If this is fricking true I'm gonna have to block my recommendations with addons or some shit because youtube is becoming unusable. It's always assuming I'm in certain demographics that I'm clearly not apart of because I never interact with the videos it thinks I would enjoy.
There needs to be some way to switch to just videos relevant to the video you are on because selecting tags for recommendations, is also fricked up and barely works. Searches are now 50% recommendations which, again, is not what you enjoy, only what it thinks the 'demographic' you are in would enjoy.
It basically is. I regularly upload to youtube for my family videos on a private basis, and at this point I'm starting to grow concern that shit is at risk at some point. Like, at any point, that kind of shit is just gonna auto-delete and I'll lose everything. I'm working towards a NAS right now, and barring that, placing everything onto DVD's in some bid to keep all my memories intact. Searching doesn't work, it randomly deletes videos without telling you did it and what that video was, so you constantly lose parts of your list with no idea what it was, nor any chance to try to recover it. Recommended is just algorithmic frickery. The only way to truly recover is to just block all adds, constantly clear your history, and basically give them nothing of value.
If you're having trouble finding stuff I'd recommend using the search tags like 'before:2013' but I'm sure they're gonna find a way to frick that up eventually.

I just watched Northernlion for the first time in years play coop Elden Ring with Gheesling guy from Big Brother just having an extremely mundane but somehow very amusing conversation. They just conversed on an on as they got thrashed by margot without a care in the world until they eventually beat him. I do keep seeing Jerma, Vinesauce, and Northernlion grouped together now. Is there a reason this is happening? Did they all stream together for an event at some point?

They've streamed together once or twice as part of larger events but I think the real reason they're grouped together is just because they're all relatively normal adult guys with good senses of humor which are rare qualities on twitch

If this is fricking true I'm gonna have to block my recommendations with addons or some shit because youtube is becoming unusable. It's always assuming I'm in certain demographics that I'm clearly not apart of because I never interact with the videos it thinks I would enjoy.
There needs to be some way to switch to just videos relevant to the video you are on because selecting tags for recommendations, is also fricked up and barely works. Searches are now 50% recommendations which, again, is not what you enjoy, only what it thinks the 'demographic' you are in would enjoy.
It basically is. I regularly upload to youtube for my family videos on a private basis, and at this point I'm starting to grow concern that shit is at risk at some point. Like, at any point, that kind of shit is just gonna auto-delete and I'll lose everything. I'm working towards a NAS right now, and barring that, placing everything onto DVD's in some bid to keep all my memories intact. Searching doesn't work, it randomly deletes videos without telling you did it and what that video was, so you constantly lose parts of your list with no idea what it was, nor any chance to try to recover it. Recommended is just algorithmic frickery. The only way to truly recover is to just block all adds, constantly clear your history, and basically give them nothing of value.
If you're having trouble finding stuff I'd recommend using the search tags like 'before:2013' but I'm sure they're gonna find a way to frick that up eventually.

YouTube search is a joke. You can search something specific like "build a wheel using only Legos" and after 7-10 videos the results are completely unrelated topics like "top 5 most shocking television deaths". Their entire system is a fricking mess.

You may note that most people in these threads enjoyed Jerma back when he was a youtuber. The less sane ones also watched him as a streamer, and the deranged ones only watched him as a streamer. This is because unlike youtube videos, which encourage you to see someone as an entertainer who provides you a service, streaming encourages the audience to see the streamer as their friend. Anybody, ANYBODY (yes, even you, person with what they think is an objection) who spends hours every day watching somebody else do things with their friends instead of doing things themselves is mentally ill. It is not that streaming makes its fans mentally ill, it's that only mentally ill people are into livestreams.
We shouldn't laugh at these people, we should pity them. Everyone who watches livestreamers to the extent they call themselves a fan should have their family and friends notified to perform a wellness check. It is not a sign of a healthy mind.

STAR_'s solo content was entertaining, but the funny aspect was kind of hit or miss.
What made his content with Jerma so great is they were a classic comedy duo. One of them played the straight man and it was a mixup who was what every time, so they were much better together than alone.
Not to say STAR_ isn't funny by himself but I think when he didn't immediately get the same reaction as when he did duo videos with Jerma, for his solo stuff, he got pissy
