Correct me if I'm wrong, but my guess is that it's 20 hours of interviews and descriptions of quests and mechanics with absolutely no critical analysis
I used to like these until someone pointed out they aren't saying anything and just reading the wiki.
Those are barely analysis, he's just fricking describing quest and pointing where shit is. it seems like a lot of effort but there's zero effort in processing the information.
there isn't, it's just a compilation of quest summaries with "well duh, I don't like it" at the end of each segment
bottom of the barrel tier content
he's just reading the wiki for 20 hours and he acts like he's a genius for doing it too
a really weird specimen of autismo ngl
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my guess is that it's 20 hours of interviews and descriptions of quests and mechanics with absolutely no critical analysis
Black person it's just a series of smaller videos stitched together with a broader thesis, is this such a difficult concept for the third worlders who browse this board to understand.
There's some of that in the latter half, but the first is quite dense on analysis.
Skyrim was a product defined by Bethesda's contempt for the player and an attitude of mental laziness which led them to create deliberately opaque systems to hide how badly put together they really are, the same philosophy which seems to match the worldbuilding compared to previous titles.
Skyrim is a mess of contradictory ideas, even simple mechanics are layered in ways that don't at all play well with the rest of the game. Good example of this is the utter mess that is magic. Other than that, a lack of care or deeper thought on the side of Bethesda. That's what I got out of it at least.
I watched a fo3 one it was 6 hour it was just talking over their gameplay everything they said could have been summed up in half and hour but zoomers need their white noise.
But that's not actually true? There's almost always a point behind criticisms being made, supported by comparisons to other titles, assessments of how much effort it would take to fix, examinations of superior alternatives, which culminate in a suggestion of how to resolve the problem.
Pretty much every section endeavors to identify a problem, describe it in full detail, and then determine what a solution to the problem would be. None of that is found on a wiki.
If you've watched the videos, then you'd know that every section includes those things. Are you really going to tell me the magic rant got peeled off of a wiki?
>reads the wiki of each quest and mechanic for 20hours >rants about the shit he doesnt like in between reads >WOW THIS IS AN EXTREMELY HIGHBROW PATRICIAN TIER CRITIQUE OF A MASS APPEAL VIDEO GAME CREATED BY A LITTERAL GENIUS LEVEL INTELLECT CRITIC
>Shits on keyboard >Gets handler to solve capcha >Hits 'enter'
Just say you didn't watch the videos because they were too long, lol. His content is thorough and it always ends with a constructive statement about what would be achievably better.
If you've watched the videos, then you'd know that every section includes those things. Are you really going to tell me the magic rant got peeled off of a wiki?
You're replying to someone who unironically believes establishing context = plot recitation. Either that or shitposters.
PatricianTV is a known chud who has a bone to pick with any game that's even slightly progressive. He spends hours arguing about how the stormcloaks are totally not racist.
He has some good points but a solid like 30% of those videos are just nitpicks or plot description. And there's zero organization within his sections either, he just rambles from point to point. Good videos though.
Those are barely analysis, he's just fricking describing quest and pointing where shit is. it seems like a lot of effort but there's zero effort in processing the information.
Curse of Chalion is a mature book. The first one is literally about a 30-something year old man returning as a captive after a war, and trying to find a place in his old home town. When super natural stuff happens and makes his life interesting.
Cradle is the YA slop, but it's better written than most, so it's actually a good read. It's like finding a really good Shonen anime.
>Cradle
Based, more western fantasy authors should just transparently write battle shonen. Brandon Sanderslop would be so much better with tournament arcs.
I'm not saying you need it, but I like that the game has been thoroughly critiqued and I enjoyed hearing them.
So you're saying.... The whole review is just reading the wiki *and* doing witty commentary over the paragraphs?
No, I'm saying the review is a thorough critique of the game's systems followed by a practical explanation of how the problems with those systems could be fixed.
Except anyone who isnt a moron knows this? Hes preaching to an echo chamber you think the rando morons who bought and thoroughly enjoyed this game have played anything that isnt Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, CoD, or Zelda? All because you're smarter than zoo animals doesnt make you a genius.
You can know something broadly and you can know something deeply. You can understand the gist of the water cycle, or you can be an expert in ecology that specializes in assessing water tables.
There's disliking Skyrim, and there's thoroughly disassembling every mechanic in Skyrim to explain why it's bad.
I'm not saying you have to enjoy examining the water tables anon. I'm just explaining why I do.
1. There is a market of morons who want background noise, so they got some kind of longform audio stuff on random loop
2. Some people are insane enough to make the content ¨
3. Correct, "listening" not watching
>le establishing context
if establishing context takes 99.9% of your video and the last 0.1% can be condensed to basically >m-muh Morrowind!
then your video is worthless
sorry pat, everyone here can see that you're just playing the algorithm
If you can't make your point with brevity and focus, you're low IQ, period. Rambling about what happens in the game for hours is not edgy or impressive to anyone that isn't a teenager.
the whole video is literally >discuss a quest or mechanic >throw in an interview or clips of other skyrim reviewers discussing it >point out any good things about it, criticise its flaws, discuss other reviewers and interviews >propose a range of solutions or declare the issue too deep to fix
the video is long, you're free to not watch it all in 1 sitting since its all neatly compartmentalised
its long because its thorough, patricians tries to address any point someone may raise against his opinions to prevent any misunderstandings or bad arguments
>9 developers recount their experience with working on the game >its less than 1 hour long >while jobless homosexuals grind youtube ad revenue with 20 hour long videos reading fan wiki pages
The amount of seething anger this video has caused Ganker really makes you think. Maybe the whole "Ganker is primarily made up of third world hispanics with no taste" wasn't a meme after all.
I liked how the faction section was 40 minutes for the Stormcloaks, and 8 minutes for the Empire because the Empire doesn't give you anything to talk about, but he has to justify how the Stormcloaks aren't actually racist and what a true son of skyrim is. Also I didn't know most of the shield mechanics from the gameplay section, because Skyrim doesn't require any amount of mechanical depth so I didn't know it had a parry system
Skyrim doesn't demand much, you can get through the game without half of its mechanics. And you should because those mechanics are poorly explained to an exceptional level.
>because those mechanics are poorly explained to an exceptional level
homies are literally too dumb for skyrim
don't get surprised when TES6 is even more dumbed down
Well Todd didn't play his own game because unless you're playing on low difficulty, it is not a good idea to switch mid-playthrough, because you can't refund perks until the end of Dragonborn. Easiest switch to make is to stealth archer because of their insane damage bonuses allowing you to bypass the need of extra perks. But do switch on your level 30 character actually, it's funny.

Frick, spare me your intellectual superiority, my mind reels.
his call of duty videos are funny. his longform content is good for sleep. i read in bed and when my eyelids get heavy i put that shit on and fall asleep immediately.
he also gets very angry at todd. him going nuclear about magic in skyrim is the cream of the crop.
I actually noticed him getting a few things wrong in the Starfield video but I have no platform to respond.
Ultimately his content is fine but the whole cope about Stormcloaks being totally not racist is embarrassing. Just say you hate those fricking nigge- I mean Dark Elves you fricking pussy. Stop pretending.
this thread is fricking embarrassing. Imagine commenting with such completely unearned confidence and authority about something you have no actual fricking clue about
Fricking hate these videos. The "I REMADE X BUT ON Y GAME ENGINE" or devlog garbage is annoying as frick too. I lost track of just how many times I've clicked not interested on these. Recommend me videos that actually teach something useful for once.
Oh shit. And the speedrun videos too. How could I forget about the oh so dramatic narration of canaanitesodomite420's virtual record being beaten by molochwienersucker69 in a strong feat of playing the same game over and over and over again, only for him to get beaten swiftly by AdolfIsMyIdol1488 like a few weeks later. Or how about the 500th video that tries to tell you the entire damn story of some homosexual who cheated speedtroony runs in a kids mobile game.
Pic related. It's me getting angry over random videos on the internet.
What, can't handle a quick 20 hour reading of the Wiki?
>t.Hasn't actually watched anything
It's 20 fricking hours. Can you really blame us?
he won't frick you, he already has a boyfriend

i've watched these multiple times
I highly doubt that fricking Skyrim of all things has that much to talk about.
I used to like these until someone pointed out they aren't saying anything and just reading the wiki.

IT'S A PLAYTHROUGH WITH COMMENTARIES
/thread
>there are people im this thread who unironically spent 20 hours listening to an internet autismo talking about skyrim
For what purpose?
I really like the Elder Scrolls and listening to PatricianTV thoroughly discuss why Skyrim is the worst one was chicken soup for the soul.
Nah but just say longman bad instead of pretending you know anything about the content, lol
>why Skyrim is the worst one
I don't need to watch a 20 hour video for that

Consooming. Some 'people' have genuinely made videogames their entire life for some reason.

if it takes someone 9 hours to convey a point about a video game they're probably a fricktard who should be euthanized
Why does every meme-analysis calls itself "quick" when they always struggle to fill the time?
