What angers me most is how GoW3 was a perfect ending to the entire story. He kills himself with the only blade that truly could, denying Athena her sinister plot, and instead releasing hope to the rest of the world so mankind could all have it without the need of the gods. It's a perfect ending to the story, which from the very first game, has always been a cycle of tragedy inspire by actual greek tragedies. If they wanted to keep GoW going, they should've just passed the torch to a new character entirely or made games elsewhere in the timeline before GoW3 to deal with the many other greek gods that are otherwise MIA.
The series did not need a reboot. The worst part is that they didn't even keep the fun gameplay style, and opted for the over-the-shoulder walk-and-talk movie game style. Older GoW combat isn't super technical or difficult, but it is fun and has a really nice flow to it. Newer GoW is very slow, sluggish, and nowhere near as acrobatic. Juggling enemies in the air so long they couldn't get a single hit off was something I loved in the older games, but that doesn't exist in the newer ones.

Agree 100%. Monster, weapon, environment and doomguy design are all superior in Eternal, whereas in 2016 everything looked like generic sci-fi.
