I believe it's been like that for at least a year. This is why I wouldn't be too worried about denuvo, indie and smaller game devs will never use it because of the pricing. None of them can afford $300k per year + taxes, let alone giving them a cut of their revenue.
Its a big financial commitment to spend that much for even a year of protection. A million isn't a huge amount for the biggest publishers but continually paying that, in addition to other games will rack up quite quick. Imagine something like SEGA having ten or so subscriptions per year for titles that have their sales basically die after a month. If they make 100 million from those games, ten percent of the earnings/profit is immediately sunk into their DRM protection. At what point do they say "frick it" and end the subscription?

SEGA puts it on in the first place because of inter-regional meddling, i.e. Sonic Mania had Denuvo against Mania Team's wishes because of Sega of Europe.

If Nintendo goes through with this, they will have to seriously focus on putting out modern hardware. If their first party games run at 15-20 FPS on the actual hardware now, they wouldn't run at all with Denuvo in the mix. I think Nintendo is way too cheap to invest in robust specs.

I believe it's been like that for at least a year. This is why I wouldn't be too worried about denuvo, indie and smaller game devs will never use it because of the pricing. None of them can afford $300k per year + taxes, let alone giving them a cut of their revenue.
Its a big financial commitment to spend that much for even a year of protection. A million isn't a huge amount for the biggest publishers but continually paying that, in addition to other games will rack up quite quick. Imagine something like SEGA having ten or so subscriptions per year for titles that have their sales basically die after a month. If they make 100 million from those games, ten percent of the earnings/profit is immediately sunk into their DRM protection. At what point do they say "frick it" and end the subscription?
