as in like emulated, infact it was only like a year ago i figured out how to emulate ps1
what's so confusing about that?
unless you're asking why did i enter the thread, and in that case it is because i kinda want to learn how to and some good settings so it doesn't lag like a b***h
PS2 is a decent console but it has some serious design flaws. if youve ever opened one up, there are a ton of small ribbon cables that connect the power etc. theyre very thin and the tips dont fit far into the sockets, so over time small movements from normal use cause them to pop out. the worst part is theres a very short one under the optical drive that frequently pops out just from the drive moving back and forth normally. a lot of people with "dead" PS2s really just have a dislodged ribbon cable. they arent easy to get back in either.
The Dreamcast - PlayStation 2 - Gamecube trio it the peak of console gaming, with PC gaming in that period also being at its peak.
The PS2 is the shining star of the group, simply for the huge range of genres and the mountain of gold it produced, despite being complicated hardware. The name of the thing itself still hold clout and power. From nerds to try-hard hipsters to pop culture gays. Lightning in a bottle. Sony unfortunately caught the wrong message from it. And destroyed the company because they didn't like Linux.
The N64 is probably my favorite retro console. It doesn't have a huge library, but it has some very good games. It's also where Mario Kart and Smash originated. Super Mario 64 is my favorite Mario game, it has a vibe that none of the later installments replicate. It's almost creepy/dreamlike, because it's a lonely world where there aren't many other people other than a few toads in the castle. It's a lonely game, but I love it, it feels like home to me. Paper Mario 64 is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and I credit it with getting me into RPG games.
I also love the DS if that's considered retro. I have a "new" 3ds XL that I modded, and the first game I played was DK: Jungle Climber, which is extremely underrated. It also gives me dreamlike vibes, and when I remembered that game existed, it is what triggered my 3ds purchase. I also played Sonic Rush, SM64 DS, and a few others. DS emulation is tricky, it's not quite the same as playing on the original console, because of the unique controls.
I never really was too interested in the PS2, but I have some PS1 games that I love. Final Fantasy 7 is probably my favorite, and I also love Chrono Cross and Suikoden. I don't own a PS1, but most of the games I like on it have better PC ports. I emulate the ones that don't.
This is a respectable and legitimate choice because you have a legitimate reason for your choice.
Games are like a spice in life. Spices make or break a meal, much like games and their systems. You pick your spice rack and load it with your favorite(and often not-so-favorite) spices. Complimenting youth, coming of age, adulthood, and older age.
I'm 37 and I love the Switch. I completely skipped the WiiU-PS4 era and the PC games in that general period. GTA5 and Crysis 3 were the newest games I had played(on PC) since I got a Switch with muh Trumpbux(thanx federal reserve, you gigantic morons).
More importantly I just bought a PS2 39001 and a chink SATA adapter for a 1TB HDD and a FMCB card, and I've been loading all kinds of stuff onto the drive I never had the chance to play in the early 2000s. This combines with the modded Wii I have with Nintendon't and tons of GC games on a thumb stick. Both systems can run over Y-Pb-Pr so I can use either my olde trinitron or the brand new M32U 4K monitors I have using the 'Tink-5.
That era of gaming hits the sweet spot for me as I aged from dumb lil shit to slightly-less dumb slightly-larger lil shit. And your post I understand very well despite technology.
purely game catalog wise i'd say it's the PSOne for me, excluding downwards compatibility and shit.
The games on that thing feel like actual video games. And every game has it's own distinct characteristics so barely anything resembles the other. My big master plan is locking every developer on this earth in a basement for one whole month with nothing but PSOne games to play. Maybe they will realize that way how terrible their modern games are.
It's old by this point, but I can't think of the system that popularized sandbox games as "retro".
what dipshit spent all that time making this image and then saved it too small to read properly?
dipshit who made this also thinks journalists are right and not a bunch of noodle-armed communists
That's not even 1/4 of PS2's library.
Plus those are all B or C tier games.
Nice cherrypicking by some Gankertard.
>believing reviewers over your own experience
never played a PS2 game in my life but you're a homosexual
>never played a PS2 game in my life

true, there isn't a single truly great PS2 game.
nice bait

I'd mention the fan wire too, it's really tiny and the connection to the motherboard is absurdly easy to break.
PS1
PS2
SNES
N64
GC
GBA
GBA SP
NDS Lite

Ask me how I know you don't play Sega
I forgot the DC
What were those usb ports for anyway?
usb devices from light guns to webcams, keyboards, mice, etc.
i dont know but you can use it for bluetooth with ps3 and ps4 controllers if you use opl
Some games supported saving onto usb sticks and printing
There also was a webcam that plugged in there
amazing thread
I will forever have the startup noise and the humming of its fans burned into my mind
looks like someone got filtered, it's ok the game is not for everyone.
Best catalog
That's an "allowed" console, not a "retro" console.
The design is certified retro

Now wouldn't that be something.
