according to leaks you get some new dialogue options in new game plus and can skip parts of the main quest, I don't think it's anything too major, the side content doesn't change

Then why did he rush the main quest and then start exploring non stop instead of rushing main quest and starting NG+ to explore in the "time travel" mode?

The time travel shit came from Back to Future. Sega used the same idea for Sonic CD
but lavos is an entropic being whereas the Ohmu are a normal species with a right to the world just as much as the humans. Ohma is a little more like Lavos I suppose but even then he is a righteous being.

Everyone talks about NG+, I am almost thinking they did a "Another Life, Another Start" mod built in. So you can start a new character with a preset backstory in a spot and skip the intro.

No game that ends with "You've finished the main quest and can continue doing other stuff in a universe that hasn't changed in the slightest" can have any kind fo interesting ending. By definition the ending has to be boring and safe, because it can affect nothing. If it affected anything, the player couldn't continue playing after the ending.

I absolutely loved Nier Automata but the ending wasn't a particularly strong point

I played Ending E, I thought it was a cool sequence but from a story point of view it got a little too anime for my taste towards the end

Cant take seriously games with these dialogue presentations, the robotic speaking characters mess up the atmosphere way too much, and cant get into the dialogue at all, the ending also seems like a cheap way to excuse a NG+ instead of having a sentiment towards it
This is in no way near the soul of Automata's ending
it's literally just a reskinned FO4 which was just Skyrim with guns lol. it has all the same jankiness, robotic animations, terrible roleplaying options (what little is there) etc
