Who gives a frick about the first game, how's the remake of 2?

Better than the Wii version, but the original PS1 spritework still holds a certain charm and comfiness. It's a matter of preference really.

2 looks better in my opinion, a lot of the standard PS2 dullness got spruced up and a big lighting overall that makes everything pop and feel more whimsical.

      >Who gives a frick about the first game
You mean the one Klonoa game that's actually good? I could understand Ganker not appreciating the artistry of the original Klonoa but to see /vr/ like this is just sad.

Without the original Door to Phantomile this collection isn't even worth looking at, especially not for $40.

The original could be emulated for literal decades (and is superior to this remake in every way).
The second game was locked to PS2 before now, and has been unstable at best on PCSX2.

So yeah, who the frick cares about another remake of 1?

          Basically.

Klonoa 1 has been available in various forms for years. This is the FIRST time Klonoa 2 has gotten a re-release in some form since it came out in 2001.

All I hope is that it'll make more money then the abysmal sales the Wiimake got. Not holding any real hope cause it's an old platformer that a majority of people don't or never cared about anymore.

      Anonymous

So far it's already doing better than the Wiimake in terms of the internet managing to talk about it and the discussion it's generating, but I'm also seeing a lot of people complain about it which could just be an issue of where I'm looking.

This game has abysmal regional pricing, like 50€ for the base game + 20€ for the DLC. Bad performance on good hardware, and forced data agreements.

          Anonymous

          >forced data agreements
Those are everywhere these days. Especially in kids games, I'm guessing it's probably some sorta new regulation? Or they're being proactive and trying to avoid new regulations from being made in the first place.
The Crash Team Racing remake had 50+ pages of license agreements before you got to the main menu.

            Anonymous

Yeah, even if you just collect crash logs, you have to have this gigantic legalese bullshit. It's a pain in the ass and you have to wait weeks for legal to put it together, and worst of all, they tell you it's better to just say you'll have the option to take more data than you are because it will cover you in the future, and nobody reads this shit, so no matter what you always look like some fricking data thief.

            There's no winning.

The first game can be beaten in a couple of hours. Never played the second one.
It's made in Unity engine, which sucks.

Too expensive and too short unity game most people would blast through in a weekend and never touch again seems like a waste of money.

Besides the first game can be emulated and upscaled in Dolphin for free, you can also configure a controller for it.

The new Klonoa is based on the wii remake.
              2 - 3 hour maximum.
Second one is around 4 hours.
              Total 6-8 hours for both.

              Waay to fricking expensive.
              And its using Unity, disgusting.
It should be on GOG for like 10 dollars.

What's wrong with Unity? It's just an engine. When I think of a bad engine, I remember the days of Crystal Tools, now that was a mess.

Cheap low budget games are usually made in Unity.

Yeah, but isn't that on the developers of said cheap games? It's like blaming a crappy painting on the canvas and not the creator.

Considering the short length of klonoa and the fact its using Unity does not justify the ridiculous price tag.

It's not even that good of a game, very easy with extremely simplistic levels and puzzles.

It's arguably the definitive release of Klonoa 2. It retains the original, while removing that "dull" look early PS2 games tended to have. Probably better than trying to emulate the original PS2 game.

Klonoa 1...eh, I prefer the original PS1 game. This version is fine though.

Klonoa's gameplay is fricking boring. He moves slow, has an extremely basic grab/throw mechanic and a useless flutter jump.

Why is this homosexual's games so overrated? So many better scotformers out there exist.

Because Namco doesn't have a flagship platformer and every legendary game company needs one in the year of our

I wish I could afford a Switch. I'll probably get the game anyway just to support the cat-rabbit to hopefully get more. Even though I seriously doubt even if they'd make something new, it'll not be Windows7 compatible and more likely some phone game, I'll still accept it.

The benefit for Klonoa 2 is that it's much easier playing this than trying to emulate the original PS2 game.

It runs fine on the newest revisions. I beat it on PCSX2 months ago.

          Anonymous

Sure. I've played it on my desktop, and my Steam Deck runs it too.

But there are people out there with hardware that can run PRS, but aren't powerful enough for PS2 emulation.

Then there are people who don't have PCs for gaming and just play on console. Emulation isn't even an option for them.

Really? Fine or "I ignored the glitches"? Apparently there is no documented full workaround for the texture glitches and it can only be coped around with EE underclocking. Not being rhetorical or an butthole, kinda want to know if the wiki's behind.

1 is prob better than that weird Wii version but 2's cutscenes were butchered and the characters are no longer as expressive as the original for some reason.

      >but 2's cutscenes were butchered and the characters are no longer as expressive as the original for some reason.
the expressions are still there, like with Lolo

the fricking filter/lighting engine/whatever hides it though; there's a scene where Lolo blushes in the original but in this version you can't even make out the blush because of the visuals

      minor details like that
