It's time to settle the argument. Were major gender differences removed out of laziness, or to please minorities?

It’s to pander to twitter SJWs. Animal Crossing and Splatoon also started using gender neutral customization at the exact same time. Nintendo is bending the knee to twittertards.

Because apparently in 2023 you must pander to Black folk and troons otherwise they screech about the big bad transphobic/racist company on Twatter and you get cancelled

Don’t know about splatoon but animal crossing only removes gender in the English localization. Literally every other translation still has it, though you can wear and customize your character however you want.

      both

Male characters could always wear dresses and other girly things, but making every playable character they/them is messed up
But only the english localization did this

In those games there aren't gendered clothing or customization options exclusive to one sex.

      >muh twatter
As if Twitter is that powerful lol lmao look up ESG score and then everything makes sense. Obviously the Pokemon Company would make more money with minimal effort and being the highest grossing franchise

I feel it’s laziness. With how it is now they don’t have to code in different cloths or hair styles and only have to make a single set of them

Because not everybody wants their character look like they’re gonna age at 5X the rate and have crows feet by the time they’re 19. We need the variety because of us can’t relate to that life.

Hahahaha...look at this moron trying to claim ANYONE else doesn't play the game. Go ahead, try to make that searing orange scarlet school outfit look good. You won't.

Why would anyone buy a game with a bike that doesn't use its wheels?

They’re not removed. Characters are still referred to by gender in game (male options are son/he/him/his, female options are daughter/she/her/hers).

The big problem is the fact that both the male and female characters have identical bodies, meaning your initial "choice" is irrelevant. That's really fricking moronic. The only reason they managed to get away with it is because there is virtually zero customization this time around and everybody has to wear the same uniforms. Things will get jarring in a future game when they drop the school setting.

The game still knows if you picked a boy or a girl, even your in-game mom calls you her son/daughter accordingly. That alone should've been enough to shut you morons up. Unfortunately it didn't.
