That's pretty misleading. They didn't disband, they just stopped work on XVI and went back to XIV. Only ones who actually disbanded are the likes of the DMC combat director dude.
Nomura won for KH, he didn't participate much in VII:R at all, he just lent them the name.
The director is Toriyama, which is why the game is structured exactly like FFXIII, complete with a crystarium system to story-lock your progress for the sake of balance (the game is still way too easy).
The only mentions of Nomura from either himself or other devs is people saying that he pushed back against making changes to the original.

It’s fun. The ceiling is noticeably lower than dmc 5 and the difficulty of base game is a bit too easy. But it still shares the strengths of it and other character action games by focusing on player expression first and foremost (no elemental weakness, cancels, a bunch of moves to deal with enemies available at any time)
A surprisingly competent character action game that isn’t dmc or bayonetta made by square of all people. If you’re in it for an rpg experience, you’ll rightfully be disappointed.
