IIRC the game made decent money, but when Kotick finally took over Blizzard after the founder left in 2018 he decided to reduce the dev team to a skeleton crew and effectively ended the development of new content. Whatever they released after that was just leftover stuff they had in the pipeline before being axed.

It's dead BECAUSE it's Blizzard and it's fun in spite of their efforts to bury it. Also if you ask people with 2000+ hours in Dota or LoL if they think their game is fun you will often hear a torrent of complaints instead of immediate "hell yeah". You know mobaBlack folk are chronic addicts so fun isn't really a marketable feature for a game like this.
because blizz shot itself in the foot (as usual) with trying to push esports and then immediately cutting support when it didn't instantly supplant LoL and DOTA. Neither of which have anything to do with the core game itself, which is good.
The game died because ActiBlizz wantwd to focus on ESports instead of just making the game fun, and arrived several years late to the MOBA scene so the ESports attemprs crashed and burned.
It's fun. Apart from when you get Russian (or BR for Americans I suppose) team-mates. Then you'll want to have a nice day and them.

Anon entire games have been won and lost because of a teamfight in the last 5 minute of the gmae.
yea hots doesn't really work that way like LoL does, if one side is snowballing everyone on that side is snowballing and everyone on your side is behind, also the maps are smaller and almost every map mechanic and objective in the game is highly in favor of the team that's snowballing. i'm not talking "oh no they got level 10 first" i'm talking 3, 4, 5+ levels behind because you had a shitter or two feed. in LoL I won games all the time with a feeder on my team because I dominated my own lane and the map is big enough that if they pull guys from somewhere else to babysit the lane I'm destroying it gives my team a lot of breathing room, but that doesn't happen in hots either since most of the maps are based on team fights around specific objectives, forcing you to interact with the entire enemy team who's already snowballed.

They're putting it on steam for sure, a lot of the bugfixes are also standardizing how mechanics interact so they could be training new people for the HotS team this way, or preparing the codebase for new people. Either way it seems like blizz at least has some interest in keeping HotS alive now, maybe because they're less beholden to activision since the acquisition.

HOTS was surprisingly fun, I think mostly because they were willing to try weird characters like chogath and abathur. I will say the whole team being the same level made it feel snowbally since even the shitters on their team could be higher level if their good players were carrying hard.

Dota is the king. One of the best games ever made, even after years of homosexual crying that too much has changed it's still the best
League of Legends is legitimately terrible. It's bad game, it had a golden age around 2014-2018 that is long, long gone. It's bad at a very fundamental level. Winning does not feel good, losing is truly miserable.
Smite is a LoL copycat that approaches decency. Every single design step it takes to distance itself from LoL is a step in the right direction. Unjustifiably hated by lolbabs, worth a play, just ignore the predatory cosmetic events.
HOTS is fricking GREAT. What a fun game. Rips away all delusions of complexity and just makes itself a fun fundamentals-focused title with very defined roles. It's so fricking good. I'd recommend it to anyone, even people that don't care much for MOBAs.
HOTS died because QP matchmaking didn't make good teams (QP was always 5 assassin v 5 assassin) and Blizzard ruined the game's financial return with esports no one wanted to watch and the ill-conceived HOTS 2.0.
I really want it to go to steam because I got permabanned for flaming people in ARAMs over the course of like 5 years and it being on steam rather than Bnet makes it far easier for me to evade that ban with a new account

Ana, Zaria and to some extent Lucio are the only non-cancer Overwatch heroes.
Ana is fricking obnoxious but playing her actually requires landing skillshots so people who play her earn their wins. Zarya is a decent, honest hero who plays by the same rules as the other characters. Lucio is obnoxious and can attack while moving but still feels generally fair. Everyone else can absolutely go frick themselves though, especially Tracer.

I think it just filtered the egotistical shitters that make up 80% of any MOBAs userbase because of shared exp and team reliance, it was a bit harder to carry solo by just being the best mechanical player in a game, but being good at teamfighting, objectives and map movement have never been more rewarded than in this game

Blizzard really fricked up with Garrosh's representation in Heroes of the Storm. His abilities and role do not fit his character fantasy in any way. His kit should have been for another character.
Yes, he is fun to play. But he should have been a bruiser, like Artanis, but with burst and less focus on defense and with an ability to force 1v1.
