To this date they haven't done a truly great hotel level.
>traditions of the trade (C47)
its C47 so the tech isn't there to make it good >traditions of the trade (contracts)
half of the hotel is empty and haunted, also police scanners ruin it >house of cards (BM)
the best one, but still a bit empty and centered around the casino not the hotel >terminus (absolution)
lol >Bangkok (H1)
One of the worst maps in the nu-trilogy
Hokkaido gets a lot better when you get to know the layout and where the efficient routes and shortcuts are. You get a ton of freedom with even the basic disguises and compared to other maps it's pretty light on enforcers and cameras to worry about. Even the "hard" stuff like suit only or the ninja start aren't really that bad when you know where to go, which definitely isn't the case for other maps like Colorado or Columbia.
sapienza is most sightseeing tourist map. barely a hitman level if there were no targets not much would be different lol and infiltration and killing of targets also aint very interesting

Even just virtual tourism is already better than Bangkok and fricking Colorado.
Bangkok could be good if it was bigger and not split in half making it a pain in the ass to get around. It's so heavily made with the two targets in mind that it sucks for freelancer or any other custom targets.
of the trade (C47) >its C47 so the tech isn't there to make it good
Literally the best level in all hitman games, at least in first time playthrough. C47 is the second worst after absolution but that level is goat. It became the standard for missions in future games. It doesn't have the replayability of some levels in later games but I'm judging for one shot.

I really like the new Hitman games, but the one thing I cannot stand is their tone. I really fricking hate the soft and goofy 007 theme they went with. They don't come close to executing the dark and more classy power fantasy of the originals, particulary BM and Contracts
One thing I never cared for about Hitman, and especially most notably in WOA and now freelancer which I'm trying now, is how dull it actually is. You just pace back and forth in their face waiting for an opportunity to kill them it's dumb
The problem is only explicitly illegal actions being considered suspicious at all. You can repeatedly bump into your target like a drunken moron or stand right in front of guards looking them right in the face and nobody reacts in the slightest. There's a few special cases in WoA like trespassing zones changing based on events or where the target currently is but it's really not there.
Said it better than I could have. The trilogy was fun for a few runs but that ruins the game for me. Freelancer is no better than the original levels. I've got so many other problems with the game as well.
It's an eternal problem the stealth genre has and likely always will have. As long as there's patterns to AI behavior, static events in levels, any sort of consistency in these things and repeating attempts, etc. All things that are necessary to make a video game in the first place, let alone one you want players to be able to complete and enjoy doing so, and all things that will be exploited to their fullest extent by any serious player. Hitman is definitely more lenient than other contemporaries, MGS5 comes to mind as even though people were calling it casualized when it came out, enemy security is still much more aware and intelligent than the dunces in hitman that don't even care if you shoot a camera or throw a briefcase across the room right in front of them.
In my experience abusing and exploiting games like that is the most fun for me, so it's hardly a dealbreaker in hitman, and especially the freelancer mode I've been playing since release and still enjoy. I guess if you crave the immersive experience over the raw problem solving of creative target kills you should just look elsewhere, because honestly even in pure theory this series has never been even remotely realistic, even the absurd tech and comedy in metal gear is kinder to suspension of disbelief than 47's entire character.
The next big thing, or rather, a big thing that has already been developed and lost to time, is infighting AI factions. MGSV was a huge let down, mainly because Kojima embezzled funds and redirected talented staff to PT (true story btw, look it up) and as a result many features they intended to add, such as in-game Afghani Mujahideen, akin to how MGS4 had rebels, did not make the cut. I hope that Konami chooses to move on and make a good new metal gear game without trying to follow in Kojima's shadow so hard, because more often than not it was other people on the development staff that prevented his autism from ruining projects.
It would be nice, but I know better than to hold out hope for Konami to not be fricking moronic and have a good idea for once. Whatever bad you can say about Kojima they definitely don't need his help to squander their IPs.
We had a good 2-3 months of sharing, complaining, and enjoying absurd strategies and bugs, enjoy what we had and know that so many other games don't get even a quarter of what we got. Alternatively hope in vain for a sequel, which might be quite a while with that supposed james bond game.
did they ever do any updates for freelancer? after you beat a hardcore campaign there's not really any reason to keep playing it unless you like the checklist stuff
There's been a few, mostly just QoL changes and bugfixes. The only significant things are a call of duty style prestige mode where you give up all your weapons and money in exchange for a pathetic boost to the amount of money prestige objectives give you, as well as a trophy with an e-peen counter and related challenges for doing it way too many times
the other one is being able to throw objects to destroy cameras, which applies to all game modes and is a far more interesting than they made it seem

What do you think top 3 maps of hitman 3 were?
H3 specifically? Berlin, Mendoza and Chongqing. In the whole trilogy, Sapienza, Hokkaido and Berlin.
Weird, I also think berlin is top tier but hokkaido is very claustrophobic and not really enjoyable.

Number 3 is between Hokkaido and Mumbai for me. Actually i'll change my answer to Mumbai, it has more depth and replayability.
I'm not going to argue with an obviously moronic opinion like that.
what a fricking moron. sapienza is worst level in whole trilogy
Bangkok is way fricking worse than Sapienza, wtf.

nonsense, both totd and hoc are my favorite levels in the entire series

massive disagree
That level sucks so much ass.
I'm sorry what ? This level is god tier.
It would be, if not for the forced timer you have to sit out until all the targets arrive.

Well done 47
post yfw the latin hits
Made me feel like a force of evil whenever this started playing.
Why didn't the new trilogy have any casinos? That and an amusement park are the two settings i wish they'd included

it was a pretty great send off for nu-hitman i admit, i must have put 150+ hrs into the mode over that time period
its just horrifying to realize the next hitman is like a good 4 years away at least unless they keep doing something like ambrosa
did they ever do any updates for freelancer? after you beat a hardcore campaign there's not really any reason to keep playing it unless you like the checklist stuff
i heard they altered some of the hardcore prestiges to not be as punishing but i havent rly played it since the first 2 months
