Huge DQ fan, but I couldn't get into this because the time mechanic triggers my autism.

I heard 2 was more linear.

couldn't be any more linear than the first one

Are you saying it isn't more linear than the first one?

I'm saying it would be hard to be more linear than the first one unless you went out of your way to make each town you went to extravigant in your first playthrough
I only remember one time I wasn't just doing story missions and that was near the end of the game getting the cursed sword

They could make it so the maps were narrow corridors.

I don't like that you need to play the story mode to unlock features in the creation mode.

It was lame that you couldn't bust your friend out in the castle chapter in the second game. It was the first thing I tried right after

How come I never saw Ganker post their builds? Seems like most people just cleared the story mode and abandoned the game right after.

Yep. Played 2 when it came out, just beat 1 last week, actually. What a fricking disappointment DQB1 is. Hardly anything to craft at all and restarting every chapter was mind numbingly boring. I beat it though. There’s really no point in playing DQB1 if you’ve already played 2. It’s just a massive downgrade in every single way. No building tools. No movement tools. No combat tools. You have to restart from scratch like 5 times. Crafting can be a pain.

    If DQB2 is a 9/10, DQB1 is definitely no higher than a 5. 4mdj8w

DB1 desperately needed a PC port because mods could have easily fixed a ton of issues with 1. I used codes with the console version and the game became crazy fun with them. The story mode wasn't all that bad either, better paced than 2 at least. I hated that you restarted every chapter at first but once I got to chapter 4 I warmed up to the idea. Every chapter had you learning something different. Plus anything you unlocked went to the free mode so its not like you got nothing.

      >Chapter 1
Introduction, more of a tutorial chapter
      >Chapter 2
Had you learning about bad status effects like poison and how to treat it
      >Chapter 3
Had you learning about npc's parties and metal shops
      >Chapter 4
Takes all the shit you learned and leave you with nothing for the beginning.

Chapter 4 is when I truly appreciate the story mode in Builders 1.

Game felt like a perpetual tutorial until chapter 4 which was a bit more rail roaded than the last 3 chapters and then it just ends. They shouldve had one or two more chapters that werent complete tutorial fests but I guess people would complain more about the starting over aspect.

God, I remember playing 2. I never played DQ before so DQB2 was my introduction to it.

it was quite literally a journey and fun as frick. makes me sad just thinking about it.

When Rogue Legacy 2 came out last year it was superior to RL1 in every way to the point that the first game is basically just a demo for the second.
