They went woke. No zero suit and samus doesn’t strip as a reward for speed runs. This game has no replayability. Also why the frick is Kraid in the game? Lore sucks.

I just cant play 2D games. Theyre incomplete reddit garbage clearly missing a 3rd dimension of movement and better graphics. Only gay homosexual boomer morons love 2D games since they had to play trash that wasnt as advanced. Imagine going to a restaurant and getting full on breadsticks because thats what all 2D games feel like.

As a Metroid aficionado, Dread really wasn't that good.
There's a reason many players still speedrun Super to this day.

Timmy, just because you watched your favorite homosexual troon speedrunner break certain segments of the game doesn't mean it's fun.

    >It's not that good, it's just way too linear
    real shit
everyone keeps trying to say it has sequence breaks, but what's the point of breaking the sequence in a small part of the game?
unlike SM where you could go fight Ridley first if you wanted to, Dread forces you into a subset of bosses/upgrades before you can move onto the next one without doing any major glitches (i.e EMMI skips, magnet skip etc)
You try to go to the water area first to get all the good shit early, doesn't matter, game forces you to fight Kraid for diffusion beam
you try to skip Escue (storm missile homie) you can't. there's a storm missile box blocking the path to the end game area
you get storm missile and you skipped that one double chozo robot fight? can't. the door literally won't open
you want to skip cross bomb? lol no
only ability you can skip without major glitches is space jump

Fighting ridley first is super fricking hard to do

        Anonymous

But it's possible. That's the point of sequence breaking and skipping objectives
If you really want to you can skip every optional boss in SM and ZM
It'd be cool if you could skip every boss except Z-57 after releasing the X parasites, or skipping EMMIs like the wave beam one simply because you can

The suit looks awful and EMMIs aren't fun, and the music is bad. The game isn't unplayable but falls short of Metroid standards. No more bio domes please.

I am fricking tired of the bio-sector shit that was introduced by that garbage shit Fusion and forced on the rest of the 2D series. And no, riding an elevator to another region is not good inter-connectivity.

For Prime 4, I want to see the transitions between regions streamlined so that we don't need doors or elevators, you just walk past a room and you're in a new area or a new section of an old area. Kinda like Dark Souls 1.

I didnt like the QtE sections, felt too tryhard on making samus look like a badass when the prime games got her badass behavior down.

Also the lighting engine they used for dread looks like shit. Lighting can cover up poor texture work but the opacity is turned up to 200% and every light is a miniature sun that just blows out every texture

    >wienersucking lil zoomzoom twitch-watching homosexual throws a tantrum that you refuse to break the game to get early upgrades or do a DT slide to skip Drogyga just like his/her/them's favorite twitch streamer Priscilla Rainbow.

You mock zoomers yet write like a 15 year old. Do you just hate Dreads glitches or do you also hate things like mochball, gravity jumps and blue suit?

There's supposed to be an apostrophe here. Too bad autocorrect can't fix all your mistakes, right?

Not him. But if I have to glitch the game to sequence break it, then I'm not even going to bother. First of all, I didn't even know the mockball in super existed for years. Then when I found out, I tried it, and went "huh... neat", and nothing of substance was changed. Because the game wasn't designed around that sequence break.

Unlike Zero Mission where it's actually designed to be sequence broken. Discovering those methods were a lot of fun.
Or a game like la-Mulana, where it's so sprawling, that you can do things in all kinds of weird orders.
Or a game like Phoenotopia Awakening. Where you're actually challenged to use your tools in creative ways. So on the first playthrough, you might think you needed a tool from later in the game to solve a puzzle, then on the second playthrough, you realize you had what you needed early on. You just needed to think a little outside the box.

To me, this is what makes a world interesting. Not some esoteric glitch that got passed around through word of mouth.

    >he thinks Metroid Prime 4 will escape this fate

With the rise of motion sickness, rise of people hating the backtracking because Samus moves too slow and the rise of Nintendo games in general just making things easier and easier you're a fool if you think MP4 also won't be plagued with this, hell I expect Mp4 to lean way more heavily in generic FPS action

Are there any other anons that feel the same in thinking that the d-pad controls of the older titles are way more satisfying than the 360 degree stick control of the MercurySteam games?

          Anonymous

Yeah. I emulated Dread and played it on keyboard, and later played a little bit of it on a friend's console. Combat is a lot better when you can only shoot in 8 directions, because it means you need to move and position yourself in a certain way in order to get hits, and that usually means making yourself vulnerable. With full aiming, as long as it's in line of sight you can shoot it. That tends to make most regular enemies and several boss attacks really trivial to deal with, which is disappointing.
