Why isn't it more popular?
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
CRIME Shirt $21.68 |
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
how do you know it's not more popular?
It's boring as frick to grind from 1-80 for new players
Most of the armors don't even look cool until around lvl 60
Any armor besides human armor is lazy and gay looking
What this anon said
All gear looks the same while leveling (and most of it looks bad), so it doesnt give you the drive to keep playing to make your character look cooler.
I played it to max level and my character looked almost no different than a level 30 or something.
Max level is not max level, going to 80 is the tutorial, plus you can get cosmetics in the store any time
It's still a significant time investment that the game has to keep you interested in so that you will keep playing to the real end-game (whatever it is, I got bored and quit when I finished the base game story).
>you can get cosmetics in the store any time
I hope you are joking.
>I hope you are joking.
Why would he? Every MMO has a cosmetic cash store. Frick, FFXIV even sells boosts
Store cosmetics should be supplementary fun, not mandatory to avoid looking like shit. GW2 is the latter.
Having them is one thing.
Suggesting using microtransactions to get the enjoyment of getting new gear because the base game doesnt offer it, is another (and it's a bad thing).
If 1-80 is just the tutorial, what makes you think any player is gonna want to sit through that in order to start playing the actual game?
>what makes you think any player is gonna want to sit through that in order to start playing the actual game?
because players have been doing that in mmos since the 90s.
They want you to boost
Why does this game need a 10 hour tutorial when it is so incredibly easy and simplistic? There's not even a decent endgame to train you for just a handful of raids and fractals. Besides it's fricking shit as a tutorial since it doesn't even train you for that because everything pre 80 is so fricking easy you could do it naked with no trouble.
The reason why GW2 has 80 levels to slog through is because at the time WoW also had 80 levels and it wanted to be the wow killer more than it wanted to be a sequel to guildwars. That's it, and explains why progression fell off a fricking cliff after 30 levels with nothing about your character changing beyond bigger numbers, because it was an arbitrary last minute change from what was supposed to be a low level cap and a lot of horizontal progression. You know, like guild wars 1 had. At least until they redid the spec system (twice) in a move that fricked over newer players a whole lot.
>t.was a homosexual and nolifed both games
In an alternate timeline they hid hundreds of skills across the map for you to hunt down and increase the options of your 1-5 on each weapon so you could start making actual builds
But that makes too much sense and we live in clownworld
>actually giving you a reason to explore instead of a shitty checklist on the map
What could have been.
You mean reason to look up a guide
You know not everyone looks up a guide the split second they encounter something that isn't braindead right?
Since the game was about exploring make the reward for exploring skills or quests that lead to skills
I think the point of that comment was to illustrate why it is nearly impossible to design a good mmo now, given that so many people will just look up what to do and where to go for every trivial thing
If people want to do that it's up to them, just like people who read guides for single player games
Finding skills to become more powerful in the world (zen master teaches you meditation, airbender at the top of a mountain teaches you howbto create a gust of wond, a scroll of illusion magic in a wizards study, so many cool things could have been done.
Makes a hell of a lot more sense than going from level77 to level 78 or instantly being 100% perfect and magical with every wep you touch from the getgo
I hate zoomers so much it's fricking unreal.
>Asura got far more advanced
>Charr got advances rather than being a tribal themed race for some reason
>Humans lost their gods and began theming themselves off the main villains of the first game
GW2 from day 1 just shat all over GW1 and turned off a lot of fans afrom the get go.
>Why does this game need a 10 hour tutorial when it is so incredibly easy and simplistic?
It's more complicated than FFXIV. That's before PvP.
Okay? It still isn't complicated enough to need such a long tutorial, especially when that tutorial doesn't teach you how to play properly.
>It's more complicated than FFXIV
how? there are like 10 buttons lmao.
You see, when I like a game it becomes complicated and interesting, but when I hate a game it's simple and boring.
>It's more complicated than FFXIV. That's before PvP.
Guild Wars 2 PVE is pathetically easy though. Ultimates are obscenely more difficult.
>All gear looks the same while leveling (and most of it looks bad), so it doesnt give you the drive to keep playing to make your character look cooler.
Who the frick plays MMOs to "look cool". This is some troony shit. I make gear choices based on what makes me stronger. Frick off to your visual novel ERP billboard containment game.
the end game of gw2 is literally fashion wars
>why should one of the most important parts of an mmo, which is gear, look good and not dogshit
Based moron.
Don't forget that while the ingame armor mostly looks like dogshit and anything that looks halfway decent requires a bunch of grinding, meanwhile all the paid armors on the cash shop look significantly better than anything you can earn ingame.
>Most of the armors don't even look cool until around lvl 60
But the leveling armor sets are the best sets. Meanwhile the cash shop outfits are 90% overdesigned glitter shit.
>transmog my ascended gear into leveling armor
>get kicked from groups for looking like a fresh 80 in shit gear
Suffering
This, more importantly you get all your skills by lvl 40 and most are locked behind weapon type so if you get a shit weapon type to level with its even worse
I got to level 80 in a week it's not that hard.
Prime example of a sequel being much worse than the original.
dunno, maybe because it's not better
They completely shit the bed as soon as the game released.
Didn't the go woke?
Yea and the realistic graphics doesn't hold up to the cartoony variant since it's designed to be low poly.
And I thought FFXIV was the troony game.
> one npc standing somewhere in the city that you never even have to interact with.
Very woke.
Didn't Arenanet fired several sjw developers at some point ?
If they did then they certainly haven't made any changes that showed it. So I'm going to guess, no.
They fired one cause the lady couldnt take constructive criticism and yelled at a fan for being male. The guy wasnt even being disrespectful. Also the recent expansion is full of woke shit.
>you never even have to interact with
If you ever do a fractal you'll see 'it'. It's not tucked away in some corner where nobody goes; It's right in front of a place that sees decent traffic that plays on a rather short loop.
They deleted that character, and the troony that made it is also fired years ago. It's outrage homosexuals repeating stale and outdated shit for (you)s.
Ok but now explain
that? oh they clearly deleted the whole expansion anon.
Please play my game anon.
That NPC was a mesmer disguising as a different gender. I don't think that homosexual had any other dialogue and was sitting in town.
There were better baits laid out by Assnet, like a black viking (they are called norn in Guild Wars) in one of the updates. I knew immediately that people would rage, and some on /vg/ were ass blasted. LOL!
Ok but now explain this
I don't own the newest expansion, and frankly, I don't care to defend anything. You either play the game for its gameplay, or you ignore it. The story in GW2 was outright terrible from day 1.
But then again, why care? Read a book if you want story. In video games, they are terrible and lacklustre; nobody should listen to what an NPC has to say.
Lol, could swear it was deleted. Haven't logged in, in more than three years.
moron.
But the game was changed not just the story, it's in the video anon. And it's an RPG, story and character building isn't irrelevant in an RPG.
Completely braindead.
gameplay > story.
This isn't a single player RPG with decision-making. If you want that, you should look for games like Never Winternights, Pathfinder or alike.
Sure but MMOs all have mediocre gameplay outclassed by single player games just like you're suggesting for story. You accept worse gameplay because its multiplayer and you can get invested in your character, you can't do that when player agency is taken away and they censor character customization options.
>you can get invested in your character
Just thought about it for a minute. You probably get invested in the character primarily from the wealth you accumulated, and nothing else. Quite interesting, and it completely disables the anon who is a storygay.
Jokes on you, I moved to coop games from MMOs at one point I guess. And I don't care for reactionary outrage bullshit in either case.
>I spam outdated stuff, give me upboats!!!!
Cope moron
Ironic
Contemplation of purity always had such a weird frickin icon even without the edit
Most of that still applies today and if you say otherwise you're fricking lying.
>You probably get invested in the character primarily from the wealth you accumulated, and nothing else.
Not even remotely true, it's about the rewards you obtain (gear/titles/cosmetics) to build and show off your character, wealth might be an indirect part of that but most MMO's make it irrelevant now
>Jokes on you, I moved to coop games from MMOs at one point I guess. And I don't care for reactionary outrage bullshit in either case.
Criticizing a game for having a censored story, in your face real world politics and censoring armor sets is not reactionary, it's just criticism. That the OP brought upon himself with the thread calling out another game.
This is the oldest MMO cope. "Who cares about mmo story??" Considering MMOs want you to sink 100's of hours into them, everyone should.
Caring about story in a game where you have no agency is moronic
If you want a story game play a single player rpg where you can actually have an impact.
MMOs will never offer real agency over story and thus can never be good as a story game
moron.
Please anon for the love of God just play a decent rpg so you can have real standards
We're not playing this shit so we already have higher standards.
NO mmo can deliver a good story because no mmo can put the player in actual control
Cope gw2troon
I don't play GW2 moron
GW2 has dogshit combat and horizontal progression is completely moronic
But being a storygay in a genre that fundamentally can't make a good story only makes you even more moronic than the gays at Anet
Cope gw2troon
What troony wars 2 does to a motherfricker.
I just accepted that books and movies are tremendously better at telling stories than homosexual video games. You can deny it all you want, but it's going to be a cope post from you.
At best, video games can do great world building or set a theme. But storytelling is surpassed by movies and books, easily. My little chud man.
Yes, but you are playing MMOs primarily for the multiplayer interactions and so on.
I accept your concession.
>Yes, but you are playing MMOs primarily for the multiplayer interactions and so on.
So why not play a CO-OP action game like Vermintide or Monster Hunter? Almost certainly for character building, immersion and investment, which they ruin by forcing RL politics on you and censoring all the armor sets
Why do you lie?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aid_Worker_Sya
They also just had a whole story arc revolving around a pointedly agendered elder dragon, a meta event and chapter in the recent expac with a new agendered NPC, and the final chapter and finale to the decade long dragon storyline started at launch was a lesbian wedding. The main cast has 3 gays, 1 aspie and a cripple. The elder dragon thing is the only really obnoxius part though since it makes no sense why everybody in the world knows or gives a shit about it's preferred pronouns.
>agendered elder dragon
If anything can be agendered, its a fricking timeless eldritch force of nature that ravages the land every thousand years even if it was included later in the game's lifespan conspicuously when the pride movement really started taking off
>was a lesbian wedding
curious fact, the lesbian wedding was censored in the chinese version of gw2 (dont know if the chinese censored the lesbo kiss tho)
i remember seeing gw2 players seething non-stop because of the lesbo censoring
try to explain that to the gw2 community. Touch their precious mounts and they will lynch you
learn the diference.
ff14 is played by trannies. it doesnt have any troony shit on it.
gw2 is made by trannies, and have a frick ton of troony shit in it
Point out twenty troony elements that are within the game. I don't accept a youtube compilation, or just google, bro.
no
>give me 20 examples
>ok here's a video
>no that doesn't count
>I don't accept already aggregated proof, I want you to give up because spending time gathering the data already available yourself is moronic
>Being a mesmer makes it easier.
Mesmer description from the official site.
>Mesmers are magical duelists who wield deception as a weapon.
Ooof.
>forces the player character to say "that's brave of you"
pathetic
I just clicked the dialog close button on the right and walked away.
does anet actually pay you with gems to shill this garbage almost every week on almost every gaming board
nothing about this game is good, story is fan-fic tier, gameplay is garbage, gamemodes such as dungeons and fractals are dead, pvp and wvw is seen as a joke by the devs, mounts killed the fun of pve, hard maps like HoT nerfed because gw2 players can't endure difficulty
gw2 is bad frick off already, anyone who thinks this game is in a good state is delusional
lol gw2 always been woke, it just got unbearable over the last expansion
how have they not released this on steam yet despite the page just sitting there for like 2 years?
They changed their mind
Even more bizarre considering you can still buy and activate the original games on steam
i only really like MMOs with free movement and jumping puzzles and GW2 has superior movement + puzzles :^) im trans btw
if you like assassin creed style explore and collect games you will like it. otherwise its wholly mediocre and what potential it does have has been killed by the devs. it was fun when it came out, i wouldnt play it today.
one of the earliest troony games
XIV has the pedo market. GW2 has nothing.
troony game
Not on Steam and Arena Net is trash.
>Not on Steam
not a problem
>and Arena Net is trash.
true but so is SE
Horrible troony game and they ruined WvW which was the only fun to be had. Chasing 50 player zerg blobs off maps with 20 organized players was hilarious and fighting other teams was fun.
It's a boring game. The only passable activity is WvW.
Literally troonyshit inserted, the gameplay sucks and the game is censored. Guild Wars 1 was incredible however and I would love someone to come out with a similar game, perfect horizontal progression, good end-game grinding for cosmetics and other collectable shit and missions with bonus objectives.. I love it..
Wasn't that because of that writer that was sacked though? Seems plausaible.
>perfect horizontal progression, good end-game grinding for cosmetics and other collectable shit and missions with bonus objectives
That's literally GW2
Has it changed? I remember it having open world
Shame about the censorship and politics shit that ruined a good game then
Sounds like American problem. Game is perfectly fine, but you care more about the textbox than the game.
I couldn't care about the textboxs at all, it's an RPG so I care about the character building and they made sure 99.9% of the armor sets are haram friendly unlike GW1.
>moronic coomer cares more about bikini armor than gameplay
what i expected
It's an MMORPG, they were never about the gameplay anon, you know that, I know that, everyone knows it because all MMO's have subpar gameplay compared with single player games. It's about becoming attached to your character, building them in various ways and having fun socially. Other MMO's aren't having your game is having so perhaps your game should consider putting more effort on producing fun content and improving the character building than appealing to people who don't even play and won't play your game.
have you tried VR chat? Might be the best MMO in the market
There's no character building in VR chat anon what are you talking about? Did you lose your mind in your delusions about Guild Wars 2?
>skills are tied to weapons so no more elite skill hunting
>cosmetics are locked to real money so no more unlocking bad ass armor in game
Lmao @ you
>End game grinding for crazy amounts of gold as all new cosmetics from the first expansion on are in the cash shop. The amount of reward for actually playing the game is low by design to encourage you to spend money in cash shop
>Same for expansion features: comsetic unlocks are cash shop
>No real collectible shit worth doing outside of that
>Mission bonus objectives are unrewarding by design to encourage more cash shop buying
I will never play an MMO with a "Premium currency". I despise shit like "XP boosts" and "Karma boosts" clogging my inventory, keep that garbage exclusive to the chink market.
That's hilarious, I'll add it to the list of flaws
I guess you'll never play any mmo then which is the right move
XI, GW1 and XIV don't have premium currencies anon
>XIV don't have premium currencies
Crysta.
Also it sells boosts, to all jobs, and even story skips. You are heavy on cope.
Crysta is not an in-game currency anon, it's basically virtual money like having $30 Steam credit. You also ignored the other two examples but I think you knew you had no argument which is why you switched from "premium currency" to "any kind of service". I'm glad your game is sinking, you deserve it for not holding them accountable.
>proceeds to describe EXACTLY what is premium currency
That is some heavy cope indeed. Its also a sub game, in case you forgot the bill on your credit card.
>He thinks being a sub game is a bad thing
If you're a F2P game then you're forced to run as a "games as a service" model which leads to shitty design decisions that drag down the entire game because you have to prioritize retention over everything else. FFXIV doesn't have this problem precisely because it's a sub game which is why the developers can literally tell you to unsub and stop playing between content patches or when you're bored and come back when there's content to enjoy. Give me a true Guild Wars 1 successor and I'll happily pay a subscription for it.
>If you're a F2P game then you're forced to run as a "games as a service"
>FFXIV is a sub game
>Still run the game as a GAAS
Full moron.
>he literally gets daily quests and login bonuses and he's accusing other games of being GAAS
Self reflect once in awhile
Guild Wars 1 felt rewarding even with horizontal progression because the skins actually felt good instead of the bland ass shit you get in GW2.
>he literally gets daily quests and login bonuses and he's accusing other games of being GAAS
Yes, FFXIV has that too, what is your point?
No it quite literally doesn't, it has dungeon resets but not daily chores and login bonus cards.
>not daily chores
do you play your game or you just erp in limsa with the rest of the trannies?
there's no reason to do daily roulettes unless you want to level alt jobs and there's no reason to do daily quests unless you care about whatever cosmetic they give. it's rare that i participate in either of those
>I dont do them, so it doesnt exist
I'm done talking to you. Perhaps you should take your own advice.
>i quote shit that wasn't said
they exist, they're irrelevant though
unlike in WoW where daily quest means doing it daily, in XIV daily roulette means doing it once a week, or month or never if you can't be bothered
You need to go back, and never return. Dont you have a billboard to take care?
you need to commit suicide
FF41% troony game.
the fact you think this would annoy me is hilarious, i'm not even subbed to XIV or any MMO for that matter. your poor family
>WoW is literally run by trannies
>GW2 is literally filled with troony NPCs
>FFXIV which has neither troony developers or ingame trannies, is the troony game
Let's just be honest here, you're projecting
>or ingame trannies
What kind of cope is that? There's not a single day you dont meet one in-game? Every day there is people advertising night clubs in the casino.
I've played since 1.0. Never met or seen anyone mentioning trans shit AT ALL.
Now that's gotta be a blatant lie unless all you do is MSQ.
I've been raiding for quite a long time now and there's so many open gays and trannies it's not even funny, and I'm in a EU datacenter for christ sake.
Unsurprisingly most are from the UK.
I never see them either and I play on Chaos EU and I only raid in Party Finder.
>I only raid in Party Finder
That explains it, you never tried hard enough to go for a static or an FC, that's where trannies dwell.
Yeah that makes sense they infest social places but to be honest I'm more afraid of real women than trannies, those I sadly have encountered in PF
>but to be honest I'm more afraid of real women than trannies
lol homosexual.
Every single woman causes drama and has an army of simps following her, they were memed as being guild destroyers 20 years ago and it's as true as it ever was. I have not once ever seen a girl join a party randomly and not be accompanied by a guy who will defend her to the death.
True but trannies do the exact same only even worse because if you go agaisnt one they will have everyone in the entire data center know you as a trans hater. And since every big FC in this game knows eachother you are essentially screwed unless you pay for a fantasia or name change.
Remember when you could just play video games.
>Remember when you could just play video games.
Safe spaces anon. Everywhere its safe spaces.
Kind reminds me of a South Park episode.
Same here. On Cerberus since 2.1. Trannies are an American problem mostly, with few brit copycats.
Nope. I do most content. I've met gay players, but I have never been in DF parties or seen any chat about trannies.
>six pages of achievements
have you finished ARR yet?
I have 2 characters. That one is my oldest. On that character I am at the beginning of ShB. I made another character when ShB launched and played through again. That character is current.
Played from launch to Flame and Frost before dropping it. Like every MMO, there's cool ideas but it falls apart more the closer you get to level cap.
Elementalist was fun.
Don't play on NA and it goes away.
Gaia's lips are made for balls deep frantic sweaty rutting.
I play my game, would you care to give some examples as you have the cheapest daily login bonuses imaginable, like some 3rd rate Korean game
But GW2 is gaas anymore than ff. You paid for the base game and then pay for the expansions.
>GW2 cash shop is the only new cosmetics the game ever gets
>FFXIV, the vast majority of new cosmetics are earned in game with some in the cash shop
FFXIV is still bad in this regard, but miles ahead of GW2.
as opposed to fricking gw2 where you buy gems convert those gems to gold and and can buy things on the marketboard with said gold??? are you fricking moron
WoW's and XIV's are easy to ignore. I dislike cash shops but when the interfacing with the game is minimal I can mostly live with it. There's something about implementing cash shops directly into the game with petty bullshit like temporary boosts that my boomer brain just cannot accept, it makes the game feel cheap and a cashgrab more so than the other MMOs.
I remember being poor
Too bad you don't remember not being a tasteless chink
Because the original guild wars had a great setting with unique gameplay that ncsoft and arenanet absolutely raped because they wanted that wow money
They got what they wanted in the end, players who only play to spend money on cash shop items and none of their hardcore fanbase
>It's way better than FFXIV.
GW2 class balance is a joke and the story is "who gives a frick." The only thing that GW2 has over XIV is world exploration is better. Everything else is either mostly on par of significantly worse.
This board is full of WoW and FF14 trannies. Gw2 might be a pozzed game but it's still alot better than those 2. The reason why it isn't successful is because it has the "horizontal progression" meme. All the rewards you get are usually just skins u wont even use. People see no point in playing and just quit.
Compare this to Lost Ark. A genuinely awful game where 90% of your play time is spent on chores. It's so bad that some quests wants you to stay on the same position for 9 minutes (im not making this up). Yet it does a good job of getting you addicted due to gear progression. No matter how garbage the content is in the end it feels rewarding.
>Gw2 might be a pozzed game but it's still alot better than those 2.
How is it less pozzed than XIV? I'd love for you to explain that
>its not pozzed because of bawd armor
Are you going to die on this hill anon?
Yes, I will die here happily at least in comparison to
Censoring creativity is one of the first signs of being pozzed and sexualization is one of the things they frequently go for, after censorship it becomes virtue signaling under the guise of diversity.
>its the refugee quest again
Should I take you to your localization team? FFXIV has no ground on whats pozzed or not.
Not an argument, even if you do manage to find a flaw with XIV (no one claimed it was perfect) it's still significantly better than the competition as far as censorship/being pozzed goes. WoW is literally ripping paintings off walls that feature women and painting half its npcs black retroactivity. Guild Wars 2 has literally censored practically all of its armor sets and has NPCs transitioning. Meanwhile in XIV we get shit like this for free, coming with this years summer event
OK but how's the gameplay. There's no way you pay 15$ a month to look at skimpy armor
The raiding in FFXIV is the best I've ever played, while the combat is simple the rotations (on some classes anyway) are satisfying and fun to play. The encounters are typically really satisfying and feel good to learn and beat, then if you're still hungry you can compete like an autist for ranking in PVE which can be fun. Obviously I'm talking about Savage and Ultimate here, dungeons and normal mode raid content is soul destroyingly easy. Although I think they're going to bring in more kinds of difficult content with a new style of dungeon that can have a "Mythic+" difficulty
You can't control where trannies will flock to anon, they're everywhere and will infest good things, especially things with sexual content because half of them have that sexual disorder where they get off to imagining themselves as women while pretending to be trannies, don't let those weirdos take good games from you. But you can however not have that kind of thing baked into your game by default by having a majority of your developers be that way inclined or by putting it into the game in the form of NPCs and "content". I also don't encounter them because I just stay at my personal house and queue for content away from public spam, there's no reason to do otherwise
>The raiding in FFXIV is the best I've ever played
Lol, you dont play games
And i'm not reading the rest of that, but you should apply for shilling on twitter.
I've almost certainly played more MMO's than you anon and did end-game content in all of them, which MMO's do you think have exceptional end-game raids? If you have a different opinion that's but it's not true that I'm lacking comparisons
FFXIV raids are literally circular arenas with the boss waiting for you. And ALL of them are simon says, there's not a single intrinsic mechanic to them.
Your shitty job design also makes that if 1 person makes a mistake, everyone wipes.
But I'm not discussing gameplay design with some moron who thinks FFXIV raiding "is the best there is"
So you can point out flaws (exaggerated) but you can't give any better examples? This is the famous *complainer* that makes his home on Ganker without playing or enjoying video games.. It's nice to meet one in the wild
Why would I? You already have your exceedingly low bar set. There's is no convincing a cultist, I doubt you played other mmos to even shill shit like that.
I've played dozens anon but you simultaneously care enough to reply but not enough to actually discuss it because you aren't interested in discussing it, you just want to attack a game you don't like
Not that guy, and I haven't played through ff14 raids only watched them, but from what I can tell all the fights seem to be positional based and remind me of things like the Thunder King fight in pandaland where positional requirements are ratcheted up to 11 with no room for error.
In WoW one of my favorite fights was Alysrazor in firelands, a few of the ranged dps would pick up feathers on the ground to give themselves a flight buff while chasing the boss around the sky dodging clouds and hitting power rings starfox 64 style
The boss would then crash into the middle for a 2nd phase and you would have to keep sprinting through power rings to maintain/build your buff while dodging fire tornados and then enter a 3rd burn phase where if you played flawlessly and stacked your buff to maximum you would have 100% crit, 200+% haste (casting speed + GCD reduction) and go to town.
If your flying players weren't good you wouldn't have enough dps and wipe.
Most memorable fight in the game for me and hella fun
Imo the most fun mmo fights have more than just positional requirements involved
You're completely right anon, I appreciate you pointing that out. It sounds like a lot of fun for the feather players. WoW raiding definitely had its moments but between the highs a vast majority just felt very underwhelming, maybe you're right that XIV perfected positional fights but lacks variety some others do. The music in XIV is insane at times too, really pumps you up for the fights and 8 players dancing to the mechanics in synergy, at times doing completely different mechanics just feels so satisfying to pull off.
Honestly when I see videos of ff14 fights it just reminds me of destiny raids where all 6 players have a specific job they need to do, which when I played it was really frustrating because sometimes you just want to grug brain and fight things
I dont think ff14 has any choice but to force positional fights because the entire combat in the game encourages you to stand still with stiff movement, locked animations and that really really long gcd
WoW's core movement gives you way more freedom to move and still be effective so you'll occasionally have fights where players have to jump to different platforms or chase a running speed boss while still dps'ing, or start kiting the boss through portals etc
ff14 doesnt lock you into animations.
>ff14 doesnt lock you into animations.
yes it does lmao. animation locks are a gigantic consideration in how rotations are used.
it doesnt. you can attach and move freely
anon if you cast an instant oGCD spell you have to wait like 0.7 seconds at least before you're allowed can press another button. if you ignore animation locks your rotation will clip. do you even play this game?
thats the natural delay of the game. not animation locking
>thats the natural delay of the game
It's the animation lock, dumdum.
>natural delay
There's no such thing as natural delay, it's an intentional addition. WoW doesn't have this issue.
how many buttuns you want to be allowed to press between to not call it animation lock?
an instant cast spell should be instant. if it's not instant, it should be on the gcd or have a cast bar.
Doesn't DRG jumps lock animation or has that been changed. Haven't played the job in a while
still does but the speed up the animation a lot
wow wished they had the ff14 combat animations.
yeah, i totally wish the mechanics were designed around circles on the floor so that they could make movies play in the background instead of actually syncing animations with mechanics.
>hit charge in WoW
>you immediately charge with zero delay, knock them the frick out, no delay for next attack, run behind them if you want
Nothing in ff14 comes even close to that crunch, waiting for animations is moronic, gameplay and feel mog everything else
WoW still has the best feeling combat out of all the mmos I've ever played. Even when Rift tried cloning WoW they failed to replicate the skills and character movement.
yeah, FFXIV combat feels genuinely awful at first if you're coming from WoW, but you do get used to the swampy combat eventually.
I tried to get into ff14 multiple times over the years and the swampy combat filtered me
There's just not enough else to make me try and push through to see the endgame
This is basically how I know ashes of creation is going to be a massive flop, every skill in their trailers has some kind of animation delay, even melee skills.
I dont know why gamedevs are such shitters that they copy systems instead of the stuff that's actually good
kickstarter games rarely even release at all
Ashes of Creation is currently overhauling their combat though. It's obviously going to be different than what we've seen in alpha.
I'd hope so but I'll believe it when I see it, they're probably just overhauling the system and not the game feel
Yeah who knows, I just feel like I'm the only one who saw the trailer and immediately thought of new world and how trash that combat was
A shame blizz is trying everything in their power to kill off the franchise.
It's already dead to anyone who's not addicted.
If I'm addicted then why I am I able to take breaks for months at a time to play different games?
and yet it sounds like you still cant leave it entirely, although it is shit and has been shit for almost a decade
>it sounds like you still cant leave it entirely
Why would I leave it entirely if I enjoy playing it from time to time?
>it is shit and has been shit for almost a decade
It still has far better raiding content than any other mmo. FFXIV is hilariously overrated.
>Why would I leave it
thanks for proving my point
Engaging in activity you enjoy from time to time isn't how we define addiction. How did you not know that?
delusional
That's not an argument.
Black person, you have a literal troony as a character in your shitty game, enjoy your troony wars.
What the frick is that, that's photoshop right?
Yes that's a shop
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Captain_Ellen_Kiel
Phew, I knew they had stupid shit like
But that just seemed too ridiculous
Diversity's Edge alone makes GW2 the single most pozzed mmo on the market right now. Not even Destiny 2 is this pozzed, and Bungie hired literal trannies to work on it.
Excuse my ESL. With better i meant better as a game itself not being less pozzed. I appreciate the coom in ff14.
>How is it less pozzed than XIV? I'd love for you to explain that
XIV has no gameplay. No clicking text boxes alone for 99% of the "game" isn't gameplay.
>GW2 has gameplay
Either you're full of shit or never played it. All levels of play in GW2 are pretty brainless mostly due to how the weapon system works. Very limited action bars and rotations with the only bit that could be called complicated being buff stacking. Enemies and PvE boss encounters themselves are hillariouslly simple and just use one shot mechanics to give an illusion of depth.
>All levels of play in GW2 are pretty brainless mostly due to how the weapon system works.
Yeah, all mmos are brainless while leveling, but at least you get to play the game and minmax your efficiency. In FFXIV you run run from one movie to the next movie. Endwalker MSQ was like 35 hours long with about 3 hours of gameplay.
>just use one shot mechanics to give an illusion of depth.
Only the best games are this moronicly hard, and only shitters are scared of that
brb downloading the game
You can just buy legendaries off the auction house so even their progression is entirely pointless
i will try this game's F2P when it comes out on Steam. played WoW and FFXIV but never gave GW a shot. hope it's comfy for someone just wanting to go in blind and casual and not interested in endgame since i've already done enough of that
Whispers falling silently drift on the wind.
But i hear you..
Our journey now a memory fading from sight
But i see you..
>no continues endgame, everything after ascended rank for your gear is just for transmogs
>story dropped the ball DAMN hard recently
no gear trendmill and no real connection with the main story. it's more of a online social club than mmo.
>it's more of a online social club than mmo.
I mean, that also goes for FFXIV. XIV at this point relies almost entirely on RPers for it's subs
That's not saying much, even SWTOR is better than XIV, you should appreciate FF being an aspie trap brand.
All MMOs suck /thread /
Brave. Now go back to your fotm streamer bait zoomie.
oh please your homosexual game isnt even in the same stratosphere as swtor
I gave GW2 an honest shot and didn't play for more than a week, I thought the world might pull me in but the writing is an absolute disaster, the plot is complete fricking nonsense, and all I'm doing between the MSQ events is a bunch of random shit with barely any explanation behind any of it.
I basically just stopped caring after a certain point and gave up.
I was also a bit pissed off to find out that all the post-game story quests are locked behind a surprise paywall so I didn't even get the full game despite buying the full game and latest expansions. Didn't matter in the end because I never made it that far, but still kind of salty about the hidden costs.
Imagine a world where we could discuss GW2 without having to bait the xivtroons to the thread
Thread would die if they didn't
>all this mmo troony cope seethe
*laughs in runescape*
Garbage troony game
/spit
Soul-less cash grab using the skin of guildwars 1s corpse to sell this shit game.
PVE sucks since there is no holy trinity.
FFXIV loses because the maps are completely soulless and you have no reason to even be in them apart from moving from point A to point B for MSQ.
They should just remove the "open-world" because what's the point.
reminder that gw2 general threads take an entire week to reach post cap so the gw2g furries raid Ganker now and then to trick people into trying their dead and shit game
>oh no is this bigot who is not hurting anyone?!!?
>I MUT BEAT HIM UP REE
moronic game.
Because it's woke as frick. It's somehow even more woke than nu-WOW.
Wokest MMO available.
Thank you for this video, it basically confirmed all my fears about the game
damn, and here i thought end of dragons had the potential to be their first decent expansion
guess i'm the fool for ever having any ounce of faith in arenanet
GW is by trannies
FFXIV is for trannies
Learn the difference it could save your life.
Because it's not better.
>gw2cucks on perma damage control
I liked both. I had fun doing map competition in GW2, but preferred FFXIV for pretty everything else.
Same. The biggest problems I have with GW2 are a lack of social features and the writing is serviceable at best and cringe at worst. The best thing about it is that the devs aren't afraid to try something new, like the big meta events, mounts or masteries. I also prefer new elite specs to new jobs. XIV is my main MMO but I still occasionally return to GW2.
Frick man, I miss this game, but my backlog is too long to pick up an MMO again. Fractals and WvW is probably the best the game has, and haters are homosexuals doing it purely for upboats.
forced 48-52% pvp win rate and a busted pvp meta with a bunch of overtuned builds
The game is a graveyard of abandoned ideas, it's actually surprising it's going on for so long because the game has no clear direction.
Which is absolutely confounding considering the absolute wealth of content they simply sit on and squander
It’s pretty funny it took factions like a year to release after prophecies and then they just wasted it for like 5 on gw2 before it finally released and it’s like 1/3 of the continent
your character fricking talks too much in regular gameplay
I played necromancer for two seconds and had to mute voices
Anyone got a link to that video that showed all the pozed shit they added in the latest expac?
Guild Wars 2 is dogshit.
I liked the open world questing, bosses, events, and WvW
But being forced to do the boring linear story quests killed the game for me.
>It's way better than FFXIV.
>Why isn't it more popular?
For me, it's because no controller export. I'm not going back to tab targeting mmos on mouse and keyboard and you can't make me.
wish majority of armor sets didnt have ugly butt/front capes
Only good things about the game are norn chicks, jumping puzzles and world exploration everything else is garbage especially the combat, story and dialog
woke shit
Billbros..
>Playing Woke Wars 2
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Factions was my first GW game.
I don't want to tarnish its memory by looking at nu-Factions.
Simple as.
GW2 was one of the earliest and most obvious victims of wokeness.
Like modern day blizzard is light years away in terms of wokeness compared to GW2 after 1 year.
GW2 was a fricking travesty and the only reason why it isn't remembered as "that bad" is because troonyshit wasn't as common, and usually lgbt was mostly gays and lesbians
>It's way better than FFXIV.
>Why isn't it more popular?
Content is too easy and the story is too shit.
FFXIV content is braindead too, but at least it has Savage and Ultimates. 100% of G2W content is braindead.
gw2 story is simply shorter and the game is more casual. You pay less but you also get less content per xpac. gw2 is the perfect game for ultracasuals - if you dont have much time you still get to finish the xpac content and you dont have to pay sub while playing 10h a month.
Because Ganker is a political movement fighting for traditional Christian family values. FFXIV is based and conservative (anti-refugee, pro-church, have to pay for your sex change, pro-family). Go woke, go broke! The world is changing Moishe. The left won’t win against us.
You are not taking my bunny ears and bawd suits away from me!!!!! THIS IS MY TURF! TYRIA IS MINE!
Can someone tell me what the appeal of MMOs is? I've played WoW up to 50 only but I imagine raids are just longer dungeons essentially. Is there more to it or do I just not "get it"
The appeal of mmo's was talking and playing with people online before social media, youtube guides, online wikis and steam existed.
Now everything is solved for you so the only challenges remaining are autistically grinding (or buying boosts) for gear to do the hardest raid or otherwise PvP which blessed be is actually fun in WoW if your gear is decent.
Tl;Dr mmo's are obsolete and the sweet spot was early to mid 2000's
Mmos were made obsolete by third party communication software
Blizzard even had their own version of voice chat available in the game and then later through battlenet but nope everyone wanted teamspeak or ventrilo or now god forbid fricking discord
Why would you switch? Blizzards internal voicecom came years after everyone was using vent/teamspeak. And using blizz voice means getting into the cuck cage of blizz supervision.
Its a nobrainer to stay third party for more freedom.
>cuck
Barely worth my reply
barks on cue like pavlows dog
so it's not actually the gameplay and thrill of raiding, glad I am not really missing out then
Pretty much.
Raiding was meant to be done with a group of your close friends or a group of people you met in game and mesh well with to become friends
Remove all that and you get the same experience as looking for raid
At this point raiding appeals to a specific kind of player who wants to wipe on really hard overtuned content over and over for the rush of finally beating it with his friends
If you join a raiding guild but you dont really become friends with anyone half the fun of working together just poofed into thin air
That said every so often blizzard makes a really really fricking good raid, probably the last one I remember fondly was nighthold in legion a few years back but I was properly sweaty back then and just playing casually now which is enjoyable enough if you pretend the main story with sylvanas/jailer doesn't exist
>If you join a raiding guild but you dont really become friends with anyone
this is nonsense btw. i've never been in a raiding guild where i didn't become friends with at least a few people.
People get their social interaction fix from it.
Its the only reason to go multiplayer over singleplayer. mmos are basically replacement for couch potatoes to what team sports are for regular people who dont fear exercise.
Actual answer: variety. Good MMOs offer a variety of (optional) content you can tackle and you can aggregate the rewards from that content on a single character that exists within a persistent world.
You have people that miss the point and only pursue power gain after power gain resulting in abominations like World of Raidcraft that abandon all the soul of the genre by focusing exclusively on one aspect instead of diversifying. MMO enjoyers partake in every activity: PvE, PvP, crafting, fishing, and other side content, getting the most out of a fully fleshed out persistent universe.
>Good MMOs offer a variety of (optional) content
Agreed. It's a shame modern mmos like FFXIV have nothing but banal dogshit for side-content. It's like a bad collection of arcade games.
How's the coom?
its not.
i remember playing it at launch and the only PvE endgame content was the same lvl 80 dungeon or world bosses.
any MMO that releases without a raid is doomed to fail
game has plenty of raids and challenge modes now.
I haven't played since the latest expansion came out but the game is still going strong and if it was "doomed to fail" I can't see why it would still have plenty of players 10 years later.
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
Went back to play GW2 on a strong high level thief I used to play. Enemies of my character's level were just insanely tough and doing more damage than I could handle. It would take so long to beat them.
This isn't what it used to be like. What changed? Why are the enemies so much stronger than before? What should I do?
Are you core thief? I feel like the game assumes you're playing one of the elite specs at this point.
Yes, that's right. I don't have the expansions.
Most of the core specs are really underpowered at this point. That said I remember playing a condi thief and doing okay. Try looking up core builds on youtube if you are dead set on not buying the expansions.
Really trod all over the "horizantal progression" angle of GW2. They made the new specialiations notable more powerful than baseline to encourage they be used. So now it has an ongoing power creep with map trains so people can unlock them whe returning. But it still stops build variety in its tracks.
GW2 is an average game that only got worse.
thief got his self-heal passive heavily nerfed with a patch somewhere in the recent xpac.
So enemies dont hit harder, you simply dont heal much anymore.
oof that was thief's only sustain pretty much
This
is probably true. Once they started releasing paid expansions (which they promised not to do btw) they completely broke the balance of the game.
I haven't played this in a long while but Elementalist/Tempest is still one of the most fun classes I've played in an MMO. Never played its Weaver specialization but it looks even more fun.
Devs can’t get out of their own way
Because it's shit.
Not entirely shit (great artstyle, cool environments, interesting content) but if you play this game for a while you start seeing the cracks.
>extremely repetitive gameplay and a lot of grinding
>no world PvP
>no competing for resources
>mostly shitty instanced PvP
>all the best skins are store only
>PvP balance is beyond broken with all the new specs and classes
>introduced mounts for WoWbabies
>store skins are often eye cancer that visually clashes with the aesthetic of the game
I pre-ordered this game and played it for several years, but after a while you just log on and do the same thing every day. Becomes very tedious.
Still probably better than current WoW and FF but that's not saying much.
Its in a good place, being the hipster contrarian choice. final fantasy and wow can keep fighting over their primitive formats, and filter all the trend following shitters to their games
>Even less group content than FFXIV
>Anything new is put into the cash shop
>majority of weapons are brain dead in use
>gameplay in general is fairly brain dead
>what PvE content their is, isn't very engaging and is more about stacking buffs
>Zero respect for the source material
>Zero respect for player time
I tried to like GW2. I really did. But at best its an average action-ish single player RPG that you can see players in but have little reason to interact with them.
Is this the thread where we can complain about GW2 being a massive disappointment compared to its predecessor? Because I'm still mad.
no you annoying boomer
I actually returned from having not played for three years, leveled an engineer and had a lot of fun with the gameplay. I think GW2 is the only other MMO that rivals WoW in terms of how responsive the gameplay feels, despite it being very animation locked most of the time.
Once I finished Heart of Thorns and was working on the Living World for Path of Fire, the story was REALLY fricking tanking in quality. I couldn't stand the format of the quests, nor the dialogue or characters; I don't care for anyone in Dragon's Watch at all, honestly. At the same time, I didn't wanna just skip it all because then I'd be forcing myself through a story I had no context about and wasn't enjoying. So I just quit.
GW2 could be great if it wasn't trying to be a Guild Wars fanfic.
I remember playing at launch, the animation lock even being on rolls and realizing there were no new skills to get or ways to affect my 1-5 abilities made me quit the game around lvl 30
I figured they'd never fix the animation locks making everything feel stiff and never looked back.
Also frick the jump physics and their lack of momentum in a game that had kino platforming segments
imo gw2 struggles because it can't find its stride as a game. It has a lot of ideas but never really commits to anything, to hear them talk about gw2 at release one would have thought it was going to have revolutionary gameplay and actually, if anything, it regressed from gw1 and became more like a generic mmo. The biggest problem with it is that all the classes feel very samey and while they aren't weak, they sometimes feel ineffectual because you don't have the same kinds of builds and synergies that gw1 had. gw1 managed to be compelling despite being a fairly simple game, gw2 has all this unfocused, wide but shallow bloat and it doesn't seem to serve any real purpose. Its novelty wears off pretty quick
>social justice wars 2
How about you go dilate.
>peek into the gw2g thread
>people are shitposting it to hell
>AND DEFENDING THE SHITPOSTING IN THEIR OWN THREAD
KEK how fricking embarassing
ok
yeah it's one of those abusive relationship type games where it's such an obvious lost cause that even the fans kind of hate it. like Destiny
>thread is so dead they have to bump it with shitposts
>shitposts show a lack of discussion and continue keeping the thread dead
its sad to see how far the game has fallen
Gw2 shot itself in the sideways pussy by shitting on pve and the trinity. It is permanently off a lot of peoples radar because of this. The combat takes a long time for it to "click" or understand.
The absolute best part about gw2 is they figured out how to create a game for almost every type of mmo player. You can obtain basically max gear from every type of content. There are so many things to grind for after you get geared that will either net you a ton of gold or look really cool or a utility quality of life item or account wide ability or shop currency. The mounts are unique(until Dragonflight where they copy gw2s mount system so blatantly that i want to punch someone in the face) and when you earn them it feels great.
The most hard to imagine part is that ilvl never increases with a patch or expansion. You can FINISH GEARING. You can take your time. You don't have to poopsock to stay current. New game came out? Go play it! Your progress will not suffer. It is the only mmo i dont feel chained too when i get into it.
Tl:dr im having palpitations from too much caffeine so i didn't sleep well so its all jumbled thoughts. Its figured out how to truly give you freedom to play how fast/slow or hard/casual you want while giving you a path to power.
>until Dragonflight where they copy gw2s mount system so blatantly that i want to punch someone in the face
Good
Copying other people's homework and just outright doing it better is what made blizzard so successful in the first place
I just hope they still have enough people there that remember how to do it since they kept trying to do their own thing and failing miserably the past decade or so.
I agree, i hope they copy everything from gw2. They already figured it out. I doubt it greatly that WoWs engine will allow for not jank movement from a vehicle. They have never ever ever made a new movement method feel even close to gw2s mounts.
From what they showed, this isn't tied to the vehicle system at all, and thank fricking God for that
>tfw out of all mmos with action combat neverwinter is still the most fun
>never winter action combat isbthe most fun
Can I teleport in front of someone, then teleport behind them when they turn around, then teleport again when they reach me, then rewind time to my original position when they get close again, all while jumping around spamming instant cast spells in their face and macro'ing laugh emotes at them?
Most people who call wow's combat bad are too dogshit to understand that any of this is possible.
The only other game I can think of that let's you do even remotely similar shit is straight up pen and paper 1st edition pathfinder
Action combat in most rpgs is pretty much stand still, cast or trade hits until either of you dies
Maybe move out of an instant death attack before planting your feet again if feeling frisky
yes
It’s my second most played mmo of all times. and xiv isn’t number 1
it's alright but jesus frick, it could be a lot better
>no 20'+ tall mommy Norn
damn it
it is my opinion that mounts are bad. if your zones are so pointless or become so pointless that you would rather skip them than play in them, you have failed as a game developer. that is all
They were right about one thing, I hate MMOs and really liked GW2. But the thing is I still hate MMOs, so once I hit 80, did like 6 out of the 8 available dungeons, and finished the story (this was before any of the expansions) I was done. The weekly events and world events were fun along the way, but yeah, I'm just not into playing a game for fifteen fricking years like most MMO addicts are
after taking a long break and then going back to gw2 I couldn't remember my weaver rotations and they nerfed a bunch of shit so I thought why bother and just stopped playing
lol dude what rotation?... just press every button not in cd
Weaver doesn't have any utility to speak of so its only thing was damage which it doesn't even do that well anymore. You're putting in way more effort than most classes for nothing in return.
>You're putting in way more effort than most classes for nothing in return
not him, but, most classes in gw2 are like this, berserk warrior is just a nerfed necro reaper
>game filled with woke shit
kek
Up yours, woke moralists. We'll see who cancels who!
How about you stop playing your outdated mmorpg and open your horizon for a modern one?
>No character customization
I would rather play with people than bots.
Haven't played it since the year it came out but it was comfy as hell, that I can remember and I've been getting a craving to play it again. Im gonna wait for it to be put on Steam though.
Before launch: Horizontal progression only, your hard earned gear will never be outdated!
First patch: Hey guys we made vertical progression.
Before launch: Biggest battlegrounds you've ever seen, there will be so many people in the fights you won't believe it!
Post launch: hey please don't bring so many people into pvp our game can't handle it. small gang pvp only in our big battlegrounds plz. Also pvp dominated by invisible siege weapons that ignore all terrain, with ballista bolts eating your kneecaps from underground.
I honestly don't know what happened afterwards. It might be the best game ever by now, and I don't care. The dev's blatant lies ensured they won't get a dime from me, not now nor ever.
Because its a piece of fricking shit that surfed on the name of its predecessor.
im convinced people that say gw2 is better than any mmo on the market right now literally only got it like last year, gw2 used to be such a good game but arena net is GENUINELY fricking moronic and nerf things that are fun (dungeon farming) never update or give us more of things that are fun (fractals) and the game is just unironically pay2win.
I liked the game a lot but I have zero reason to play it. Once you're 80 + the hero point shit there's literally nothing to do other than grind for gay ass legendaries that barely do more damage than the weapons you can get from fractals. I do think the feel of the game is really good though, and the jumping puzzles are pretty fun, but once you're done you're done. There's really no endgame other than fashion which seems to be a common trend with mmos
don't care, I just jack off to femsuras
my homie
>Game premise: 5 big evil dragons are waking up and fricking shit up! We have to unite and kill them!
>90% of the "story" is about gay fricking plants or just gays and trannies and the rest 10% is about discovering that the dragons are just misunderstood before you kill them
>main elementalist
>high apm, low hp
>provides quickness by subclassing catalyst, a highly important buff for raiding, while doing good damage
>more damage than firebrand
>firebrand has been a meta quickness build for fricking years
>fricking braindead rotation
>it's also the devs favorite
>latest balance patch
>catalyst nerfed into the ground
think I would give a shit if the balance team on this game didn't suck donkey dick
don't play elementalist or any of its subclasses. you will be punished for doing more damage despite being at a higher risk of fricking up
