Look, I bought this game on release day, played it and put down 50 hours. I respect the game immensely as an RPG and an adaptation of D&D, but I am just never going to have to much fun actually playing it. This is some nerd shit. It barely even registers as a video game to me. The entire gameplay is just positioning units, dice rolls, casting skills and blowing up barrels. The peak of this game's gameplay is literally just arranging and blowing up barrels.
This isn't like Zelda where I spent hours building elaborate flying cars that fired homing laser beams everywhere while I flew through the underground. Or thought outside of the box to craft my own solution to puzzles, many of which I'm sure weren't the "intended" solution at all.
This isn't like Armored Core where I spent hours getting mogged brutally by some robot with 50 missile launchers. Until I rebalanced my build and mastered the controls enough that I was ripping Balteus in half and finding him easy. A genuinely learning curve that made me master a type of mech game I never played before.
This isn't like Street Fighter 6 where you took fighting gameplay that was already classic, but added in a stamina bar to create new combo opportunities and chances to break down the opponents defenses, or evade their attacks.
This isn't like Cyberpunk where they took a game that had problems, and them completely rebalanced the skill trees into something completely new. And then on top of it added 40+ hours of more content in an entirely new area, as well as a story arguably more compelling than the base game with incredible acting performances and setpieces to explore.
Hell this isn't even like Mario Wonder where they took platforming that will always be timeless, but then added a ton of trippy shit into the game, new power ups and badge abilities that made the entire Mario formula feel new again.
End of the day, I can think of at least 10 games this year that were vastly more fun than Baldur's Gate 3.

Well shit. She must be smart. Wise is her middle name.
Cool. Stupid chicks really put out.
Wrong, its not just dice rolling. There is also a lot of bad writing, quests, dialog etc.
The only one I liked was the dark druid thing, and barely
every single video game is dice rolling. do you not know how math works?
>Reddit spacing
>Liking zelda
It's called Tate spacing.
>actually played Marioslop #1583
Should've put that first so I could've stopped reading there. Acquire taste.
just play different games.
>It's literally just dice rolling
anon just discovered RNG and had to make a blog about it
I'll take things BG3 defenders say for $500, Alex. Every game is not RNG, to say differently is just strictly unture. Street Fighter has no randomness at all, all attacks and blocks have very specific frame data. The outcome always depends on the players' inputs. AC6 the enemies are programmed to have specific attack patterns and weaknesses that the player themselves must figure out how to exploit in one way or another. Mario the levels are all designed in a very exact way, there is little to no variation on how the level is presented, only variance is how the player actually plays. Zelda may have some level of randomness in what happens in the world, but how the player uses their zonai abilities to traverse, explore and solve puzzles is entirely open ended. You can also rebuild things exactly as you did previously with autobuild. Cyberpunk is similar to Zelda in that sense as well.
>Every game is not RNG
RPGs are RNG: The Genre
>I'll take RNG manipulation for $500 Alex
see, i can do it too, and you're wrong, almost ALL games have some form of RNG, whether it's keeping track of how many steps you've taken, or what your evade% is, there's rolls going on somewhere
if there aren't dice rolls, you're playing a game that's truly on rails
Most fighting games don't have any artificially coded RNG gameplay wise.
>Most fighting games don't have any artificially coded RNG gameplay wise.
i see can see your point
i still stand by my claim that most video games have RNG though, most bosses have a dice roll to determine it's attack pattern (not talking about fighting games)
Fighting games aren't RPGs
Bro I think you just don't like RPGs, so I'm not sure why you're b***hing about a game that belongs to that genre of game if you don't like the genre to begin with. I don't make threads b***hing about Counter-Strike because I don't like competitive multiplayer FPS.
>Fighting games aren't RPGs
nta but that's not his argument
he was pointing out to me that fighting games have little to zero dice rolls, and he probably has a point
however, almost ALL video games have some form of RNG (dice rolls), whether it be enemy placement, proc%, loot rolls, enemy behavior, etc. Even goldeneye64 has RNG, that's the point i was trying to make at least
Oh lord, you're going to cry every single day, for years.
Keep seething tendie, this is the best entertainment this week.
BG3 is how you tell someone pretends to play videogames
AC6 is true goty
>AC6 is true goty
kek not to anyone who actually likes AC
Don’t even fricking pretend to know a single thing about AC6 or the series you butthurt false flagging BG3 troony.
AC6 is my GOTY, but BG3 is right up there next to it and also entered my all time favorites
all turn based RPGs are dice rolling, this game is just more upfront with it because LOL IT'S D&D.
>all turn based RPGs are dice rolling
nearly ALL video games are dice rolling
any game that can be manipulated by it's RNG has "dice rolling"
that's nearly every game in existence, just because you can't see the dice doesn't mean they aren't there
>roll-plays a role-playing game
>complains about the dice rolling
>This is some nerd shit.
It's true. Still, you are clearly a consolegay and this take is why one cant discuss videogames here.
... literally nothing I posted has anything to do with consoles? The only games I played this year on a console were Mario and Zelda. Everything else I played on PC.
Consolegay is a state of mind.
cool twitch emote
People like it because its accessible, and made by and for moronic people. My brain rotted friends love this slop and vampire survivor games, which leads me to believe that only sub 75 IQ people enjoy it.
Oh cool, new cope has arrived.
>buys a cRPG
>complains that it's just dice rolling and tactics + story
Why the frick did you buy it in the first place? It's like buying a COD and saying "uhh it's just shooting, there's no basketball like in NBA or some shit". You're not the target demographic for this game.
crpgs are shit
larian making one of the worst crpgs ever made doesn't really help
anon...
Dice rolling is a very big hobby in china. 30% army uses it's voting power.
At some point people need to stop being disingenuous and understand the reason people like the game is because of how open-ended it is and how reactive it is to your decisions, far above even games from a decade and a half ago. It approaches Ultima levels openness.
That takes a lot of effort, and your typical studio would consider it "wasted resources" to put so much effort to things a lot of players may never even see.
>people like it because hidden in the cutscenes is a really shitty choose your own adventure minigame that has zero impact on anything outside of the conversation or sometimes in the conversation itself
wow, just like witcher 3
>wow, just like witcher 3
If you played both, you'd know that's not true.
OP just proved he only gets excited for games based on muscle memory and reflexes yet he's unwilling to try anything but the same old shit thats been around for decades
the award should've gone to the ACT 1 and ACT 1 alone
this isnt your livejournal homie take it elsewhere
ok
>this isnt like zelda, street fighter, cyberpunk, chink mech game or bing bing wahoo, now THATS FUN
its 2023, if you actually wanted fun in videogames youd be playing shit like race and flight sims in VR with force feedback joystick and wheel, and i guess half life alyx. everything else is the same shit we've had for the past 20 years with just marginally improved gameplay mechanics and shiny graphics
you sound like a homosexual
>This isn't like Cyberpunk where they took a game that had problems, and them completely rebalanced the skill trees into something completely new. cyberjank still feels like a shallow piece of shit. theres no weight behind anything, not the way guns shoot, not the way your character moves or any of the abilities work, it just goes to show how modern developers cant program worth frick and gaymurs dont even want truly fun games. just like how the NPCs constantly clip through all kinds of shit, nothing in that game even feels like it actually exists, its all hollow setpieces, its slop for consolegays with autoaim at 30fps who cant aim worth dick and will eat and play anything thrown in front of them
There is also gay writing
And plenty
>It's literally just dice rolling
I only read that, and I know that shooting dice is dope, so I'm gonna assume the rest of your post is gay.
D&D is fricking garbage. It’s a boring system that was invented when video games were barely a thing. All tabletops are boring shit btw.
>All tabletops are boring shit btw.
tabletops are only as boring as the people playing them, sounds like you have no/boring friends
They’re boring by design. Every action takes forever. You waste 5 hours rolling dice to fight a bunch of goobers. Any video game that uses this system has irredeemable shit combat and can only be carried by story and setting.
sounds like you have boring friends and ADHD
Same OP
not a single person in person has played this
Know a few cool friends who played AC6, but all the supposed “hype” for BG3 has just been from terminally online Reddit morons.
>shits on BG3 for being slow, turned based dice rolls but defends this shit
