Contra 1, just make sure to have a good controller that doesn't hit downward diagonals too easily, things like that, otherwise once you learn the controls and the jank its just a memory game basically. Keep the spread gun for (approx) 15 mins and you have a 1CC.
It took me two hours of practice and I can consistently 1cc the game on OG hardware. Castlevania is like that too. The difficulty comes from memorising which weapon is best for that level.
>two hours to 1CC Slug 3
just shut the frick up you frauding shitter. If this was even remotely true you would be posting dozens of difficult 1CCs every week.
oh mb, yeah Contra is way easier than Metal Slug. The only Contra game comparable in difficulty to even Slug 1 is Contra 3 on Hard (and HCU in Arcade mode)
Contra 3 is babyshit any way you look at it, the only hard Contras are Hardcorps Uprising and Contra Rebirth on hardest difficulty.
And also the GBA port of Contra 3 but that's because it's the most backwards ass thing known to man.

Contra 3 on Hard is like 10x harder than normal. I haven't actually no-miss cleared it, but I imagine using the weapon swap exploit would trivialize the difficulty a great deal. HCU Arcade is still no doubt the hardest, as it's very long and difficult with complex fights and difficult insta-kill sections even with your HP bar.
Contra 4 is also supposed to be hard, but I haven't really play that one at all.

Yeah weapon swap exploit kills the difficulty greatly so bosses just dissapear within seconds if you know what you are doing.
That also is what makes Contra Advance so hard, besides it being a shit port all around with the two overhead levels replaced by late Contra Hardcorps levels that are outright harder than anything in Contra 3 and don't even work properly with 3s mechanics , no weapon swap, because you can only have one.
It's faster to reset the game if you lose the spread gun in a moment where getting another one is difficult.
Kind of a rare moment where it's easier to 1cc than to die one or two times.
It's only hard if you're trying to beat it on a single credit. I've been able to get to the final mission on one but then I'd need like 20 more just beat it.
It only takes like 5-10 hours from scratch to learn most of the routing and then maybe 10-20 hours of recorded runs to get a no-miss clear.
There is really only a few sections in the whole game that are remotely difficult. Just taking the right paths, planning weapon pickups, and basic routing cracks the game right open.
It's impressive how morons even when the dark souls popularity went through went "yeah the game is easy" well yeah if you attempt a thousand times something then it will become easy, moron.
>This now 23 year old game is actually piss easy because the game has been played to death and all strategies have been uploaded as videos
Oh yeah I bet Metal Slug 3 was piss easy in 2000 first credit no miss brah
moron, 99% of the survival strategies are identical to Metal Slug 2 and X. Stockpiling grenades/weapons for a certain section has been a thing since Metal Slug 2 and keeping the Slug alive and using it for i-frames has been a thing since Metal Slug 1.
To practice the execution, you either had to sit there and credit feed some. boss or sections. Or purchase the AES/MVS cart as there was no discount NEOGEO CD version.
In other words you would be paying quite a bit to master this game.
nobody talks about this one and i have no idea why, everything in metal slug 3 is a fricking bullet sponge
the game's tedious to play without autoplay compared to any of the prequels
What the frick are you talking about? I've been playing these games since I was a kid and 1CCing 1 and 2/X is piss easy compared to 3 because in 3 you have to deal with actual RNG in 2 levels. You secondary Black person.
2/X have the most RNG because Rugname is much harder if you get shit drops prior to the final phase. He's also much later in the game then Sol. 2 also has the undulating bridge which is very RNG heavy and difficult and you can't cheese like in X.

Oh so you're that kind of Black person
also Sol Dae Rokker is way more RNG based than anything in 2 anyway.

2 is miles better than X with slowdown removed. X is filled with all kinds of baffling decisions and moronic gimmicks.
Sol's RNG is not nearly as bad as 2's bridge + Rugname. Only his yellow attack is dangerous, and only if he does it when he's low on HP, and really only if he uses it while he's centered.
Dodging multiple saucer lasers in 2 is miles harder than dodging the yellow projectiles.

2 is dogshit dude, even with slowdown removed the game feels underwhelming with you walking through entire sections like they're just there to look at.
X gives you a better pacing, more weapons, a better engine and better difficulty curve.

>X gives you a better pacing
fricking lmao, the pacing is garbage in X. The difficulty curve is all over the place, moronic vehicles in sections they shouldn't be, moronic fat gimmick in every level, copy-pasted bosses just shoved in randomly, hordes of enemies just spamming nonstop grenades, big weapons that function identical to regular weapons aside from a marginally bigger hitbox, many bossfights completely trivialized. >more weapons
dropshot is fricking awful and usually a penalty weapon, chaser is just unsatisfying to use, and Iron Lizard is interesting but usually trivializes sections (for example the undulating bridge) >a better engine
zero actual improvement aside from Vulcan Fix + being able to rebind Slug Attack to finally jump and shoot (the one actual major improvement).
X is romhack-tier trash. The only sections that are an improvement are the alien section in the facility of the last level and stage 2 (which is a pushover in 2)

Maybe you should git gud instead of complaining like a b***h over a little bit more difficulty and focused hard sections in the arcade shooting game.

X is trash because it just relies on cheap gimmicks for difficulty like literally copy pasting Slug 1 bosses, having hordes of grenade spamming and sniper enemies, and forcing the fat gimmick because they were too lazy to make new content. But then they also trivialize a ton of the actual satisfying and challenging sections from 2.
It's like they only want challenge to come in the form of their new gimmick arrange trash.

You have either brain damage or never played the games.

I've literally no-miss cleared both 2 ans X you utter moron
>secondary
how can you even be a metal slug secondary, nobody gives a frick about the story or characters in these games and it isn't even particularly popular for speedrunning or anything
I prefer this to what they used to do which is 'ACKTUALLY old games are all hard because they were designed to quarter munch and they're cheap/unfair! or it's equally moronic cousin 'lives are a relic of quarter muncher arcade games with no place in modern games.
It's all fun and games until devs actually start listening to these morons and you get shit like the new super monkey ball where the devs just thoughtlessly remove lives and completely frick up the game's design and difficulty because (Surprise!) they actually did have an important game design purpose and they were just too moronic to see it.
1 is really hard to clear for a new player, but it's all about taking it slow, using Slug i-frames, and making sure to keep your Slug for as long as you can throughout the level.
I cleared Metal Slug 2 on actual machine using one coin without using any exploits, just by pure repetition, in 2002. I haven't ever cleared MS3 with less than 10 continues and I've played it over 200 times.
You're either bullshitting or moronic. That's like saying making a five course meal is easy but heating up a hot pocket is brutally hard. It just makes zero sense and shows complete lack of even surface level knowledge about the subject.
I never tried super hard to 1CC MS3 but if I managed to clear MS2 as a dumb kid who didn't even emulate just by playing it over and over again then I guess MS3 is way harder than MS2.
post your 1CC
post your level 8 1cc
Level-4 no-miss > non-default meme clears.

That's pretty much any Contra but with different weapons.
I wouldn't call it easy but yeah it mostly come down to routing
It's only hard if you're trying to beat it on a single credit. I've been able to get to the final mission on one but then I'd need like 20 more just beat it.
>the game is easy when you have infinite lives

maybe if you follow a guide
It's impressive how morons even when the dark souls popularity went through went "yeah the game is easy" well yeah if you attempt a thousand times something then it will become easy, moron.
Souls tard impose ton of shitty limitations to make game "hard".
Itt have moments but far from uber hardcore as everyone say.

brain shart
Deathless runs tend to end at a certain boss though
>Ganker zoomers now pretend old arcade games are easy because they have infinite continues in their poorly coded steam emulator
3 is the one that seems hard for casual morons credit feeding, but is easy for a 1CC or no-miss.
Way to out yourself as a secondary and a poser moron

I'm trying to 1cc metal slug 1 with a friend and it's hard af. Way too many bullshit and RNG. It feels kinda impossible and lucky tbqh

Do you know if the bosses and difficulty goes up if you're with 2 players? or does it remain the same?
Is it really playing if you just enter a pattern of inputs that are measured precisely not to produce a negative outcome?
Yes because these games are never 100% static
yes, because people coddled by slow or magnet-riddled games cheating in favor of the player don't understand their execution is not perfect
I find it hard.
Contra on the NES.

MS3 requires better routing to play consistently, 2 you can just get the hang of by playing well
makes perfect sense
I could beat the first level without dying going to easy route, what a Pimp i was
Ok moron, try to beat it on the original arcade with real money and no gay infinite continues
yeah like 20 quarters so?
If you used auto fire, im afraid you didn’t beat the game.
