the fricking demo having over 45 minutes of cutscenes in a 2 hour long demo (and that's not including the walking shit) cued me in to that. I don't preorder because I'm not moronic, but I did enjoy that the game had a demo. The gameplay was pretty enjoyable, until the back half of it where everything was just a sponge and the only reason to do ANYTHING was to break them/stagger them, then you just shit out damage, and repeat. It's ff13 all over again.

X is not THAT long of a game, like 20-25? 13 though, holy FRICK 13 is full of cutscenes and its especially frontloaded. The first 10-15 hours of that game feel like a tutorial.
I am a 13 defender (sorta) and yeah the first 2 chapters of the game are GOD AWFUL, I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking the game is shit if they couldn't make it past that. You fight the same 2 dogs and soldiers with only 2 command options, and you get literally NOTHING from it; no gil, no xp, no items. And you don't get the crystarium or paradigm system till ch.3, so you're basically just walking down a hallway and watching a movie for 2 hours because the combat is requires no input till ch.3 and doesn't actually get interesting till ch.9

On one hand I agree with them. Square Enix is trying to hard to appeal to the west and quite frankly it will suceed and the franchise will be locked into this for another 40 years. On the other hand it's their fault for spending all their money on gacha trash and Nintendo games. Nintendo games are fun but they shouldn't be surprised that developers are looking elsewhere when their home country isn't buying their games anymore. It seems like if a game isn't on a phone or the Switch the Japanese don't give it a seperate thought.
