For me jank mostly implies poorly responsive controls and sluggishness or badly thought-out UI choices.
So, for example, I find the Civ 4-based version of Colonization "janky" but the MS-DOS original perfectly fine to play.
>poorly responsive controls and sluggishness
How does this relate to Deus Ex? There's no input delay, mouse look is precise, movement is your standard UE1 fare meaning it's already fast and precise, and only gets crazier with the jump and speed augs.
I played every DX game except this first one because i just can't get over the shitty artstyle and bad looking enviroments. well i mostly hate NYC or whatever is that US city at the beginning right after the Statue of Liberty shit
and no i am not graphic gay, i can perfectly play old games but there is something that always keeps me from playing this i guess its the tone and the style is completely separated and isolated from rest of the franchise.
You're just a moronic manchild filtered by a realistic, urban visual design. >NOOOO THIS GAME MUST BE SCI-FI GENERIC SHIT OR FANTASY!!! IT CAN'T BE SET IN A REALISTIC CITY LOCATION BECAUSE I CAN'T COMPREHEND IT!!!
im playing it for the first time
cleared out the hells kitchen level
its fun, i like the style, but yeah technically its pretty jank and controls need getting used to
thank you my brother in christ. you can also get it working through Steam Deck by adding gmdx as a shortcut with protonGE compatibility, closing the launcher, opening winetricks, and enabling .dot files in the drives section in winecfg, and then relaunching the setup to direct it to your Deus Ex folder, replacing the Deus Ex.exe with the GMDX.exe, and renaming it to Deus Ex, and then setting up a command line for it so saves work correctly -localdata
>nanoaugs are this super cutting edge tech >only bob page, the dentons, and simons have it >random mj12 "elite troops" have invisibility
GMDX shits on the lore just to be more like muh Mankind Divided.
Especially since some of the npcs have no patterns of movement. Just a spawn location and random instructions to move towards random directions for random amount of steps at random times. https://youtu.be/be6hQVXsnBo?t=1540
>its not fun to be a cyborg ninja obliterating people with shotguns and laser swords while shooting down missiles with your mind
Sorry about being a homosexual or whatever your issue is.
Just finished manking divided. I really enjoyed it (more than human revolution even) but I am so mad the story will never get finished. I NEVER EVEN LEARNED WHO JANUS WAS
The main story of MD is a smokescreen to hide the real story and the game makes those who blindly follow the objective marker and believe what characters say into useful idiots who buy into the false narrative.
Is Invisible War really not worth it at all?
Yes I understand the writing is bad but I'd still be down for some more Deus Ex gameplay.
And before you ask yes I played the other games already.
Invisible War is hilarious. You can literally kill all characters you meet and all of the factions will twist themselves into knots trying to justify still working with you despite you simultaneously helping and betraying all of them.
Recently tried to re-play it (for the 20th time) and it'd been a while. I ended up just telling the person I was showing it to (zoomer) that they'd probably not enjoy it and we moved on. It took me a good 10 seconds of confusion to remember how to pick things up.
I played it for the first time half a year ago and thought it was fun as frick.
I agree with both of these. It's a very fun game, but that's in spite of its jankyness.
no jank = no soul
Filtered. Back to consoles.
This is bait but you caught me. Eat a dick moron.
I'm still confused on what exactly does "jank" mean for games
What is it about older games that makes it janky?
For me jank mostly implies poorly responsive controls and sluggishness or badly thought-out UI choices.

I don't fricking know man I just laid out my own definition of jank, I don't think it applies to Deus Ex at all.
Bad controls, bad camera, buggy, weird unreliable mechanics, etc. If course none of it applies to Deus Ex, this game is fine.
I played every DX game except this first one because i just can't get over the shitty artstyle and bad looking enviroments.

>and no i am not graphic gay
I laughed irl

It's weird that their gameplay somehow got worse after SS2.
Also, this game is obsolete, just play something like Prey (2017) instead.
im playing it for the first time
cleared out the hells kitchen level
its fun, i like the style, but yeah technically its pretty jank and controls need getting used to
i've found the controls just fine apart from the r not being used to reload weapons
watch the PS2 cg cutscenes when you finish the game
You've already cleared the worst parts, it only gets better from here. I wish I could be you, experiencing the game again for the first time.
tbh sex isn't that janky. there's a lot worse out there
use the GMDX mod it makes it WAY less jank
based

>like MD
based finally it will be like a good game
Try doing a no kill run, you'll wish you was playing Human Revolution.
>no kill run
noob. ghost run is for real men
Especially since some of the npcs have no patterns of movement. Just a spawn location and random instructions to move towards random directions for random amount of steps at random times. https://youtu.be/be6hQVXsnBo?t=1540
I always play the first level, clear it, then never play the rest. Yes I know the first one is the worst, I still can't be fricked playing ore.
get the revision mod, it makes the game at least 10x better
You get the right to use his face as a YouTube avatar. Worth it.
It's not that janky, it's a pretty fun shooting RPG.
not even a zoomie but deus ex aged far worse than other games from the same time period
>deus ex aged
How?
it's a terrible game, read a fricking book.
i need a remake of this game so it will fit in more with the prequels's aesthetics and tone tbh.
>its not fun to be a cyborg ninja obliterating people with shotguns and laser swords while shooting down missiles with your mind

they're working on a new DX game since the fall of previous year, apparently it might be set in south asia.
The main story of MD is a smokescreen to hide the real story and the game makes those who blindly follow the objective marker and believe what characters say into useful idiots who buy into the false narrative.
I got to the weird underground pothead cult place and just kinda stopped playing
Janus is the hacker known as Ganker.. Source: my uncle works for Deus Ex.

Its ok. There's some fun moments here and there but the level design is actually abysmal.
If you're craving an immersive sim so badly why not play an indie title?
Invisible War is hilarious. You can literally kill all characters you meet and all of the factions will twist themselves into knots trying to justify still working with you despite you simultaneously helping and betraying all of them.

Are those fan remakes any good?
Use GMDX, it's smooth
