Hey Ganker, I'm trying to get some help and I'd like a lot of different people's opinions. I was looking through the Ganker recommended games wiki and there wasn't a section of what's considered the best VR games to get. I have a rough draft of some games, but there's probably a lot more that I'm missing that are genuinely good or just really popular for the mainstream audience. I'll post a list I have already in the next comment. Any great games that are VR only or have VR support, please feel free to mention them.
Half Life Alyx is essential.
the worst thing about VR games is VR controllers - the input lag on them is fricking awful and I wish developers would boycott them until the input lag is fixed by one of the hardware providers - only vr "game" i've enjoyed so far is subnautica and DCS and in both of those I am using wired controllers, not VR controllers
I've never heard anyone complain about this. I didn't notice. Basically can you explain what you are talking about any better than you have here? I'm sure tracking controllers has to be a slower process than inputs from controllers, keyboards, mice, etc but it seems like some weird detail you are fixated on. There are a shitload of bad things about VR games people rightly talk about all the time that are candidates for the worst.

Like I said, this is a really short list since I haven't been able to expand upon it. Some games are on here because I wanted to get the best simulator for that sport (Eleven: Table Tennis VR) or because I know it's super popular, so not acknowledging it would be dumb (Among Us VR). So please, feel free to share what you think is a great VR game or VR-supported game that I'm missing from this.
>Superhot VR
absolutely fricking sucks
>Assetto Corsa
has the absolute fricking worst VR implementation i have ever seen and all it takes is a glance at all the negative steam reviews to back that up.
>Redout VR
the desktop game is way better. it's not comfortable at all to play in VR because of how fast it is and how often the courses go vertical. this is not a personal thing, i don't get motion sickness, but i prefer to play in 3rd person and the game doesn't lock the camera to the car when you go vertical, you're just steering blind. in first person you just can't see shit at all.
i'm not going to give my opinion on every single game i just want you to stop recommending games you haven't played
Another thing, I know there's a lot of VR games that aren't on Steam and only on the respective stores for the headsets, but I haven't dug through those to pick out the gems and whatnot, so if there's any games that are good on there too, please share your opinion.
Each device category needs its own list, like how Quest 2 and pcvr would be different
Does no one want to help?
see
as that's the one and only VR game you need to play.
idk
but Subnautica and Outer Wilds have VR versions/mods, and they're both great games that seem like they'd be fun in VR, so maybe try them
subnautica is the best VR experience i've had hands down you just need to use mouse/keyboard when you do it
Bean Stalker
Blade & Sorcery
Carly and the Reaperman
Gal Gun 2
Hubris
Into the Radius
Jet Island
Marble Pop Paradise

Virt a Mate
Koikatsu
Mocu Mocu Dance
Honey Select
Fallen Doll
Poke Abby
Wild Life
Dominatrix Simulator
Villain Simulator
silly anon, VR has no games!

skyrim vr is an obvious one
Skyrim VR does this weird "gliding" with movement and made me motion sick. Play at your own risk.
Also the Vive controllers suck for it.
Different than alyx? I don't understand. Smooth locomotion is smooth, it would be worse if you bobbed. If you can only move with teleport without getting sick I don't think that's anything particular to skyrim VR.
I've been having fun with COMPOUND and gun raiders on Quest 2 lately
RE8VR is almost up there with HL:A. Red Matter 2 was the most immersive due to the amazing graphics. Walkabout Minigolf is super fun and addicting. Walking Dead Saints and Sinners are great.
reprojection bumps it down for me ngl. I wish there was at least a 72hz mode for devs to target instead of reprojected 60.
you might want to ask reddit, Ganker is a dead board
You can save yourself a lot of time, there's nothing worth playing in VR. Alyx is an utterly average 6 hour shooter, and is the best VR has to offer. Always a good laugh seeing lists filled with tech demo tier shit 5 odd years on.
HL2:VR is also a very good VR game but that's because HL2 is a masterpiece.
it would be a stand-out VR title if they overhaul the lighting engine like they said they would.
the episodes have VR support now too.
any vehicle or racing sim
SW Squadrons was my favorite until the small community ruined it with exploits
RE4 VR was definitely a lot of fun to play
This is the definitive version of the game. RE4 was made for VR.
Shame we won't ever get Ada or Separate Ways.
It really depends on what you're interested in. I mostly play Blade and Sorcery, Phasmophobia, and Pavlov. None are story based games. Shit like Skyrim VR can be cool, but I don't like VR games where there's not a lot of physical movement.
What headset do you have?
I felt that Superhot on my Index was fricking trash because throwing stuff on the Index controller somehow felt absurdly bad.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/858260/Until_You_Fall/
Play Until You Fall.
Game is fun as shit and it's a nice workout.
I've been playing thumper on psvr2 at the moment and its fantastic.

To the Top is a great platformer. When I was playing through it I had a dream that I was playing it for real and I woke up halfway through falling hands first onto my bed. So somehow I flipped over and launched myself upward in my sleep.
