To anyone complaining about THPS online only: does it work over Goldberg Steam Emulator? Asking because it's very good at faking a Steam connection and certain games (like Bamco's older games) are fooled enough to work offline using it. Considering the MP is permanently broken on all platforms, this may be an option worth trying.

Unlocking the challenges and new gear and shit is at least half of the fun in Hitman WoA. In the classic Hitman games it's not that important but in the modern trilogy it is. I hate how they decided it needs to be always online or you can't unlock anything, like for fricks sake. No one cares about the online scoreboards which are probably cheated anyway from day 1 even with these settings.

Really? It launched with the full soundtrack on ps4. Actually I think bring the noise and/or some other song was patched in the first week. But it had the full soundtrack after that
From what Ive heard modding the music is hard for this game. The songs go down in volume when you crash so the songs are coded in a way to do that. Some guy was trying to mod in his own playlist and kept getting stumped.

Yes. A few are a little lame but they grow on you.
If that's a problem then you should play it on console. You can own it on disc and it doesn't require being online for you to play it.
I think if you get the PS5 or SeX versions on disc, they have the latest patch included so in the future you could play the patched up game with a completely offline console.
at this point, you need to justify why it's even a problem. i can't remember the last time i didn't have internet for more than 5 minutes in the house. maybe if you live rural or something but vast majority of people live in cities or towns with stable infrastructure.
I can buy 15-25 year old PS1-3 consoles and games and just put the disc into the console and start playing (PS3 requires you to install the game but it does it offline). Somehow these games didn't need always online features and don't even require you to connect to internet once to play single player.
Hitman Absolution had online features go offline a few year after the games release when they got bored of keeping them online.
But can your console play the game in any framerate and resolution with any controller?.. plus games are just easier to boot when you can do it all from 1 machine.
Why no remake of 3, or 4? what i really actually want is just remakes of the THUG games. But that ain't ever going to happen with THUG 2 at least, because being associated with Bam Margera is more controversial nowadays. I had on steam thps 1 hd edition, or something similar, is it worth playing that instead of this remaster? I never touched it i don't even remember when or why i bought it.
I would suggest just skipping this and playing thug pro, or the ps1 version of these, the graphics didn't need to be improved nor did any tracks need to be added, they also removed content spiderman/bigbreastsgirl
bomb rush cyberfunk desperately needed the bail mechanic and balance meter from thps, theres zero risk and no challenge.
besides the aesthetic and music it sucked ass.
I enjoyed it as a fan of JSR/JSRF, but Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has a lacklustre trick system just like those games. I don't think you can fault it for being true to its inspirations.
I do wish someone would make a THPS inspired game which focuses on a smoother experience though. Something like a Devil May Cry style combo system (multiplier depreciates with stale tricks, combo drops if you bail, combo decays slowly over time if you aren't tricking but no need to manual everywhere, etc.) would improve the formula.
It's probably not possible to make another good Tony Hawk's game. But I'd like a return to the series in making a game like THUG 1 & 2 and American Wasteland. Going all out with the ridiculous stuff on top of the skating, that's what THUG 2 achieved anyway and it's my favorite game in the series because of it.

I played THPS 1+2 on the xbox a few years back and it got me back into skating. I wasn't very good when I stopped nearly twenty years ago, but after half a year of consistent practice, my pop shuvs are back and my ollies are a few days of practice away from returning.
I can ollie and do a kick kickflip once every 50 tries if I'm not moving :] I skated for like 10 years and broke my wrist, foot, and tooth which I'm still paying for, literally and figuratively with root canals and shit. I was never good and eventually just accepted I didn't have it and gave up.
I still have a skateboard just in case, but those days are over.

The devs (Vicarious Visions) are amazing. They also made Diablo 2 Resurrected. Both D2R and THPS1+2 were 10/10 faithful remasters, but with small QoL improvements.
Unfortunately ActiBlizz has already consumed them and turned them into "Blizzard Albany". So we very likely won't be getting THPS3+4, even though they were ready to work on them after D2R.

Play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. It has a similar art style to JSR, has a big world with some really fun areas to skate, a solid plot, and you can make all of the playable characters swap between BMX, in-line skates, and skateboards.

Direct connecting (or just third party servers at this point) solves this problem entirely and doesn't go down with the always-online-until-they're-not servers. The multiplayer feature can outlive the servers.

There's not even getup animations or ragdoll physics, half the fun was seeing how long your blood smear could get. The game was designed with edge in mind. I played it on PS4 and it wasnt always online but the servers are fricked activision have abandoned them so the online multiplayer is fricked/dead.
Unlocking the challenges and new gear and shit is at least half of the fun in Hitman WoA. In the classic Hitman games it's not that important but in the modern trilogy it is. I hate how they decided it needs to be always online or you can't unlock anything, like for fricks sake. No one cares about the online scoreboards which are probably cheated anyway from day 1 even with these settings.

From what Ive heard modding the music is hard for this game. The songs go down in volume when you crash so the songs are coded in a way to do that. Some guy was trying to mod in his own playlist and kept getting stumped.

I can buy 15-25 year old PS1-3 consoles and games and just put the disc into the console and start playing (PS3 requires you to install the game but it does it offline). Somehow these games didn't need always online features and don't even require you to connect to internet once to play single player.
Hitman Absolution had online features go offline a few year after the games release when they got bored of keeping them online.

But that ain't ever going to happen with THUG 2 at least, because being associated with Bam Margera is more controversial nowadays. You do understand that the game was set in 2020, right? All the stages were updated to being set in that year. There are even drones flying around the stages. Them being old, makes actual sense. Plus there are young skaters to offset them, aswell as the custom skater.

I enjoyed it as a fan of JSR/JSRF, but Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has a lacklustre trick system just like those games. I don't think you can fault it for being true to its inspirations.
I do wish someone would make a THPS inspired game which focuses on a smoother experience though. Something like a Devil May Cry style combo system (multiplier depreciates with stale tricks, combo drops if you bail, combo decays slowly over time if you aren't tricking but no need to manual everywhere, etc.) would improve the formula.
It's probably not possible to make another good Tony Hawk's game. But I'd like a return to the series in making a game like THUG 1 & 2 and American Wasteland. Going all out with the ridiculous stuff on top of the skating, that's what THUG 2 achieved anyway and it's my favorite game in the series because of it.

The devs (Vicarious Visions) are amazing. They also made Diablo 2 Resurrected. Both D2R and THPS1+2 were 10/10 faithful remasters, but with small QoL improvements.
Unfortunately ActiBlizz has already consumed them and turned them into "Blizzard Albany". So we very likely won't be getting THPS3+4, even though they were ready to work on them after D2R.

Play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. It has a similar art style to JSR, has a big world with some really fun areas to skate, a solid plot, and you can make all of the playable characters swap between BMX, in-line skates, and skateboards.

Direct connecting (or just third party servers at this point) solves this problem entirely and doesn't go down with the always-online-until-they're-not servers. The multiplayer feature can outlive the servers.

There's not even getup animations or ragdoll physics, half the fun was seeing how long your blood smear could get. The game was designed with edge in mind. The NEVERSOFT logo is as edgy as it gets and it's the first thing you see really sets the tone. clearly the remake is aimed at the iPad fork knife kids of today not the people who played the OG.

little red sprinkles is such a pedantic thing to care about. it has no bearing on the game at all. maybe if the original was all about brutal bails where your neck would snap or a leg gets ripped off. but it isnt. its always been tame "ooh ooh owie that hurt!" then they just stand right back up like it was a minor inconvenience. im pretty sure youre both zoomers confusing the game with skate.
also hot tip about the soundtrack. its just plays on a playlist. mute the game and put the soundtrack on youtube in the background. same experience, except now theyre uncensored. you can even easily add new tracks to it without modding your game. truly amazing times we live in.

It is very simple, if you played the OG you know it was edgy for edgy sake. The remake is not edgy for marketing sake, therefore the remake (and all other demakes) is bad and it does not appeal to me and i will not buy it.

I’m 32 and grew up with these games and skating. If the blood isn’t a big deal then why even exclude it? It was tame and light hearted but that’s what gave the original games charm. Small details like that especially when you’re remaking the most influential sport games ever created absolutely affect the big picture.
