Pic unrelated?
It's a laborious slog of a game with absolutely atrocious dungeons where you can barely tell where you're supposed to be going due to the screen rotating system and the shitty design.
And the voice acting is god-awful and all the characters are ripped right out of old miyazaki films and nadia secret of the blue water (which was also bad).
The only good thing about Grandia is its battle system.
Game Arts first 2 Lunar games are far superior not only at just being games, but also at providing a "world spanning adventure:.
>jrpg about adventuring unknown lands with your gf
I'm sad at how few games do this thing. I guess the latest one was Xenoblade 2 and it just didn't hit the right notes to me.
I wish we'd get more.
What game
Final Fantasy VI
No.
This but XII.
Grandia
You posted the best one and also chrono trigger felt that way. Never got the same feeling from final fantasy games.
Skies of Arcadia
Was Grandia inspired by Nadia?
I thought the same thing
Something about the art

>inspired
lol
Why was Nadia such a massive c**t?
Final Fantasy 9
the most soulful piece of shit out there
Worth playing? I remember trying DW2 and not understanding how to progress.
Only with a speedup hack to "skip" the random battles because the encounter rate is a bit much
Lunar feels similar since it was also made by Game Arts
And it had THE peak JRPG waifu. Unmatched to this day and the hyper kino archetype of physically strong healer.
Grandia is the only "classic" JRPG I could never get into, it's ugly and the main characters are annoying.
Pretty much any game with an overworld but tales of vesperia in particular.

There's just something about games where you tour the world in instanced locales that can't be replicated by open world games
Every DQ game
Breath of Fire 3
Pure Capkino
Planescape Torment.
