaming world now or Fromsoftware itself.
Who knows, like you said I hope it's not separate from the base game like their usual stuff.
>want to replay elden ring
>remember needing to go to each corner of the map to get golden seeds and sacred tears
>remember godskin duo
>remember the entirety of the snowy mountain area after the capital
ugh
needing to go to each corner of the map to get golden seeds and sacred tears
real complaint
godskin duo
meme fight, they're easy as frick
the entirety of the snowy mountain area after the capital
overhated
Most Golden Seeds are pretty easy to find. You can reach max pretty easily and thr little trees are obvious to see
Sacred Tears are even easier just visit every church which are clear to see on the map
>final push gauntlet part of the game is a gauntlet
If it is not on the Nintendo Switch it is not a video game. Wrong board
>xe doesn't know about ER: Golden Edition for the Switch 2
You know what, I can see them putting the game and the DLC as a bundle for Switch 2 third-party launch titles. Not exactly the first time they ported their Souls game.
Until the moment its playable on a Nintendo device its a troony movie.
I really thought this shit was ironic but there's just too much of it. This place is fricking psychotic.
snoy moive gaem
They clearly turned the DLC into a sequel.
>no Bloodborne sequel, take this DLC and frick off
>no Sekiro sequel, no DLC, no fricking nothing
>we are over soulslike for a while, here have some Armored Core, we're also working on other stuff
>ELDEN RING 2: RELOADED REVENGENCE REBIRTH
Please, no
Sekiro and Armored Core VI were garbage. Fromsoftware should just acceot that they indeed are the Souls-like studio and stop wasting time with these shitty meme games
The greater will is literally (probably just metaphorically actually but maybe literally) just the collective unconscious
It's in the fricking name
>it's just like Berserk/Demon's Souls
BRAVO MITSUBISHI
Buts it’s foreign and alien in origin. You could argue the abyss was like that in DS1 but the greater will is clearly not native to the lands between. It’s an establishment of something anathema to humans treating them as something to be recycled because they carry shards/runes of its power.
>It’s an establishment of something anathema to humans treating them as something to be recycled because they carry shards/runes of its power
Sounds like *puts on joker mask* society *drops mic*
Standard Fromsoft development process
Big announcement
1-3 years of total radio silence
'Oh by the way it's coming out in like 3 weeks'
This is sad
they mostly have seething tantrums about shit that they won't get
wyd when i pull up with this
I simply roll through it 🙂
well shit, i've been bamboozled
They really should make it so you can add armor to Torrent or boost his health with runes.
>but Horse Armor and Bethesda!
Just make it something you can obtain. Tree Sentinel skin, Badlands Armor and thats it.
The idea of customizing Torrent is such a no-brainer, I dunno why From didn't do it.
why did they add non-alterable sets that are still separate drops called altered/unaltered with single-digit percent drop rates?
why does the alteration mechanic barely do anything except 'cape/no cape' when there are armor sets in-game that literally change their look depending on what other pieces you have equipped?
why can't you change armor (metal) colors?
simple answer, they just didn't think about it or didn't think it was worth the time to put in, maybe that'll change in the future considering how much they've already changed for the sake of customization in the base game alone though
Content density. In version 1.00 of the game you could switch between whatever version of the clothing you wanted. For example the bandit set could be transformed into the Raptors feathers (sans aerial attack bonus).
Christ that sounds better, why not just make THAT the end reward of Boc's quest? At least then you have to explore like they want you to and do a lot of running around if they didn't want it available from the start
>torrent
Frick that I want to ride one of the giant ants like the nox ladies
That shits hilarious because how did these weird artificial people become beast masters. How the hell do you endear ants to you? It’s not like the night maidens mist is a pheromone or some shit. That being said they’re great.
>How the hell do you endear ants to you?
They literally didn't. They use magic to shackle the ants to their will. That's why if you knock the rider off the ant, the Ant will actually attack the Noxian first.
That’s awesome. I never noticed that because I typically crited them after they fell off their mount.
All I want from the DLC is more interactions and endings with some of the cool NPCs.
I want to spare Morgott and help him restore the Lands Between instead of being forced to kill him.
A Melania ending would also be awesome if we could cure her and make her our consort.
At the very least I'd like to be able to talk to her and learn more about her.
>no actual "Team up with Rykard" ending where you create the Mending Rune of the Blasphemous and devour the concept of gods
>no Mohg ending where you reign in the Moghwyn Dynasty with a consort of your choice
>no Malenia ending where you go full rotgay and turn everywhere into Caelid
>no Miquella ending where you defeat Mohg, properly ascend Miquella to his uncursed Empyrean state, and have him take you as consort for immortal bussy
that last one might actually end up happening though
>no actual "Team up with Rykard" ending where you create the Mending Rune of the Blasphemous and devour the concept of gods
Maybe if they add covenants they'll be nice enough to have this as well.
He eats your ass and you become family, that's the ending. No team ups or mending runes.
>Family ass eating
Hot
The Serpent is just another God
The NPCs having different outcomes other than being dead in their quest's endings would be nice, yeah. It might be a novel concept in 2011 but not anymore, especially with the game that concerns itself with ambitions as its main theme and how less apocalyptic the setting is this time.
In any Order ending that doesn't forsake the Erdtree, even in the Duskborn and Omen Curse ending, all characters includjng NPCs are resurrected in either life or death, so Elden Ring has easily the happiest ending for all NPCs potentially
They're still waiting for GRRM to finish writing the plot. Might have to wait a few more years.
The final boss will be Miquella's Shadow and it will trump the fight with Gael/Orphan from the previous DLCs.
Who is the best boss and why is it Mohg?
TRES
>Character is in NG+3
Should I just start a new character for the DLC?
might as well, I been holding my main character on NG specifically waiting for the DLC to drop
I just dread about the whole finding the flask tears again.
SotE has taken so long that I'm no longer impatient, though ideally it'll come out in February so I don't go mad waiting for Dragon's Dogma 2.
Elden Ring attacks have such god tied hitboxes
I don't care what any of you in this thread have yet said, the only important thing we can all unanimously acknowledge is that rennala is best girl and sex with rennala. rannigays need not apply that is all.
She is but shes too mindbroken. You spend your whole life becoming powerful enough to match the other half of a god, start a family of exceptional people with a strong marriage and he just ditches you. Then you get locked in the tower by your own mages.
they delayed it because of totk
