In earlier games, every character has a special mechanic that separates them from every single other character on a fundamental level, while Strive completely axes that as a concept for the sake of appealing to new players, making every character feel less unique
Strive normalized and consolidated a lot of tools and mechanics while making some of the crazier stuff you can do be tied more directly to Tension. Veterans missing moves or having them made less crazy is really apparent for every character that didn't get completely overhauled. It has a super open-ended RC system but when they always cost 50 Tension and you generally need it for the real saucy stuff it can make the regular moment to moment feel a little dry. Damage is also just as high as earlier GGs with notably lower execution requirements to reach it. Wall breaks are meant to limit endless corner pressure but they add to the insane damage you can get off of normal hits and with supers you can turn them into a crazy mixup/pressure situation anyway given the HKD and Positive Bonus. Also the UI and lobbies are really bad, no qualifiers or buts that shit just sucks.
A shame since I think every single newcomer in Strive is good.
Best way to sum up the whole deal with strive is >Execution level has been drastically lowered, but damage output is the same, if not higher >The focus on character specific mechanics is gone, the game is almost entirely about universal mechanics >Universal mechanics have been extremely simplified and reduced coming from previous games >RCs have been reworked into a weird AoE effect that gives specific frame advantages, though it would be more correct to call them gimmicks, on the other hand all RCs cost 50 meter now >Wall breaks were introduced to supposedly avoid corner lockdown frustration for newbies but they end up creating other, arguably bigger issues for newcomers and are fricking annoying for veterans
If you want to get into the more juicy stuff there's a lot to talk about, but this is the best way I can explain it to you in just a few words
I've played a lot worse (even disregarding shovelware from my childhood I've played Fantasy Strike) but Strive did give me a "I actually just like this character and not the game he's in" moment which is a bad sign.
You don't know shovelware fighters like I do man, I had Ballz 3D and DBZ Taiketsu cartridges, and I've emulated the original Street Fighter just to see what it was like. Strive's overrated to high heaven but it's a workable game, and it has characters I wish weren't stuck in it while Fantasy Strike is just a bunch of dogshit top to bottom.

I don't really know how to continue this conversation if you're gonna be like that
Easier to play, less universal mechanics and streamlined moveset for every characters.
It's also the only GG that people actually fricking play and enjoy.
Gatlings. There was an entire meta game with gatlings where you could chain or delay high low attacks to bait defensive measures like slashback, parry, dead angle, or reversal
Yeah, old man was doing like a half-naked apron look while cooking for all of us.
We fricking told him that nobody learned a damn thing from Soul Food the movie.
thank frick you homosexuals finally removed mortal komb-ACK
it never deserved to be there post mk9
and even then its just a novelty fighter, not a real one
when you look up any list of the best fighting games the top games usually are street fighter, tekken, guilty gear, marvel vs. capcom and super smash. mortal kombat is generally the fighting game for casuals and its main appeal seems to be its violence.
Is there a rundown of all the EVO Japan announcements? I swear we got either reveals or showcases for like eight games.
>The west has never made a good fighting game.
This isn't true but the fact that people think so is a direct result of Mortal Kombat being so successful while being so bad as fighters. UMK3 & MKXL are almost decent but fall short. The only good MK game is Shaolin Monks, a spinoff made by a different team from the mainline.

GGs, think you're the first Plat I've seen to use the cross up pogo mix in pressure, gonna need to lab that out later because it kept getting me. Jin is annoying as frick to play against but the ice restands are fun as hell to use.
If you're genuinely in Iron, stop trying to do things. Unironically wait for your opponent to do something and punish it. Even just a sweep or a throw will throw people off. If they have an EX DP or invincible super as an option, block on their wakeup just outside throw range every time. Don't even bother learning a combo longer than three moves. Just play reactively and you'll be in Silver within a day.
figure out what your character's longest reaching normal is and then block more than you've ever blocked before in your life. When your opponent is just throwing out random moves like DP or whatever, block it and then smack them with that long reaching normal while they recover. Repeat. Congrats you've just made it to Gold.
>start 6 with classic >switch to modern because even the game wants me to use that >can't figure out how to do Luke's 2 other flash knuckle inputs now
This control scheme made no sense to me so I just switched back
It's so sad that CodeMystics managed to have better rollback in SamSho 7 than Bamco did in DBFZ after all was said and done. Glad SamSho came out functional but DBFZ with good netcode could've been even bigger than it was.
i am actually thinking of getting a leverless controller just to play ggst because i am having a blast with it and i got several of my friends to play as well. 70 bucks is a lot of money for me still
no matter how many characters they add, it won't do shit because the core mechanics are just fricking awful and until that is rectified aacc will outlive it.
anyone else hate roaster homosexualry? unpopular opinion but honestly functions and how good my characters buttons feel outweigh getting GOKU AND CLOUD AND BAKI in my fighting games.
>GOKU AND CLOUD AND BAKI
Does this even exist outside of Smash? Most rostergayging in other games is just people who want their mains to get into the new game.
Street Fighter has never had a guest that wasn't some part of SF's world already, they've kept it very clean in that regard, saving crossovers for dedicated crossover games.
>m-muh makoto when will makoto get into sfvi??? IS MAKOTO COMING???? MAKOTOOOOO???? TOMBOY RED UNDERSHIRT COOOOMING KARATE GIRLLLL MAKOTOOOO??????
DBFZ having rosterhomosexualry is a given since people are literally always going to be "WILL MY FAVORITE VILLAIN BE IN" and then they fight over GT/Super Anime/Super Manga/Heroes and whatever.
man frick those buttholes, b***hes didn't even play. i swear to god I asked for lobbies so many times here and you know these roastergaygers don't even play. i hope they all kill themselves. nah i hope they get dysentery and die that way
DBFZ having rosterhomosexualry is a given since people are literally always going to be "WILL MY FAVORITE VILLAIN BE IN" and then they fight over GT/Super Anime/Super Manga/Heroes and whatever.
Man DBFZ threads really turned me away from posting. Rostergayging constantly and then it turned into an Ganker-tier general. I hope HxH doesn't turn into that. Oh, and the gays that act like in universe power levels actually matter.
If Nen Impact has good netcode while Marvel 3 is still stuck on Parsec it'll have its niche.
Anyone play Pokken? Is it worth buying secondhand and getting all the DLC?
If you have a way to play it regularly then yes, great game. DLC is optional unless you really want a character in there or will be playing it locally with people who will want the full roster.
honestly he's kinda reason why i dropped sfvi. he's the only character I can mesh with (maybe cammy but she's a little too high apm and I hate most of her buttons) but he's so vanilla it fricking hurts. i need some SAUCE. denjin charge sucks so much ass. i hate my only option is either ken (even more apm out the wahoo) or luke (execution barrier)
>i need some SAUCE
the player is the sauce when it co.es to using Ryu >denjin charge sucks so much ass
partially agree, it's hreat for DR extensions but it really should be set up so the player can choose when to use it
i just really like his sHP, cMK, and fHP. all 3 of those are just great fricking buttons that feel so good to fricking land. but damn having to adjust to your opponent is so annoying. i wish he had at least some tool to either force them to engage (muh hadoukens which lose out to other shoutos and half the cast have so many ways to deal with it) or something to just rush in and start pressure (yes yes DR -> fHP or cMK but everyone has that too.)
ryu has never had an option that has forced people to engage and honestly i've never really thought about that. if he did he'd basically be a different character at that point though. i do like how light hashogeki is a great fake fireball tool though, it gets people all the time

I do think how the games play matter most but fighting games rely on character designs more than any other genre and each character generally has a very particular gameplan associated with their design, so wanting certain characters to return is understandable. Guest characters have gotten played out though, I agree, and people get a little too caught up in fully-licensed fighters having every little character possible.
I want nothing more than for 3S to be exposed as the degenerate kusoge it is and for every zoomer that ever got fooled by some homosexual youtuber into thinking it was good to immediately turn on it

oh look Third Strike at EVO nothing can frick this one up, that game is good.
>Everyone abused Yun and Chun
Oh look there goes Third Strike, never to be at EVO again.
none of you play 3s
it is by far the most fun fighting game
Pick a character and learn some basic combos, then go and play people so that you can learn all the bullshit the other characters can do, if you can pass that initial hurdle you'll be set as you'll realize that the majority of people that play BB can only run their one game plan.
bruh why has nobody developed a cheap crossup alternative? like damn wtf it's only really banned in capcom cup but every other fighting game its free reign and you can do so much stupid shit with it.
Eighting made seven of them. They're just all PSP exclusive.
Then there's one of the few Treasure-made fighting games, but it's on DS. Bleach kind of got shafted in that regard, if either series got console ports they'd be run in side tournies like GNT4.
>Everyone's got cool powers, but I don't think they all translate well into an actual playable form.
That problem is 1000x worse in HxH and Jojo and those managed to get games. Bleach is fine on that front.
3rd strike at evo Japan was fricking terrible
they literally just didn't stream half of top 24, skipping over all the actually interesting matches, and then top 6 was literally 4 fricking yuns and 2 chuns
ruined my entire goddamn night
I appreciate this happening every time to secondaries >yooo Third Strike is so hype and the graphics are timeless and parry is so hype and YO that soundtrack! >*any streamed high level tournament* >erm what the frick is this? why isn't there a Q or a Twelve? You know they are actually quite good because uh parry exists. Did I mention that I play Q because his design is cool? Yeah I messed around in training mode for 30 minutes. Why is it all Yuns and Chuns?
Just proves that nobody fricking plays Third Strike. The higher in skill you play and watch in Third Strike the more you realize the game is ultra kusoge.
I actually do play 3rd strike, shut the frick up and have a nice day
Sony and their israelitery ruined the whole tournament, it was a fricking clown show they literally skipped half the fricking matches
3S is a rare game that is most interesting at a mid level of play. The better you get at it beyond a basic understanding of how it really plays the worse it gets.
>spent too much time playing old kusoges >then take a break to paint Warhammer >new garou completely slipped my mind
Damn, I've got to get back to grinding. I was planning on playing the Asuka 120% series but what do you think should I bump Garou up the front of the queue?
And not exactly fighting games but who here's used Qanba Gravity buttons? I bought some for my cheatbox and they should be here soon but I'd like to hear people's experiences with the buttons if they have them.
eh why start with the best one? i always like going from the beginning to the end. also really? not all of them are on steam yet? jesus frick it's just ds ports wtf.
Drive tickets is the closest thing to fight money. I like 6 a lot but it's in that phase where everyone complains about it because there's been no new content for a few months but then when Akuma drops they'll go back to praising it as the greatest ever
I like it but it needs faster gameplay updates than it's getting and more character costumes than avatar cosmetics. You can earn money to get some cosmetic DLC for free but it's not like V was, but they do hand out "tickets" that let you use a DLC character for free for a limited time.
Trust me if you play an hour everyday you won't even realise how fast you are doing the pass, I was on 48 days thinking I wouldn't do it but I tried to learn reina (I'm a kaz main) and I've been having fun... also hating every shit eating eddy/law player but having fun nonetheless and I made reina heihachi outfit so im happy
According to reports from its announcement, Nen Impact's development budget is like $600-700k USD. I imagine it'll get budget pricing, though with Bamco it might be $40 even though it'd probably make a profit at $30, but also knowing Bamco it'll be 50% off within 6 months. Also I think it'll be better than BftG; as much as I loved that game for the Takeover & Zord systems on top of having genuine love for the series (and Ryu & Chun), the combos are just too long and too strong for a game with no Burst of any kind. At least Marvel 3 ToDs were over quickly outside of certain TAC infinites and Strange Flame loops. BftG was a nice holdover just like DBFZ was (better in some ways, lesser in others), but 8ing themselves are the only ones who can really bring the feeling back.
I'm still playing KI. Honestly I go for lengths of playing other games then come back to KI and rediscover that it's unironically maybe top 3 fightanz ever made. It's just so satisfying. What a masterpiece followup to the classic old games, and still getting support a decade later. I would love to see a new game but my view of new Microsoft they'd probably frick it all up.
I've been playing KI survival mode with every character just to get the void stage. Now that I got it, I might finish up the rest of the cast. Also I saw the new CotW trailer for Marco, that game's looking cool.
>still getting support a decade later
I wonder what their end goal with KI is right now. Are truly trying to keep it alive for current players, or are they building up to a new entry?
I should really give KI a good shot. I liked Shin Hisako when I fricked around in training mode but just never stuck with it.
>I wonder what their end goal with KI is right now.
Probably just QOL for remaining players. KI is the only MS exclusive fighter they can promote in their sales and stuff on their own shop and on Steam so it does still have a small niche market value for them. I doubt they'll ever make another.
The patches only happened because Rumbleverse was killed extremely quickly which freed up Iron Galaxy way earlier than expected. I think Phil Spencer said the top brass likes KI but they know they can't make a new one that will make a profit and still live up to 2013, so greenlighting more support for KI'13 is their best bet.
K13 is basically too good, especially with all the decade of updates. There's really just no point in making a new one when they can just keep the old one digitally available on their shop/steam forever. Launching a new one would be a giant investment to compete in a market that actually right now is extremely competitive. You've got the big 3 all with new titles and there's never been more second tier fighting games out there than there is now.
Meanwhile KI is basically a boomer tier series that had a good timing entry in K13 because all us old farts who played it as kids in the 90's got to shit our pants seeing high res Sabrewulf pulling crazy combos and have that nostalgia value. Nowadays zoomers have no connection to the series other than maybe playing K13 on their dad's Xbone funny enough. There's just no value in a new one for Microsoft.
Which honestly is kinda fine by me, I still play KI semi-regularly. What are they gonna do with a new one? Add Spartan Locke or some shit? Add a Fable character?
>What are they gonna do with a new one? Add Spartan Locke or some shit? Add a Fable character?
They could add someone from Bethesda or ActiBlizz.

Quite honestly they might as well throw Doomguy into K13. People'd buy him and probably make a gain.
I liked KI, enough to grind Shadow Lords and beat Gargos and I've been meaning to do it on hard for the stage. It helps there's a massive guide for it too.
I'm beginning to appreciate fighting games with single player stuff, though I could do without the microtransactions like the packs in SL.
>and rediscover that it's unironically maybe top 3 fightanz ever made
The problem is that KI was absolutely not a good game until, I want to say the start of Season 3? Before that it was a horribly barebones fighter that wasn't balanced despite having only 8 characters, but the structure was there.
Agreed. They made THE GOAT in Marvel 3 and several other great fighters like Bloody Roar and TvC. Even their cheaper licensed fighters are just good fun.
I liek Samsho. I also love Windjammers 2. Those games are all dead as frick. Why do players avoid good games ?
>Why do players avoid good games ?
It's that people avoid games they don't have brand loyalty to. Strive is an anomaly because people knew about GG since the XX days because the sprites and music were everywhere but it was too hard for the people until Strive.
Strive isn't really an anomaly when it's success was very obvious and simple. GG was a popular with posers series and now for the 1st time it's simple enough without shit like variable wakeup timing so said posers are actually willing to play instead of just watch videos of it on youtube.
That's exactly what I said though, that it already had a lot of people who were secondaries that Strive let in by being easier to play, rather than what BlazBlue did by just having more spinoffs and VN story modes.
>there's no way they will have characters from after the last animated arc.
I sort of doubted this initially but the fact that they added fricking Uvogin as if he is at all relevant to anything convinced me. We might not even get anyone from the ants arc. Maybe Meruem or pitou
I think I'm getting more consistent with dart shot > SA3 without plink, 2 framers aren't that bad. Now I just need to figure out if empty jump throw or back swing blow is a real mix or not then I can start playing Dudleys third coin flip strike for real.
Learning to piano each punch input exactly 1 frame after the other sounds just as hard and always getting hp means I'll always have time to whiff on them and assert myself.
just drum your fricking fingers one after another, I play dudley and I'm pretty fricking good, you should listen to me
every 3sgay pianos or double taps everything, there's literally no reason to not piano links into super
>play fighting game to relax >end up feeling completely exhausted with everything itching.
frick...i hate this feeling, i'm usually never like this but if im against a twitch streamer then it gets personal. wish there was someway to avoid the eceleb queue.
And Chaos Code, and Breaker's Revenge, and Asuka 120%, and Rage of the Dragons. All exclusive to Japanese arcades with no planned home release anywhere.
WTF IS THIS REAL???

Custom Combo in A2 and V-ism in A3 suck ass and every other SF's systems (including the other -isms in A3) are better than them, same goes for A-Groove in CvS2. All are good games, those mechanics just drag them down.
Custom Combos being something you can activate for nearly any punish (and being the only way to punish certain things), giving you insane combo damage for what is usually a lame route (shit's so open you just loop one ideal move into itself with minor positioning differences for 80% of starters across the cast) and being pretty much your only use for meter that matters (or at all) sucks, I'm sorry to say. Still worth playing the games, I just don't like the mechanic. I pick X-ism or C-Groove or K-Groove instead.
Well fingers crossed then. I'll come back and play if he's added. But I've been playing through old fighting games so it's been a long time since I've played anyone online, I'm going to get massacred.
I'm still mad that Nasu canceled the FGO figthing game by French Bread just so he could avertise his soulless Tsukihime remake.
Hoping to god that Arcsys will give it a try in the upcoming years.
I'd be all for it if it doesn't play like anything they've released since GBV.
I just want a regular-ass 2D anime fighter. I don't want simplified controls (at least make it the BB/GG style Technical and Stylish mode distinction), autocombo built into the system, and other nonsense.
This is basically inevitable for the simple reason that fate is a VN/gacha franchise and therefore, the only way you can bait the casual crowd into playing it is to casualise the shit out of it and give it pretty visuals.
Imo, if i'd have to choose, i'd rather have Arcsys to make a FGO fighting game similar to Strive. Strive is mostly getting shit on because it's a step down from the previous iterations of the GG franchise, but as a modern fighting game, it's one of those with the most depth and isn't afraid of requiring actual imputs and execution to do the more advanced stuff.
Much better than how DNF and GBR turn out at the very least.
>Either Strive or DNF/GBR
Alright, in this case I definitely would prefer it to be more like Strive.
Or ideally, like MBTL except with a way better combo system and no shield/MD clashing.
The old GG/BB Technical and Stylish Mode select before you select your character would still be ideal.
i've only played GBVS in recent months and i want to get into UNI again even though i haven't touched it since 2021 and i feel moronic trying to do basic combos and rebeats
These high execution fighting games are so frustrating man, I really like the GRD system and the various shield/roll defensive options but dropping combos or flubbing inputs makes me wanna fricking die
is it really though?
not trying to flame genuinely asking, it feels like there's a lot of things you have to know like your rebeat pressure and theirs and properly shielding to punish certain things
understanding pressure (yours and the opponent's) is a thing in every fighting game.
what imo makes FB games easy to get into is that rebeat pressure (and ability to stagger everything) makes it freeform. there's no set blockstrings, you can use any button and end safely with a rebeat 5A/2A (and due to shield you never want to be predictable with your strings)
on defense you have shield. sure there's some gimmicky shit to learn but in general it's more about figuring out how the opponent structures their defense and calling those out with shield to win the cycle
>what char were you trying?
Byakuya. >uni is really easy to get into,
I want you to know this was so breathtakingly stupid I went and took a walk before I came back to my computer and responded to it.
>uni is really easy to get into
I think he means that it's simple upfront. Playing against other people is going to feel like running into a brick wall, as many of the people online play the game A LOT. Starting out can be tough. I will say that execution isn't the hard part, though. Most of the characters are manageable, execution-wise.

I agree.
Really, unless someone is learning Carmine, Hilda, Vatista, Yuzu, Seth, or Chaos, then there might be a learning curve.
But Byak? Come on now.
Uni is still an anime game, combos are long and have a lot of microdashes and rejumps and shit. The generous buffer and forgiving frame windows make it usually not too demanding in terms of pure execution but it's still going to be a lot to wrap your head around when you're new.

UNIbros, how the FRICK do you fight Waldstein?! I'm looking for some tips in general, unless you have some tips for a Wagner player. I try going for the shield install, but they seem to know about it and either do the ground blast move or rock throw and his limbs are so long it seems impossible to actually hit him.
It's plenty obvious what a Wagner is going to do with shield buff up.
Since Wald has a more viable full-screen poke options you're going to need to abandon the thought of getting free installs from backing off and just try and work them into your combo enders. Either that or try and win Vorpal and just buff > CS immediately to establish yourself.
That or try and build meter to do 236A > 22C in their face as usual. >limbs are so long it seems impossible to actually hit him
It's always a visual trip to try and learn where you can hit the big man but Wagner still has 5B, one of the most privileged buttons in the game. Trust in that move but always keep in mind Wald's hitbox usually starts from the start of his shoulders iirc. As far as his disjointed jump ins go, you either have to block it or really call it out by running up closer and hitting your 3C.
Wagner's 5A is also obnoxious and that will quite literally beat out most of Wald's moves up close, aside from the command grab.
Why is it so easy to get supers when you're trying to do DP motion in SF6? I've even had supers come out because I walked forward from crouch twice. I've never had this issue before and I've been playing since Champion Edition.
25-0'd a friend in All Star Battle R without him getting salty about it like he has in the past. I even taught him the difference between stand block and crouch block.
yeah yeah you've never played a fighting game in your life and you don't know how lobbies work, it's been obvious since your second post you don't need to announce it
its better than granblue and other newbie friendly fighting games while still having the kusoge of more technical fighters. I say its worth it. It even has neutral and shimmies that sfbros really like.
i misinterpreted you're reply and theres probably more those were just the two that I thought off first, if you're only in it for the single player a bunch of anime games would probably be what you're looking for
Part of it is some of the costumes too. A lot of the characters just have random colorful shit all over them and wacky hair dos all on top ridiculous massive bubble butts and pop eye arms and it just feels like it's all lacking a little bit too much cohesion to be great looking maybe.
I guess you are right. The cartoony proportions look weird the detailed textures. Looks kind of gross to me.
I think it can be done but it's never truly looked right. EX series delves a little outside the original style despite having some of the same devs as 2, possibly as a means to make it work in the limited 3D of the time. 4 had that overly stocky style Ono thought Americans would like. V was the most "standard" of the bunch but the model quality was all over the place the clay effect was way less pleasing than 4's ink. 6 had too much detail and used super washed out lighting on daytime stages that accentuates the negative for some reason. Ironically the SF characters modeled specifically for SFxT are probably the closest it got to working, but even then that's barely an improvement from 4 with Poison being oddly way better than the others (probably a very coom-minded modeler making sure it was just right).
Ahhh western artists. I wish the art and animation was better. The animation in particular annoys me because they almost got it, except it's a little too slow and not enough of a clean finish. It doesn't help that movement is also floaty and slightly not fast enough. Also, I hope they clean up assists leaving the screen, they just pop out - no effect, no nothing.
yea, the fact that its obviously aping MAHVEL is so fricking trite. And it has the hood e-sports style going on instead of the magic rune style shit league is going for. I hate popularizing hood culture with fighting games, it's so fricking lazy.
street fighter 6 leaned too much on street culture instead of wordly fighters and looks uglier because of it. Obviously riot wants a piece of the esports pie and is trying to bait sf and marvel players by combining the two, is what I'm saying.
>street fighter 6 leaned too much on street culture instead of wordly fighters and looks uglier because of it
They pushed the worldliness of the roster though, they explicitly brought back the World Warriors and made sure every newcomer besides is from a different country while having JP's true country of origin be obscured with his scam MO being to pretend he's from various countries and use various aliases. I don't even know how you can say this with how much they pushed World Tour.
>Obviously riot wants a piece of the esports pie and is trying to bait sf and marvel players by combining the two, is what I'm saying.
FGC is low tier e-sports when it comes to money, it just doesn't have the same viewwership numbers as FPS/MOBAs, so while Riot can make money out of it it is not a gangbuster crazy amount.
I feel this is another piece on Riot's strategy of branching out the IP and have more games to profit from besides just LoL

Riot doesnt pour money into pots but maybe this will change now. For their other games they have direct deals with teams so Riot literally pays pros who play their games directly. Thats why pot for leagues championship is like 1 million bucks while fricking dota 2 funded by bunch of russians buying skins has 10-15million pot. Riot is paying people to play their games directly not just pros but even streamers or as they call their shills "community pillars". Thats exactly why poverty fgc will love that game. If they wont change their strategy this means game wont have massive pots but players will be paid under table for playing the game.

>Riot doesnt pour money into pots but maybe this will change now
Yeah, i think Riot's strategy right now will be either to put money into pots or host some 2xko tournaments themselves, kinda like how Capcom is currently doing with CPT/SFL
On one hand this is way below what I'd expect from a company with the money Riot has (and they've commissioned/made some killer animations to shill their games before), on the other hand this is the next game from some of the team that made Battle for the Grid which was fricking ROUGH-looking. It's the only truly co-op fighter on the horizon and will be free so I'll try it with my friend but with Nen Impact being literally Marvel 3 Again: This Time There's Baroque I have no intention of making it a main game.
I don't think I've seen anyone be excited for it as a main game outside of competitors hoping that Riot will make tournament winnings worth competing for, which doesn't bode well unless they can somehow get a sizeable playerbase of new players.
I saw a post showing the lines for various demo kiosks at EVO Japan and both HxH and the new character demo for Granblue had longer waits than 2XKO (CotW having by far the longest line, 2h vs HxH's 30min).
>I don't think I've seen anyone be excited for it as a main game outside of competitors hoping that Riot will make tournament winnings worth competing for,
This, no one talks about this game's gameplay, all the conversation around it focus on money around the pro scene, in a way it's a tacit admission that game isn't interesting
Only interest in this is because it's possibly free or at least "free." The current roster shown off isn't interesting, and the Mahvel Infinite style of tagfight is my least favorite.
Waiting to see them finally reveal Katalina because she was the first hinted at in their earliest reveal video.
1) You're wrong about the first part
2) I always had this theory that fighting game women in particular are/were so attractive is how important character designs are in fighting games. You want to attract people to your game with cool looking characters, and the easiest way to do that for women was to crank up the sex appeal.
>try FighterZ >decide to go through story mode to learn the basics >story starts with some Isekai bullshit >Super characters show up 2 minutes in >closed the game and refunded
Any buygays in the thread? has anyone gotten one of the Kotobukiya 1/7 models before? I was thinking of getting one but they've gone up a bit in price from what I remember
I got Shermie, Morrigan and Chun-Li from the bishojou line. They're pretty great figures especially for the relatively low price compared to other stuff on the figure market being way overpriced.
>everyone i talked to and is at Evo now said that lines for xko were so small even that dogshit hunter x hunter game had more people wanting to play their demo
lmao. Xko does look like shit, insanely safe and medicore from those gameplays.
how the popular characters arent just hot women im talking about Dr. Mundo etc. If i was them it would be all the legacy characters only then add new ones in later patches.
Mundo is the only League character I have knowledge of that I would absolutely play in a fighting game. He's Hulk + Bane. If he's left out this game's fricked, same goes with that one girl who ripped off Dante's style meter I heard about.
thats what im saying why not bring your best from the start the roster is fricking weak right now

as someone who hasn't played LoL in 10 years, I don't recognize any of the characters on the roster. I dunno, maybe there are some OGs in there, and because of their redesigns, I'm not able to tell
I don't know why Riot decided to make a fighting game and their thought was "let's make a degenerate Power Rangers/BBTag-type tag game and then make it half the speed and half the damage". Every character except the Tentacle b***h looks lame too, I know LoL has enough decent characters to fill a fighting game just by sheer volume so where are they?
They bought Radiant back in 2016 after they liked what Kilian and Canons pitched to them lmao. This means game is in development for fricking 8 years by now and looks this way. We know game got itd development rebooted at least one time and complete art direction change too so i cant imagine dev hell fighter had to be for 8 years. Fricking insane. This game will have community solely because riot will bruteforce it with money and marketing.
I'd say the proper start of development was when they hired Cl0ckwork away from Power Rangers, which is why the game has the Takeover mechanic from BftG. The only novel parts about the game's design are the co-op ones which will lead to insane butthurt online because of miscommunication and how your partner is the one that has to activate Burst.
>tfw i moved to fighting games from playing fps competitively specifically because fgs are 1v1 >most popular game will be riot garbage designed around playing with teammate
I hope other games will still have healthy playerbase man..
You can play both at once like it's a regular tag game, they just have co-op as an option. I do wonder if they'll let two people compete in the same bracket as solo players or have separate tourneys.

I think they have far, far, far too much faith that League players and zoomers are gonna play a fighting game more than just novelty streaming. They think the IP will carry it. I think it'll be successful on launch as the new thing but dead within a year.
Valorant is retirement home for NA ex csgo pros who couldnt even tickle euro balls so Xko might have some zoom zoom community. Riot bruteforces their games popularity with a ton of money they literally pay even small streamers to play their games. Tft operates on loss for years now and they easily can afford that because League and Valorant make so much money they can carry other games that lose money.
If strive would have better movement game would play 1000 times better. I dont mind systems and dumbed down character kits but movement is just disgusting.
I do like it, but I would hold it in much higher esteem with movement and damage more in keeping with older games. I'm open to plenty of changes and additions they made and think in many ways the game just feels different raher than just feeling worse from pripr entries, but the damage has never felt right and while I don't think the movement needs to be 1:1 with as it was, but the airdashes and lack of momentum into jumps does not feel good.
>even though they had a booth for people to try her out
Oh cool, hopefully she's like Camm- >She has a fireball and a slow down mechanic command grab
Ehhhhhhh, another character that doesn't appeal to me. Maybe I'll try Zeta or Vira.
I doubt it. DBFZ alone was a miracle, they could've just made twice as much Xenoverse 2 DLC instead. Sparking Zero looking pretty good in the gameplay department has me counting my blessings already.
It does help that even the old games were pretty technical in terms of arena fighters. Then again, pretty sure Tenkaichi was the first arena fighter of its kind, since arena fighters before it were more like Power Stone. Most arena fighters nowadays feel so damn shallow with characters only having a few set combos, so Sparking Zero will definitely be a breath of fresh air.
I just hope Spike can get their shit together in terms of Microsoft and Sony before the game launches.
Yeah, they've been working on Tekken since 7's DLC. Which, honestly, could give them even more of a chance to do a Super DBZ sequel once Tekken 8's DLC is over.
Multiple companies contracted ARIKA to help them with rollback because they're the Japanese company that figured it out best that isn't a major competitor. They've still been fine on the non-fighting game side of things since they did Tetris 99 and have that new Endless Ocean coming out.
havent played gbsvr in 4 months
did they go back on not doing balance updates? and is there still a working exploit to get the full version for free or did they fix them all?
they just had a patch recently and also added Vane. Beatrix is the next character sometime soon but i doubt she will come with any kind of balance changes. you can't swap EXE now simply to get the game for free and will need to get the latest crack from some russians.
Hey, can any UNIbros answer a question I have. I swear I am doing a wakeup DP properly but the game doesn't register it and it seems like my opponent just gets a free meaty every single time I try. Am I just timing my wakeup wrong? Also, I am doing Wagner's B version, which is invincible.
Tell me why exactly do people like Third Strike? It's the only fighting game I've ever played where I immediately hated it after only one single round.
Just the fact that it will never get more characters or balance changes and will always have people you can play it with 24/7 is enough reason for everyone to learn 3S. Parries and stuff also mean you can play it forever and still keep improving. What other game do you think should be THE fighting game? Besides +R?
People really like the idea of parry because it feels good to be good at them or because it changes the entirety of neutral and pressure compared to most games (whether or not that's good for the game), or they're an insane Urien or Oro player trying to run the most ridiculous setups in SF history. Personally I don't think 3S is GOAT-level but I do think the way it handles meter is genius; different super meters having different stock amounts and lengths depending on the SA which affects both its usage and EX availability is so smart and I think that gets overlooked a lot.
completely out of the blue, but your image reminded me to ask: does anyone have the scans of the capcom fighting legends playing cards? It had some nice artwork.
Different things, but here goes: >Music and visuals are top-notch >Very fast and responsive >Outside of two extremely busted characters and two useless ones, it's moderately balanced >Parry leads to mind games, even more so when red parry is taken into account >This is subjective, but a lot of people (now) like that the game has a bunch of new characters and isn't the WW + friends
i never understood why people like chun li or what about her's so enamoring that even decades after her introduction, when she was added to fortnite the zoomers were searching her up on pornhub en masse. are her legs really that good?
Yes. Just an incredibly strong design in terms of visual language that activated the neurons of tens of millions because female main characters, especially in fighting games, were exceedingly rare. Chun-Li's popularity was so great that she was the reason mirror matches and alternate color palettes were invented; too many people wanted to pick Chun. There are SF girls that get my dick harder, but Chun is the objective greatest forever.
I've been playing xrd with a friend who doesn't really know fighting games and damn is it fun. I suck ass at xrd and fighting games in general so it's fair. Fun game that's easy enough to get into but you can improvise shitty combos in.
It's been more than a year and every single major Strive tournament is the same bullshit with Happy Chaos, what the frick is wrong with the people balancing this trash?
This, the only way to balance him is to knee cap him hard
Anything else is too little to make any difference
Here is a hot take
His gun should have been like elf’s sniper in xrd and only in focus mode that it would auto aim
Japs unironically can't play chaos and Leo for shit and almost no one in JP region plays Leo so those two run free when people from other regions use them.
FRICK THIS CHARCTER HOLY SHIT
SHE KEEPS HITTING ME WITH THAT STUPID AIR ELBOW MOVE AND MY DP NEVER COMES OUT FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU
FRICK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
i have no idea how yuzu works i just accept sometimes she gets to choose to hit me or cross me up and i just have to accept that as karma for the bad thigns ive done in life
I want to rant. DBFZ was almost the perfect fighting game. It came out as a shallow marvel imitation and unbalanced piece of garbage, but by season 3 it was a completely different game. Genuinely one of the most unique tag fighters. But Bandai/arcsys are fricking moronic and completely ruined it. What could've easily been the marvel 3 of this "generation" of fighters turned into a dead and abandoned piece of shit. There's so much they did that fricked the game I can't even put it into words.
From my understanding the relationship between Arcsys and Bandai just cratered, which is why the rollback update was so fricked (it was done internally at Bandai and not by Arcsys)
It's not just how long the rollback took. If that were the only problem DBFZ had I would still play it. But balance got so fricked it's insane. People memed on it for a while as "le party gaem xd" but it is fricking unironically a party game with 0 skill involved now. It's so kusoge it's unbelievable. DNF Duel but tag fighter tier level nonsense
what's the difference between guilty gear strive and earlier titles?
Frick.
In earlier games, every character has a special mechanic that separates them from every single other character on a fundamental level, while Strive completely axes that as a concept for the sake of appealing to new players, making every character feel less unique
But basically every character in Strive does have a special mechanic that separates them from the other characters.
Bet you're totally a +R oldschool fan, yeah?
I want to agree, but some characters like Baiken lost a lot of unique identity.
Characters are different from one another, yes, but you can't act like they're as unique as they used to be in +R or Xrd
Best way to sum up the whole deal with strive is
>Execution level has been drastically lowered, but damage output is the same, if not higher
>The focus on character specific mechanics is gone, the game is almost entirely about universal mechanics
>Universal mechanics have been extremely simplified and reduced coming from previous games
>RCs have been reworked into a weird AoE effect that gives specific frame advantages, though it would be more correct to call them gimmicks, on the other hand all RCs cost 50 meter now
>Wall breaks were introduced to supposedly avoid corner lockdown frustration for newbies but they end up creating other, arguably bigger issues for newcomers and are fricking annoying for veterans
If you want to get into the more juicy stuff there's a lot to talk about, but this is the best way I can explain it to you in just a few words
Strive is actually fun.
strive just might be the least fun fighting game ive ever played
Damn, I'm sorry to hear that
I've played a lot worse (even disregarding shovelware from my childhood I've played Fantasy Strike) but Strive did give me a "I actually just like this character and not the game he's in" moment which is a bad sign.
even shovel ware and anime party fighters are better than strive
You don't know shovelware fighters like I do man, I had Ballz 3D and DBZ Taiketsu cartridges, and I've emulated the original Street Fighter just to see what it was like. Strive's overrated to high heaven but it's a workable game, and it has characters I wish weren't stuck in it while Fantasy Strike is just a bunch of dogshit top to bottom.
>DBZ Taiketsu cartridges,
that was literally my first video game, id play that over strive
Posts like this just seem like seethe to me
yeah I am seething a bit because strive could be so much better but I genuinley mean it when I say I would rather play games like bleach shattered blade and one piece grand advanture
I don't really get why Strive gets this reaction
>series that was good is shit now
and its not like there's any new alternative
But Strive is genuinely more fun to play than Xrd
This is understandable
>But Strive is genuinely more fun to play than Xrd
maybe if you have a brain tumor
I don't really know how to continue this conversation if you're gonna be like that
Trannies. That's why.
Bridget
>slash > slash > special
>50% life and wall break and oki
>they guess wrong
>round over
Strive never feels like it left it's shitty beta.
Bro if you're playing Chipp and you get hit its your own fault
>You play Chipp
Whom are you quoting? This is literally true of every character in Strive. Everyone shits damage. Makes the game very boring.
Oh I thought you played Chipp because you posted the Chipp image
You're describing every GG. Only in the other games you don't get the reprieve of the wall break reset
Strive is plagued with the same type of people plaguing tf2
damn. Ruined by a bunch of furgays. Too common a fate.
Strive has less to it. Characters have way less things they can do. +R is more enjoyable for me.
Easier to play, less universal mechanics and streamlined moveset for every characters.
It's also the only GG that people actually fricking play and enjoy.
one is a game for frauds the others are games no one plays.
You can see people playing them though
Gatlings. There was an entire meta game with gatlings where you could chain or delay high low attacks to bait defensive measures like slashback, parry, dead angle, or reversal
Been playing picrel. It looks nice but it feels weirdly jank.
>Hunterxhunter got a fightan before One Piece
Does the Grand Battle series not count? Or Burning Blood for that matter?
>Hunterxhunter got a fightan before The Boondocks

RIP Witherspoon. didn't he make a gumbo vid before he passed? The soul food got to him.
God called him home.
Yeah, old man was doing like a half-naked apron look while cooking for all of us.
We fricking told him that nobody learned a damn thing from Soul Food the movie.
There is techincally that 3DS arcsys one that runs on the same engine as its dbz counterpart and even has multi-player between the 2 games
thank frick you homosexuals finally removed mortal komb-ACK
it never deserved to be there post mk9
and even then its just a novelty fighter, not a real one
true.
when you look up any list of the best fighting games the top games usually are street fighter, tekken, guilty gear, marvel vs. capcom and super smash. mortal kombat is generally the fighting game for casuals and its main appeal seems to be its violence.
Mortal Kombat is unironically the worst fighting game series ever. The west has never made a good fighting game.
Killer Instinct
>inb4 some moronic cope about how anon got filtered by it's mechanics
Okay you got me there.
The only good MK game is Shaolin Monks, a spinoff made by a different team from the mainline.
>removed mortal komb-ACK
>When EVERY top player in GG is a troony
>bringing up ESGsports and guilty gear jiive up
i didnt post about those why the frick are you bringing those mentally ill crossdressing mutt homosexuals up out of nowhere? i just want to post about fightans, you homosexual
>cammy trying to suck the fat out of mikas ass
is this normal sexual behavior? i do the same thing...
This is supposed to be funny but I will jerk off to it.
doa bros, how are you holding up?
I'm chilling.
The series peaked with the japanese Dreamcast version of DOA2. I've been good since.
I guess it's too early to ask for lobbies
For what games?
Well, will try now.
Any SA/Latam anon want to play BBCF?
NA welcome but don't complain about lag blablabla you know the deal
BBCF mostly.
>SA/LATM
like why? im just genuinely confused why there's so many anons from there or europe...
the BO BLEIS meme exists for a reason, and it seems blazbnuy made a lot of EU people pick the game up
this is a site that screams ESL like every second
why are you here
I ask myself that all the time.
I'd be down to play a few just to test the connection.

GGs anon. Thanks for putting me in my place. Gotta rethink my life now.
Your makoto is amazing btw. Also god I hate Jin
GGs, think you're the first Plat I've seen to use the cross up pogo mix in pressure, gonna need to lab that out later because it kept getting me. Jin is annoying as frick to play against but the ice restands are fun as hell to use.
ok
frick it I will make webms
Combos don't feel good in Under Night.
post your fighting game mains
>Oh boy SF6 looks neat I should play it
>Stuck in iron
>Losing to people mashing on modern controls
Repeat. Congrats you've just made it to Gold.
>start 6 with classic
>switch to modern because even the game wants me to use that
>can't figure out how to do Luke's 2 other flash knuckle inputs now

WAKU WAKU IS THAT MY FUWARKING HERO!? I'M GETTING EXCITED FOR SOME FIGHTERZ!
...said no one ever until they fix the rollback.
It's so sad that CodeMystics managed to have better rollback in SamSho 7 than Bamco did in DBFZ after all was said and done. Glad SamSho came out functional but DBFZ with good netcode could've been even bigger than it was.
i am currently using a keyboard to play strive.
i am actually thinking of getting a leverless controller just to play ggst because i am having a blast with it and i got several of my friends to play as well. 70 bucks is a lot of money for me still
could always go for a cheap aliexpress flatbox, solid piece of kit for ~£25
what does baikens narration say when she enters the match? i dont speak japanese
Who's excited for the new melty update?
Good to hear they didn't completely abandon the game after UNI2 released
Thankfully UNI2 is out so I won't need to come back to this.
Unless they give Kouma his 5BB, 5B[B], j214x, and j22x back. And maybe 236X[X]
no matter how many characters they add, it won't do shit because the core mechanics are just fricking awful and until that is rectified aacc will outlive it.
I still probably won’t play it until Len is in it
Are you going to play it if they add Len?
Yes I love Len
A little bit, but Nasu has personally attacked me both with this games roster and him using fake Aoko a bunch recently so I'm pretty disheartened.
anyone else hate roaster homosexualry? unpopular opinion but honestly functions and how good my characters buttons feel outweigh getting GOKU AND CLOUD AND BAKI in my fighting games.
>GOKU AND CLOUD AND BAKI
Does this even exist outside of Smash? Most rostergayging in other games is just people who want their mains to get into the new game.
Tekken.
Maybe Street Fighter but less so.
Dragon Ball FighterZ had immense annoying fricking roastergayging holy shit.
TOMBOY RED UNDERSHIRT COOOOMING KARATE GIRLLLL MAKOTOOOO??????
man frick those buttholes, b***hes didn't even play. i swear to god I asked for lobbies so many times here and you know these roastergaygers don't even play. i hope they all kill themselves. nah i hope they get dysentery and die that way
DBFZ having rosterhomosexualry is a given since people are literally always going to be "WILL MY FAVORITE VILLAIN BE IN" and then they fight over GT/Super Anime/Super Manga/Heroes and whatever.
Man DBFZ threads really turned me away from posting. Rostergayging constantly and then it turned into an Ganker-tier general. I hope HxH doesn't turn into that. Oh, and the gays that act like in universe power levels actually matter.
hxh is doa.
If Nen Impact has good netcode while Marvel 3 is still stuck on Parsec it'll have its niche.
If you have a way to play it regularly then yes, great game. DLC is optional unless you really want a character in there or will be playing it locally with people who will want the full roster.
i've mained Ryu since '93 so I really don't care who the rest of the roster is
honestly he's kinda reason why i dropped sfvi. he's the only character I can mesh with (maybe cammy but she's a little too high apm and I hate most of her buttons) but he's so vanilla it fricking hurts. i need some SAUCE. denjin charge sucks so much ass. i hate my only option is either ken (even more apm out the wahoo) or luke (execution barrier)
>i need some SAUCE
the player is the sauce when it co.es to using Ryu
>denjin charge sucks so much ass
partially agree, it's hreat for DR extensions but it really should be set up so the player can choose when to use it
i just really like his sHP, cMK, and fHP. all 3 of those are just great fricking buttons that feel so good to fricking land. but damn having to adjust to your opponent is so annoying. i wish he had at least some tool to either force them to engage (muh hadoukens which lose out to other shoutos and half the cast have so many ways to deal with it) or something to just rush in and start pressure (yes yes DR -> fHP or cMK but everyone has that too.)
ryu has never had an option that has forced people to engage and honestly i've never really thought about that. if he did he'd basically be a different character at that point though. i do like how light hashogeki is a great fake fireball tool though, it gets people all the time
wasn't hadouken kinda like that? feels stronger in sfiv and v. VI feels like it does barely any chip or guard break. that's if you can even land it.
i meant besides hadoken
sigh i just wish ken wasn't so apm i keep dropping his optimals and its depressing.... here's hoping akuma has less fricking dfshakldhslka press all the buttons.
gonna be honest i haven't even tried ken yet, i went straight to ryu and my secondary cammy. haven't tried a single other character yet kek
For me, I hate I WANT MY SLIGHTLY OBSCURE GUEST CHARACTER just as much.
oh look Third Strike at EVO nothing can frick this one up, that game is good.
>Everyone abused Yun and Chun
Oh look there goes Third Strike, never to be at EVO again.
I want nothing more than for 3S to be exposed as the degenerate kusoge it is and for every zoomer that ever got fooled by some homosexual youtuber into thinking it was good to immediately turn on it
people tell me the team battles are better but the last one ended with a chun mirror
none of you play 3s
it is by far the most fun fighting game
>you don't play the dogshit game you hate
correct
>it is by far the most fun fighting game
incorrect
cope sissies
even aris calls it the best fighting game
>it is by far the most fun fighting game
for me its blazblue, nothing comes close
How do I learn Blazblue? Every time I try, I drop the game for a month, which forces me to relearn everything.
Pick a character and stick with it
>How do I learn Blazblue?
i dunno im not good either its just fun
Pick a character and learn some basic combos, then go and play people so that you can learn all the bullshit the other characters can do, if you can pass that initial hurdle you'll be set as you'll realize that the majority of people that play BB can only run their one game plan.
It really, honestly isn't
bruh why has nobody developed a cheap crossup alternative? like damn wtf it's only really banned in capcom cup but every other fighting game its free reign and you can do so much stupid shit with it.
Because you stupid brainlet
Most games don't allow you to have 2 different directional inputs after the trannies abused it with their troonybox.
pretty sure it's legal in both strive and tekken and can't people just code it so both buttons hit the down input or something?
SOON™
ARLONG CHADS
Bleach would make for the coolest fighting game. Objectively.
I would main Chad even if he was bottom tier
Eighting made seven of them. They're just all PSP exclusive.
for me its shattered blade
Then there's one of the few Treasure-made fighting games, but it's on DS. Bleach kind of got shafted in that regard, if either series got console ports they'd be run in side tournies like GNT4.
On paper? Maybe. In reality? Ehhh. Everyone's got cool powers, but I don't think they all translate well into an actual playable form.
>Everyone's got cool powers, but I don't think they all translate well into an actual playable form.
That problem is 1000x worse in HxH and Jojo and those managed to get games. Bleach is fine on that front.
im going to buy tekken 8
what am i in for?
post-purchase regret
Its fun
3rd strike at evo Japan was fricking terrible
they literally just didn't stream half of top 24, skipping over all the actually interesting matches, and then top 6 was literally 4 fricking yuns and 2 chuns
ruined my entire goddamn night
I appreciate this happening every time to secondaries
>yooo Third Strike is so hype and the graphics are timeless and parry is so hype and YO that soundtrack!
>*any streamed high level tournament*
>erm what the frick is this? why isn't there a Q or a Twelve?
The better you get at it beyond a basic understanding of how it really plays the worse it gets.
it's giga kino at a highest level, you just need it to be a team game or a ft 10 match.
I want you to know that you are right
Anyone play Pokken? Is it worth buying secondhand and getting all the DLC?
GET OVER HERE!
>inb4 manjaw
best mk game
>spent too much time playing old kusoges
>then take a break to paint Warhammer
>new garou completely slipped my mind
Damn, I've got to get back to grinding. I was planning on playing the Asuka 120% series but what do you think should I bump Garou up the front of the queue?
And not exactly fighting games but who here's used Qanba Gravity buttons? I bought some for my cheatbox and they should be here soon but I'd like to hear people's experiences with the buttons if they have them.
>year of 2024

FIXED THAT FOR YOU
i really want to try it out but god damn it's like $99 CAD for the collection like jesus frick it's a ds game port. yes yes atlus. STILL.
start with IV, Citra. It's the best one.
eh why start with the best one? i always like going from the beginning to the end. also really? not all of them are on steam yet? jesus frick it's just ds ports wtf.
I is bad and broken
II is bad and broken
III is good but hard as balls and you are going to quit
IV is perfect
V is perfect
Nexus is trash
I and II can't be that bad, they're DS games.... and doesn't the steam port have QoL stuff?
Citra also has mouse support and quick saves.
>I and II can't be that bad
They are
Us EO fans are all autistic homosexuals just play the games and decide for yourself
How's S F6 right now ? Might pick it up whenever Akuma drops. Is there a fight money system like SF V where you can earn D LC c harac ters ?
Drive tickets is the closest thing to fight money. I like 6 a lot but it's in that phase where everyone complains about it because there's been no new content for a few months but then when Akuma drops they'll go back to praising it as the greatest ever
I like it but it needs faster gameplay updates than it's getting and more character costumes than avatar cosmetics. You can earn money to get some cosmetic DLC for free but it's not like V was, but they do hand out "tickets" that let you use a DLC character for free for a limited time.
Alpha 2 should be at Evo.
Honestly, no cap, being entire fr, Tekken 8 kinda slaps. Don't know what people are complaining about.
i like it but i usually play fighting games in waves so fighting pass bullshit is pissing me off.
god damn it i just realized i haven't played this week and im only fight level 13....frick idk if i'll make it in time to finish the pass.
Trust me if you play an hour everyday you won't even realise how fast you are doing the pass, I was on 48 days thinking I wouldn't do it but I tried to learn reina (I'm a kaz main) and I've been having fun... also hating every shit eating eddy/law player but having fun nonetheless and I made reina heihachi outfit so im happy
all the current main fighting games are ass
slime fighter dicks
kekken
granpoo
goober gear
all shit, dead ass
it's fun but I got motion sickness when playing and I don't want to risk it becoming worse. At least I know it happened to other people as well.
Post interactions that you think are cool
If HxH is at least as good as BFTG I think it'll do well. It's gotta be like $30 though.
I would love to see a new game but my view of new Microsoft they'd probably frick it all up.
>only KI Chad ITT
I should really give KI a good shot. I liked Shin Hisako when I fricked around in training mode but just never stuck with it.
Do you have the full game?
Yeah, that's the main "problem" really.
If IG somehow added a new character or two just for MS to flex their acquisitions, I'd take it. Doomguy could work, or Illidan, or Alex Mercer, or Chai
Quite honestly they might as well throw Doomguy into K13. People'd buy him and probably make a gain.
>Do you have the full game?
Yeah I bought it ages ago, there's just so much shit coming out I get sidetracked. This year's been terrible that way too.
KI easily competes with modern fighters in terms of quality. Hard part is just that it's a bit of a discord fighter.
8ing are the best fighting game developers.
Agreed. They made THE GOAT in Marvel 3 and several other great fighters like Bloody Roar and TvC. Even their cheaper licensed fighters are just good fun.
Oh wait I read that post wrong.
I liek Samsho. I also love Windjammers 2. Those games are all dead as frick. Why do players avoid good games ?
Samsho's online killed it. No crossplay and no rollback until recently.
Will Pretty Fighter X ever get to be kn the main stage?
As someone who's actually played Pretty Fighter X, heck no.
Now FIST, that's the real shit right there.
this guy needs to invest in a ethernet cable:
https://www.instagram.com/kingred/?hl=en
wrong link?
likelihood we get Akuma trailer and/or a release?
I unironically might read all of Hunter X Hunter before Nen Impact comes out so I can have a connection to it similar to what I had with Marvel 3.
Just watch the anime, there's no way they will have characters from after the last animated arc.
Understood, most people seem to talk up the Madhouse anime from what I've seen anyway.
Glad you're happy.
>there's no way they will have characters from after the last animated arc.
I sort of doubted this initially but the fact that they added fricking Uvogin as if he is at all relevant to anything convinced me. We might not even get anyone from the ants arc. Maybe Meruem or pitou
ill take yun and chun over SF6 any day of the week tyvm
Based streamboar
sf6 is unironically the reason why i don't play fighting games anymore, i will watch the 3S, ignore the SF6 and you can't stop me.
I think I'm getting more consistent with dart shot > SA3 without plink, 2 framers aren't that bad. Now I just need to figure out if empty jump throw or back swing blow is a real mix or not then I can start playing Dudleys third coin flip strike for real.
>without plink
what are you doing you moron
just piano it, it turns 1 frame windows into 6
Learning to piano each punch input exactly 1 frame after the other sounds just as hard and always getting hp means I'll always have time to whiff on them and assert myself.
just drum your fricking fingers one after another, I play dudley and I'm pretty fricking good, you should listen to me
every 3sgay pianos or double taps everything, there's literally no reason to not piano links into super
>play fighting game to relax
>end up feeling completely exhausted with everything itching.
frick...i hate this feeling, i'm usually never like this but if im against a twitch streamer then it gets personal. wish there was someway to avoid the eceleb queue.
Wait, Vanguard Princess is back???
And Chaos Code, and Breaker's Revenge, and Asuka 120%, and Rage of the Dragons. All exclusive to Japanese arcades with no planned home release anywhere.
I thought arcades were dying over there
Had to be alive at some point to die in the first place
japan is the only place that has had an arcade scene for like a decade
Anon, in the mid 90s the Japanese arcade market was as big as the whole US console market.
You guys play fighting games on the Switch? MK1 seems like it's not so bad anymore.
>You guys play fighting games on the Switch?
Why would I do that?
I would rather backflip off a high-rise than play Mortal Kombat.
I do.
We a fighting game now
WTF IS THIS REAL???
Let me guess, jp/console only...?
What a monkey paw.
You were not going to play it
Alice Gear Aegis CS is console but does have global english version
Fug. Hope they port it in a couple of years or something (Doubt it).
Oh well
>another studio has fallen for the casualization meme
It's so tiring Ganker
>still crying about modern controls when it has had virtually no impact on the competitive scene
is it like modern controls where it's a separate option you have to select or it this part of the default control scheme?
It is literally modern controls.
you can choose between arcade style and basic style
https://www.snk-corp.co.jp/us/games/fatalfury-cotw/guide/#fightingguide_howtoplay
>*all characters except tizoc
Grapplers continuing to be treated as characters exclusively for morons by being barred from using smart style
You say this like the original Garou had hard inputs
>it has slime gauge and slime rush too
I fricking hate modern fighting games.
fake fan. drive rush and ither similar mechanics are just a new interpretation of the custom combo system from alpha 2
Custom Combo in A2 and V-ism in A3 suck ass and every other SF's systems (including the other -isms in A3) are better than them, same goes for A-Groove in CvS2. All are good games, those mechanics just drag them down.
What a shit opinion
Custom Combos being something you can activate for nearly any punish (and being the only way to punish certain things), giving you insane combo damage for what is usually a lame route (shit's so open you just loop one ideal move into itself with minor positioning differences for 80% of starters across the cast) and being pretty much your only use for meter that matters (or at all) sucks, I'm sorry to say. Still worth playing the games, I just don't like the mechanic. I pick X-ism or C-Groove or K-Groove instead.
You the same moron that thinks this is drive rush?
Just can use arcade style for the og garou experience
Still not as bad as the new hunter x hunter game, there they don’t even give you the option
Do you think we could get a Trails fightan?
Does Ys Vs Kiseki not count?
hxh went for the fun competitive route
vs the ssb lite/arena garabge that is OP, JJK, and naruto
togashi won bros
i would have preferred a yu yu hakusho game but it is what it is
I'm mad they didn't give netero any buddha hands as his special attack it's locked behind a bar
No Razor no buy.
Man I've never played a Makoto before. I'm getting destroyed.
She's a bit tricky to play against when you don't know the counterplay for the gimmicks.
why are skullgirls fans obsessed with obesity
almost guaranteed akuma trailer drop by tomorrow brothers
I'm more hype for Slayer tbdesu
Shouldn't that be tonight technically? I thought Strive finals were at 12pm JST, so 11pm EST (prob wrap up around 1am).
Yeah the trailer is (probably) gonna drop tonight
ABA's Strive transfer was good so I have decently high hopes for Slayer
Well fingers crossed then. I'll come back and play if he's added. But I've been playing through old fighting games so it's been a long time since I've played anyone online, I'm going to get massacred.
Are they finally adding him? I stopped playing Strive because they seemed almost allergic to adding any character I actually enjoyed playing.
Is it weird that I don't enjoy sitting through streams?
I dropped Strive after the beta.
And it's purely because Axl doesn't have 2 hit chains and 3P.
It's kind of clear they wanted to get rid of 2 hit chains since Xrd with the removal of them from the P normals but no 3P is actually criminal.
the real crime is how Axl has zero fricking pressure and garbage AA game
Only good thing to come out of Evo Japan was Breakers Revenge Chicago
You’re asking them to not use the mechanics that have been featured in their most successful games to date.
aaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I'M SO FRICKING BAD AT UNI
i've only played GBVS in recent months and i want to get into UNI again even though i haven't touched it since 2021 and i feel moronic trying to do basic combos and rebeats
These high execution fighting games are so frustrating man, I really like the GRD system and the various shield/roll defensive options but dropping combos or flubbing inputs makes me wanna fricking die
Ya just gotta play more m8.
Muscle memory WILL win out.
>high execution
uni is really easy to get into, what char were you trying?
is it really though?
not trying to flame genuinely asking, it feels like there's a lot of things you have to know like your rebeat pressure and theirs and properly shielding to punish certain things
That sounds more lnowledge check heavy than necessarily high execution.
understanding pressure (yours and the opponent's) is a thing in every fighting game.
what imo makes FB games easy to get into is that rebeat pressure (and ability to stagger everything) makes it freeform. there's no set blockstrings, you can use any button and end safely with a rebeat 5A/2A (and due to shield you never want to be predictable with your strings)
on defense you have shield. sure there's some gimmicky shit to learn but in general it's more about figuring out how the opponent structures their defense and calling those out with shield to win the cycle
>what char were you trying?
Byakuya.
>uni is really easy to get into,
I want you to know this was so breathtakingly stupid I went and took a walk before I came back to my computer and responded to it.
Byakuya is easy as shit.
>uni is really easy to get into
I think he means that it's simple upfront.

I hate every character with an AA
But that's every character but Bang.
Lemme be more specific, I hate any character with a head invuln AA command normal.
Fair enough.
why is bang so ass
I've never had this issue before and I've been playing since Champion Edition.
i don't wanna talk about it edmond
I made it to C+ in UNI
25-0'd a friend in All Star Battle R without him getting salty about it like he has in the past. I even taught him the difference between stand block and crouch block.
1 to 30-something yesterday
was not ranked but i still got upset at myself
>Guilty Gear """players""" will boot up their game to watch OTHER PEOPLE play it
Cuck is honestly too good a word for you people
yeah yeah you've never played a fighting game in your life and you don't know how lobbies work, it's been obvious since your second post you don't need to announce it
Enjoying watching other people play your game, lil cucky?
Does it make you feel good when the people you're watching do a combo?
Only decent thing about Third Strike but it only has like 2 or 3 good songs.
Best single player fightan games to play nowdays?
blazblue continuum shift, soul calibur 3

Cool, also im accepting even "fighting" like games like Sifu
bros exploring options is fun
LET'S BRING IT
POWER OF THE NOVA FORCE
Nova hits like a grown man
Worth $12? I'm honestly on and off about it.
its better than granblue and other newbie friendly fighting games while still having the kusoge of more technical fighters. I say its worth it. It even has neutral and shimmies that sfbros really like.
>how are those not fighting games?
But i didnt say anything bad about the games the suggest, just surprised its just 2 games and thats it
i misinterpreted you're reply and theres probably more those were just the two that I thought off first, if you're only in it for the single player a bunch of anime games would probably be what you're looking for
The idea of logging in everyday to play a fighting game fascinates me.
humans are creatures of habit and the best way to learn is repetition
SF6 is so ugly.
SF was never meant to be 3D. The original lead artist left Capcom because the industry was going 3D and he had no interest in it.
I guess you are right. The cartoony proportions look weird the detailed textures. Looks kind of gross to me.
Part of it is some of the costumes too. A lot of the characters just have random colorful shit all over them and wacky hair dos all on top ridiculous massive bubble butts and pop eye arms and it just feels like it's all lacking a little bit too much cohesion to be great looking maybe.
You bros are doing your lab reps right? Don't tell me you didn't bring anything for show and lab?
Ahhh western artists. I wish the art and animation was better. The animation in particular annoys me because they almost got it, except it's a little too slow and not enough of a clean finish. It doesn't help that movement is also floaty and slightly not fast enough. Also, I hope they clean up assists leaving the screen, they just pop out - no effect, no nothing.
i'm gonna be honest this looks like ass
yea, the fact that its obviously aping MAHVEL is so fricking trite. And it has the hood e-sports style going on instead of the magic rune style shit league is going for. I hate popularizing hood culture with fighting games, it's so fricking lazy.
>I hate popularizing hood culture with fighting games, it's so fricking lazy.
Literally what the hell are you talking about
street fighter 6 leaned too much on street culture instead of wordly fighters and looks uglier because of it. Obviously riot wants a piece of the esports pie and is trying to bait sf and marvel players by combining the two, is what I'm saying.
>and looks uglier because of it.
no it looks ugly because it went for realism while having stylized characters you fricking moron
>street fighter 6 leaned too much on street culture instead of wordly fighters and looks uglier because of it
They pushed the worldliness of the roster though, they explicitly brought back the World Warriors and made sure every newcomer besides is from a different country while having JP's true country of origin be obscured with his scam MO being to pretend he's from various countries and use various aliases.
Honestly the screen is way too small for me to consider it to be aping Marvel
It just looked like sluggish SF with assists to me
On one hand this is way below what I'd expect from a company with the money Riot has (and they've commissioned/made some killer animations to shill their games before), on the other hand this is the next game from some of the team that made Battle for the Grid which was fricking ROUGH-looking.
>CotW having by far the longest line
Is SNK finally going to get an audience other than the Chinese and Tacos?
People really like Rock
>I don't think I've seen anyone be excited for it as a main game outside of competitors hoping that Riot will make tournament winnings worth competing for,
This, no one talks about this game's gameplay, all the conversation around it focus on money around the pro scene, in a way it's a tacit admission that game isn't interesting
Only interest in this is because it's possibly free or at least "free." The current roster shown off isn't interesting, and the Mahvel Infinite style of tagfight is my least favorite.
Waiting to see them finally reveal Katalina because she was the first hinted at in their earliest reveal video.
fighting games are boring but the girls are top tier
you take that back
sauce
1) You're wrong about the first part
2) I always had this theory that fighting game women in particular are/were so attractive is how important character designs are in fighting games. You want to attract people to your game with cool looking characters, and the easiest way to do that for women was to crank up the sex appeal.
Well yeah. Fighting games are arcade games. Arcades need to attract guys to come play by plastering a picture of a hot lady on the cabinet.
This.
It's why rhythm games always have multiple female mascots.
>talking fighting games with Ganker
lmfao
Is your ass okay?
>try FighterZ
>decide to go through story mode to learn the basics
>story starts with some Isekai bullshit
>Super characters show up 2 minutes in
>closed the game and refunded
>Calling Beerus & Whis Super characters
>buying fighting games before looking at the roster
Interesting
Actually I did with this one because I was hoping to be surprised. I was surprised alright....
you refunded a fighting game because of the story?
The women might as well be wearing burkas.
How is BigBlue nowadays?i heard they nerfed the dash attack so is it good now?
>everyone i talked to and is at Evo now said that lines for xko were so small even that dogshit hunter x hunter game had more people wanting to play their demo
lmao. Xko does look like shit, insanely safe and medicore from those gameplays.
the characters and animations just look ass they should have just picked all the most popular characters and put in the game especially the women
>have just picked all the most popular characters
thats soulless
2XKO in general is by design
how the popular characters arent just hot women im talking about Dr.
The only novel parts about the game's design are the co-op ones which will lead to insane butthurt online because of miscommunication and how your partner is the one that has to activate Burst.
>tfw i moved to fighting games from playing fps competitively specifically because fgs are 1v1
>most popular game will be riot garbage designed around playing with teammate
I hope other games will still have healthy playerbase man..
You can play both at once like it's a regular tag game, they just have co-op as an option. I do wonder if they'll let two people compete in the same bracket as solo players or have separate tourneys.
thats extremely ironic coming from a melee player
They took a whole year to make a character that will be in the bottom 3 of the character usage rates, why does anyone have faith in this game?
This may shock you, but literally every single fighting game has at least 3 characters that are bottom 3 in usage rates
This may shock you, but spending an entire year to develop 1 character is an absurd amount of time
I think they have far, far, far too much faith that League players and zoomers are gonna play a fighting game more than just novelty streaming.
Tft operates on loss for years now and they easily can afford that because League and Valorant make so much money they can carry other games that lose money.
guilty gear...had a long hard life...
If strive would have better movement game would play 1000 times better. I dont mind systems and dumbed down character kits but movement is just disgusting.
I want Goldlewis in a game that plays like +R so bad.
>i want a giant Black person character infesting my other game
no
>behemoth typhoon vacuums
>behemoth typhoon does an unblockable earthquake
>air drone
>force break behemoth is invincible
he'd become too kuso
I do like it, but I would hold it in much higher esteem with movement and damage more in keeping with older games. I'm open to plenty of changes and additions they made and think in many ways the game just feels different raher than just feeling worse from pripr entries, but the damage has never felt right and while I don't think the movement needs to be 1:1 with as it was, but the airdashes and lack of momentum into jumps does not feel good.
Does Beatrix come out early or late May?
Never mind, I found out it's late May... UNFORTUNATE
late may
i don't know they didn't at least drop a gameplay trailer for evo japan even though they had a booth for people to try her out
Odds are, they'll show it after Strive like they did last year. Either that or at a later date.
>even though they had a booth for people to try her out
Oh cool, hopefully she's like Camm-
>She has a fireball and a slow down mechanic command grab
Ehhhhhhh, another character that doesn't appeal to me. Maybe I'll try Zeta or Vira.
Why does Beato get more vanilla doujins while Zeta gets all the rape stuff?
XTURD ARE YOU OKAY
WOULD YOU TELL US
ARE YOU OKAY XTURD
Could a fighting game, where each special move is tied to a back button, and all combo moves are just the face buttons repeated pressed work?
I have no clue what the frick this means so I'm going to say yes.
post kino combo videos:
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm316907
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm311839
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm2614325
wow holy hecking kinorino (guilty gear is dogshit)
I remember watching this when BBCF 2.0 dropped. The combo at 2:23 is fricking nutty.
I heard bullet was never got good, hope you at least had fun with her for how long she has existed
She's not that great but I'm hopeless and can't get over her. She's just so unique.
Will Arika ever make a sequel to Super DBZ?
>Sparking Zero looking pretty good in the gameplay department has me counting my blessings already.
Yeah, but no local multiplayer.
ex layer was a flop so I think ARIKA big comeback is never happening. think they help work on tekken? now though.
They should make a Tetris fighting game
I want a new EX.
Did they make these games or just helped the studios?
They are the devs of all those games, I think Tekken 7 and 8 are the only games where they're helping out rather than fully developing.
With Tekken is probably just the netcode right?
Probably, but it wouldn't surprise me if they also helped out with the gameplay, since 3D fighters are their forte.
Developed. I made dozens of these last year as a hobby.
vivid memories of playing hard corps during the summer with the boys man how the frick have they never made another?
>Konami
>made in the "We don't have the GG rights, we need to make money to buy them back" era of ArcSys
They announced that they will work with SNK for some new non fighting games so good to know I guess
havent played gbsvr in 4 months
did they go back on not doing balance updates? and is there still a working exploit to get the full version for free or did they fix them all?
they just had a patch recently and also added Vane. Beatrix is the next character sometime soon but i doubt she will come with any kind of balance changes. you can't swap EXE now simply to get the game for free and will need to get the latest crack from some russians.
>finally succeeding in getting a friend into fighting games
I need someone to play this with me. It has netplay.
If you have a replay where it happens try having a do-over with replay assist. It should work.
Different things, but here goes:
>Music and visuals are top-notch
>Very fast and responsive
>Outside of two extremely busted characters and two useless ones, it's moderately balanced
>Parry leads to mind games, even more so when red parry is taken into account
>This is subjective, but a lot of people (now) like that the game has a bunch of new characters and isn't the WW + friends
>great sprite art and animations
>fun characters
>fun parry mechanic
It's really quite simple.
parry is a kusoge mechanic but it's a kusoge mechanic that makes you feel fricking nice with it and that goes a long ways
i never understood why people like chun li or what about her's so enamoring that even decades after her introduction, when she was added to fortnite the zoomers were searching her up on pornhub en masse. are her legs really that good?
Why does homelander look so... weird?
is anyone up for checking out Tatsunoko vs capcom with me on dolphin's netplay? I already played MvC3 and i want to see what else 8ing has done
I enjoy a certain type of character.
>all of these giant weapon characters
>and then.... fricking i-no instead of kliff
Kliff doesn't have an axe, anon.
Guitar is more of an axe than anything else in gear
>giant weapon characters
Why are people so fricking stupid? What is wrong with you?
Why the frick hasn't the finals started?
I just want to see the Slayer trailer and see if they tease the first S4 character tbqh tbh
what the frick?
gotta be more subtle to get around the filters anon
>using chat
???
He's so fat.
strive is such a piece of shit
Its actually insane how anti-hype strive is.
Street Fighter 6 is a two-pack of ass.
It's been more than a year and every single major Strive tournament is the same bullshit with Happy Chaos, what the frick is wrong with the people balancing this trash?
I don't know if balancing can do anything at this point. Conceptually he's too strong.
This, the only way to balance him is to knee cap him hard
Anything else is too little to make any difference
Here is a hot take
His gun should have been like elf’s sniper in xrd and only in focus mode that it would auto aim
Japs unironically can't play chaos and Leo for shit and almost no one in JP region plays Leo so those two run free when people from other regions use them.
how do you balance dropping an entire Injustice 2 character into an anime fighter with limited ranged options? lol
I DRIFT TONIGHT THE FINITE ONE
AND THE INFINITE ONE
FRICK THIS CHARCTER HOLY SHIT
SHE KEEPS HITTING ME WITH THAT STUPID AIR ELBOW MOVE AND MY DP NEVER COMES OUT FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU FRICK YOU
FRICK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
i have no idea how yuzu works i just accept sometimes she gets to choose to hit me or cross me up and i just have to accept that as karma for the bad thigns ive done in life
Dont you just love how she can convert from almost fullscreen and do decent damage too.
Shield it, you dumbass.
This is boring. Anyone want to play fighting games? Anything on fightcade, preferably.
From my understanding the relationship between Arcsys and Bandai just cratered, which is why the rollback update was so fricked (it was done internally at Bandai and not by Arcsys)
>the relationship between Arcsys and Bandai just cratered
any proof to this?
don't bandai get anime licenses and make awful tie in games?
It's not just how long the rollback took. If that were the only problem DBFZ had I would still play it. But balance got so fricked it's insane. People memed on it for a while as "le party gaem xd" but it is fricking unironically a party game with 0 skill involved now. It's so kusoge it's unbelievable. DNF Duel but tag fighter tier level nonsense
Good ol' Sol vs Kiske. Never lets me down.
Where the frick is the evo thread?
Next thread. This one is practically dead.
Next thread. This one is practically dead.
Is this the EVO thread, or should I just go and make on?
Make the thread, thread monkey
