The Switch is a little stronger than the Wii U, which was a smidge stronger than the PS3/360. I can understand it's not like gonna be leaps and bounds but holy frick the incompetency.

Switch is closer to 2x the power of the WiiU, it's more powerful when in handheld mode by a fair margin and docked it's around double that, the ports would just be bad, remember Skyward Sword a game designed to run on more powerful hardware runs at a rock sold 1080p @60fps.
A small memory overclock will probably lock it to 60fps too, Switch is bottlenecked hard by it's slow ram.

3ds port ran like shit too, and had some downgrades but also some upgrades like new shaders. everything else in the collection is emulated, MGS2 & 3 are ports of the HD Collection. but it seems whoever is doing the porting process is clearly not very experienced with the work; considering it seems to be in-house Konami employees, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't

It's always mismanagement and incompetence/inexperience. Silent Hill HD happened because they had unfinished sources and Konami being b***hy about voice actors, so a team that was way in over their heads had to improvise out the wazoo on top of their personal ideas of how to improve things and skullfricked the collection. Hell, even the original MGS HD Collection had visual issues and missing content, but most cases weren't so egregious that it destroyed the collection for most people, even though there are a couple really bad cases in them.
porting can be fricking hard when on a budget and a deadline. but my guess is the team here are not only having to port something so complex for the first time, but also have to make tweaks because of the video footage alterations being necessary for the stock footage bits, among other things. so they're probably way in over their heads.

I checked NUMEROUS times over the years, even typing the name in (which is how I got half of the Final Fantasy games, as well as the second Gex game, among others), because the store is bugged. It was never available. It was the VR Missions expansion (which of course, is just 300 extra VR missions, not the real Metal Gear Solid 1).
Maybe it was removed due to Sony's shenanigans. We all remember that the Tomba 2 version that was on PSN, that had the entire game in Japanese, and it was big news when the English version was released, all because it initially had issues.

You legitimately do not know how visuals, differences in lighting/shading, contrast or anything work. That's not the Switch being visually downgraded; in fact, there's MORE detail on the Switch because of less bloom and less FXAA stairstepping. Hell, you can even see more detail on the ground beneath them. The visual "anomaly" is fundamentally the slightest hint of different lighting variance since they're reacting in real-time, not actual texture differences.

Anon, upping the resolution from 720p to 1080p is more demanding than increasing polygons. The Switch isn't really a powerhouse so they had to compromise somewhere.
It's the reason some games can run maxed at 720p on a potato PC, but run like shit in 1080p even with everything on low.
Nightdive only gets by because of already existing fan mods and the Kex guy, who is quite literally the only programmer/developer they have at their company. As we've seen with how much they struggled with trying to finish the System Shock 1 remake, they're not exactly equipped to handle anything that takes more than a few minutes to port. Absolutely no way they could ever handle Rockstar code.

I also want a Switch 2, but this specific case has nothing to do with the hardware. Konami is being Konami and did a shitty port job, there's no fricking excuse for the new ports to not at least be 1080p / 60 fps. The PS5/XSX versions in particular should be running at 4K, but they're arbitrarily locked to 720p.

I remember playing Peace Walker HD on 360 at the Comic Con before it was released and it had a 20 FPS cap and used the bumpers for aiming/shooting. The final release was thankfully not like that, but the fact that 720p is confirmed for all versions makes it seem like this version will be just as bad in the final build.

Switch 2 is ready, but their big Mario GTA clone needs more time in the oven. Super Mario Switch and Run will launch with Super Switch. Mario Odyssey physics on foot and Mario kart physics in vehicle.
The trailer opens with like the GTA leak, but its peach sashaying across the street. She pulls out her phone etc call Mario before going on a rampage...but the gunplay is with squirt guns and feels like splatoon, so it feels less dark.
All Nintendo titles are playable in the game world. The world will be full of activities, kart races, golfing, tennis , etc. They act as a free demo for the full game you can purchase and then play more of in the game world. The game world is dynamic, when a new Wario ware game gets released, the game actually builds the wario ware building in the world during the lead up to launch and opens the doors when the game releases. Everyone has access to the first floor but you pay more for more content. The game has skins/outfits for player characters that can be exchanged for in game gold coins that you can spend real money to acquire.

3ds port ran like shit too, and had some downgrades but also some upgrades like new shaders. everything else in the collection is emulated, MGS2 & 3 are ports of the HD Collection. but it seems whoever is doing the porting process is clearly not very experienced with the work; considering it seems to be in-house Konami employees, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't

It's always mismanagement and incompetence/inexperience. Silent Hill HD happened because they had unfinished sources and Konami being b***hy about voice actors, so a team that was way in over their heads had to improvise out the wazoo on top of their personal ideas of how to improve things and skullfricked the collection. Hell, even the original MGS HD Collection had visual issues and missing content, but most cases weren't so egregious that it destroyed the collection for most people, even though there are a couple really bad cases in them.
porting can be fricking hard when on a budget and a deadline. but my guess is the team here are not only having to port something so complex for the first time, but also have to make tweaks because of the video footage alterations being necessary for the stock footage bits, among other things. so they're probably way in over their heads.

That's not the Switch being visually downgraded; in fact, there's MORE detail on the Switch because of less bloom and less FXAA stairstepping. Hell, you can even see more detail on the ground beneath them. The visual "anomaly" is fundamentally the slightest hint of different lighting variance since they're reacting in real-time, not actual texture differences.

I have no faith in the MGS3 remake. Using the og source file voices, Konami has been heavily interested in pachinko gaming instead of regular gaming and now they can't even port a simple ps2 game on to the switch when the switch itself mogs 6th gen consoles on tech alone. Hope Konami burns and it sells to someone with real coders.

Considering RDR, which is a PS360 game, runs with a higher frame rate and resolutions on switch, I'll blame this one on Konami being moronic
Switch 2 is ready, but their big Mario GTA clone needs more time in the oven. Super Mario Switch and Run will launch with Super Switch. Mario Odyssey physics on foot and Mario kart physics in vehicle.
The trailer opens with like the GTA leak, but its peach sashaying across the street. She pulls out her phone etc call Mario before going on a rampage...but the gunplay is with squirt guns and feels like splatoon, so it feels less dark.
All Nintendo titles are playable in the game world. The world will be full of activities, kart races, golfing, tennis , etc. They act as a free demo for the full game you can purchase and then play more of in the game world. The game world is dynamic, when a new Wario ware game gets released, the game actually builds the wario ware building in the world during the lead up to launch and opens the doors when the game releases. Everyone has access to the first floor but you pay more for more content. The game has skins/outfits for player characters that can be exchanged for in game gold coins that you can spend real money to acquire.
