For the JRPG fanboy, going from endless Tolkien knockoffs to a generic scifi setting must be as eye opening and enthralling as dropping acid for the first time. I can't name any other scifi JRPGs aside from Endless Ocean? Except not it or this gacha trash actually commits to scifi as a setting, they're using swords and shit. Not even Star Wars shit, because the swords here look like dumb fantasy blades.

Take Star Ocean off that list. One of the biggest complaints is that it isn't an actual JRPG in space and you stranded on generic JRPG planet for the majority of the game almost instantly. Ironically 4 is the most sci-fi of all of them and its also the most hated.

Still not gonna roll for males though, my grind reserved for hags. HAGLOVE
Dedicating 75% of the story to this gay was a little too much. I liked his partnership with Dr Ratio and the tension during his scene with Sunday but the whole past and future self felt pretty dull.

the only gacha I play is nikker which is a rail shooter, if you like rail shooters it's alright, obviously if you don't like rail shooters don't play it. I would go to the arcade as a kid to play house of the dead a lot so I've always liked them because they remind me off that.
also it's the only gacha I'm aware of where the girls actually frick you and it's not 200 hours of "will-they-won't-they" garbage or like reading a 14 volume light novel series where the two leads don't so much as kiss the entire time.

It's not as bad as Reverse: 1999 I guess. I'm f2p but this game is just insanely grind-heavy. It's infinitely easier to be f2p for HSR than for R'99.

Star rail is garbage because it's literally a unfinished jrpg(and not a good one at that) that is centered around gacha for profit. There's tons of better jrpgs that are finished and aren't ruined by gacha. Why don't people play those, there is even jrpgs with gacha elements like xenoblade chronicles 2. It tries too hard to be like a real jrpg game and doesn't succeed in that. Jrpgs are mainly about story and star rails is shit and by the time the next update is out you'll forget what the story even was. It's gameplay also too simplistic to hold up against real jrpgs too.

Because it fills the void in my heart and I need something similar to play? I could finish a JRPG game then come back to play HSR then repeat if there decent new game to play. Since it is a pve game, I can come back anytime without the pressure of needing to complete daily or risk falling behind.
There are so many good games out there. So many jrpgs worth playing that have 50-100+ hours of content that you can be playing instead and without any pressure to login to do dailies or events.

This game hardest content is left clicking your mouse and the mini game events mostly 40 days long and can be cleared in just one hour.

JRPGs don't do real sci-fi. Even Star Ocean is just a fantasy story that baits you in by pretending to be sci-fi before locking you on a Dragon Quest planet for 50 hours. But more importantly, Star Rail does what most ongoing, constantly updating gacha games don't do: which, as you alluded to, is be an actual JRPG. That includes having a traversable map with random encounters and real cutscenes and characters to talk to that aren't just visual novel cutaways. Its a real video game with effort and money put into it that happens to also be a constantly evolving live service gacha, instead of a jpeg collector with tacked on gameplay.
