He keeps running with a gang that clearly doesn't suit his stlye. Why doesn't he just start his own instead of complaining endlessly?
He drank the van der Linde kool-aid, but he also wants to just do whatever the frick he wants.
it's the other way around, Durch drank the Micah kool-aid
Not at all. Dutch wants someone like Micah who won't second guess any darker requests where everybody else would.
>a gang that massacres hundreds of people
>no this guy is too evil for them
the gameplay and narrative are way too divorced here
Yes. Whereas Dutch, Arthur and the rest delude themselves into thinking their honorable or morally gray, Micah is unabashedly evil. He'd be better off in a gang that isn't filled with homosexual hypocrites.
TWO MORE WEEKS ARUTUR
im waiting for the PS5 60fps upgrade to reply please oh god update it plz
>Why doesn't he just start his own instead of complaining endlessly?
He want Dutch as the leader
He isn't as charismatic to attract a large group of useful individuals to keep pulling large/profitable heists. He's also still waiting for a payout from the Blackwater deal. That's enough money to not just disappear at the 1st opportunity.
Micah was actually getting shit done in the gang and the only reason people "justifiably" hate him is because Rockstar had to have him rat to the Pinkerton's for no reason other than "you need to hate him"
What did he do?
All the big heists that brought in the massive cash were done without him.
>All the big heists that brought in the massive cash
Blackwater was Micah's idea, and it brought in way more money than the rest of the gang's heists combined. Rockstar fricked up the mission payment system because Gtav missions payed jack shit.
and it doesnt even make sense considering Milton reveals he only started leaking AFTER Guarma...
So, who tipped off the robberies before that, including the Blackwater ferry heist which was clearly insinuated to have been a set up as well?
John
That would honestly been so fitting. John being some sort of Pinkerton informant all along.
Question is, what would be his motive?
>hates his roastie prostitute wife
>hates his stupid kid
>"If I just get the gang caught, this shit will sort itself out I reckon"
They held his wife and kid?
Keep in mind John is a functioning moron
Nah he is just a jaded everyman. The whole john being a moron wasn't a thing outside of arthurs roasts or his own self deprecating humour.
Arthur really did roast John hard about being dumb, but Arthur's feelings were just hurt
I'd say Abigail. Where the frick did she go when Hosea got captured?
the van der linde gang a bunch of loud, incompetent morons who just keep surviving gun fights. not too hard to track or catch in a honey pot
Micah even says it's a lie and you'd have to be a moron to believe anything Milton says. Micah had no reason to do it, especially since it would put himself in danger. Abigail is the most likely one to be the rat since she and Hosea got caught yet they let her go.
milton thinks he's won when mentions micah. i'd believe him in his arrogance
IIRC some of the newspapers in the game talk about how there's a surge of incidents before something big happens. It's not really a stretch to say that something like the Saint Denis job already had the Pinkertons waiting since the gang already rode that train carriage through town and off'd that Italian fricker. The just got really sloppy is all.g8h
Micah before Act 6 isn't a traitor he's just shit at being covert and has really bad judgement
It's heavily implied to be trelawny
>trelawny
He gained nothing from that.
What do you mean? He's clearly a stray in the gang and is separated from them the most time out of any gang member.
There's no reason for Trelawney to sabotage the robbery bank. In fact, he completely left the gang after the bank robbery since they're in hot pursuit.
>left
I mean the next time we see him we go to blackwater and then after that he is in custody so im not so sure.
I don't see that as a foreshadowing of betrayal. He always do his own thing but he never give away the gang's presence to the law.
The narrative would have been slightly more interesting if he wasn't the rat. He was a cartoony stereotype the entire game talking about how he would stab others in the back and so on and it's supposed to be a twist that he is the betrayer?
he killed the dog which is about the shittiest thing. arthur was a cuck for not just killing him and lying to dutch that he got killed in a shootout.
>Gang full of murderers and cutthroats
>Everyone hates Micah except Dutch
>No one just kills him
Rockstar can't write worth shit.
Imagine if Arthur befriended Micah, 99% of the gang's problems wouldn't have occurred. Sadie Adler however was everything wrong with the gang.
>"Swanson does his share? Molly? C'mon."
My biggest gripe with RDR2 is how seriously it takes itself in comparison to RDR. Just think about RDR's cast of based characters like Seth, Nigel West Dickens, the Strange Man, Irish, Landon Ricketts and Abraham Reyes and compare it to the sad unoriginal and boring shit you get in RDR2.
Not even Arthur, as "good" a character people think he may be, can save the narrative because of how moronic he is. Any outlaw worth his money would've known how much a liability his gang had become and packed his shit immediately after Blackwater.
I'm not gonna say that RDR2 isn't more serious than 1 is, but when did you replay 1 last? It's a pretty serious and sincere game that happens to also have some outlandish characters in it. And it's not like RDR2 doesn't have outlandish characters either.
Sometimes I feel like people don't even remember RDR1 and just go off 10 year old memories. I've seen people unironically say that horses control better in RDR1 and that Marston controls better in RDR1, it's literal insanity. The controls in RDR2 are so much more fine tuned and precise that the only way you'd ever claim 1 was better would be if you just haven't played it in 10 fricking years. The reason 2 might give off the impression that it is worse is because the pick-up system, every item you pick up has to be within actual reach, so you'll spend more time making sure Arthur stands next to the right item or the right cupboard.
Rdr1 has a lot of joke characters that appears in main missions
>horses and John control better in 1
I can't believe anyone actually claimed this in sincerity. You're right, a lot of people are going off nostalgia. I beat 1 again not three months ago and going from 2's horses back to 1's is jarring. They balk at elevations in terrain, take off immediately like a fricking rocket, and turn wider than a semi. Don't get me wrong, both games are 10/10 as far as I'm concerned, but people seriously misremember how 1 (God forbid prior Rockstar games) controlled.
My biggest gripe about the game is YOU CAN'T FRICKING DEFEND YOURSELF IN TOWN AGAINST A HOSTILE NPC.
>be me
>minding my own business
>some drunk npc starts talking shit
>npc dot becomes red
>starts attacking me
>I defend myself
>kill npc
>instant $100 bounty and town is on lockdown
>50 red enemy dots now on minimap
Jesus fricking christ
I don't remember the game but I remember he was wrong
Who will we play as in 3?
So long as its not as a fricking gang member again, I'm happy.
Jack Marston as WWI veteran in the start of prohibition era.
That'd be great, honestly. I want to see Red Dead Redemption 3 set in 1920s Saint Denis (or Chicago) where Jack Marston has gone east after killing Edgar Ross and tried to settle there as a novelist, writing books about the Wild West. Instead, he ends up getting pulled into the gangster underworld during the Prohibition Era where his gunslinging skills are at a premium.
There would be more of a focus on the urban environment with Saint Denis having grown considerably, along with a large wilderness area to explore (they could just remake the existing map and update it, as I personally wouldn't mind returning to familiar locations and seeing how they have changed in 10-15 years.) Horses would still be commonplace alongside early cars and weapons would be a mixture of old West revolvers and repeaters alongside more modern weapons like Lugers, 1911s and a Tommy Gun. Basically take what they did with RDR 2 in terms of gunplay, crafting, money making etc, expand upon Saint Denis and have Jack be the protagonist, with NPCs based on Al Capone and the like.
Sounds fricking kino.
That would be no longer into Wild West genre since Red Dead focus on that. Just make a new IP with 2K's Mafia and LA Noire hybrid.
>Red Dead focuses on the Wild West.
Not since the R* takeover. Now they're trying to just remake The Wild Bunch and delve into the Death Of The West genre.
What the frick are you talking about? Rockstar has always been in charge of Red Dead; in fact, all three RDR games were made by the same Rockstar studio, Rockstar San Diego.
Yeah, that sounds amazing. Why don't they take a Wild West series and set it during a time period that isn't the Wild fricking West. Why even bother with WWI? Why not set RDR3 in the far future, where you play as the captain of a spaceship?
>you play through the entire game. After the final mission it seems like everything is going to work out fine
>Jack's out on an errand/stranger mission post-game
>"Excuse me, are you Jack Marston?"
>turn around to find some guy in his early twenties
>"Last time I checked, who might you be, son?"
>"Very sorry to bother you, sir. My name, is Albert Ross. You shot my father."
>the cycle continues
New character and New Red Dead title. Enough about Redemption and Dutch's gang.
You know we're getting a game set in 1870 or something, back when the west was really 'wild', you know the birth of the wild west or some shit.
>back when the west was really 'wild'
2020s wild west
Oh, it'll be real wild alright. You'll even get to stop the KKK from hanging a Black person!
How about another red dead instead of making another redemption? I'm already sick of that gay community who call themselves a gang
a native american or half-native getting revenge on da white man, like AC3 but worse
>a native american or half-native
Here's the better character
>like AC3 but worse
And the better game for that
Underrated gem of a game
If they drop the redemption shit it'd be nice to play as a sheriff turned outlaw. Only problem is Rockstar wouldn't be based enough to let them get away with it.
>dropped the redemption shit
They should just make it red dead revolver
>Red Dead Revolver
Red Dead Repeater for the sequel
I have become red dead revolved
I'm tired of sequels.
>All the men in the game die terrible deaths with the exception of John and the Indian
>All the women in the gang get off scot-free, rejoin society and gold dig around or become successful business women
This was the most egregious shit in my opinion
>odriscolls show up with kierans decapitated body, eyes gouged out
>Arthur's journal entry: "MY OH MY WAS THAT SADIE A WOMAN POSESSED, DID YOU SEE THAT SCRIPTED SEQUENCE OF HER OVERPOWERING A 200 POUND COWBOY??? TRULY WOMEN DESERVE THE VOTE"
>Bill, you son of a b***h. Did I just hear you comment on Tilly's figure in her night gown? I know ya think it was just a harmless compliment but ya need to get it through yer blubber insulated head that fellers have power over gals. It ain't just our physical advantage but we also been opressin' gals since the damn dawn of time and its time fer a change. Just look around, Bill. The world's changin' and we are too. I ain't gonna tolerate no harassment in this camp and if ya don't like it, take yer swing. Otherwise, sit down, shut up, and keep yer ole dingy paws and comments between yerself, yer imagination, and yer little garden snake.
Doesn't Dutch pull a UHHHH BILL SWEATY ACTUALLY WE'RE THE SAVAGES AND THE INJUNS DIDNT DO NOTHIN
Kek yeah he does. RDR2 is a fricking joke.
>murderous gangster won't stand for heckin' oppression
>>All the women in the gang get off scot-free
>kills Molly for no reason
She deserved it
Molly was larping as a traitor
It was pretty clear she was lying but even if they couldn't tell Molly didn't have the right still
Around micks prepare for tricks
She wasn't lying, she actually did try talking to the Pinks, it's just that she didn't provide anything useful.
Milton says they picked her up but couldn't get her to talk though
The lead Pinkerton guy says that he talked to Molly more than once. If she's talking to feds multiple times, that means she's going to them on her own volition.
No she didn't and there's no proof of it.
>walks into the camp of cultists devoted to a brainlet
>offers them a head start in return for Dutch
>BTFOs Dutch and makes his butthurt
>threatens them with 50 men
>leaves
Was he based?
Idk why they try to act like he's a bad guy
because they're anti-government anti-authority
Christ, the camp interaction of Micah kissing Dutch's ass almost made me throw up.
>You're... Amazing.
>the cowboy fad came and went
>still no game about being a pinkerton
what went wrong?
What's your favorite mission? Either game or both.
>1 makes him him out to be an immoral bastard
>2 makes me just want to hang out with him because he gets bullied so much for basically no reason
rdr1 really made all of the gang seem retroactively out-of-character and unlikeable.
>When you mess up its just one of them thangs, but when I mess up I'm the prize IDIOT
Bill had it rough
That's just how life is for the guy at the bottom of the social hierarchy. There's one in every friend group. Some have it easier than others. It's a lonely and miserable existence that i wouldn't wish for my worst enemy. You're surrounded with your trusted "friends" but none of them really like you and only keep you around because it feels good to not be the one who's lowest on the totem pole.
>came in expecting an ITT: characters who did nothing wrong thread
>it becomes a rdr2 thread
classic blunder
The game had a severe lack of quick draw showdowns
>ending gives you a quick time event out of nowhere
I thought I was watching a movie but if you don't mash that button then Arthur will die 30 seconds earlier than canon, which means you have to replay the damn thing again. for that Micah sucks, though I suppose it's not his fault. in general the ending to RDR2 was too rushed, the parts with John were good though
When did Micah turn informant/rat? It obviously wasn't since Blackwater, because the Pinkertons wouldn't have put up with him murdering his way out of Strawberry. Did they even have an informant in Blackwater, or was it just a genuine frick up on the gang's part?
They make it sound like Dutch went full moron, probably just thought he planned it well and no one knew but well, the law knew
Blackwater job was probably the same sloppy shit as all the big hits in the game
>gang causes a mess
>law enforcement sniffs out their goal
>ambush
>Milton
>easy going level headed willing to work with the gang
>kill him for basically no reason
>Ross
>always a c**t not a single moment where he isnt
>never gets killed
Have you played RDR1?
Yes and John had basically every reason to kill him after he says his family is dead.
Besides John was just too dumb, when Ross wants to shoot Dutch with his gun he should've known that was to trace it back to him.
John was always dumb, him choosing to build his home near Blackwater is the prime example of this. All that preaching "People don't forget, nothing gets forgiven" from his mouth came back to bite him in the ass hard when the Pinkerton able to track him down with the help of the locals.
It's implied in 2 the reason they track him down is because of shooting micah who was an informant.
1 implies he was there on the boat during the blackwater massacre but 2 implies he wasn't there so im not sure what to think
>but 2 implies he wasn't there so im not sure what to think
But he was there, confirmed by himself on pic rel
>angry racist misogynist psycho in gang with 21st century sensibilities
>"Haha they're setting him up as such an obvious red herring"
>He was just the traitor the whole time after all
Why the frick?
I thought this 5 minutes into the fricking game and was baffled he was the bad guy the entire thing. I thought he was going to be redeemed at some point but instead he's a le evil chud the whole thing.
Mary-Beth > Tilly > everyone else
Mary obviously liked Arthur, why didn't he go for her bros?
Don't shit where you eat
Tahiti
Mangoes
The people who made rdr2 are pathetic fricking uber lefty trannies. Micah was just there to be the big bad in the end, that's why he was so hilariously over the top evil compared to all the other people in the gang. What all those stupid leftists dudn't realize though, is that by making every single person in the camp into a nice huggable slightly sad little do-gooder that just wants to go on occasional adventures n shits, they made their ideology way too fricking obvious. Rdr2 is just more typical fricking lefty brainwashing, really. If some crazy billionaire said frick it and made a 600 million dollar western game that was an exact replica of how the west was really like back then, everybody would fricking hate it and no one would play it, simply because of how different people really were, back then. The old timey west was a really rough and vicious and evil place, some real fricked up shit, in fact. it wasn't exactly nice, you know?
It's really disgusting that The Last of Us Part 2 treated Joel's decision to save Ellie as a bad thing and having him killed off like a b***h. If you find the surgeon's recorder in The Firefly Lab in the first game, you'll learn that the Fireflies have experimented on hundreds of people who were infected, but were unable to find a cure. So what makes the Fireflies think that Ellie's condition would make a difference? Even if they were able to extract a cure from Ellie, the world is FUBAR. Do they really think that everyone will suddenly stop fighting and work together to rebuild the world to what it once was? That's way too idealistic. What will happen is that once everyone realize their is a vaccine for the Cordyceps brain infection, other militia groups will try to steal the vaccine for themselves while everyone suffers.
TL;DR Joel Miller did nothing wrong and Neil Cuckmann is a hack
I specifically remember people criticizing Joel for killing probably the earths last neurosurgeon just because of his daughter LARP. Im never taking this board seriously again, you're all just insufferable contrarians.
Well, I wasn't one of those people who criticized Joel for killing neurosurgeon. I had no idea that people took issue with that.
That tends to happen when you've only been on a website since 2020
The whole point of the second game is that both opinions have merit, and that endlessly going for revenge is not worth it. So Ellie kills Abby. Then what? Later Lev goes after Ellie and kills her. And then? Tommy goes after Lev and yadda yadda yadda. I played them both multiple times and loved them. I count them among my favorite games in the past ten years. I think the entire message boils down to one simple thing: just let it go.
>Just roll over
cuck morality
"revenge is... le bad?" is such a basic b***h ""theme""
Suck a dick pusy! Never let anything slide!
Lame and gay, why can't we get a game that doesn't say fricking over people who fricked you over is le bad?
Because they are made by israelites. israelites want whitey to turn the other cheek endlessly for all time, while the israelites get to mercilessly and gruesomely slaughter all their enemies with complete impunity cuz muh 6 gorillion.
>just let it go
>after massacring 400 people that could very well have people that want to take revenge on you
at that point why not just kill her?
Because she finally understands that Abby suffered too.
ok then the message isnt "just let it go" because she's killed countless people to get to her just kill her otherwise you've killed scores of people for literally nothing the game would of worked much better if you could spare people that Ellie canonically kills along the way but nope too much work
