Also any game where you're playing a super hero is going to tend towards easier mechanics wise, allowing you to do cool stuff without having to be an absolute master. Sure, you can play on the hardest difficulty levels and decide you're going to use a myriad of likely/legitimate attacks for a given situation, but they don't want to make that REQUIRED to beat up an average street mook. Same with Batman etc. Spiderman does a pretty impressive job of getting the "feel" of both the web swinging (now that tech has come along enough to make it possible, give you momentum, open world as well as more focused areas etc etc) and the combat options which is nice. Spiderman's stealth feeling different than Batman's for instance is another reasonable mechanic.
Of course, I want to see it all advance for Spiderman 2 when it arrives, but I'm quite pissed that its not concurrently released on PC. Spider Man Remastered and Miles Morales both sold well on Steam, so there is ZERO fricking reason for the sequel to debut there except sony pony exclusivity bullshit. Frick that sideways. Also, Spider-Man Remastered had expansion ast least now that I think of it 3 - chapters that expanded stuff and got your some Black cat and Silver Sable as well as more advanced combat (though I do wish there would have been more choices or branching mission options, secrets etc). Miles Morales had fricking NO expansions or content patches? Frick that shit. Hope SM2 offers more content especailly if we have to wait on PC.

What's less reasonable is the stealth being COMPLETELY braindead. The AI doesn't even try to reveal you and the game has to magically alert enemies of your presence if you eliminate too many of them without being noticed.

Batman combat has been fun ever since the second game provided you're aiming for max points, which forces you to use every tool available to you rather than just spamming hits and counters all day. Yes, you can win fights in brain-dead ways, but the combat actually becomes fun once you aim for score.
>Everything is automated
Literally isn't, the game doesn't even have the Batman ice skating where you just hit the button and the game will take your character to your enemy for you. If you want to close gaps, you need to use the gap closer moves, you can't just mash melee attack.
>Literally isn’t
Why are you lying? The web swinging is specifically coded to be as automated as it can so every casual player can feel like they are guiding Spider-Man right, you have to actually force your hand to get swinging wrong. It isn’t like Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man where the swinging is only as good as work yourself to be.

why do they know he's a homie? is his identity not secret anymore? only played the first game.
I always thought the mask made it so anyone could see themselves in Spider-Man, that was part of the point. he struggled with shit regular people struggle with. black kid could see himself in Peter, white kid could see himself in Miles, they transcend petty north-american racial conflict.
guess not, guess Miles is "the black spider-man".
Miles spent months of training looking like this so they know he's mixed at the very least, and you can see his fingertips in his improvised hoodie outfit at the start of his game which is also his Twitter header image. The ending of Miles has Miles going to the Roxxon reactor and absorbing all its energy before Phin takes him into the sky to explode, and then he lands on the ground without his mask. Gloria (The lesbian homeless chick Pete saves and sends to FEAST), the artist from the start of the game making the Spider-Man mural, best deaf girl Miles is dating, and a few other people see him when he lands while his mom and Ganke try making him wake up. Then when the news comes they cover for him and he zips away so a small chunk of Harlem knows who he is ans is covering for him.
> They made arachnid rider and a literal toku skin but somehow that version of the spider armor is the closest I can get to looking like a kamen rider.
I still don't get how the STRIKE Suit is supposed to be inspired by The First/Next because outside of the popped collar I'm not seeing it. I can see the Guyver/Rider influence in the Arachnid-Rider suit. The Tokusatsu Suit is also blatantly Lord Drakkon-inspired so I can at least see that one.
>outside of the popped collar I'm not seeing it
the bottom of the mask has the edges meant to be reminiscent of the suits, plus the spider looks like the scarf.
The thing with these toku inspired suits is that they have too much padded/armored bits that seamlessly flow into the suit compared to how armor is usually done, specially in Rider.

>plus the spider looks like the scarf.
I genuinely didn't even notice that it looked like a tie/tied scarf until you pointed it out. I guess you're right with the helmet but when it comes to that type of helmet I think Zi-O more than The First/Next.
Peter Toku suit is way too fricking bright. I like the design but never wore the suit in-game because it's brighter than literally anything else on screen at any time.

I decided to wear it all of my Remastered playthrough and I gotta admit, going to the darker or more realistically shaded suits felt wrong after a couple of hours. Even the cartoon suit felt super wrong and I loved using that thing on my PS4 run. The suit itself pops so much and sticks out so well I loved wearing it. The only thing that convinced me to swap was the Mk 1 Armor just because of the raytracing which looked amazing on it.

Hey, I wore like over a dozen suits in my original playthroughs of the original and Miles. NG+ is usually single suit, I did Raimi Spider-Man on my NG+ of the original and the jacket outfit on Miles. Now I'm doing Arachnid-Rider on Remastered and ITSV until I unlocked STRIKE and now it's just STRIKE on Miles.
He's telling Spider-Boy to piss off because he just finished sinking his teeth into a man's flesh. Have you never seen the trope of >Young sidekick does something bad or puts themself in danger >Older figure goes "heh, I fight alone kid..." to make them buzz off
You need to read more often, my friend.

Actually, what made Peter reach this conclusion was Norman Osborn giving him a lecture on responsibility.
Yeah.
Still, Spider-Boy has potential as long as the commentary on botched legacies continues, Bailey is kept safe from Spider-Verse, is rightfully treated as a literal who, and eventually outgrows the sidekick phase. I can't believe Slott has more finesse introducing a new character than Bendis. Fricking Alpha's writer.

Alpha's story was low-brow and dripping with the trademark Slott spite, Bailey reads like a genuine character so far. One could argue it's for royalty purposes, but still, anything that highlights the stupidity of Spider-Man for the last decade is a net positive.

Ramos I remember more from the 2010's, but only because he was on the worst of the worst fricking stories. A lot of the bottom two rows of artists here
>I always hated the spider web armpit hair suit design, it looks dumb
Almost all spider-man artists seem to agree, since after Ditko it was either shrunk down or removed entirely.
were just getting shuffled around on the blandest of stories post OMD
Ganker has always supported white men with asian women. Or white men with latina women. Or white men with furry women, alien women, undead women, eldritch-abomination women, dragon women...
I sure love Spider-Man for his "gliding abilities"; for frick's sake, there is a reason his web gliders faded away from the comics, it was redundant and very few writers even remembered they were supposed to help Peter out, web swinging without them became Spider-Man's most standard image.
I am shocked that the Spiderman game got such good reviews. It is repetitive as frick with some of the worst, most generic, soulless open world design I've ever seen. Nothing but doing recycled side content over and over to get meaningless tokens so you can upgrade gadgets and get suits. The combat has virtually no depth, with each enemy having one thing you can do to counter it, and everything else is just mashing one button and dodging when it tells you to. Swinging feels nice, I suppose, but swinging where? To do what? You're just following map icons. The story is super basic and MJ is a huge b***h. I don't think the game is, ya know, Forspoken levels of bad but the game is the very definition of something like a 6/10 probably bumped to a 7/10 if you REALLY like Spooderman.
The only thing I can assume is that when the game initially came out on the PS4 the open world genre hadn't been as beaten to death as it is now, but having played it when it came to PC I was surprised at how basic and simple the design of the game was. Perhaps the sequel will do more to create something that is memorable.
>I am shocked that the Spiderman game got such good reviews
I'm shocked 90% of slop that comes out today gets good reviews, Spider-Man 3 and PS4 Spider-Man are essentially the same game with different graphics and the first one got RAVAGED on release, I guess publishers realized just bribing everyone and astroturfing public opinion online is much cheaper and easier than making good games. Standards have fallen so so much.
That's the standard for Sony releases, but I must admit I was flabbergasted at just how bad this was. Maybe it's just my love for Treyarch Spider-Man speaking and general avoidance of AAA trash since Bioshock Infinite, but holy shit, the footprints for a solid game were laid bare for them multiple times and instead they just shit out this naughty dogfied bamham abomination.

TASM2 would be a better comparison.
Ganker doesn't read comics.
If you read comics, you wouldn't care about this game. And I won't even tell you where you're wrong with this gotcha attempt, enjoy.
>It's a competent open world game that has Spiderman. That's all that people aak for really. It's like Arkham City but Spiderman.
Didn't work for Spider-Man 3 or TASM1 and 2
Replayed Knight recently, after playing through the Spider-Man game last month, and man, Spider-Man has no fricking soul compared to Knight. Knight isn't my favourite Arkham game, and it does have a decent amount of problems (such as locking the true ending behind collecting like 300 fricking Riddler riddles) but you can still feel the immense love and passion of the source material the devs poured into it. Like how you can talk to every single person in the GCPD and they'll have new lines after EVERY major event happening in the story. The world's full of references and little nods, many of which are Riddler related but many of them just being cool random stuff. The designs of the characters are all excellent, everyone looks and sounds like they should, unlike Sony-Man, which went for the most boring, MCU movie-like look possible. And while the Knight plot twist is terrible and the World's Greatest Detective not figuring out that it was Jason is absurd, something I can only explain with Batman going schizo, the writing is still better and more interesting than Spider-Man's, with the game having some very high highs.
this is why I dont't get why people keep referencing batman in these threads. It is not the same, the arkham games have this unique atmosphere about them as well as the world feel wholly unique to itself. I do not feel that when playing spider-man.
There's a lot of smaller things that are similar that add up.
It has the same button combination for doing instant take downs, it has the mechanic where you build meter faster if you hit the attack button just as your attack lands, combat has a similar focus on crowd control, Spider-Man's combat music near the end of the game sounds similar toward Batman's, Spidey has detective vision (although I guess every single modern open world game has to have that), you have a supporting cast that always radios-in multiple times during every mission (this one really isn't unique to Arkham but combined with the other stuff it does make them feel similar) that you don't get to see that often in-person (difference being that in Arkham Batman gives orders, while in Spider-Man Peter takes them) stealth basically works identical except Spider-Man's is simpler, leveling up works the same in both games, and there's definitely more but these are the first ones that come to my mind.
I think a lot of it comes from Insomniac following the overall design philosophy of Beenox's TASM games, which in turn borrowed heavily from the Arkham games, a lot more so than PS4 Spider-Man does.
I have no idea what you're talking about. >Twitter comments on EVERYTHING that changes during the game, if you change outfits, if you swing a garbage can around, if you do side quests, if JJJ wants to complain, if the Daily Bugle updated, has random complaints and banter from people, and more.
You literally see character development for Gloria with her going from hating life and having no hope, to thanking Spidey for sending her to FEAST, to realizing there's more to life, and ultimately ending on her becoming a manager. You see PhilChang developing his AI and eventually getting hired by Roxxon which is still talked about within Miles' Twitter. You see random arguments from the first game about Canadian storm powers still talked about in Miles' Twitter. You even see Eddie the garbage man complaining about people throwing trash out into the street regularly. >Random civvies talking to each other on the street update their dialogue based on where you are in the story. >Every single time you go to FEAST every single person there has new dialogue, particularly the Asian people playing chess. >Otto's entire lab changes drastically every single time you visit with new whiteboard drawings, you can see him working on the Sinister Six equipment, you can see his plans for the RAFT attack, etc. >There's like 50+ areas from comics scattered around the map. >Virtually every single collectible is a call back to the comics or world building (Like establishing he fought Sandman and Matt knows Peter is Spidey already). >The Stan Lee cameo which has a statue for him in Miles outside of the same restaurant. >You can find Uncle Ben's grave in the graveyard and when May dies she's buried right next to him. >If you play the JP dub the Holo-Drone says the "Emissary of Hell" line.
That's not even everything, just what I can quickly thing of. You're just being massively biased for the Arkham series and ignoring everything with Spidey for no reason.
>just let your family die bro
Ganker here with your reminder that Miles is the one true Spider-man who will never give up
Also we will beat Mario at the box office
I ended up beating the game in about 9 hours while it took me around 24 hours to beat the first Spiderman. I the main thing I dislike from both games is that you just fight so many waves of enemies after enemies in both story and side missions. Miles does tone it done a lot though but I think Peter is much more satisfying play at higher levels since he has a lot of one hit kill combos
I don't like the pointy bits on the belt and there is too much blue on the legs and not enough red, reminds me of the spider UK suit. It's fine besides that then.
the white is ugly as frick, still stand by this.
i agree but seeing the web wings with it, makes it look less bad
play miles then daquan

I could live with the white if there were no blue, and vice versa. Having yet another hero with a red white and blue color scheme is also boring.
Wrong
I hope Miles has his new Spider-Verse suit in the game.
for me its pic related
This suit is cool but I think it's a little too pink, if they put it in the game they should make it more red
>This suit is cool
It really isn't.
It's homosexual as all hell. Frankly it's worrisome that they gave Miles an effeminate suit like that.
Miles is queer and proud
I'd be more concerned about his effeminate behavior, the suit is just the icing on the fruit cake.
The swinging is awful anyway.

The 3rd and second are both John Romita Jr yeah, his art style changed a lot over time

Damn
The only thing that convinced me to swap was the Mk 1 Armor just because of the raytracing which looked amazing on it.
>moose wears a single armor set for an entire playthrough
Hey, I wore like over a dozen suits in my original playthroughs of the original and Miles. NG+ is usually single suit, I did Raimi Spider-Man on my NG+ of the original and the jacket outfit on Miles. Now I'm doing Arachnid-Rider on Remastered and ITSV until I unlocked STRIKE and now it's just STRIKE on Miles.
Hey babe 😉
Frick me, they added the Aaron Aikman suit?
I'm glad somebody at Insomniac has taste. Best alternate-Spider outfit.
who is that looking at spidey
A plotline that will never be resolved.
Yeah, it's in the third DLC of the first game for beating the first story mission.
>crime in progress
every time
Anyone know what texture is this in the game's files? I want to mod in something else. I dl'ed the Better Days mod but I cant read all those numbers
>crime in progress
>crime in progress
Why do people pretend Spider-Man needs a sidekick
Why do white people feel so thretened by the presence of a strong Black male?
Spider-Man wouldn't need a sidekick regardless of race and species
>Using a panel directly after Spider-Boy just chomped on a baddie's neck with his fangs to say "Spider-Man doesn't need a sidekick"
Really?
Can't you read?
>there's no world--there never was--or ever will be where I have a kid sidekick
Call him Han because he's flying solo
He's telling Spider-Boy to piss off because he just finished sinking his teeth into a man's flesh. Have you never seen the trope of
>Young sidekick does something bad or puts themself in danger
>Older figure goes "heh, I fight alone kid..." to make them buzz off
You need to read more often, my friend.
That's not what happens
Actually, what made Peter reach this conclusion was Norman Osborn giving him a lecture on responsibility.
Yeah.
Still, Spider-Boy has potential as long as the commentary on botched legacies continues, Bailey is kept safe from Spider-Verse, is rightfully treated as a literal who, and eventually outgrows the sidekick phase. I can't believe Slott has more finesse introducing a new character than Bendis. Fricking Alpha's writer.
>Fricking Alpha's writer.
I mean Alpha was completely self aware and shitting on concepts like Miles years before Miles was even made, Bailey is just Alpha 2.0 and continues the shittering
Alpha's story was low-brow and dripping with the trademark Slott spite, Bailey reads like a genuine character so far. One could argue it's for royalty purposes, but still, anything that highlights the stupidity of Spider-Man for the last decade is a net positive.
>I mean Alpha was completely self aware and shitting on concepts like Miles years before Miles was even made
What? Miles was around a year before him and Alpha is fricking terrible, too.
>What? Miles was around a year before him
Oh wow he really was, I guess I heavily associate Ramos' style with the 00s so the two got confused in my memory
Ramos I remember more from the 2010's, but only because he was on the worst of the worst fricking stories. A lot of the bottom two rows of artists here
were just getting shuffled around on the blandest of stories post OMD
Looks like a homosexual. DON'T "FIX" IT, SONYA!
Just bring this skin back and we won't have to wear the ugly as sin white spider trash.
what the frick happened to his proportions it looks awful
That's how Peter B's upper torso looks like.
Insomniac made Spider-Man a deformed mutant with elderly posture.
>Ganker now encourages interracial relationships
what happened to this board..
Ganker has always supported white men with asian women. Or white men with latina women. Or white men with furry women, alien women, undead women, eldritch-abomination women, dragon women...
Sam Raimi suit would be perfect if the silver web was matte instead of like a LED strip.
I guess the wingsuit is a solution if they don't want to spend time fixing the swinging mechanics.
Ganker doesn't read comics.
Can Miguel get his web cape now too?
I sure love Spider-Man for his "gliding abilities"; for frick's sake, there is a reason his web gliders faded away from the comics, it was redundant and very few writers even remembered they were supposed to help Peter out, web swinging without them became Spider-Man's most standard image.
I want to play as Peni.
I really hope we get the Rami suit back
There's no way they would take it out, right?
So am I just gonna have to deal with fricking Miles sucking up airtime in every fricking spidey piece of entertainment from now on.
So Pete can glide as well?
I don't like the gliding, I feel like it will take away from the swinging
If you read comics, you wouldn't care about this game. And I won't even tell you where you're wrong with this gotcha attempt, enjoy.
Get mad.
Read a book, poser.
Get mad.
It's a competent open world game that has Spiderman. That's all that people aak for really. It's like Arkham City but Spiderman.
I played the game and I can't remember shit about what actually happens though.
Then it's not competent, is it?
It is. Competent doesn't mean good or great.
>It's a competent open world game that has Spiderman. That's all that people aak for really. It's like Arkham City but Spiderman.
Didn't work for Spider-Man 3 or TASM1 and 2
Movie tie in games are usually the opposite of competent.
Why no X-Men game?
Because Disney wants to pretend it doesn't exist and Insomniac is working on a Wolverine game most likely set in the same universe.
Kinda off topic but I wish we’d get a fantastic four game with the Arkham/spider man ps4 treatment
That genuinely looks fricking awful
It's because the gameplay is somewhat similar if you're comparing Arkham City to Spiderman. It's not the same, but close enough.
I love the police station
HOWEVER
They didn't include Harvey Bullock or Montoya which is criminal, especially considering Bullock was in Origins.
>Spider-Black person
No thank you.
>just let your family die bro
Ganker here with your reminder that Miles is the one true Spider-man who will never give up
Also we will beat Mario at the box office
>Ganker he-ACK!
Is Mile's game good? It's 34 bucks on steam
It's a stand alone DLC. That alone should tell you that 34 bucks is too much. I'd suggest that you do like black lives matter does and just pirate it.
I ended up beating the game in about 9 hours while it took me around 24 hours to beat the first Spiderman. I the main thing I dislike from both games is that you just fight so many waves of enemies after enemies in both story and side missions. Miles does tone it done a lot though but I think Peter is much more satisfying play at higher levels since he has a lot of one hit kill combos
why do they have a chinese grandma in the office?
semen wings
I don't like the pointy bits on the belt and there is too much blue on the legs and not enough red, reminds me of the spider UK suit. It's fine besides that then.
