Calm down homosexual.
It's objectively a bad game memed and played by troon and people that likes to eat shit.
You're just a mentally ill homosexual or a payed shill for a game that on paper looks interesting, has a "good" presentation but in reality it's just a failure, a missed opportunity. It should be taken as an example of how to not make a videogame.
Because it's a game that is not well designed. It has basically any possible problems. >It's unintuitive >Has shitty controls >The lore is very unclear or not well told other than through wiki, and it is not acceptable. >Is poorly optimized >Too punishing. It literally want's the player to stop playing (yes it's a bad thing)

It has unusual and unique controls that are tough to get used to by other platformer standards, however, they allow for very good control of the slugcat. >The lore is very unclear or not well told other than through wiki, and it is not acceptable.
The lore is meant to be explored over a long time by doing stupid and annoying tasks. It's supposed to be hard to figure out and you shouldn't expect for it to be handed to you >Is poorly optimized
Now that I think about it, this game is extremely well optimized for how many creatures it has to keep track of while almost never lagging >Too punishing
Not a flaw >It literally want's the player to stop playing (yes it's a bad thing)
I don't understand how it would. It's not like you gain something in game by not playing it. I also don't know why that would be a bad thing. Incremental games often have such mechanics and it's certainly not a bad thing there. >the list goes on.
I like how you didn't mention a single actually reasonable complaint, such as bad camera placements and illogical room transitions or lack of them in specific areas. I can't tell if you've even went to a different region.

It could have the most "unique" movement in any game but if it doesn't work... it doesn't work and it's a bad thing.
Here a game with unique control that works better lol

That's why it's the first thing everyone complains about?
I don't know what you mean by showing me that but thanks btw, now i want to play forza
It's not a difficult game. It only feels like shit because you are shit at the game. It's not hard to learn the controls either. A game that's not intuitive is not necessarily bad especially when part of the game is figuring out what it wants from you and how to accomplish that. It wants you to learn the game and not play it with your preconceived notions of how the game would work. If you don't feel like learning how the game works then that's on you. This kind of complaint only sticks when the games gives you no indication on what works and what does not. It does not apply here. You have visual and auditory feedback on nearly action you can take.
The movement does work and is part of the gameplay. With conventional movement the game would be completely uninteresting to play. From trivializing traversal of a hostile world not designed for the player or making every encounter or hazard avoidable at little cost. The game is balanced around the clumsy slugcat. Without the physicality of the movement the game would turn into a press left to progress game. It would be like removing vehicle physics from a racing game.
>It's not a difficult game. It only feels like shit because you are shit at the game
No, it's because the game it's shit and if I have to be begged on the knees for keeping playing a fricking video game then know this is the exact proof that it's not a good game that doesn't work and has a decelebrated fanbase.

Different people prefer playing games differently. I can easily imagine someone not wanting to waste an hour wondering where the frick to go to progress the game. If you want to go back to your book analogy, imagine having to read the same chapter 5 times, only to find out you accidentally missed a paragraph before you can move on to the next chapter of the book.

I have genuinely had to do that with certain books. Though it's not the reason I read them, I don't mind struggling a little. I do agree that different people have different preferences though and I think the Monk solves a lot for some people. Perhaps the devs could extend the helper's guidance for those who crave more linearity - at least then people could have exploration as an option. It's not something I would want but I could see it working for some people. Personally, I love not knowing where the frick I'm going, it makes the exploration feel more real rather than a linear sequence of experiences. Some of my most memorable moments were when I got completely lost.

Imagine being THIS bad at games. Imagine going through life blaming everything else for your incompetency. If you can't even beat a straightforward game then you must struggle in all other facets of your life. Christ even my gf beat this game and not once did she complain. At worst you get mogged by a screen transition but that's a minor complain compared to a world that feels genuinely alive.

Well put but you are wasting your time arguing with autists who can't even beat a relatively easy videogame. I'd love to discuss RW lore in these threads sometime without them getting shit up by casuals.
>It's unintuitive
Only in some aspects. I would agree that it can be con mostly having to do with the rain meter and that it's a bit too shy in giving the player information about anything but it's no big deal tbh and some would even say it would be better with even less info. And the devs wanted it even more obscure and unfair. It was way more punishing at launch in many many ways. As of now there is nothing you couldn't figure out by yourself if you tried. >Has shitty controls
It does not. You only have to understand that this is not Mario and that the slug cat's movement is procedural and has a physicality to it. It's just not very video gamey. Once you understand the weight and the slight clumsiness of the slug it becomes completely natural. >Lore is unclear
It's perfectly clear. You can deduce a lot from the couple lines 5P tells you the couple cutscenes and environmental story telling. You are NOT expected to get the pearls and no info that's relevant to understanding the story of the slug cat is in them. You don't HAVE to know everything and you won't anyway. The extra lore is only there for the most dedicated as a reward. It is only LORE and not STORY. If you want it you better deserve the trivia. >poorly optimized
No it's not. I can run it on a 5 y old laptop with only integrated graphics at 60fps 1080p. >Too punishing
It's not even remotely as difficult as le epic hardcore geimus you see floating around on this board. Not a flaw anyways; >The internet likes it

You seem cool, I'd love to talk about the lore. The sad thing about the anon you're replying to is that there isn't any mention of some of the actual issues the game has. I love RW but here are some complaints I have: >screen transitions can lead to some unavoidable deaths >drowning is poorly telegraphed and sometimes it feels like your lung capacity is RNG >the deers in farm arrays seem designed to specifically troll >the yellow guide at the beginning can get pretty bugged and tell you to go in circles (maybe this is a good thing because it forces exploration) >going down shaded citadel as the only real means to progress isn't particularly clear I don't think, I only did it the first time by accident >it could just be a skill issue, but I would often frick up the long jump near edges and fall to my death
They're minor complaints when compared to how good everything else is but they came to mind.
I like the game and I agree, rain ruined all my fun, it just happens too often and doesn't let me explore.
I made it to the dark citadel and I couldn't get out.
what's the deal with those lil glowy cat dudes anyway?
I always feel bad dragging them through the Citadel while they're so obviously terrified and are desperately trying to get away, but I need your light lil fren

what are you talking about? the charge jump's angle and launch speed is the exact same every time. pretty much every whiner about the controls is just sperging out from dying over and over and cant control their anger. just take a few breaths and pay attention. once youre good enough to leave the first area youre good enough to beat the rest of the game, it never gets very hard.
and the game already got an easy mode with the yellow slugcat.
>dev said he liked the idea of accessiblity modes
But monk is already in the game??? Besides, the addition of Monk came the addition of the Hunter which is essentially hard mode. I can't believe there's so many people crying in this thread over survivor when hunter is the real filter
>got this game for free >didn't bother with it since it sounds like autistic unfun shit
It's not for everyone. Whilst I love RW it's not a game that relentlessly pumps you with dopamine and expects you to win at every turn. It's very much a game focused on exploration and survival
>played this game for over 20 hours on steam >had next to zero progression in the main story after meeting the alien girl >just explored everywhere and died a lot >actually looked up what I had to do >close game and never play again
I already had my fun.
This is why I'm not touching this game until Downpour releases. I'm too casual and busy to waste time wandering around without tips and quality of life improvements.
You don't need tips. The controls won't change anyway and the improvements are minor. Because there is nothing to improve, at this point you're just changing the game. The only actually obtuse version of the game is the launch build which actually is a b***h.
The spamming sperg appeared around Downpour's announcement. I'm pretty sure he's the same guy who cries really hard about "selling mods" and "deviantart OCs" or whatever. He's been at it ever since.
No he's been there for longer than this but I think it's another homosexual in this thread.
Rain World is good but the amount of hiking you have to do to get tiny bits of lore from LttM is obnoxious. Especially when the non-colored pearls are often things like >Oh this one has no data >This one is too faded to use, sorry >This one is just the letter M repeated infinitely
People will defend the idea of having to drag pearls all the way across the world to learn anything about the world. I am sure the defense squad will come out in response to this post. If you love making the story so obscure, why not go a step further? Is there any good reason why the lore data pearls should be colored? Why not make them worthless white and black with random spawn positions like all the rest and make people truly sift through hundreds of treks back and forth with nothing at all to show for it to really capture the "realistic data sifting" experience?
Exploration is the entire game though. The passage system eliminates backtracking, simply eat a bunch of fruit or meat for certain a few cycles and you get a free one time use fast-travel.
Who are you quoting?
filtered
cope, seethe, etc etc
how does it feel to have shit taste?
>such a shit reply

No he's been there for longer than this but I think it's another homosexual in this thread.
That's how many expansions used to be made zoomie
>Calling this shit an expansion
LOL
>Zoomie
Stop pretending moron
Literally what it is.
>got this game for free
>didn't bother with it since it sounds like autistic unfun shit
poor man's hollow knight
Rain World is good but the amount of hiking you have to do to get tiny bits of lore from LttM is obnoxious. Especially when the non-colored pearls are often things like
>Oh this one has no data
>This one is too faded to use, sorry
>This one is just the letter M repeated infinitely
People will defend the idea of having to drag pearls all the way across the world to learn anything about the world. I am sure the defense squad will come out in response to this post. If you love making the story so obscure, why not go a step further? Is there any good reason why the lore data pearls should be colored? Why not make them worthless white and black with random spawn positions like all the rest and make people truly sift through hundreds of treks back and forth with nothing at all to show for it to really capture the "realistic data sifting" experience?
The game would have been better if it were a linear level based game, without the excessive amounts of backtracking.
Exploration is the entire game though. The passage system eliminates backtracking, simply eat a bunch of fruit or meat for certain a few cycles and you get a free one time use fast-travel.
>uses a guide
>"wow this game is PERFECT"
