FFXIV doesnt have a very high playerbase. 25-30k daily on steam might seem high to some, especially since the launcher without steam exists. However just comparing it to another game shows that its still actually very little
Take Path of Exile for example. This game is considered very niche and yet every 4 months it hits 150k-200k players on steam and has a high player count until 2-3 months into the season. This game also has a launcher outside of steam just like FFXIV so the playercount is also much higher every new season

Season's in PoE are like 4 new skills. One new mechanics that is effectively a reworking of an existing mechanic and keeps people tied over for 4-6 months while they do the same thing again.

What's been your most hated fish?
Right now those two are on my mind. I've been to a lot of of Hypha windows and had awful luck with it. Sidereal is the final boss, I think it's probably the hardest fish in the game with basically every form of difficulty going for it.
Regarding past big fishing, I had pretty good luck with most of the difficult ones (salad, cinder, lancet, ruby, etc). I had a lot of trouble with Henodus Grandis, a tortoise in Kholusia. It's nothing special but it just evaded me for dozens of windows and was one of the last ShB fish I caught. So that might be my most hated.
Yeah, Whale sucks. I went like 4 windows in a row where I got a Phal during the Whale window, then twice now where I jailed myself for 3 windows and didn't catch jack shit.
Henodus is probably my least favorite too, with another !!! bite that can cuck you just when you finally thought you caught it.

Both are Dalamud plugins available through the XIV quick-launcher, Zodiac Buddy keeps track of your shit and lets you easily teleport to where mobs and FATEs are, and Sonar is a FATE/hunt tracking program that alerts you if a certain FATE/hunt is up. Sonar can also be set to track FATEs/hunts across the whole datacenter.

I don't know anything about AI so I have no idea. The method I know of would be to use the vfxedit plugin, start going through the voice files one by one, and swap them out with the JP or FR language files. The files all have the same path and number but with a "_en" or "_jp" suffix so once you have one of her lines it's an easy swap. It's just tedious to manually go through each line one by one. Here's an example file path for Eulogia:

If you just change the number one by one, you'll progress through each voice line in the order they were added.

It's niche now but pre wow release those numbers are good. Dark age was about 3k per server and EverQuest I think was similar every evening. Eve online at launch was around 30kish I think on one which was amazing at the time in 2002. 2004 wow kinda blew things up with massive servers and lack of service for about a year after launch 20 to 30k I think per server and lots of them. Everyone started to chase those peak numbers and never got close ever. Lotro was similar to ff14 I wanna say back in 2007 about 10 12k per server active nightly. Ff14 seems quite DED though in the last few years when I was trying it. Zones empty just some reps here and there. Guild activity was dire even compared to lotro and past mmos.

The problem here is that idiots conflate popularity with how good a game is, and that's never been the case, especially with MMOs. I don't know if I've ever heard anyone say FFXIV was popular in my life, but I have heard a lot of people talk about how good of a game it is. I'm guessing the reason it's not popular is because it's got a fair bit of depth to the storytelling, where every WoW player I know basically skips through anything that isn't a cutscene so they can get to grinding endgame content faster.
Why are you comparing 25-30k on steam right now during the biggest content lull until the new expansion, to PoE (a completely f2p game that isn't even in the same genre) right after a new season? This isn't even attempting to have parity of argument.
And no one that plays XIV cares if XIV is popular. As long as it makes enough money to keep the game going at its pace, we're happy with that. The quality of the game actually goes DOWN when the game is more popular (see EW launch login issues, the wow mass exodus streamer spree, etc.)

Dungeons are fastest for tanks, queues don't exist. Palace doesn't make sense anymore with the playercounts since late Stormblood making even DPS queues trivial.

Wasting resources on a race nobody will play for god's sake
Always start by pulling 2 packs minimum for ARR and wall-to-wall everywhere else in the expansions except maybe the dungeons listed below when you first go into them with crap gear. In fact, you could even get away wall-to-walling on most of ARR even with trash gear if your healer is not a prissy frick who turns their nose at GCD casting heals, because on early levels the tank is the only one with AoE and the brunt of the damage will come from you anyway.
Roll your cooldowns. USE your cooldowns. Rampart + Arms Length for starting ARR dungeons, later on do your 30% mitigation [plus maybe Arm's Length when a pull is spicy], then as that decays Rampart +either Arm's Length or a tank-specific cooldown like Paladin's Sheltron, then after THAT decays stuff like Reprisal + whatever the frick else you have available because by that point you should have every enemy dead and if you don't it's the DPS' fault.
As a continuation of the previous point, your invulnerability IS a cooldown that you SHOULD also use. Don't treat it like a failure condition, it's an asset, being invincible is fun, and you SHOULD use the fricking button, preferably either at the very start of the dungeon [so you can squeeze another invul by the end], or, if you know there's a super dangerous pull at some point, you could save it for that.
Stone Vigil will hurt a lot
Aurum Vale, you have to run all the way along the left wall into the boss arena and park on the inside of it to fight the mobs to prevent it from turning into a shitshow, and that start will also hurt a lot.
Bardam's Mettle will hurt a lot.

Most people don't play on Steam. Only until a few years back were there issues with legality and signing up for an SE account, and Steam exacerbated that problem.
It's easier to sign up now and the game probably has picked up more players on Steam since then, but the wow player migration was initially met with several instances of people having issues signing up for the game because of SE's excessively dated and strict verification systems when signing up for XIV, and it took having a massively popular MMO streamer calling them morons before they revamped the sign up system.
