Why did the 3DS remake and this unreal shit make the game look brighter. Ocarina is a notorious dark game and that's one of the things that helps with the atmosphere
The original concept/promotional art portrays the characters and settings as more bright and cartoony. OOT3D actually makes the game look closer to the art. That said, the muddy, dark visuals of the original OOT give it a tangible sense of atmosphere, especially in dungeons, which OOT3D often lacks. IMO an ideal remake would find a nice middle ground.
Do people not understand that darker color tones make it harder to see details on a handheld? That is why handheld versions have a lighter color to help game visuals to stand out on a small screen with potential screen glare. Even snes games that got ports to handhelds like Lttp and FF4/5/6 were darker than their handheld versions.
Of course that doesn't matter. Something tells me that if OoT 64 had the bright colors and the 3ds version came out with the darker graphics the same people would be b***hing about how OoT was "supposed" to have a brighter cheery atmosphere and the 3DS darker tones are just edgy and ruin it.
Turns out dumping stock UE assets in the rough shape of an OOT area is a lot easier than actually animating or modelling characters or making a camera.
