Didn't they destroy gear progression with that pseudo open world update? I remember playing after a long hiatus and everything was worse, gear upgrades were near useless and instead of queuing up with a group of 3 others you got dropped in some open area where anyone could join any fight they wanted, making all the fights even more of a cakewalk. Felt like they went from trying to be a monster hunter clone into some weird fast pace arcade game.

they reworked how gear progression works.
you have regular gear and legendary gear.
legendary gear has a special active ability and the ability to bond with non legendary gear of the same element for weapons.
there is something like a maximum powerlevel for gear and armor.
all armor can be pushed to be the same max powerlevel and all weapons can be bonded with a legendary weapon. you can change the bond on the fly.
gearing up is a indeed a cakewalk houever.
within a week or so of playing i maxed out all escalation skill trees, got 3 or so legendary weapons of every type and had two fully maxed armor sets for every occaison with the proper skillshards.
i perfer this new way of gearing up because i can jump in on any open world island and just hunt the one monster i wanna farm over and over.
escalations also are a lot of fun. they are a sort of dungeon that you can run and level up a skill tree with. after every encounter you can choose an escalation perk that you keep for the rest of the run. those range from getting damage to you applied as damage over time to fun things such as immense damage boosts when you break a part or wound an enemy for a sort time.
every once in awhile some for hire russian/chinese botnet group advertises their product by bringing down gaming services during peak hours or near christmas when alot of people would be playing. It's probably the chinks because they targeted Diablo 4 for 2 days in a row now and only slants give a shit about that game.

Linux is incredibly easy if you don't jump in trying to install Slackware like a psycho. Just install Mint or any *buntu distro and you'll be up and running in literally 20 minutes. Plus most games run just fine on Linux. The only ones that don't are spyware-riddled anyway.

no, but recently I started adding a lot more for keeping a shorthand list of stuff I’ve played recently
if it doesn’t support overlay since it’s not guaranteed every older game will or if i don’t feel like it for a weird reason then i won’t bother
any game i want to play with a controller is worth it though since letting steam handle the drivers is good
