Dion's pretty good, I agree. Although it may just be me, but I felt somewhat unsatisfied when Dion and Terence kissed. It was a touching moment overall, but for some reason they cut the camera to a further distance away from them. Was it simply because they couldn't animate it? Felt rather jarring if you ask me, but other than that he seemed fine. Terence could've been fleshed out more especially.

Although it is a niche appeal, I can kind of see what you mean to a certain extent. Especially in rpgs with vast worlds, it can be immersive to take part in activities that aren't strictly regulated to combat. For Final Fantasy 7 there was the Gold Saucer or in 8 and 9 there were the card games. To be fair they did have their issues.

Shit like summoning Doom train by collecting magazines and figuring out how to get him to show up, or the Tonberry King, or getting new limit breaks for Zell and Rinoa.

FFXIII and FFXII both had this issue too, and I feel like it's a big reason why I didn't enjoy them as much. That's right, I think the same was in FF6 with the Opera, for one famous example. I suppose the devs just either don't want to bother or perhaps they might think they can't implement them properly. This is just me assuming, but I would still welcome a return of that mechanic.

Yeah. Like it's definitely the longest DMC game I've ever played, I'd rate this a 10/10 as an action game.
But I think a lot about Astral Chain and how that game, while having pretty enjoyable combat, also had a frick-ton of side-content that really let you lean into the Slice-of-Life, day-to-day of being a cyberpunk cop. Hanging out at the precinct, shooting the shit with co-workers, logging reports, helping citizens with both criminal and mundane problems.
While Astral Chain was definitely a Platinum Action game, it was the side content that really let the action POP because I had a point of comparison for what my character even does when they're not attacking demons with an invisible ghost.
Like, the anime cyberpunk city of the Ark in Astral Chain felt more fleshed out than Valisthea in FFXVI, DESPITE FFXVI ostensibly being in the genre of game that is renowned for its worldbuilding

It's accessible for casuals but it has depth if you apply yourself and learn.
Casual spammers won't be as efficient as good players but they can still progress through the game. Unsure how Final Fantasy Mode in NG+ changes that though.

I have seen some reviewers (the ones that care about combat) wish the hard mode was unlocked from the start since some sections can be easy.
