whooooooooa so deep amirite you guys?
Time for my annual Arcane Dimensions playthrough.
Nice.
i finished clive barker's undying and it was alright. combat feels great and there's a varied bestiary, but different races of enemy aren't mixed together to make for exciting encounters. the last few levels are underwhelming too, the final boss is crap. but at least there's some standout atmosphere in the game, particularly the pitter-patter of rain on the windows of the mansion.
now im wanting to play some custom maps for it, but later in october im wanting to play REmake and Dead Space 2. ive already played a bit of DS2 last year and its the only game ive played to make me feel consistently anxious and scare me.
>arcane dimensions
>not zerstorer
>not warpspasm
>not the spiritworld
those 3 are the most atmospheric quake episodes i played. although zerstorer is really easy.
https://mega.nz/folder/Yb4yGJyI#dC7EHqr78fiGN5HTVL2RRQ here's your complementary warp spasm mixtape.
nah, i think that the problem is that the game is super front-loaded. but there's still some standout levels later on, my favorite being The Siege. war-torn city streets scored by an air siren.
i forgot, here's a hex maniac too.
All is forgiven.
Spiritworld was kino, it had that feeling of going deeper and deeper into the abyss. Kinda reminded me a bit of some parts of Fatal Frame games.
>Kinda reminded me a bit of some parts of Fatal Frame games.
now i REALLY need to play those games. what are the ones with the best story and the best gameplay?
I've only played 1-3, 2 was my favorite. 1 is a little rough around the edges and the English VAs are pretty bad, but I enjoyed them all. IIRC they all reference each other, but you could jump into 2 just fine. The games mostly have you going around villages above ground, but there's some really great abyssal atmospheres in places.
>Kinda reminded me a bit of some parts of Fatal Frame games.
Go play it.
>i finished clive barker's undying and it was alright
do you still hear "Jammed." too?
stock
is it spooky?
I was thinking in replaying REmake 4, but I kinda want a new story/setting. So im torned between Desd Space ane Callisto Protocol: the former seems better, but the latter is coming to ps plus so is way cheaper
Based active directory appreciator. The pinnacle of videogame map design.

might finally give troonypunk a try
Is that really horror?
Body horror
cant imagine these words coming out of anyones mouth
I'm afraid to ask but what "game" is this? So I can avoid it.
Looks like a corporate training slide
Might do my yearly playthrough of Miasmata on Halloween.
Wait, that game actually turned out to be good?
Buddy its been out for over a decade how have you not even seen gameplay of it. Not even the same guy but yes its great.
I never beat it but it's max comfy to try lol
Starting with DUSK.
co-op never ever
dusk hd
i think they did this to appease boomers who were never interested in DUSK b***hing about how it uses low poly models and low res textures. honestly while i dig some of the changes the footage shows how flat the lighting for some of the levels were, and that shouldve been something that was changed. make levels darker, have trees cast shadows, etc. having low-key lighting is a really good way to cover up limited graphics.
screenshot is from warp spasm for quake.
>the footage shows how flat the lighting for some of the levels were
Yeah, I noticed the same. I wonder if it's gonna clash hard, personally I never minded the shit graphics, but the (outdoor mainly) levels still look like shit. There are tons of gorgeous Doom/Quake levels, so yeah it's not like it can't be done.
>There are tons of gorgeous Doom/Quake levels, so yeah it's not like it can't be done.
i think the most fair comparison would be to early custom quake maps. personally i find the "more brushes = better" mentality stupid because that doesn't mean super detailed modern maps are more fun or even atmospheric. and people who critique the old-school shooter revival for pushing games that don't look as good as Arcane Dimensions don't understand that, they just wanna jerk off to screenshots. 90s custom maps show you can make really minimalist environments look cool just through clever lighting. give me that along with something original aestheticallythematically over something trying desperately to ape AD. pic from here https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/darkfst.html
I always thought Dusk was a step too low poly for my taste, to a point where it looked bad. There just wasn't enough detail to make enemies stand out, and instead the all looked like origami stick men. But now I worry they've overdone the effects, because the bump mapping looks awful on these completely flag surfaces. It's mixing low poly and high res
>There just wasn't enough detail to make enemies stand out, and instead the all looked like origami stick men.
that i do understand. and judging by what im seeing now of the new textures, those changes weren't a good call. shouldve just stuck to making higher poly models, and i think it would be beneficial to lower the res on the skins too.
Yeah, there's no real consistency between the polygon count, texture resolution and the bells and whistles. But I guess I should wait until the full trailer at least, before I write it off
>1st they undershot it
>2nd they'll overshoot
This. Saw it yesterday on RealmsDeep.
I'm glad we finally get Aftershock tomorrow!
I know dusk is a meme for shit and rightfully so but I don't think I've ever felt the urge to go back and replay it.
Cultic on the other hand...
Looks like shit, why'd the ruin the sovl?
Made it look like a phone game or something on the switch.
I think it's supposed to be like a parody of those HD texture packs you'd see for old games.
>I think it's supposed to be like a parody of those HD texture packs you'd see for old games.
ohhhhhhh. i wonder if thats true. as much as i like New Blood's games they have an awful habit of letting their ironic, memey sense of humor get in the way of the actual games and presenting them to people. i remember that when Dillon Rogers was trying to present Gloomwood during a PC Gamer expo Oshry constantly talked over him making "coom" jokes. this is something that may have lost them customers, for the longest time i thought Gloomwood was just a Thief clone with an identity crisis instead of the awesome stealthy survival horror game it ended up being.
>i remember that when Dillon Rogers was trying to present Gloomwood during a PC Gamer expo Oshry constantly talked over him making "coom" jokes.
Source? I can't seem to find this.
I hope there's a way to have the HD weapon models but keep the old enemy models. I don't care for the style much, and I think they're a bit over animated. Similar problem I have with Gloomwood enemies.
Neat, reminds me a ton of the Half Life HD models (in a good way)
This game is so fricking boring.
it's a fricking boomer shooter, how fried are those dopamine receptors homie?
>it's a boomer shooter
Yeah. They died for a reason.
Yea because the market was being oversaturated with shooters at the time, not for whatever shitty reason youre thinking of
It's funny watching history repeat itself as we get a few very good 90s throwback FPS titles and then suddenly the market is completely flooded with mediocre ones as people try to jump on the trend.
>It's funny watching history repeat itself as we get a few very good 90s throwback FPS titles and then suddenly the market is completely flooded with mediocre ones as people try to jump on the trend.
i think the problem is that most of the games you'd see in Realms Deep that border on being DoomQuake clones are passion projects by people who have little prior game dev experience. i have my hopes that they arent trend chasing, theyre just misguidedly putting themselves in a box. as a fan of old-school shooters i try to be optimistic because i want this current revival to succeed and turn into a renaissance.
>Winter's Fury
i'll need to check this out. while i havent played it yet A.L.T. is a WAD that comes up in discussions about surreal Doom maps.
yes. interesting how the levels were more hub-like at one point and the devs had to hack together linear variations using arbitrarily locked doors and collapsing walls to appease EA. maybe it was the right call considering how convoluted layouts can get in the final game, but i wouldve preferred heavily consolidated levels that are still hubs. but since the game was so rushed that couldnt happen, big shame. rn im playing The Village map pack, use of cutscenes is impressive, love the dark lighting and the ghost town theme is pretty original.
go back to fortnite, youre so close to bugging mommy for that obama skin
Still playing Starfield
Still having fun

Finally gonna get around to playing Amnesia: The Bunker
As a tip, read every letter you find and be a bit israelitey with your resources while you learn the ropes.
This is game pure kino, except for the fricking rats.
FRICKING RATS.
Pay the rat toll, cuckman.
maybe i'll actually finish darkwood this time
Was there something you disliked?
nothing, just 2spooky4me
Understandable.
Not him but I get burnt out in the 2nd map pretty fast.
Fricking this. Every year I get half way through it and end up just going to something else. I don't dislike it, I love the audio and gameplay is fine.
Gunna give this a shot.
Playing thru Arcane Dimensions sounds like a good time too, thanks.
Would that run on real atari? The game is pretty interesting but not enough for me to buy it
Highly unlikely, especially Chapter 3. There's some genuine bullet hell stuff going on. It would do better than most though.
Based, hope you like it. I plan on playing it again for October.
Any game with matchmaking because there is nothing scarier than waiting to see if you got teamed up with the worst people to play the game(s), which you often do

going to give the hl1 mod "They Hunger" a try and also possibly "Night at the Office" as well
night at the office sucks, but they hunger rocks
What's the best way to play They Hunger? There's like 50 fricking links on the ModDB page, but I'm guessing I should use They Hunger: Trilogy crossplatform v1.0.5? Anything I need to know with Half-Life versions, Steam and what not?
They Hunger 1, 2 and 3

EAX emulator
CRT set at 640x480
hell yeah really liked that mod
They Hunger is amazing. Really sad that the sequel never came out, it might've been good
Come to mommy!

AHH
No it's not, nafri.
Shut up you kuffar.
Time for the yearly playthrough of Resident Evil 3. And after that maybe Alien Isolation.
Recently played it for the first time - it was the remake. Really enjoyed it. Definitely worth the £6 I paid for it. Overall, the game is stronger than the 2nd game because it's more consistent throughout. Both excellent games, though.
>the game is stronger than the 2nd game because it's more consistent throughout
Really? If I understand correctly you're saying you like the RE3 remake better than the RE2 remake? I finished RE3 remake once and never touched it again, while I replayed RE2 remake at least 5 times
that's actually a fricking awesome ad

been playen a lot of phasmophobia in VR with a friend. Shit is awesome
Hey me too! Phasmophobia is great to play in VR and oddly enough the playerbase is very sociable. When my buddy is offline I join pub games and everyone is amazed at VR in general. I've had half a dozen people add me as friends on steam in like a week of play
Aliens: Dark Descent. Seems neat.
i didnt get a chance to play signalis last year because of plague tale, should i play it this year?
I'm not your dad, play what you want.
Frick you dad you tell me what to do
It's a walking sim with an interesting narrative and atmosphere but shit gameplay. Can't really be scared of almost harmless enemeis.
It’s one of my favorite survival horror titles ever next to REmake and OG RE2. Atmosphere is spot on, but it is easy with ammo and health drops being very plentiful. I’ve heard the harder difficulty is a more welcome challenge but I will find out for myself later this month.
REmake4 it's not scary, but the nostalgia feels like playing the original Resident Evil 4 as a teenager so it still feels appropriate.

No it doesn't.
>I'm highly susceptible to shilling by e-celebs
This but Ganker.
Yes it does, and each episode is more boring than the last. The whole time it just made me wish I was playing episode 1 again.
ep1 is a shitty ammo preservation sim
I couldn't care less about what you think, it's the only time I wasn't bored out of my fricking mind in that game. It's the same flaw Doom and Heretic have where the best levels are in the first episode because they have to show the best they got for the shareware in order to entice people to buy the full game.
spastic take
Actually it's a pretty common take to think City of the Damned and KDITD are the best episodes. Bonus for KDITD being the absolute most played vanilla mapset and one of the most played overall in the pre-Skulltag days, especially for DM.
Try Death Wish. It works with Fresh Supply and is better than the base game: https://www.moddb.com/mods/death-wish-for-blood
Will check it out, thanks.
you have ADHD and don't actually like FPS games
Whatever helps you cope with differing opinions, you big baby.
Can highly recommend. It's mainly gore porn but the plot and atmosphere is solid throughout.
this but unironically
bloods modpacks are better than the game itself
Blood is the most overrated piece of shit in all of video games. It fricking SUCKS even for it's time. It's just an entire game of crouching to avoid hitscan enemies. It's designed like garbage despite how cool it all looks.
every time i bring up doom or blood, it's always the same stupid fricking argument about hitscans

I just finished RE:Containment today, it was okay. For the rest of the month i will probably replay Castlevania games like i always do.
might just replay cry of fear for the fourth time.
Oh and maybe SA2 and sonic heroes too, just for those levels themed around halloween that were really fun
That's a cool image.
Dead Space remake
Doom 3
Doom 64
Mortuary Assistant
Cultic (if that counts as a spooky)
RE2make
RE4make
RE8 (I've yet to finish this. Having Demetrescu as the first boss killed my vibes because I thought she'd be around longer)
Amnesia: The Bunker
I don't have many horror games on my radar.
>RE8 (I've yet to finish this. Having Demetrescu as the first boss killed my vibes because I thought she'd be around longer)
Did you quit right after you beat her?
>Doom 3
idk if thats a good pick. the atmosphere is ok and the writing is good but the combat is boring and doesnt really count as a survival horror game. i suggest system shock 2 instead, its sci-fi horror too but its a way more challenging and fun game because it abides by survival horror standards. amazing soundtrack too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuPYnma2TBs
>Amnesia: The Bunker
i just found out my steam account had Dark Descent. for the longest time i avoided playing it but i thought that a horror game without weapons wouldnt be fun but now its something im interested in. i also wanna play Penumbra: Black Plague too.
if anyone has suggestions for Dark Descent custom stories im all ears.
>RE8 (I've yet to finish this. Having Demetrescu as the first boss killed my vibes because I thought she'd be around longer)
I feel you on that. I kept playing long enough to finish the spooky doll house but my heart just wasn't in it after the vampire waifus were gone. Kinda wanted to stick around for mother Miranda, but I'm Catholic so I can just go devote myself more to the woman she's clearly based on for all the effort it would take to slog through more werewolf shooting galleries.
What's up with white people and their fascination of consuming thematic media during certain yearly celebrations?
If I feel like I want to play scary games, I'll just play them whenever, I don't fricking wait for a specific time of year. Same thing for Christmas type games.
Black person
you wouldn't get it
we forget about it until october reminds us about spooky stuff again just like you forget to pay alimony
I'm not even white, you dumb Black person.
White people are too spoiled with life in low crime areas but don't want to go out of their safe zone to play scary games very often.
>low crime are
doesn't exist outside of japan
How fricking mind broken does someone have to be to even consider posting something like this?
Not white, by the way
it gets darker earlier in the fall so i don't have to stay up late on a work night to get fully immersed
I might pick up the Separate Ways dlc for RE4R. And if Dead Island 2 goes down to $30 or less in a sale, I might grab that too. Otherwise I might play Dead Space 2 and some of the other RE games again. And probably some obligatory L4D2 and KF2.
>Redditween
not horror but this
Little Nightmares 1&2 plus the mobile game
Finally getting around to The Sinking City
Costume Quest 1&2 if I have time
I also got Apple Arcade so I’ll probably mess around with whatever spooky games are on there.
Not a bad pick! I’m gonna replay all of them when I’m in a better place life wise. I love that shitty series so much it’s unreal.
>I’m gonna replay all of them when I’m in a better place life wise.
get well soon anon 🙂
Yo I played Happy Time Circus 1 & 2 last Halloween and had a pretty great time. Solid picks. The HL1 mod Swiss Cheese Halloween is also a classic (it's pretty clunky at times though).
Outlast 1 and 2
Thanks for this, anon. Doing a October horror all media marathon and games were the only ones missing on the list.
Any recent horror games worth playing? And don’t say lol lmao
>yume nikki

I went to that white desert and some floating monstrosity starting flying towards me slowly and I quit the game and uninstalled.

I'll replay the first silent hill
I'll be playan doom wads
Same here, brother. Any specific recommendations?
did you play myhouse.wad?
I haven't! I'll have to look into that one, thanks
Come here and I'll show you my wad.
I've been playing the original in VR. Never played doom before so I'm going in mostly blind. It's fricking scary, man. Walking through those dark areas without a clue what's ahead, knowing there could be a demon hiding around any corner. And some of those music tracks, god damn. Sounds like a fricking horror movie, not like the heavy metal action massacre I thought the whole game was. I haven't beat E2M6 yet, died twice so far (the rules I set for myself means dying sends me back to the start of the episode). After hearing the scream of a hell baron and being chased through those narrow dark hallways, my knees were shaking.
In vr? Didn't know that was a thing. I get spooked or even jumpscared by the Spectres pretty frequently.
Mod called gzdoom vr. Using it with my Quest 2 plugged into my pc, I think it's compatible with other mods. There's a standalone version for quest 2 as well.
Yeah the atmosphere this game has is much more endearing and interesting to me than the modern doom slayer legendary warrior type thing they have going on. Reading the story in the manual tells us he doesn't even expect to survive, he just wants to "take a few down on his way out". I just saw a snes commercial for doom that was really badass, they also went for the surviving against insane odds take. I think the speed is the same in VR, to me it seems like you still move absurdly fast especially when sprinting.
>Yeah the atmosphere this game has is much more endearing and interesting to me than the modern doom slayer legendary warrior type thing
Glad to hear it.
I'm a total boomer gamer, and first touched Doom 1 back in the 1990s on my buddy's Pentium PC. I have no love for the nu-Dooms, and it feels like whenever anyone tries to explain the massive differences in style and gameplay, the Bethesda fanboys just treat you like a lunatic.
>I think the speed is the same in VR, to me it seems like you still move absurdly fast especially when sprinting.
That's good then. I just assume it must feel extremely disorientating in VR.
>Sounds like a fricking horror movie, not like the heavy metal action massacre I thought the whole game was.
Original Doom was inspired by the Evil Dead and Alien films. The "lol rip n tear, amirite?? ;)" is like a collective mandela effect, resulted by the 2000s' internet memes and the advent of the casual "military" shooters on consoles slowing the action down.
The real Doom (tm) experience's always been about the "vulnerable badass" main character, somehow surviving against insane odds.
Really the only thing you'll be missing in VR is the SPEEEED and circle-strafing around 200 demons.
what's the whole myhouse.wad thing about?
i've never played doom on a computer, just an ipod touch back in middle school 15 years ago
>what's the whole myhouse.wad thing about?
A meme mindfrick mod that mixes DOOM with Gone Home.
>i've never played doom on a computer,
Do so. Doom 1-2 are arguably two of the most crucial and endlessly replayable video games ever made.
For a vanilla run, use the Chocolate or Crispy Doom source-ports.
For beeeg overhaul mods, you'll need the GZdoom.
A doom wad about being homosexual. Uses some cool techniques in level design to create branching progression and areas, for multiple endings.
>what's the whole myhouse.wad thing about?
duuuuude liminal spaces and the back rooms maaaaan
It doesn't do anything actually interesting or new if you've been playing doom wads for the last decade or so but its popular with the brutal doom crowd.
>what's the whole myhouse.wad thing about?
It's a popular mod so people here hate it by default.
recommend me a megawad to play
I won't. I only play classic Dooms, because I'm not a homosexual.
I've only played some early version of Brutal Doom back in 2012, and I hated it.
>only play brutal
>dude i fricking hate mods now
sounds like your the homosexual.
Only literal homosexuals and PIebbitors play mods before finishing the games.
your fitting in, congratulations anon!

> The "lol rip n tear, amirite?? ;)" is like a collective mandela effect, resulted by the 2000s' internet memes and the advent of the casual "military" shooters on consoles slowing the action down.
The Doom comic is from 1996.
Probably Silent Hill 3, beat 2 a few months ago and I've heard 3 isn't quite as piss easy with the abundance of ammo so maybe it'll have some actual tension after the first 2 hours.
No way anon, Ganker says that SH2 is the scariest game ever all the time, clearly you did something wrong.
I hope Power Drill Massacre is out in time for Halloween.
I played murderhouse and thought it was neat.
Any other recommendations from the same studio or similar games?
Stay Out Of the House it’s like of murder house cross bred with Alien: Isolation and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the OG movie)
Looks like a typical denizen of Glasgow.
Is this game running as fast as it’s supposed to? The music seems a bit slow. I’m running it on Mesen.
Its like 25% slower then it should be. Compare to this
I found the problem- for some reason EU Roms of NES games often play at 5/6 speed. If you specifically search for a USA version, it plays at the correct speed.
Ah, its the good old pal region thing. Pal region is 50hz and ntsc is 60hz. Use nestopia to remove problem without tweaking. Nestopia still supports drag and drop rom opening so its by far the easiest to use
lol, a few minutes ago i heard this strange noise from outside that sounded like a whiny scream from someone whos having a mental breakdown. tis the spooky season.
PAL localizations of NTSC games had little effort put into them. NTSC runs at a higher framerate than PAL so a lot of PAL versions of games run slower.
I wanna eat that pumpkin
Just watch out for "seeds".
imagine getting this mad over a post on this site

Holy frick it's been like 13 years since I played Happy Time Circus 2. I will replay it now.
WAS THE DEAD SPACE REMAKE ANY GOOD?
PREASE
RESPOND
It's worse than the original. Just force vsync thru your GPU and cap the FPs at 60, and the original works fine.
There's only one or two spots where the original softlocks from a high framerate, and one is right at the start where you can't pass thru a door because an invisible wall doesn't go away. It's very obvious if it's not working.
All remakes are objectively worse than the originals by default due to being soulless cashgrabs made to appeal to a new generation.
Yes its solid, but the main horror comes from how the game is far too dark. There are less necros that attack you and they aren't quite as scary as in the original.
Little Nightmares 2 and maybe Dead Space.
This is my list of cool Halloween games, though I will obviously only play a few: >Boktai 1-3 (GBA) + Lunar Knights (DS)
>Castlevania (any of the good ones), also Kid Dracula NES and GB
>Special mention for Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, and its Pumpkin mode wherein you are a little jack-o-lantern dude and go trick-or-treating in the castle
>Splatterhouse 1-3 + Gaiden + 360/PS3 reboot
>Friday the 13th NES
>Medievil
>Pumpkin Jack
>Costume Party 1-2
>Fallout 4 (bombs dropped near Halloween, so lots of Halloween decorations up; this mod adds some cool Halloween posters and radio: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/34796 other mods can add more horror elements if you like, particularly Ghoul enhancements)
>Super Mario Land 2 (there's a Halloween themed world that you can go directly to after the first level)
>Sonic Adventure 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZj_MZVXNg4)
>Resident Evil (any, but the first/REmake/VIII have the best Fall vibes, IMO)
>Bloodborne
>Luigi's Mansion (original or 3DS remake)
>Silent Hill 1-3
>Zombies Ate My Neighbors
>Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
>Clock Tower
>Ghouls 'n Ghosts/Ghosts 'n Goblins (any)
>Gargoyle's Quest (any)
>Monsters In My Pocket (NES)
>Monster Party (NES)
>Kingdom Hearts 2 (Halloween Town)
>The Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror GBC
>Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King GBA
>Pinball of the Dead GBA
>Buffy (various GBC/GBA/XBOX/PS2 games)
>Frankenstein NES
>Holy Diver NES
>Savage Halloween
>Ghostbusters (HAL games on NES/GB, Compile game on Genesis, Terminal Reality game on modern platforms)
>Halloween Racer (GBC)
>Baby Felix Halloween (GBC)
>Batty Zabella (GB but modern)
>Hammerin' Harry: Ghost Building Company (GB)
>Animal Crossing (any, they all have Halloween events/Fall season)
>WoW/FFXIV/most MMOs have Halloween/Fall events
Hammerin' Harry I beat the other day, it was fun. Going to try the REmake with the A.I. upscaled textures tonight.
's Mansion
was about to say this. The whole series is pure kino, the 3rd one would've been the best if it wasn't so rushed at the final areas of the game.
I would also add Magicka, a few chapters and two of the DLC adventures are Autumn/spooky themed
1-3 + Gaiden + 360/PS3 reboot
My frickin homie. Love those games to death.
Death Wish, I guess. Even though E4 isn't out yet and I'm worried I'll get sick of it before it finally releases
Another episode, what?
playing grim then whispering chills for fo4. will probably play alien isolation as well.

any suggestions anon? i dont usually like e-celeb stuff, but i enjoy Wendigoon's and Lore Lodge's videos.
I'll try and list a few that I enjoy

sorry lad, but a lot of those picks epitomizes why i dont like youtube that much. i've been spoiled so much by reading old interviews and write-ups by game devs (particularly on what is now called gamedeveloper.com) that the more sensationalist content of gaming e-celebs just don't compare.
ashens is still cool in my book tho. i watched his stuff a lot when i was a kid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN8coFfHrXs
You should like this then.
The guy gives a lot of insight on the game including development, philosophy and structure of SH 2.
Pretty well paced too.
that sounds really cool anon, i'll check it out.

He's alright but I can't fricking stand him audibly smacking his lips like a fricking pig during his food reviews.

He's alright too.
I cannot stand Civvie's voice, and his attempts at humor just hurt my soul.
>No Shitstorms in 5 years
Why did you have to remind me?
Going through them again. I'm rewatching all their stuff for background noise but saved the shitstorms for now. Currently on season 3 shittribution.

At least their stuff is up to watch
never played the remake of re1 and it was pretty good, some puzzles (like the israeliteelry box where you arrange the pieces of glass) were pure garbage, but as a whole i liked it

I'm a bit of a horror pussy but some horror action is my main theme for this month - i've never played cry of fear so that is going to be my first stop. If I finish that in a sensible timeframe I might give another run at alien isolation now i've got some much better headphones so I can properly shit brix.
Might squeeze in another run of RE2R if I feel like it given that can be beaten in a couple hours.
OCTOBER IS FOR THE FOLLOWING
>Carnevil
>Clock Tower
>Cry of Fear
>Dead Rising
>House of the Dead
>Outlast
>RE2
House of the dead
I haven't played that shit in ages
They have HOTD3 at my local barcade and I've wasted far too much money on it
OCTOBER IS ALSO FOR:
House of Velez
Demonophobia
Nanashi no Game
How tf can I play carnevil
double click on the executable.
Need to go back and look at what's changed in World of Horror, only played it very early on.
I'm going to start playing Resident Evil 1 Remake tonight. On the Switch
If I get through it and not get filtered then I can play RE Zero afterwards though I hear that one has some gameplay issues especially with the inventory management.
Aside from those, I might toy around with some junk on itch.io
like most people with good taste i replayed re 4 this year and my god this room looks like garbage in the remake, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
They were thinking about all the money that they were going to get paid by redditors who never played the original.

The unholy Trinity
I'm a newbie zoomies zoom zoom
So I've never played it
Another year went by in a flash
I hate how fast it's going
that's age for you, it's normal.
>It gets even faster at the end
>I'm not even halfway through
Christ...
i've noticed this myself but what's the source?
It's just the way our brains are wired. As you age, you gain more memories and life experiences to reference.
As an example, a powerful memory from a year ago will still remain vivid 5, 10, 20 years from now, but because it had such a big influence, it will always feel recent, despite the amount of time that has passed between when it occured and the present always moving forward.
ok but i wanted the source
thanks
https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/european-review/article/why-the-days-seem-shorter-as-we-get-older/2CB8EC9B0B30537230C7442B826E42F1/core-reader
It's easy to fall for the doomer trap of believing this is entirely because of your brain aging, but environmental factors play into it too. When I was a kid everything felt slow because school was boring, whereas the weekends would blip by in an instant. As an adult, time is going faster because I'm always busy with work. All the elderly people I know spend like half the day sleeping so of course time is going to go by quickly. If you actually sit there and focus on the time, it goes by at the same speed regardless of your age.
>whereas the weekends would blip by in an instant.
that's something different altogether (dopamine makes your internal biological lock move faster), it's not mutually exclusive with
by any means.
*clock
my suggestion is to constantly try new things and avoid being in a habit where days are all played the same.
re2make next for me
Fellas, what horror movies are we watching this month?
check /hor/ on Ganker for that.
sometimes I feel like I already consoomed everything worth watching...
I mean there's really not that many good horror movies in all fairness. Most of it is very disposable cheap gore shit.
sinister is comfy horror
The Return of the Living Dead is a great party movie to pop on with a big group. Goofy cheesiness, genuinely scary moments, great moments, etc. I also had a ton of fun with the early Scream entries last year with some friends. Can't really recommend too much sadly. Don't be the guy to put on Hereditary or some abstract horror shit. Unless you're a weirdo (then more power to you).
its time for kino and for brainlets to be filtered because i know what this movie is actually about, i know what all david lynch movies are about
I'm playing Shadows of the Damned at the moment. Afterwards I might replay Lollipop Chainsaw and RE5, then finish Painkiller on Trauma difficulty and play some Classicvania.
Underworld, Blade, Van Helsing and Return of the living dead.
October or not, I'm replaying OG Dead Space 1 & 2. Not touching the remake. Might touch 3
I'm going to do the same. Been meaning to replay them but other things have got in the way. Thanks for the reminder
Just finished 1 for the first time. I went to unlock the military suit but not sure if I should do another run with it or move onto 2 or maybe try resi 0, using adeck though so not sure how 0 runs.
gonna playthrough all the resident evils games this month

ive played so many horror games but nothing beats fatal frame
My hombre.
Are there even any other survival horror games out there that primarily feature ghosts?
Did you know?
Resident Evil 4 was supposed to feature ghosts too.
One of the early builds, called Biohazard 4: Hallucination, was centered around Leon having hallucinations with all kinds of spooky shit, from dolls coming to life to fricking ghosts.
Would it be a better game if it was released like that?
It could've been interesting as a one off thing for part of a level but I don't know if I would like the entire game to be like that. Though I guess that's pretty much exactly what 8 did.
>ive played so many horror games but nothing beats fatal frame
that series is something i'll need to check out someday. folk horror is tragically rare in survival horror and the girls, despite being flat chested, are very cute.
GoDGames's Blair Witch Trilogy is one of the only cases of folk survival horror i know of, but each is heavily flawed. Vol. 1 had awful backtracking, Vol. 2 had a lack of weapons (only one thats viable) and enemies, Vol. 3 wasted a good arsenal and its combat focus on it just being passive zombies in open environments. if they were given a few more months in the oven they wouldve been awesome.
This, it's my favorite series and I'm long overdue for a replay of the first 2 games.
ghosts just dont do it for me
i need bodyreddithorror to feel anything these days
Where’s the best place to start with that series? I have one of the ones that released on Switch plus the PS2 versions of the older ones.
They look really fun but somehow I’ve never gotten around to them.
Doom II has a good wad that's a mix between Blood and Doom called... Bloom. Not very inventive name, but it is fun.
Question: do anons here prefer to play new scary games in October or ones they’ve played already? Or a mix?

Last few years couldn't even get in the mood because it was still too hot and sunny. Need my bleak gloomy chilly season. Climategaygies need not reply.
im mostly playing deep rock with a buddy between study sessions in the evening
its spooky enough for me, i cant handle horror as well as i once could
i dropped deep rock because my friend would always be a moron and purposefully die in the stupidest ways, fun game though
i know what you mean
my buddy smokes weed when we are playing and just stares at the wall for a few minutes in intervalls but i still have fun with him
we are playing on 2d difficulty so the game isnt too intense anyway
dude if my friend ever smokes weed in a call he'll just be silent the whole time apart from randomly laughing and when asked why he laughed he'd say something along the lines of "the joke was funnier in my head" and then talk about how he feels every hair molecule on his scalp, kek
kek, my homie just says how high he is so i keep joking about how his walls vibrate and the insects come out of them so he laughs
works every time stoners are so simple, love him like my brother
I am going to pick up DBD, restart and finish VTM:R, replay VTM:B with one of new content mods to try it out
The spookiest game of all
Super Mario Wonder.
>cant play horror games because i get too into them
feels bad my dudes
isn't that the whole point of horror games or just video games in general to be immersed?
thats the point, yeah
but i get too scared in the early parts and then never open that game again
I wish they could still scare me. I'm too desensitized and it kind of defeats the purpose when they don't scare you
I tried playing amnesia the dark descent. walked super slow the entire way through the start, super anxious about it. finally see the monster, immediately paused and quit the game. I can't play horror games.
i was broken by the invisible water monster
Try Soma on Safe mode. Or Amnesia Rebirth on adventure mode, which is the same as Soma's safe mode. It makes it so that monsters don't attack you unless you provoke them in some way. May help you get used to horror enough to play Amnesia.
Little Nightmares 1 and 2 also make for good horror games that people who struggle with horror games can play.
I'm gonna play Alan Wake and Control again so I refresh my memory for Alan Wake 2.
>Supporting that poztrash.
At least wait for a discount.
Can anyone recomend some scary Hl mods?
afraid of monsters obv
Can anyone recommend some good and simple lower-fi run and hide horror games that get you into the action quickly?(pls no 'faux ps1 horror games that require you to complete a huge list of mundane chores and shopping for a single scare) I want something fun to play with my gf
I recently started playing total chaos and silent hill 1, so I guess I'll be playing those two?
Abaddon
Guess it will be Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for me. Just beat Richter. I know there is more to the game, I'll keep exploring.
The RE Remakes, Prey (2017), and then probably some indie stuff like Lost in Vivo.
Though lately I've been finding that I'm not really frightened by video games anymore. At best I'm briefly startled when a jumpscare happens, otherwise I just see the monsters as silly videogame enemies. I do still enjoy the aesthetics though.
The shittiest thing about living in socal, other than the cost, is that there aren’t any seasons here. You don’t get autumncomfy here at all and I love that shit.
That sucks man. Autumncomfy is just beginning to settle in where I live and it's the best time of the year.
It really is the best time of year. The Californiagays really don’t understand what they’re missing out on either.
Maybe some day I’ll be able to get out of here.
I think that's just part of getting older, I feel the same way about horror movies but still watch them since they can have an interesting aesthetic and story.
>Though lately I've been finding that I'm not really frightened by video games anymore.
For me, the only kind of games that give me any kind of fear or terror are games like Subnautica or The Outer Wilds. That kind of "natural fear" is rare in games.
You should play some actually GOOD horror games, not some modern zoomer goyslop.
I've played plenty of good ones. I haven't played these and they interest me, so I will.
Post your suggestions if they're so great.

if you want a nice challenge do a no needles run on hard for your second run.
Survival difficulty run on Signalis.
I think Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth also sounds good. I played it way back when but never finished it.
I’m actually just finishing a Code:Veronica run now. It’s not really scary, but it’s a much better game than it gets credit for IMO.
>Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
Really liked the beginning of the game, when it was an adventure with the occasional chase, and then had some slight shooting sequences, where you still had to use stealth because of overwhelming forces and low amount of ammo.
Then it turned into a full-blown shooter. Still a good game.
Samegay here. Should I maybe put Cthulhu: DCotE on the back burner and play Eternal Darkness instead? I booted up the first thirty minutes earlier when I was procrastinating from housework and it seems pretty kino tbh.
Just bought the Vampire Survivors DLC after erasing all my save data. Wish me luck.
ff7 without tifa after midgar
I’m going to listen to this after it gets dark tonight. Don’t care for any of their other LPs, but Black Sabbath is 100% unadulterated October nightime kino.

No, that game is bleh, got any others?
October is my dedicated boomshoot month, so probably a fair bit of that. Suppose I'll start with some Blood expansion I haven't played yet. I know Death Wish is unofficial, but I've heard it's pretty good, so maybe that.
Afterwards, I don't know what I'll play.
Deathwish, supposedly, is better than any of the base content.
I haven't played it either though.
Try Infinity Edged and Winter's Fury if you haven't. Both high quality Doom mods, made by the same guy.

I just finished Amnesia the Bunker. Pretty great. Will replay it once that Shell Shocked difficulty drops.
Other than that I'm probably gonna replay Condemned and play Condemned 2 for the first time, as well as an obscure russian Condemned clone called Traque or The Hunt.
Might also play Dino Crisis for the first time.

Not much on my backlog that's horror, but maybe it's a good excuse to give Pathologic 2 another try.
It's very much worth getting into Pathologic 2.
Oh cool, same for me.
Turns out my memories of it being a "late for work" simulator was accurate.
House of death was scary though.
Perhaps this is the year I finally finish alien: isolation.
Cry of Fear and Silent Hill 1 are the best horror games I have ever played. Honorable mentions to Condemned 1 and FEAR and its expansions.
I have Evil Within, Layers of Fear, and Lost in Vivo on my wishlist. I hope some of them go on sale for big cheap and I hope they're good.
Layers of Fear is a walking sim with horror as a backdrop. There's a single enemy in the game and getting caught by her is more an inconvenience than anything.
Lost in Vivo is very similar to Silent Hill.
I'm gonna play Dead Space and Resident Evil 2 & 4 remake (I already played 3 last year)
Playan: Bloodrayne: terminal cut, Amnesia the bunker and RE4 remake if I have time.
Readin: Something Wicked This Way Comes and I always reread The Raven on Halloween.
Watchin: Return of the Living Dead, Dracula and The Mummy (Karloff) if I have time.
Wish I didn't have to work so much just to cover bills, eats up too much of my time.
>Bloodrayne
something that's been on my radar ever since playing Nocturne. that game has a cool setting but could've been better with more challenging combat and a heavier focus on plot.
>Something Wicked This Way Comes
midwestern horror, i'll need to check this out.
>The Raven
embarassingly i never read any Poe, except for Cask of Amontillado which was required reading at school that i enjoyed.
rn im trying to work on reading Clive Barker's Books of Blood and Thomas Ligotti's Songs of a Dead Dreamer, but im too early into both of them to give a verdict.
Something Wicked This Way Comes is great so far, an easy read but really pulls you in because of how well written it is.
Plus each chapter is only like two or three pages so you can read it really quick, I'll read two or three chapters on one of my 15 minute breaks and it still feels like I'm making progress on the book.
Highly recommend.
How do I stop getting filtered by every Resident Evil before 4?
Which games specifically? OG RE2, 3, and CV are easy once you stop giving a frick about ammo conservation because you realize that the game gives you enough to kill basically every enemy.
REmake is legitimately a hard game and you will do better with it if you have experience playing the other ones first. I have not played the original RE1 since about 2000/2001 so I can’t comment on it.
If you’re a zoomer, don’t fall for the tank controls are le hard meme and use the garbage analog stick controls. Tank controls are very tight once you’re used to them and mastery will let you get around a lot of enemies.
i played 1, 1 remake, and 2, just put on easy if you want more ammo, ink ribbons are not something you need to worry if you are not saving every 30 minutes
I started playing that Voices of the Void game after seeing it posted on Ganker.
It could be better as it feels somewhat boring and uneventful but does a good job at creating a spooky atmosphere and I'm a massive sucker for half-life sounds.
Will probably play it throughout the month

The most unforgettable horror porn game I've ever played. No other game had a bunch of elementary schoolers gangbang a teenage girl against a wall. And the teenage girl loved it. No other game I've played had a 17 year old bishonen guy drink a 14 year old girl's piss and chase her down the hall to rape her, only to wind up getting anally raped by a 32 year old fat man. I still remember the scene where a 16-17 girl was hiding under a bed as her same age best friend was having sex with that same 32 year old fat guy on top. She heard every moan, bed shake and sound. In the wrong end she was discovered under the bed by her friend and made to join. A most terrifying scene was when an unwilling girl relives another girl's sex memories. The girl in the memory consented but the reliving girl didn't. It didn't matter that she was mentally screaming, her body in the memory did all the motions and actions as in history. It's like mind control rape except the victim was fully aware. Another scene the same girl and a friend were almost raped in a magic sex ritual, saved by the girl's older sister, and the backlash made the older sister want to rape her younger sister and friend.
The e-girl in this pic is freakishly lewd and once disguised herself as a teenage girl, fricked a boy until he nearly came, transformed back saying
>You thought you were having sex with a highschooler weren't you? I'm an elementary schooler all along!
And leglocks that boy, forcing him to cum inside her unprotected, when he screams in fear upon learning this. This isn't even getting into the tentacles, the gay sex, the lesbian sex, the incest, the sequel's mother/daughter lesbian scene, etc. The first chapter alone contains lots of lesbian sex scenes with an unavoidable girl jerking off in the bathroom. Truly horror is intrinsically connected with sexuality.
didn't read.
I'm currently playing The Evil Within for the first time, then I'll probably try the sequel

What’s a horror game you’d like to see?
I’d like one where you walk around the bottom of the ocean.
You do that in Soma
Also the game Narcosis
>What’s a horror game you’d like to see?
Phasmophobia meets Ready or Not and GTFO. FPS game. VR crossplay with flat players. Basically a [REC] 2 game, or a video game adaptation of the Evan Royalty SCP series like Overlord and Dollhouse. Dip some of that monster identification horror from phasmophobia into a tactical shooter:
>You ID a threat, you are defenseless in this identification phase unless you luck out and bring the right gear but that'd take inventory space your team could be using to ID a threat faster based on residue and shit
>coldly gear up with the tools you need to go frick it up and dispatch it yourself
>multiplayer coop with 3 other people
>Is a horror game first, tactical shooter second. Bring the appropriate atmosphere, the game should basically look like Resident Evil 7 or GTFO in it's sound and visual design
Honestly these days I don’t play many horror games anymore, last one I really enjoyed was White Day and even that was so-so.
Is Yomawari worth it? Looks kino but I don’t want anything too difficult.

Like 90% of the Yokai are trivial to avoid and you can return home and save at any time.
Bought Madness Returns for jack shit in a Steam Sale and played the HD port of this in preparation. God it's great, I think I'll just drop my Madness Returns playthrough just to play this again.

resident sneedvil.
Really? I'm not a fan of shooters though
Only the nu-REs past 4 are shooters.
RE1-3 are pseudo Metroidvania-like horror adventure games.
To be fair, RE2, 3, and CV really don’t require any kind of ammo conservation except for the really big guns. That doesn’t change the fact that they’re basically point-and-click adventure games about solving puzzles and finding keys to get to the next area but sometimes there are monsters in the way as opposed to just straight up action games.
I played REmake and RE2 and not once did I ever get close to running out of ammo. RE1 in particular was more of annoying ass inventory management game than horror or any other genre for that matter, 50% of the fricking game was me going back to the fricking trunk. And RE2 is just embarrassingly easy.
REmake =/= RE1.
And yes, inventory management, smart planning and conserving ammo/HP items / save items is the key aspect of classic RE games. And the definitive part of real survival-horror games, that the casual horror-shooters been cutting out these past 15 years.
RE1 is even easier though? Don't even have to worry about Crimson Heads for example. Also no, RE1's inventory management goes far enough to the point of extreme annoyance, RE2 didn't have this problem anywhere near as bad.
> smart planning and conserving ammo/HP items / save items
That's the thing, the old games are far too easy and far too generous for that to even be a thing.
probably a lukewarm take but the moment to moment gameplay of the classic RE games fricking sucks and are only interesting because of their obtuse puzzles and the possibility of being scared, enemies are just in the way and you don't have an effective method of removing them from being in the way due to constraining your resources
the main way the game forces a tense atmosphere is the threat of losing progress when you die because doing it again will be tedious, which is right up there with blatant fullscreen jumpscares as cheap methods of horror
re4 strikes a good balance of still being unnerving while also being actually fun to play as well and it was the correct path to take the series, the only problem is they went too far into full-on action in 5 and 6 and needed to pull back, which thankfully they later did with re7 and 8
Common zoom zoom take.
Me and millions of other RE fans love the slow-burn, methodic and planning-heavy approach of classic RE.
If you have trouble "removing" enemies, that's both a massive skill issue, and a very good thing.
RE1-3 are among some of my most replayed games of all times. Talking about 50+ runs per game here. The first playthrough is the most memorable, since you're going in blind and feel vulnerable, where as replays have you grow more guts and try more daring tactics, eventually outright speedrunning the games. And you get AWARDED for it too!
One thing modern games have lost is the balls to properly punish players for playing like a jackass.
i loved the slower gameplay of re2r, my first re. no idea how some frickers beat it in 2 hours. i like gathering resources tho. i still have to try it on hardcore.
i'm super excited to play re1 for the first time. i've been waiting all year for october to play it
i really wanna play the og re2 as well
>One thing modern games have lost is the balls to properly punish players for playing like a jackass.
sometimes i just wanna sit and play a fricking game and it's nice, but more games need to stop relying on autosave and checkpoints. time and a place
>no idea how some frickers beat it in 2 hours.
It's honestly a very easy game. Especially compared to the classics.
>i'm super excited to play re1 for the first time.
Awesome! Hope you have good time with it, and I hope you're planning to play the 1996 original first, no?
I have a friend who started with the RE2R as well.
He came to me asking for "more games like it", and I suggested him the original trilogy. To my positive surprise, he totally fell in love with the very OG-OG RE1, and played it twice in a row.
He later did admit that he can now see why we old fans have a lot to say about the nu-remakes of 2-4.
I highly recommend playing the main series in the release order. The REmake1's experience especially will be tremendously improved if you play the classic trilogy first. Naturally, you shouldn't drop any of them after a mere one or two runs; besides the typical 2 character campaigns, there's plenty of other features cranking up the replay value.
>more games need to stop relying on autosave and checkpoints. time and a place
Exactly. Horror used to be THE genre people played as self-imposed challenges, not to have a laff and drop on a moment's notice.
Now while at it, here's the handy RE 1-3 PC guide pic.
Of course you could just emulate the PS1 originals on the DuckStation or something.
sick thanks for the guide. nah i'm just gonna be a casual and go with re1r since i already bought it.
judging by the sheer replayability of re2r i have a strong feeling the ot will make it's place on my list of replays
it's about time i gave doom a legitimate run.
that sounds pretty fricking cool
>nah i'm just gonna be a casual and go with re1r since i already bought it.
You will be missing out. Big time.
Don't get me wrong, I think that REmake1's a great game, plus it is THE game that started the big remake-lust boom back in the day. But it really was made with the Veteran RE-fans in mind, and changes A LOT of things in order to keep the expert players occupied and surprised. Skip the OGs, and you'll be missing a huge chunk of the REmake's appeal, namely the sweet mind games the devs play on your expectations.
Also, REm1's start is much more constrained compared to OG's. Again, it's a bit of "you should be able to solve this by now" thing, but it makes revisiting it a bit less fun than the 1996 OG, IMO.
>judging by the sheer replayability of re2r ...
You have no idea how much such statement makes an old-gay RE fanboy like me both giggle and cringe.
The absolute BUTCHERING of RE2 demake's replay value is exactly one of the biggest sins of its.
>it's about time i gave doom a legitimate run
I find it mindboggling that there's people who have not played the DooM yet.
But I guess I'm just the odd and old one here.
You sound like a huge homosexual
he sounds like he likes video games
>The absolute BUTCHERING of RE2 demake's replay value is exactly one of the biggest sins of its
no shit. every once in awhile i play a video game that reminds me why i love video games and last year that was re2r. i mean the day i finished leon A i immediately started claire A and beat it in one sitting. interesting to hear it's actually a downgrade in some ways, can't wait to see it for myself.
>namely the sweet mind games the devs play on your expectations
maybe i will do the og instead.
>have not played the DooM yet
i did once, just on an ipod lol. honestly if i hadn't found minecraft in 8th grade, i'd have a lot more old pc games under my belt. i had a laptop, access to tpb and nothing but time back then.
I’ll echo this. I can’t say that I remember what OG RE1 is like, but REmake is far and away the hardest of the classic RE games, even on norma; difficulty. There is a good possibility of just getting your ass kicked if you start with that.
>I can’t say that I remember what OG RE1 is like
In many ways it is harder.
Hence why the remake adds a few new surprises + totally redesigns the puzzles to keep things interesting.
If you've not played the RE1: Director's Cut's (not Dual Shock version, mind you!) Hard / Special / Arranged mode, do give it a shot. That's a proper survival HORROR experience!
I have played the Director’s Cut (don’t remember if it was the dualshock version or not). Around the year 2000 or 2001 lol. Basically I rented RE2 a couple of years after it came out, fell in love with it, and played the shit out of everything RE. Even Gaiden on my purple GBC. Even Survivor.
But I remember seeing REmake in one of the game mags (I think it was actually Nintendo Power lol) and being super hyped for it, I got it right around the launch, and loved it, but it really replaced the OG for me and I haven’t gone back to it since.
RE3 is harder just by the fact that the game is designed around the timed dodge mechanic.
You misunderstand. The gameplay is not the combat, the gameplay is finding the way forward. That’s the fun part.
What are some horror/Halloween themed porn games?
Shag the Hag
check Newgrounds.
Abbadon
Kaerimichi
Sinisistar
Panic Party
Thank you. These look good.
I don't know if I should play the Batman Arkham games or Devil May Cry games
Play both.
I'm not sure those count as horror.
They're Halloweenish, like that one game about trick or treating.
They still fit the season. DMC has a lot of enemies with spooky designs like death scissors, hells/caina, shadow, scarecrows, and the tower in 3 and Mallet Island have a creepy vibe to them. Arkham has things like the scarecrow sections in Aslyum, Man-bat jumpscares and Knight outright taking place during Halloween.
With strokes that broad you could include most games as October material.
Is that a bad thing? Personally I like to spend october playing more than just traditional survival horror games.
It just kinda defeats the point of the occasion, especially bringing it up in a thread about horror games.
I don't think it defeats the point. All that matters is that what you're playing is fun and fits the season to you. Also I didn't think this was a horror game only thread since there's been mentions of things like Castlevania, which isn't a horror series but still has spooky/halloween vibes.
planning on playing Splatterhouse 1-3 and then Deep Fear
Bloodborne and Dusk and whatever other spooky game I have.
Also Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen because it takes me forever for me to finish 1 game.
Any indie game jam horror gems come out recently? I know at least one finished up somewhat recently.
Zombie Army 4 Dead War. Then I might check out Vrising. But in the mean time replay my yearly The Suffering playthrough and probably Condemned Criminal Origins. Zombie Army 4 is awesome by the way. Trilogy is superb as well.
I was going to play Castlevania SOTN, but all those awful Netflix shill threads left a bad taste in my mouth, so I'm been playing Dead Rising 2 instead.
I guess it is time to play Dark Souls 2, the scariest video game. It is so spooky I just have to play it. Let me tell you if there are any horror video games awards to go out for game of the decade in the 2010s it is Dark Souls 2. Not only is it one of the best horror games, it is a runner up for one of the overall greatest games of all time.
Going to play Gregory Horror Show again
>It's October, what spooky games will you play?
Thinking I might do a 2nd playthrough of Control.
Haven't touched it since I no-lifed it after it finally came out on Steam and beat most of it save for the dlc. I remember getting confused as shit with the office-space environment, thinking the MC was annoying, but otherwise having a lot of fun with the shooting, the psionic powers, and the 'not' SCP shenanigans.
these threads are whack, who the frick recommends darkwood and other soijorno garbage? Even Fear and hunger has more interesting horror themes.
Feel free to recommend something instead of whining like a b***h, aislop-kun.
there's that game with a dead body hidden in it, been paying eternal darkness but oooooh the clunkiness
idk man play soiwoods if you want
Ispy spooky mansion
Why did they removed the puzzles and maze like level from resident evil though?
Giving Scorn a shot cus its free on goyimpass
Need to finish that Slenderman game. The Arrival or whatever it’s called. I was about to beat it but that cabin at the end filtered me. Pretty decent game for such a shallow concept.
Need to play SOMA too. It’s been sitting in my backlog for years.
Once I finish Stray then I should be able to focus on Darkwood and Signalis, and eventually Corpse Party
I also wanna watch classic horror movies like Child’s Play and Freddy Krueger and stuff like that
Overall I hope I can enjoy this Spooktober. Last October I got too distracted with life stuff and it went flying right past me. Halloween and Christmas are the two holidays I actually care about
im gonna play through the resident evil series. remakes mainly. should i play code veronica or wait for the remake
Play the PS2/GCN version. You're probably going to be waiting forever for a remake.
I don't know I don't really feel like playing horror games by October. I prefer to play them in summer.
What do you play then?
I'm going to try to play Medieval, Until Dawn, Days Gone, Bloodborne, and the DS Castlevania games.
Retrying Alisa, I play the opening and I left it on standby because I was busy at that time and I forgot about the game until no0w
I head the Director's Cut adds and changes lots of stuff, any big gameplay related change over the original version?
Cultic is a fricking blast. One of the best horror shooters I've played in a long time, very reminiscent of Blood and Dusk. The interlude map just got released for the in-between of chapter 1 and chapter 2, and it's only like 8 dollars on steam.
yeah its kino
Going to give Penumbra a try
Never played this. Heard it has soul though, so I'm going to try it out finally.
prob the full release of Lunacid
i'm scared it's going to be like 60 bucks knowing Experience (despite coming out 1 years ago)
Blood: Fresh Supply, Alan Wake, Control, Alan Wake 2 then Dusk HD when it comes out
ive had the silent hill 2 for the PS2 for years still haven't played it, maybe i'll finally give it a try.
i don't trust bloober with the the remake
>can watch horror movies
>too pussy to play horror games
What the frick is wrong with me.
Because one gives you control of a character experiencing the horror which then transfers over to you. Nothing weird about that.

>Toymaker
Looks odd in a cool way. bought
>TAMASHII
Reminds me of Marrow somewhat, Wishlisted
>Prayer of the Faithless
Looks incredibly autistic, I like that all the art is original and it clearly has passion put into it, but I could always play a real JRPG instead. Also, is this really Halloween material?
>Lost in Vivo
Own but haven't played
>Fran Bow
I remember this coming out but I didn't know it was a horror game..
>D'LIRIUM
Uh
>Dismantled Directors Cut
Kino. Already owned and beat this one.
>CTHON
Cool art but I have a general no-roguelites policy
>Alisa
Looks great, wishlisted, but a bit expensive. Might wait for a sale
>Marrow
Bought this years and years ago but I'm too much of a filthy casual shitter to beat it
>D1896
I still need to finish Mirage of Dragon before I dive back into the Arkhouse rabbit hole
Just beat Boolossus. No matter how many times I fight that fricker, it's still a pain in the ass. Now to get those free blue ghosts once the blackout hits.
Is Ender Lilies horror-like? At least the style makes it look like it is.
Not horror but its a black fantasy gamegiven how grim the background of the Rain is. Pretty fun if a little short.
It's been sitting in my library for a while, just waiting for the right moment to get installed. It's probably now or never.
Amnesia The Bunker has been fun
For me, it is House of Velez
Is this an actually good game or is it just fetish fuel for gorehounds?
100% guro fetish fuel
I'm so tired of this
>spoop
>spooptober
>spoopy
people don't even think anymore they just say the same things for a decade on autopilot
Good thread.
Don't know what it is, but Ganker had some good threads lately actually talking about games and recommending good stuff.
