yeah leon feels so cringey in the original. i don't know how anyone took him seriously. all his lines take away from the horror element of the game. if he stopped with the quips every goddamn second like a marvel character maybe the game could be more scary

the original lacks any sense of horror, it's barely an RE game. The remake has good gameplay and horror.

It's just sad cope by literal betas who think that anyone would like the cuck nu-Leon. Games are meant to be FUN, and only Commiefornian zoombies try to claim otherwise.

Games of the early and mid 00s used to be like that. They were supposed to be fun and not taken seriously. It wasn't until the Dudebro takeover ushered in the era of brown and bloom and e-sports that video games had to be super serial.

                Anonymous

Nah the dudebro games came from the early-mid 00s era of games being edgy, having guns, and taking themselves seriously. Games series like Resident Evil and Legend of Zelda were the outlier of the time.

Nah homie, sure Dudebro started to pick up steam with Halo and CoD before completely taking over with the success of Gears and MW1/2, but the majority of the games back then never took themselves too seriously. Sands of Time, Spyro, Jax, Ratchet and Clank, GTA SA, Simpsons Hit and Run, Def Jam, Veautiful Joe, Burnout, Sims, Tony Hawk, Katamari Damacy I could do this all day. Great and interesting gameplay and fun absolutely used to be the focus then. It wasn't just games, it was just the culture. Ours computers were see through blue plastic for fricks sake.

you have to be moronic to disagree.

It's inferior in every conceivable manner.
Namely, it ruins the fun gameplay, and the fun characters.

      >muh intuitive controls
you mean generic post-7th gen Snoy 3rd person action game w/ stealth elements mold controls, with tons of input lag and terrible gunplay?

Yes: it's an all around superior, more fun video game, way cheaper, available on all systems, and it makes Twatter feminazis seethe.

I disagree, but it is a very good remake.

OG is longer and has more areas/bosses, different weapons balance, completely different tone and is more cheesy tongue in cheek, I actually prefer the movement system in OG as it adds much more to the horror, and most importantly LASER ON EVERY GUN WHY DID THEY TAKE THAT FROM ME

I haven't finished my playthrough. It's good and fun, but I feel like resource management is a lot tighter than the original. I basically can only use my pistol right now. I played the original again about 2 years ago in preparation for this game and I don't remember ever feeling like I was forced to use my pistol so much.

I stopped playing because I hit the ashley portion and I hate when they do that

It's the compromise of giving you full range of movement, otherwise the game would be a piss easy third person shooter and not a survival horror shooter. They had to do it, because there's no way zoomies of today could handle the intentionally gimped movement of OG.

They correct this in RE4VR, and even let you dual wield. If only it wasn't censored to Hell and they didn't cut 1/3rd of the ending and the Staff Roll.

It's the definitive Resident Evil 4. Hence the original was changed to Resident Evil 2005

I still think there's more fun game-iness that RE4 OG had, particularly the melee combat.

Haven't played RE4Remake but I still prefer RE2 to it's remake despite the remake being a great game on it's own. You're not a doomposter for prefering one game that plays very differently to another.

The original is better, the core gameplay loop is more fun along with the guns feeling way better. The cheesy writing is fricking great, it knows exactly what its trying to be, a B 80's action flick. They ruined ashley in the new one and Ada sounds like a chain smoker.

Ada's VA is fricking atrocious. Capcom had a public falling out with the voice actors union and this is what we get in return lmao.

sometimes she sounded ok like when she was speaking softer and in a sultry voice. whenever she had to speak up though she sounded awful. and too nonchalant when things were happening eg not being out of breath in situations where she should've been. the voice directing for her was abysmal too

          Anonymous

The problem is she's not a voice actor. She's a complete non-union lowrate hack who is incapable of inflecting any emotion in her voice. She quite literally is just reading a script, but you get what you pay for, and because Crapcom refused to shell out for actual talent I'm never going to buy Separate Ways.

Hell, one of the top mods for the game is an AI voice acting replacement for Ada, and the fricking robot has more emotion than her it's wild.
