ITT: console sims

Do not discuss the gay pc games. This is a thread only for the unique console ports and original games.

Why are the console games better? Because the 3D engine is kino, you have elements from the expansion paks installed by default in one package, and there is a story mode that plays more like a strategy rpg than any of the pc sandbox games.

The GBA games are also allowed but I will not comment on them because I never played them.

the only good console sims game was bustin out and ONLY because it came out before sims 2 and had taste of 3d graphics. pc players were jealous of it because sims 1 was 2d game
of course when sims 2 came out, no one cared about console shovelware anymore

Sims 1 is 3D on console, it's a totally different game than the PC version.

          Play Bustin' Out
It's literally a remake of this version
Very fun and comfy to play... primary on a rainy day.
Did my 100% run last year and I already want to do it again.

You can play all sims consoles versions through PCSX2, Xemu and Dolphin.

Bustin' Out is easier than Sims 1 Get a Life, it's not as challenging

Doesn't that defeat the point? Play the PC version at that stage

Sims 2 storyline was wild with aliens and supernatural
GBA games were above average too with their own even wackier storylines

I loved Sims 2 Castaway. The PSP and PS2 versions are mostly the same and I think the Wii version is an upgraded version of them but I've never played it. The DS version is a totally different game and not as good but still worth a play if you liked the others.
I would put the PS2/PSP versions on the level of the Lost in Blue games on DS as far as island survival/adventure games go, which is a surprisingly rare genre.

Sims 2 on console has a great co-op mode. You each have your own character and complete certain tasks before advancing to a different lot. Had a blast playing with my brother. But the game kinda falls apart near the end, so we never finished it. Even then, it's still worth a play.

    Can't help it.
This shit was terrible and it was a revelation to play SIms 2 on PC. Lotta respect to people who had nothing else, but all I ever wanted to do is build houses in the Sims 2. I'd do that, let the Sims live in it and quickly lost interest.
I have a soft place in my heart for that version in particular. Since it made me go play it on PC.
Had to do it my bad.

Red pill me on these games, there are so many I don't even. Which one is worth emulating?

      Don't emulate.
Search for packages of The Sims 2 that operate well. I think there are some that even deal well with lunix releases at this point.
If you must, the version in the OP is probably best. Gamecube never got it to my knowledge.

What do you mean? I do have the sims 2 on PC, but the console versions actually seem to be different, which I find interesting.

Don't listen to these nostalgia-blinded morons just get The Sims 3 on Steam or emulate Bustin' Out.

        >sims 3
        >nostalgia blinded
        Go frick yourself.
        Mention 2 and maybe.

        Thoughts on 3?

The console versions are all completely different games. The people saying that the console versions are just inferior versions of the PC games that people only like out of nostalgia or naivety (as though we didn't also play the PC games back then) have obviously never played any of them.

Sims 2 is the weirdest of all of them. The console, PSP, and DS versions are all completely different games. They are the only mainline sims where you can control the character instead of clicking around with a cursor. The handheld games are adventure games and barely have any actual sim elements.

Bullshit, they're all extremely watered-down versions of The Sims 2 in one form or the other.
Some of them are called The Sims, but only one of the other than the PC version has assets from it. Might be the PS1 version if there is one idgaf.

No they aren't, moron. The PSP game is an adventure game and hotel manager involving aliens in the desert. Nothing to do with the PC game.

Yes, you're right. Though the PSP version is also its own weird adventure game with aliens and getting stranded in the desert.

Sims 2: Pets on the DS was a travesty and I don't know what they were thinking. It should've just been a non-Sims, ordinary vet game and it would've been decent, the life simulation aspects made it so tedious and you felt like you were wasting your money buying eggs to not starve when you could be saving up for an x-ray machine or something so you don't have to keep turning away patients with problems more severe than fleas. The pet dance trick made me laugh as a kid though.
Sims 3: Pets on 3DS was more like the Sims. It was buggy as hell, got boring if you played it for too long, and there's no life stages/babies in it which was a shame, but I liked it. I remember shutting my 3DS and shaking it for ages to get those walk coins so I could buy the free money that's the equivalent of /motherlode

I remember playing this port on a modded XBox, first disappointed at how much features were gutted from the original PC game, but the story mode was pretty fun and funny. Weird that the intro dream sequence is you basically getting naked into a hot tub with a younger version of your mom.

How's 2's campaign mode? I saw bits of playthroughs of the GBA games and wanna try those out too.

The Xbox/PS2 version of Sims 2 starts off fun at the beginning, but it becomes a chore near the end. However, the different lot types and designs remain consistently cool throughout the game.

Ahh, you couldn't just say "I like the console games a lot", right? You had to be a little contrarian. Like all console babbys.
